Installing itunes 7.6 and quicktime

help - I have repeatedly tried to install itunes 7.6 and quicktime both individually and together. I repeatedly get an error message which says 'error creating directory QTsystem\Quicktime3GPP.Resources\ja.lproj' - I then get ererr 2330 and then I only get an option to quit the installation process which I have to click which then rolls back the process and installation is aborted.
I have itunes 7.2 and cannot buy anything from the itunes store as it requires itunes 7.6.
I have gone through the troubleshoot page in apple - done the msconfig steps etc and nothing has resolved. Have now deleted quicktime so unable to install again as the same error happens. tried deleting itunes 7.2 but don't want to fully delete evryting as I will lose all my libraries. Have installed latest windows service pack 3 and this hasn't resolved the issue. My computer is XP Home.
Any help to resolve this gratefully received.

2330s are most commonly associated with damage to program files (in your case it looks like something in one of the Japanese language localisation resources for your QuickTime).
Try running a chkdsk over the drive containing that directory. (Usually it's the C drive, but if you've got your QuickTime program files installed on a different drive, try running the chkdsk over that one.)
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, does an install go through properly afterwards?

i have installed both itunes and quicktime, but if i open one of those it shows that 'Itunes/quicktime has encountered a problem and needs to close'
how do i fix this ? please respond ASAP

I have the same problem... can someone tell me how to fix it... Apparently my vista is special because a friend of mine is running iTunes and Quicktime on a desktop with Vista and he doesn't get that problem. I really need help here.

  • Disable altivec extensions for iTunes 1.1 and Quicktime 6.0.5 in OS 8.6 ?

For kicks and giggles I'm trying to get an install of OS 8.6 working as well as it can on a G3 B&W again, just because it looks so cute. Not surprisingly the big stumbling block was getting a browser with somewhat acceptable usability (am using both netscape 7.0.2 and mozilla 1.3.1)
I've installed both iTunes 1.1 and Quicktime 6.0.5 but I can only get them to work when i have a G3 450 Mhz CPU installed. As soon as I put in a G4 650 CPU the system either locks up while loading those little puzzle pieces across the bottom, or whenever i try to open quicktime (or a browser tries to access it to play content).
I installed OS 8.6 while running the G4 and other than these 2 applications it runs quiet snappy.
It seems to me that the two apps in question only cause a crash while trying to access the altivec capabilities of the G4 CPU which I understand is not possible inside of OS 8.6.
Is there some way to turn off those requests, either at the application level or globally?
I am hoping that it is as easy as tossing one of those little puzzle pieces in the trash.
I'm trying to get 4 systems on one 20 gig backup drive (onboard IDE channel 8.6 / 9.2.2 / 10.3 / 10.4 separate partitions) all using the same hardware.
    Any suggestions?

I think i figured it out. I installed OS 8.6 with an applecare disk that was for the original G3 blue and white, and i see that a different version of 8.6 shipped with a G4 PCI power mac which i suppose is the disk i need.
Am i on the right track? and is this fixable?

  • I have the 64bit version of itunes. When I connect my iphone5 it says that I don't have the correct software and that I need to install itunes 64bit! And I can go no further! Help!

I have the 64bit version of itunes on windows 7. When I connect my iphone5 it says that I don't have the correct software and that I need to install itunes 64bit! And I can go no further! I've uninstalled and reinstalled but it makes no difference. I have no access to other computers so at the moment I don't have a backup for my iphone should anything go wrong.
    Please Help!

    Hello ekbowers,
It sounds like you have installed the 64 bit version of iTunes, but you continue to the get an error message that suggests to download the 64 bit version any time you connect your iPhone 5.  I understand that you have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, but sometimes you may need to uninstall additional components related to iTunes to completely remove it from your system.
I recommend following the steps in this article to completely uninstall iTunes:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Once you have completely uninstalled iTunes, you can download the 65 bit version of iTunes for Windows here:

  • Airport Hardware Dissappeared - After iTunes 7.0 and QuickTime 7.1.3

    Hello,
On my powerbook G4, everything has been working great. I did a software update (via wireless connection) and iTunes 7.0 and QuickTime 7.1.3 were prompted. I went ahead with the update and performed the obligitory restart. After this reboot, the airport card hardware is no longer recognized.
In the log file during initiation when an internet connection is attempted, the following message occurs:
Internet Connect: WirelessAirPortDeviceNameCopy(): no AirPort drive found
I have tried many restarts (including a hard restart). I have reset the PRAM, and NVRAM but still nothing. This to me appears to be very much a software issue due to the circumstances. Are there any suggestions on how I may reinstall the airport driver or determine if there is a configuration problem?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    PowerBook G4 15" 1.5Ghz 1.5GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Built in Airport Card

I don't think this is an isolate issue, as I'm having the same problem. After the update my computer is now saying "Airport hardware not found" although I've been using it for almost 2 years now. I fixed it briefly by dragging some folder to the desktop as per advice on this site, but today it did the same thing. I was watching videos on MTV.com when an alert came up saying "Error, you need to restart your computer" and after I did my Airport hardware was "not found" again. Since I haven't dropped the computer and I wouldn't know how to take the card out if I wanted to, I don't think it's a simple issue of the card not being installed/connected properly. I'm open to any suggestions. I have the original disks that came with my computer, but I can't reinstall the software b/c the old software is still on there....

  • How to revert to iTunes 4.9 and QuickTime 7

    Hello all—
I used the Automatic Software Update yesterday and downloaded iTunes 5.0 and QuickTime 7.0.2 and now not a single program will work on my iMac G5 (using 10.3.9)!!!
I know there are other posts related to iTunes 5.0, but I can seem to find an answer to these questions:
Is there a way to revert back to the old versions?
Any one have advice on how to solve this problem?
    Thank you.

    Interesting.
Normally, if you have corrupt preferences of your 'third-party' (non-Apple) applications, they would have no effect on computer startup issues, as those preferences are not looked at until the program which owns them is invoked. Though perhaps this issue is with some of the Finder and Apple OS preferences being corrupted, which could cause problems with startup.
FYI, Crashes of a program may indeed corrupt its own preferences, and sometimes its own data files too. As your experience with Mail corrupting its own preferences, and Carrie Ann's with their tech move-the-Mail-folder recommendation shows.
But if the crashing or other bad behavior of the Apple applications (Mail, QT or iTunes) is writing bad data onto other, non-Apple programs' preference files, that would be extemely unusual program behavior. (The Mac OS was designed to protect memory, and be less likely to 'hose' other data...)
As you note, Bster, I do see that Apple has just posted a QuickTime (QT) 702 to 701 downgrader file. THis is highly irregular -- not sure what is happening with their Quality Assurance (QA) process these days...
But it does imply that they know something is not quite right with QT 702 and its interactions with other programs.
As a counterpoint note, I am running QT 7.0.2 on my iMac G5 and have not experienced any trouble with it. (I haven't noticed any particular or big improvement with the 702 over the 701 either.) The difference may be that I have stayed at iTunes 4.x and did not upgrade it to 5.0 (actually, my iTunes is 4.7.1 - a few versions behind). And I do not use Apple Mail application (I use the MS Entourage for email - though it is not a perfect solution either).
As well, regarding my setup, I always run repair permissions both before and after any of my significant Apple software updates, and I usually seem to encounter fewer sotware install problems than get reported in the forums.
(I mention this just to illustrate that sometimes software problems arise not due solely to an application or application update itself, but because it was installed onto a machine that had a few minor disk errors or permission errors existing on it before/during the update process. I hope this makes sense.)
Thus the general recommendation to always repair disk and repair permissions both before and after significant OS and application updates. And to not run other memory or disk intensive programs at the same time you are running the update.
So based on my personal computer setup, which so far is running fine with QT 702, it might imply a strange set of interactions between QT 702, iTunes 5 and possibly Mail -- but this is just a guess. It is a very curious situation that has come up with this.
One general recommendation: when you are on the tech support call, ask them to explain WHY a particular action is being recommended, and what it's other effects might be. This to increase your own understanding of the process, and to alert them that you are a wise user, so that they do not issue overly simplified procedures. Empower The User. ;^)

  • Installed iTunes 7.6 and can't open iTunes

    Hi,
I recently installed iTunes 7.6 and at first it gave me the error message -2096. I restored my computer and tried to open iTunes and got the message saying "QuickTime unavailable. QuickTime was not found. QuickTime is require to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes." This happened to me when I downloaded iTunes 7.5 as well and it deleted all the songs off of my iPod for nearly a week. I'm getting very fed up with this and I was wondering if anyone else had had the same problem and could help to resolve this?
    Thanks.

    OK, I fixed it:
Find iTunes on My Computer (i think it's the C Drive but mine is on an external hard drive so I'm really not sure)
Right click on the actual file of iTunes.exe and find the compatability tab (not QuickTime, iTunes, because i know i did QuickTime before)
Unclick the box that says that you want it to run in Compatability mode.
    It should work after that.
    Hope that helped.
    Katherine

  • I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am

I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am? I need them and don't want naturally to buy them again!!!
    Thank you

Assuming you purchased QT Pro, you can always download it again at no extra charge by logging in to your Apple account.
Regarding FCE, there is no way to download & install the product.  You need an original FCE install disk and your FCE serial number.
Final Cut Pro X (aka FCPX) can be purchased & downloaded from the App Store.

  • Install iTunes 7.6, and loose my DVD Drive after it.

I run: Windows Vista Ultimate PRE-SP1. Lite-ON Blu-Ray DVD Player.
I install iTunes v7.6 and get the following after reboot:
"Warning! iTunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CD's you need to reinstall iTunes."
My DVD drive is no longer recognized by my computer. Windows Hardware says there is a driver error. Re-installation of these Drivers results in same error. Upon removal of iTunes the error magicly dissapears and there is my DVD drive again.
Please Tell me someone knows of a hotfix for this issue! I am missing my iTunes.

No this is an Apple issue. I ran out and bought 4 Mac's laptops last year when I had to buy a "Vista" computer.
Because of my business I have to use PC (software). since I purchased Vista I was unable to use my 3 video pods (my kids and mine). itunes did exactly what you are discribing here. I totally blamed microsoft..
HOWEVER after downloading service pack 1 and purchasing a new iphone 3G it was working like a charm ....NOT a problem. I used "mobile me" to sync my outlook and was happier than I had been in over a year with BOTH my PC and Mac.
After the upgrade last week (I upgraded 8-1-08) my PC sees the CD/DVD drive however itunes is disabling it. I have a ton of software on my PC Office ultimate 07, Photoshop 6 Roxio 10 all of it. NONE of those had updates.
I am NOT happy with the thousands that I have placed into apple the last 6 months. I really thought this was Microsoft...it is not.
I am lucky because I have a Mac Pro to sync my iphone too (even though I am NOT proficent on a Mac yet). I actually signed onto these boards to see if I could run it on Mac since I installed it on PC..
I tried to see if I would downgrade to the previous version ...no luck...apple likes to install as soon as you boot up...I also tried to restore to a previous time (prior to the upgrade) that also didn't work..itunes again downloaded immediatly after a reboot.
Apple needs to get a fix...I was going to automate a business with MACs...I have my kids on both now..I have an appointment with their business sales..
I think I will bring this computer in and tell them we will talk AFTER you fix this simple problem.. I would HATE to lose patients medical records because of a bad download.

Can anyone help solve this problem

Exactly the same problems as many others with iTunes 10.5 and my Windows 7 32 bit laptop: An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT .type="win32", … HRESULT:0x800736FD. I followed the Apple instructions to completely uninstall earlier iTunes and all Apple applications and then tried to re-install iTunes 10.5. Numerous attempts. Still no success. Constantly goes through the install and then rolls back after failure.
By unzipping using WinRAR and installing each module separately it seems that the module that fails is the AppleApplicationSupport.msi
Finally I uninstalled everything again and reinstalled iTunes 10.4.1. This installed perfectly. So at least I still have iTunes.
I was able to install iTunes 10.5 on myWindows XP SP3 desktop.
I noticed with WinRAR that the AppleApplicationSupport.msi file with 10.5 is a completely different size to that with 10.4.1. This suggests to me a conflict between the latest AppleApplicationSupport.msi and Windows 7.

  • Everytime I install iTunes 10.7 and then reboot, I have no sound at all.

    Scenario:
I install iTunes 10.7 and everything works great.  Until I shut down my computer.  When I turn my computer back on, there is no sound at all. No startup chimes from Windows 7, none of my music or video files have any sound.  If I open iTunes and start playing a song, there is no sound, but also the song doesn't even start playing.
When this happened the first time, I tried everything I could to try and get sound back.  I installed the newest versions of my sound drivers and also for the chipsets on the mb, and even the video card. Everything is up to date already. I tried unplugging all of the cables and plugging them back in.  Nothing worked.
So I did a system restore to the only restore point available which was a couple of days before.  Voila.  Success.  Everything is hunky dory.  Oops, no iTunes.  I'll just go reinstall that. Alrighty, now we're cooking.  Time for bed, I'll just shut this down.  Next morning...no sound again. I have repeated this process 4 times all weekend, trying to work out why it is happening and on the most recent one, the only thing I reinstalled was iTunes. And then I immediately rebooted.  No sound.  It would seem that iTunes is the culprit.
On the most recent attempt I made, there is strangely no restore point available that is not corrupted.  I no longer have a process with which to reverse it.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try in order to resolve this more permenantly?

Best post this in the MacPro forum.
    Have fun.

I´m using snow leopard the last version. What can i do to solve this problem and and continue using my itunes normally?

Try doing it in a WIndows Safe mode - Restart computer and hit F8 key right after your see BIOS check and choose "Safe mode with networking"
    Do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that does not work, whilst in safe mode, download Free Malwarebyte software from CNET's Download.com.  Install, update virus definition then perform a full scan.  Remove if it did find some viruses or trojans.  Restart computer.
Back to regular windows, do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that doesnot work, check to see if your Hard drive has errors or bad sectors
GO START BUTTON /COMPUTER, right mouse click OS (C:) and choose "Properties"
Choose "Tools" tab and under error checking, click "Check Now".
Make sure "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" is checked and click start.
Restart windows will perform the above task to fix errors  This may take hours depends on how big is your Hard Drive
    Good Luck!!.

  • I installed itunes 10.5 and now it will not recognize my phone-

I installed itunes 10.5 last week and now when I plug in my iPhone it will not recognize it.  I've gone through all the recommended troubleshooting through Apple's site but it seems to make my computer worse.  I re-installed itunes 3 times and it still will not find my phone when I plug it in.  When I go to my device manager my "Apply Mobile Device USB Driver" has the little Yellow Triangle with the exclamation point it in- I checked for and updated driver but it says I have the most current one.  I am running Windows Vista and itunes was working fine before I took the upgrade.  Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!

I spent last week looking for a solution to that little yellow "!" needle haystack....
It is probably buried where nothing can touch or change it other than what I resorted to and would have saved time, clean install after I made sure to have two backup sets: Windows Easy Transfer plus Paragon clone OS and partitions to drive. Had to spend a full day reinstalling, updates, etc. Careful not to bring back any prefs or data that might be corrupt or wrong.
10.5 and iOS 5 on new iPod 4G works much better though and as they should and no issues like I had with AMS or other services or needing to restart first before launching iTunes.
