Installing itunes on MACBOOK ADVICE NEEDED!

Hi
I am currently using Windows XP on my PC and i've been having problems with installing itunes on it. I'm considering buying a Apple Macbook Laptop for university and was wondering also does itunes run on the laptop without problems unlike windows? I just want an opinion since I'm considering buying the Apple Macbook Laptop.
Thanx, Sam x UK

Macbooks come with iTunes installed, it's the default media player, unlike windows. I have a macbook and i've never had problems with iTunes. But I didn't have problems on me PC either, But as far as installing, it should be easier, because you don't have to install it in the first place.

Can anybody point me to just that file alone online please?

  • ITunes folder corrupted - advice needed please!

Hi, I have had problems with iTunes breaking songs and losing album artwork for several months now and I have come to the conclusion that I must delete the 'iTunes' folder in 'My Music' (I have tried much else to no avail). I am almost 100% certain that is the route of the corruption. The problem is, although I can put up with losing my playlists and play counts, I have an iPhone and obviously need to retain its settings and apps. Is there a way that I can go about deleting this folder, while retaining these things?
Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks,
    James

Seems like noone has the answer about corrupted files - iTune creates a real mess in organising music files you have collected - I believe it is iTune the cause of all corruption problem with your music folder (iTune shoud never organise anything on a windows platform) - if you have found a solution to access the corrupted folder and recover all files I am interested - then adios iTune - don't want to use it anymore - liked it - now despise it
    Bad iTune

  • Need to install iTunes 10.7 on a MacBook 2.1

I just bought the new iPhone 5, but when I link it to my MacBook 2.1, it errors out and says I need to install itunes 10.7.  When I try to install nothing happens.  I have come to the conclusion that the OS is very out dated and might need to be updated.  I was told to download mountain lion but hen he details appear to not support my system.  I need direction as to what the exact OS I should download, where to download it from; I was having issues doing this in he morning and what the exact steps to resolve the OS issues - step by step.
    Thx

In order to install iTunes 10.7, you need to install OS X 10.6 or later. On your system, click on the apple to the left of the menu bar, and about this mac. It will tell probably say OS X 10.5.x.
In order to get OS X 10.6, call the online Apple store, which in the US is 800-MY-APPLE. Cost is $20. When you receive the DVD, first backup your system, then install the operating system update. When done, perform Software Update several times until there are no more updates. At that point, you'll be at OS X 10.6.8 and can download iTunes 10.7.  Your system needs 1GB minimum of memory in order to install OS X 10.6, also. The about this mac pop-up will tell you how much memory you have.
You can install OS X 10.7 Lion, if you want, however, since your goal is to sync your iPhone 5, I'd upgrade to OS X 10.6 and leave it there.

  • How to install itunes on Windows 7?

When I intall iTunes on Windows 7, I receive message that I need to uninstall iTunes now and first install Apple Application Support.  I cannot find Apple Application Support.  It might be an Internet Rich Support extension, but I cannot find it.  So I cannot install iTunes.  Any advice?  Thnx.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Can't install iTunes after deleting prior corrupted version of iTunes

Hi there, I'm hopeful someone can help me out with this vexing problem. I noticed after recently installing the newest version of Quicktime several weeks back that my iTunes would crash whenever I tried to open the iTunes Music Store. Growing weary of that issue and not being able to resolve it on my own after fully using Onyx, I decided to delete iTunes 6.0.4 and simply install it again. After I deleted the corrupted iTunes, I checked to make sure my music was still in its library (it was, but the icons had all changed to Quicktime icons) and then installed iTunes from downloading it from the Apple website.
I was able to download iTunes 6.0.4 from the website. I installed it and that seemed to go well and I then restarted the machine and then went into the Applications folder expecting to see the new iTunes icon there, but it was not! I did a Spotlight search for the new iTunes and it could not be found anywhere on the machine! I did not know how to explain/understand its failure to exist since I had gone through the complete installation procedure and then restarted the iMac, but, I thought I will just try it again and see what would happen. This time, I installed it from the iLife '06 DVD and again, the whole installation program ran fine and I then restarted the machine and opened up the App. folder expecting to see it, but, once again iTunes was missing. Spotlight still cannot locate the program. I know that I have correctly installed the darn thing at least twice but I can't seem to locate the program! Moreover, when I click on some of my music icons, the song will play through Quicktime, not iTunes...I just don't know what to make of this, can someone knowledgeable about iTunes please guide me through this mysterious re-installation process? Thank you very much for reading and hopefully lending a virtual had! Cheers, Mike in California

Although it looked like iTunes was installed, I doubt it was.
Your Spotlight search does confirm that.
Open ./Library/Receipts and trash the 'iTunesX.pkg' and the 'iTunesX 6.0.4.pkg' files.
    Try installing iTunes again.
If you only install iTunes, there's no need to restart or even to log out and in.
After the installer is ready, take a look in your Applications folder.
I'm confident you will find the iTunes.app there.
    Hope this helps.

  • I loaded an Itunes update and now I am told to re-install Itunes.

Everything was working great, but after installing the last update, when I plug-in my IPOD I get the message, " the software required to communicate with the IPOD is not installed correctly.  Please re-install Itunes to re-install the IPOD's software."
There is nothing that I can find that tells me how to re-install Itunes.  Do I need to first un-install it?  The IPOD works fine alone, Itunes works fine on the computer, but I can not get the computer to communicate with the IPOD.
I am not good with computers and this is the first issue i have ever had with m IPOD or Itunes, so any help would be very much appreciated.

I actually thought that this would be a fairly common thing.
Can anyone sned me to a link that tells me how to re-install Itunes?
    Thanks

    Hi North Naha,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are receiving errors in Windows when installing iTunes, I recommend completely removing and reinstalling the software using the instructions in this article:

When reinstalling iTunes (step 3), be sure that you are logged in to your computer as an Administrator:
Make sure you have an administrator account.

  • After installing itunes 8.1 itunes crashes whenever I plug my ipod in...

I downloaded itunes 8.1 yesterday when apple told me to, but now whenever I plug my ipod (4th gen. nano) in itunes crashes with the vista message 'itunes has stopped working' and it forces me to close the program.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi Brennahunt,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes for Windows, try these troubleshooting steps first:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If the steps in the article above do not solve the issue, completely remove and reinstall iTunes using the method in this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This process should not affect any music or content on your computer, but you may want to
back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.
When reinstalling iTunes (step 3 in the article above), be sure that you are logged in to your computer as an Administrator:
Make sure you have an administrator account.

  • HT4759 Do I have to install iCloud before installing iTunes

I have been trying to uninstall/reinstall iTunes for two weeks.  I am presently trying to reinstall all components of iTunes now.  I was doing it in order.  But I cannot install the version of iCloud that I had.  They said to get an updated version for Windows 8.  But I can't find it.  How do I do that?  Thank you anybody/everybody!  I am presently in the process of losing my mind.

The iPad cannot install iTunes. Its preinstalled by default and part of the OS.
If you are trying to install iTunes on a computer then the forum for that would be:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes
In any case, you do not need to install iCloud on a computer to install iTunes.
You may need a newer version of iTunes from here through:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
For iCloud on Windows you need to install iCloud Control Panel.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1455
It is not required for iTunes however.

  • I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome

    1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
