Installing iTunes on Dual Partition?

Hi All, I am new and have a question please. I have just bought an Asus laptop. It came with a 320GB HD that is partitioned into 2 partitions of 74.5GB(C partition) and 204GB (D partition). I would like to install all of iTunes on the larger partition(D). When I installed iTunes, it installed on the D drive ok, but put the location where it stores the music, videos, apps etc... on the C partition. Is there a way that I can make it all install on the D partition? I want the music and all on the larger partition.
Thanks for any help!
Ron

Ok, I get that. Now will it automatically put music, apps etc... in that library? And can I delete the library on the other partition?
Thanks, Ron

Hello, I am trying to upgrade my macbook pro to yosemite, but I get the "disk cannot be used to startup your computer" error.
Resizing the partition does not work for me and I get the error "MediaKit reports no such partition" probably because I installed linux in dual boot and the disk manager is lost.
Anyway to tell the yosemite installer that it should not pay attention whether the disk is bootable or not ?
If I am doomed, any way to delete the installer and downloaded OS from my hard drive ?
    Thanks for your help

As usual, the Linux installer wrecked the partition table. You would have to boot from your OS X installation disc and repartition. Doing so will of course remove all data from the drive, so you must back up first if you haven't already done so.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro will not boot after installing iTunes 11.1.5.5

It's a little hard for me to accept that this is true, but the symptoms seem to be pointing the direction of the title of this thread.  I have an all-in-one touch-screen Gateway computer that came with windows 7 (yeah, a win7 machine that came with touch, yeesh) and I put windows 8.1 pro 64-bit on it with a clean install (actually windows 8 was the clean install and then I did the free microsoft store upgrade to 8.1).  It has 4GB of RAM and has a Pentium Dual Core cpu @ 2.2 Ghz.  It was running fine with the previous version of iTunes, but as soon as I updated to iTunes 11.1.5.5 (and there may have been other apple things that updated too (ie quicktime of course), the computer prompted me for a reboot and froze during the reboot process (before it even shut down).  Then it had trouble booting into windows.  I ran startup repair to no avail and decided to do a sytem restore.  My most recent restore point was from a few weeks back, before iTunes was even installed at all on the machine.  I went back to that point and the machine worked fine again.  Then I installed iTunes 11.1.5.5 and the same exact problem occurred - it froze while shutting down after the iTunes install and then would not boot into windows 8.  I did another system restore and have not put iTunes back on.  The system is working fine.  I'm going to try to find out if there's a way to download older versions of iTunes, so that I can install it, but the bigger issue here is: Is this a legitimate bug/incompatibility with some hardware or software or driver that I have on this computer?  I run a computer support business so I know my way around but I don't have time to troubleshoot this from scratch.  Anyone else seeing this?  Apple employees...a little help here?  Any input?

let it sit for about 30 min and still got nothing
I then did a "hard shutdown(just pressed power button till it turned off the computer)"
That may not have been long enough.  But a "hard shutdown" would definitely have been construed as a problem due to the update.
Asus apparently is a known problem case...

  • How do i install itunes on another drive other than c

I would like to install itunes on a drive other than c drive in a fresh install to keep it free from my operating system.Itunes is not currently installed on my computer, so i dont need to transfer anything or move anything and i dont want to put itunes on a external hard drive as i just simply want to do a fresh install on a drive other than c drive. Can itunes accomodate me in this simple task.

Install it normally, launch it with the Shift key held down, and create a new library on the desired drive. The iTunes application contains system components and therefore must be installed on the drive or partition containing the OS.

    Hellooo Apple Community!

Can someone please tell me if iTunes can be downloaded and installed on "Windows 7 Home Premium" and if so, how?! I need iTunes asap, I have an iphone 4 running ios 6.1.3. Please get back to mee!!
    Thankyou thankyou thankyou!
    Natalie.

I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode.  Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed.  I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides.

Sounds like the CD drive died. Luckily they cost next to nothing to replace. Or get an external LaCie instead. I have a dual G4 1.25 and the CD drive was always so anemic I use a LaCie Porsche with it.

  • Windows 7 64 bit won't let me install itunes 64bit!

I have problems with 2 computers.
They are both by Gateway, one of them is a SX series Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, 1 TB, 4GB of RAM, intel i3 Dual Processor, and was just out of the box. The other one is a DX series Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, 1.5TB, 6GB of RAM, Intel i5 Dual processor, and also, out of the box.
The first thing I do is install itunes.
However, in the middle of installing, it said this error:
an error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32".version="8.0.50727.6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b 9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86".Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070005.
I clicked okay, and it continuted on.
Just when it finished quicktime, it asked to verify the location of Mozilla Plugins for ntunes.dll or something like that. It won't let me through after that. I tried using other computers what have access through this, but it says that I need administrator permission to do so. However, I AM the Administrator. It is on the 2 computers.
Anyone know what is going on with itunes?

I have no idea what check box you are talking about or how you are trying to open a PDF. This is not the Reader forum where you should be asking this question. However, to set Reader as the default, you should be able to right click on the PDF and select open with, select Reader, and then check the box to always use this application to open a PDF.

  • Installing iTunes on Windows XP

I try to install iTunes and a get this error:
    Feature transter error
Error: -1639 Invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows Installer SDK for detailed command line help.
    Why? what can I do?
    CGIP-3022   Windows XP

    hiya!
I'm trying to install it in the drive C: why?
in some rare cases i've seen the 1639 show up when folks try to install itunes to a "recovery partition" on a hard drive, or download the installer to the recovery partition and then try to install it on a different drive from there. (recovery partitions can be odd beasts.)
but if that's not a factor in your case, let's try enlisting some additional technical help.
let's try getting a installer log to someone who can interpret installer logs.
Start menu -> Run... In the text field of the dialog that comes up, type in "cmd" and hit return.
In the command prompt dialog that comes up, find the iTunes installer on your desktop and drag it to this window. Then on the same line type in a space and then the following:
    /Verbose"c:\log.txt" /V"ENABLE_QTLOGGING=TRUE"
There is no space between the e in Verbose and the double quote ("). There is no space between the V"Enable...
    Hit return.
The installer will create two log files:
    C:\log.txt and C:\qt.log
Find those files and send them to this email address Put the URL to this discussion thread into the email, so that the person who gets it has some context. Let them know the version of itunes you’re trying to install, too … in general, give as much info as you can.
    love, b

  • Anyone installed itunes on windows 8?

So I've got Windows 8 Preview running on a dual core AMD Dell Zino and everything was swell (well, nearly everything) until I tried to install iTunes, which is a big deal for this device, since it's supposed to be a server. Anyone installed iTunes SUCCESSFULLY on Windows 8, and if so, are there any tricks I should know about? Everything I can think to update is up to date, and iTunes ran fine on Win7 Home Premium. Web music from Google Play, rDio, Mog, all runs well. Thanks! Arthur

    Hello nanowillnotwork
Check out the article below and pick one of them that relates to your issue. What you need to find out is that does the computer as a whole recognize your iPod nano or is it just iTunes.

  • I installed itunes 10.5 and now it will not recognize my phone-

I installed itunes 10.5 last week and now when I plug in my iPhone it will not recognize it.  I've gone through all the recommended troubleshooting through Apple's site but it seems to make my computer worse.  I re-installed itunes 3 times and it still will not find my phone when I plug it in.  When I go to my device manager my "Apply Mobile Device USB Driver" has the little Yellow Triangle with the exclamation point it in- I checked for and updated driver but it says I have the most current one.  I am running Windows Vista and itunes was working fine before I took the upgrade.  Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!

I spent last week looking for a solution to that little yellow "!" needle haystack....
It is probably buried where nothing can touch or change it other than what I resorted to and would have saved time, clean install after I made sure to have two backup sets: Windows Easy Transfer plus Paragon clone OS and partitions to drive. Had to spend a full day reinstalling, updates, etc. Careful not to bring back any prefs or data that might be corrupt or wrong.
10.5 and iOS 5 on new iPod 4G works much better though and as they should and no issues like I had with AMS or other services or needing to restart first before launching iTunes.

  • Trouble installing itunes on my laptop

i hope someone has run into this problem and has some info to solve this problem. i just got an video ipod 80gb. i tried to download the itunes software from the apple website and it did not install. before it could install a message came up saying "invalid drive E:\" i don't know a whole lot about mac or ipod programs so please help.

When installing iTunes do you have your iPod connected to your PC ?
I ask because the drive "E:" is an unusual one: Basically you have "A" and "B" which are floppy disks and "C" is your harddisk (at least the boot partition).
Probably you have another drive connected or split your harddisk into two partitions ("C" and "D"). So when connecting your iPod (as well as any other storage device like a digital camera), Windows considers your iPod as being a disk drive and assigns a drive letter.
Now maybe you try to install iTunes to the drive "E" (at least the error message states this). Therefore I would recommend to disconnect your iPod and ensure that iTunes is installed to your harddrive ("C" or "D"), where your other software has been placed.
If you still have problems, can you provide a bit more information, like which steps to perform before getting the error, connected devices at the time of installation, etc.. Should you decide to post to the iTunes forum, you may provide this information right away. Otherwise people trying to assist can just guess

  • Installing iTunes on VMWare caused iTunes on Mac to forget where songs are.

I have (had) a pristine iTunes library on my Mac. Two days ago downloaded and installed iTunes for Windows (64) on my VMWare partition. For some reason this caused about 1/2 of the songs in iTunes on the Mac to forget where they are (i.e. the exclamation point problem). The original files have not been moved, and if I do the locate option I can find them - but I don't want to do this on at a time.
How can I get my iTunes library back in order?

I also have this problem, but on my 64-bit Windows 7 desktop. My income level no longer permits me to purchase Apple computers. Anything that I've bought off of the iTunes store, most of it's ten to six years old, will not play any further than 2:34. I just knew when I agreed to this "protected music" business I'd find myself a decade down the line staring at an expensive but unplayable music collection.
