    Hello jgrn76,
It sounds like you are getting an error stating that the iTunes installer cannot be run on your computer. I would try downloading the 64 bit version of iTunes from here:
    iTunes 11.1.3 for Windows (64-bit)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1615
If issues persist when trying to install it, I would try running through the steps in the article named:
Issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1926
Otherwise, would you mind elaborating a bit on what the error message says, word for word?
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,

  • Cannot install itunes on new laptop

Cannot install itunes on new laptop, even when security software is disabled.  Downloads fine, goes through install and then says it can't install on my system.  I have admin priviledges and already have Quicktime running.  Help!  I have itunes already running beautifully on 3 other computers and an ipod touch with home sharing - but my new laptop just won't intall itunes.  Can anyone help?

Many thanks. Quite often with the 0x800736B3 on the iTunes install, there seems to be an 0x8007000b in play for Windows Update.
Let's try the following document first:
    [Windows Update error 8007000b|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error- 8007000b]
Next head to Windows Update and try stocking back on Windows Updates again. If you're a long way behind (sometimes this has been going on for months for people), you may need to do it in several batches. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
After you're stocked back up on Windows Updates, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
(If you can't get Windows Updates to install, post back to let us know the error codes you've been getting on the most recent attempts at updates. Sometimes things are in such a snarl that we have to try a few different measures with them.)

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes, which is available here -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then try following the steps in this Apple article to create an account without a credit card -> Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card

If your library was working on your computer and then popped up empty all of a sudden then this might be what you need...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Upgrading computer, do I install itunes on new computer? How does my content on old computer get to my new computer?

I am upgrading to a new HP ProBook 6470b computer w/ Windows 7, do I install itunes on new computer or somehow transfer the files from the old Dell D620 Windows XP computer ? How does my content on old computer get to my new computer? Would like to find the best way to do this. Thanks!

Yes.  You should copy everything ( music, apps, pcis, docs, contacts, calendars, etc) from your old computer to your new one.
You can type "move itunes library" into the google search bar for instructions on itunes.
Certainly your computers have a methed for moving all of your content from one comptuer to another.

After searching the internet for hours, due to having the same problem I finally found a solution
    1) plug in the ipod and go to START then RUN and type in devmgmt.msc
    2) the device manager should come up, then go to imaging devices(Has that sort of name i dont remember its exact name) and hit the plus and it should say Apple Ipod.
    3) Right click and select Update drivers.
4)Select "Update from a specific location" and then hit browse
    5) then select C\program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    6) hit ok and it should have worked.

  • HT1751 Just installed itunes on my new computer.  My music is on an external drive.  How do i get newly installed itunes on new computer to recognize the music on the external drive?

I just got a new PC, thank goodness.  All my music is on an external drive (F).  i installed Itunes on my new computer.  Now want to get itunes to recognize all the music on my external drive.  Don't want to put music on new computer, but keep on external drive.  Can anyone help me - thanks

Was the media solely on the external library?  If so, it is likely that iTunes was started at some point with the external drive unaccessible.  Simply point iTunes to the correct library location.  To do this, close iTunes.  Hold <SHIFT> and launch iTunes.  When prompted to find library or create a new one, select the find option and point iTunes to where the iTuneslibrary.itl file is at on your computer (or external drive).

  • Install itunes on new laptop w/o losing old songs- cant backup songs tho!

Please can anyone help?! I have to figure this out by tomorrow!! :o
Cliffsnotes: _Want itunes on new laptop. Dont want to lose songs on ipod. Can't backup songs because itunes is gone from old computer. Halp plz?_
Details: I have an ipod touch. I think my dad accidentally deleted some of the software that is required to run itunes so now it won't open, or recognize the ipod when its connected to the computer. When I click on the itunes icon (which is still on my desktop) to try to open it, I get an error message that reads:
"Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run itunes. Please uninstall itunes and then install itunes again."
I would do this however I just got a new laptop and want to move all my programs including itunes onto it instead. If I try to just connect the ipod to the new laptop and download the newest version of itunes, I'm afraid it will delete my old songs already on the ipod. I know people have had this concern before but the answer is always to back up your songs first. How am I supposed to do this if the itunes is deleted/won't open on my old computer?
*Your help is so so appreciated*!!!

What you really want is the files, not the music really, just the system files so that when you reinstall iTunes you can replace the system files with the ones you backed up, thus saving your settings from your previous installation. As for the music, after you reinstall, you can backup your music from your iPod before you sync it to the new iTunes installation, that way it insures you not to lose all your music. I deleted half my music by accident from in my iTunes Music hard drive that I have separately so as to be able to keep all my music in case of a computer crash, which we both know is a drawback of having a Windows-based PC. Where you want to go is first go to Edit then Preferences then Devices and make sure you have Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically checked, then you can rest assured that you won't lose the music already on the iPod. Then you go to File then Library then Back Up To Disc. This is of course after you have iTunes reinstalled. Just save the system folders with all the system settings from your documents/music/iTunes section. Then uninstall and reinstall. Then transfer the backed up system files back to that folder and overwrite the new files that were created.

  • Installed Itunes on new computer now I cant synch

    Ok -
So I got a new computer and installed Itunes on it. I hooked up my existing ipod and I get a message saying my ipod is synced to another I tunes library. It says it can only be synced to one library at at time. I don't have the old computer anymore. How can I sync my ipod to the new itunes without deleting everything and starting over? There are thousands of songs on my ipod and I dont want to start over. Am i doomed? Help please.
    Becky

OMG... DONT LISTEN TO THAT OTHER PERSON...i had the same problem...when your ipod connects, open it as a drive(it asks "how do you want to open this? type of question) , and drag and drop anything that looks like files...and did you look to the right when it connected? it says "transfer purchases" most people think, "cancel" but i looked, and i didnt have many "purchases" but it sync'd anyways...not everything like pictures, but my movies transferred over, and most of my songs...once itunes opens, under files, it has an option to "add file to library" or other options...try 'em all to save your stuff!!!!
im not a computer head, i just thought it would help you like it helped me...

  • Aging music fan wiped IPOD  when installing itunes onto new laptop on xp

I have just bought a high end sony vio with duo intel running windows xp. I installed itunes and when I synched the ipod I wiped all my tunes.
BUT my ipod still shows about 20% space on memory used so I am pretty sure the songs are still there
Does anyone know how to recover the songs and provide a simple step by step guide on how to do it?
    Your help much appreciated
sony viao   Windows XP   intel duo t2400

Since you have a new computer with (presumably) no songs on it, it was doing exactly what you told it to do. You probably clicked Yes at the box below.
You can try www.yamipod.com and see if it can get the songs off your iPod. Not sure if it will work though.

  • Installing iTunes on new PC

Have new Dell PC and have installed itunes. When I plug my iphone in it starts to sync. However, it never seems to stop. Have given it 6 hrs before I had to unplug and it had nto finished. Also when I try to add something such as a new ringtone and click apply sync it says different itunes phone and do I wish to erase and sync new phone?
Have backed up all my music/photos but not sure abotu the apps as if no other solution given I will sync as new phone and I guess all will be deleted and then I re-add?
Anyone come across this problem before?

Yes. Deauthorize your current computer. Hook up the external HD to your new computer. Add the external HD to your folder list in iTunes. Click on one of your songs in iTunes, and you'll be asked if you want to authorize that computer.
    Done.

I recently purchased a new computer and when I installed iTunes+Quicktime onto the computer, the program doesn't want to open up.
When I click on it, I see the hourglass cursor, then it goes away.
Is it possibly because I also have a program called iPod Access which helps ne to backtrack the songs?
I have tried uninstalling and installing it...no help.
Please advise me as to what is wrong! Thanks very much.

Yes, it's possible this is screwing up iTunes.
What does "backtrack the songs" mean?
