Installing iTunes 8 with Quicktime 7

So when I went to download iTunes 8 it said i needed Quicktime 7. When I went to install Quicktime 7, it would not let me download it, and told me to reinstall iTunes. So I did this and now nothing is working. What do I do?

Hi Seth,
Try to uninstall iTunes and the related Apple software as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Then download and reinstall the latest version of iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you still see an error message when trying to install iTunes or Quicktime try the tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926

  • Issue installing iTunes with Quicktime 7.6

I downloaded iTunes and it came with Quicktime. I went to install it and I got the following error message:
Outlook is currently running on this computer. If proceed without quitting Outlook, it is highly recommended that you restart Outlook after installation.
What I want to know is:
A.) What does Microsoft Outlook have to do with iTunes and Quicktime when Outlook is an email program
B.) I don't even have Outlook running at all so why would it say that it is "currently running on this computer". I have the program installed but it is not opened and is not running in the background.
    Did I do something wrong?

Glad to see that my dochter is not the only one having this issue !!
Tried many times to install iTunes/un-install but always comeback to the same issue since the 10.2.1 upgrade. Before it was working properly.
    No solution yet ?

  • Installing itunes, couldnt install itunes with quicktime error

hello, i really hope somebody can help me, ok i went to reinstall itunes because i kept getting a window that comes up saying itunes encountered a problem and needs to close, so i went to install it and i got a error saying something about itunes couldnt be installed because it needed quicktime, but i had quicktime, so i tried to unistall it and it wouldnt let me so i went and deleted the program files for quicktime, and then tried to install itunes, it installed but when i tried to run itunes, i get the origional error message saying it encounted a problem. please please help

okay, that's a useful pointer. checking on another couple of things with your current quicktime.
    (1) try launching your QuickTime. does it fail to launch, with no error message whatsoever?
    (2) try heading into your Control panel and launching the QuickTime control panel. does it open or do you get an error message? if you get an error message, what's the full text of the message? (this can give us a fairly solid heads up on the cause of your symptoms.)

  • Need help installing itunes with quicktime

i get a message after i open up at the status window about to install it. another installation is in progress you must complete the other installation before continuing this one. how do i fix this

Sorry about that, just the fourm said you were using 21.
    How about a reset.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information such as bookmarks and history.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • Installing iTunes with Quictime

I have downloaded the installer iTunes with Quicktime 7.13.
After downloading, I try to install and it states that it isn't a win32 application. I didn't have this problem a week ago on another computer in my building. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hey peanuts35,
Try to download iTunes again: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Youll want to click Save instead of Run when prompted before the download starts.
Another thing that you can do is empty the cache or temp folder of Windows and the browser.

  • Installing itunes and quicktime problem

Alright i am having problems installing itunes and quicktime, itunes downloads fine but when the quicktime install gets to writing system registry values it says "Could not open key: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuicktimePlayerLib.QuicktimePlayerApp\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel"

    "Could not open key: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes
\QuicktimePlayerLib.QuicktimePlayerApp\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient >access to that key, or contact your support personnel"
Crikey. Haven't seen one of those for an eternity.
Checking on a simpler possibility with it first. It can be produced if certain older versions of QuickTime were installed in a different administrative user accpount from the one in which you're currently attempting to install the newer version.
Do you have other user accounts with full administrative rights on the PC? If so, can the install go through successfully from any of those?

  • Massive problems installing itunes and quicktime

Hi, to anyone who can help me:
I cannot install iTunes or quicktime. Just bought a new ipod 30gb. v.excited. Downloaded itunes. gives me error messages when i try to install.
They read: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
    and
"The installation of Quicktime did not complete successfully. ITunes requires Quicktime."
I have tried using CCleaner to clean up my hard drive and uninstall both itunes and quicktime (old and dodgy new versions). I have tried using 7-zip to unpack the new downloaded files and install from the .msi and other .exe files.
I have tried installing the standalone Quicktime (which wont install properly) and then installing itunes (which won't install properly, coz quicktime is not installed properly)
I have tried rebooting my computer between these attempts
I have tried it with my virus-protection software off as one thread here suggested.
I am logged on as administrator for all these attempts and i'm at my wits end.
    I have tried everything!
please help me if you have suggestions.
    Thanks
    Lisa

They read: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
    interesting.
did you have an earlier version of itunes and/or quicktime installed on the PC? in particular, an itunes 6.0.x or lower version, and/or a QuickTime 7.1 or lower version?
(checking on this because i'm wondering if there's a DCOM permissions issue involved with the uninstall of your previous versions of itunes/quicktime.)

  • CD/DVD Drive disappears after installing itunes and quicktime HELP!

When I have installed itunes and quicktime my cd/dvd player drive disappears?? Has anyone had this problem??

I have had exactly the same problem with my Toshiba Laptop running Vista Home Premium for 5 months. I have continually tried updating and checking this site for a fix, but haven't had a clue. My Son-in-law works for Microsoft and uses iTunes extensively and he can't figure it out either. Toshiba has no answers.
I am beginning to believe that Gates has scored one-up on Jobs by planting something in Vista that crashes the drive when you try to use Apple software.

  • How do I install iTunes with a Windows 7 account that uses parental controls?

I have setup a small computer for my daughter to use, running Windows 7 Home Premium. I've enabled Parental Controls through the control panel. So far, I've been unable to install iTunes for her. If I try running the installer as admin, when I try to run iTunes as her, I eventually get a message telling me that itunes64.msi was rejected by the digital signature policy. If I run the installer as her, I get a message saying the system administrator doesn't allow the app to run; I have added the installer to the list of allowed applications. Anyone know how to install iTunes in this case?

  • How do I install itunes with Windows 7?

how do I install itunes with Windows 7?  I always get a Windows Installer error or administrator error __

Have tried: download but do not install iTunes, then turn off virus protection and firewall, restart computer, login as admin, then run the iTunes insallation.  After it installs, restart virus protection and firewall and logout and back in as standard user.
Windows leaves installers running or still resident which conflict with the iTunes installer.

  • QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3

QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes.
That's the error message I have gotten for the past 3 days since trying to upgrade itunes. I have the newest quicktime downloaded, have deleted itunes and quicktime and redownloaded it all, and it still won't work. I have NO idea what to do to make this work, but it's driving me crazy. If anyone can help, please give some advice.

You can try to fully remove both iTunes and Quicktime. Then reinstall the software again. The following link will walk you through the removal of both programs. Make sure you complete Step 16 in the article. Good luck.
