Installing itunes on windows vista

when i try to unistall itunes get the error message itunes could not be
installed because visual basic script (vbscript) is not installed or has been
disabled. make sure vbscript is installed, turn off script blocking in
anti-virus and personal firewall software, re-register vb script, and then
install itunes

(Almost all the songs have exclaimation points, and some won't sync)
Look for this topic above, there might be info there. I am having the same problem since I bought a new computer and I know how to fix it but it will take me WEEKS! You should try to locate your music either in the recycle bin or in a different folder. Its in a different folder in Vista than in XP. You will have to re-associate the files...pain in the @#@!

Trying to install itunes on windows vista and get the following error message: An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKey Token="1fc8b3b9a1e3b",process orArchitecture="x86"". A broken Windows Modules Installer then. It's a bit of an involved fix getting past it, but we've had success here with it in the past.
First, I'd strongly suggest setting up a system restore point.
Now try the Scenario III treatment from the following document:
Windows Update Error 80070424 in Vista
Head back into Windows Update and attempt to get updates again. If they still fail, this time with an 8000FFFF error code, try the following Microsoft document:
    Windows Update error 8000FFFF
If you get Windows Updates flowing again, stock up on any you're behind on (restarting the PC when requested to do so). This may take some time and may have to be done in several batches, depending on how far you've fallen behind. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
After the updates have been installed, restart the PC one more time (in order to ensure that any pending installs requiring a restart have been resolved).
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 0x80070424 this time?

It looks like it's having trouble getting one of the iTunes preference files in. There's a couple in each user account (usually in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes and C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes).
Has a version of iTunes previously been successfully installed on that PC? If so, was it working properly prior to your doing the current installs?
What hard drive is your "Users" folder on? Is it the C drive or somewhere else?
If it's somewhere else, are your Program files also on that other drive or are they on the C drive?

  • Missing CD/DVD drive after installing iTunes w/ Windows Vista

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 laptop. The problem I am having is when I install iTunes my CD/DVD drive disappears. The drive is listed in the device mananger but it is corrupt ( yellow triangle). I can restore the drive by going back to system restore before iTunes was installed. It was sugested by Toshiba that I wait for the Windows Vista/ iPod fix. It has been sometime and there has been no word of a fix. I just bought my laptop in march and my iPod last month and I can not use it unless I load all of music one time and do a systems restore and loose it. It has become very fustrating as all the hot fixes do not apply to Vista but XP. I really need some support from someone. Microsoft charges 95 bucks a hour ( I think) and Toshiba says it is a Apple/Windows problem.
    Thanks-

  • Installing iTunes with Windows Vista Ultimate

I have tried to install iTunes most recent version and others earlier with on my HP Pavillion and I keep getting a message that says I will not be able to import or burn CDs because iTunes did not install correctly. • I am still unable to install itunes in Windows Vista

I have tried to run Fix it 4 times now after doing other things suggested in the Apple community and I am still unable to install itunes. Do you have any other ideas?
I've been uninstalling/reinstalling and using CCcleaner, sfcscannow and nothing seems to correct error msg 2- corrupt files found/unable to fix.  Now what??????
I am using windows Vista.  I NEED help!

nothing seems to correct error msg 2
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Can't install itunes in windows vista

i'm just upgrade my gf's PC from Windows XP to Vista. I find that I can't install itunes. As it said visualbsic script is missing or disabled. How can i solve it??

I think it would be a good idea to scan for malware as malware often interferes with Windows Update.
Download Malware bytes and run a full scan, there is a free version:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
In services, check the Window Update service. It should show as "started" and start up type automatic.
The other thing is to run the system file checker:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
This will attempt to fix problems and if it will not run, that is another clue to the problem.

  • Can't install iTunes in windows vista x64 (error 0x80070002)

I have been encountering some trouble when trying to install iTunes in my Windows Vista 64-bit PC. When I attempt to install it, it gaves me a HRESULT: 0x80070002 error. I have been looking on the internet for a solution to this and have already tried everything. I also have the same error code when trying to make Windows updates.
I was wondering if there is a solution to this problem or do I have to reinstall my OS to get it right.

  • Installing itunes in Windows Vista

I have tried countless times to download itunes and install on my computer and I receive an error message every time that states, "The System Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation". I am the administrator of the computer.
HP   Other OS   Windows Vista Home Premium

acck. no joy with hunting around on that.
the closest thing i've been able to find is a couple of folks getting this message when doing other types of installs, over at the Microsoft newsgroups:
Search Results: The System Administrator has set policies to prevent this install...
one chap there appaaaaarently got past this one by doing a "run as administrator" ... not that we've had luck here with that.
it may be worth posting over there to see if there are any more advanced tips available. (not trying to get rid of you, just trying to get you on the radar screens of folks who are better at Vista permissions than i am.)

  • I can't re install iTunes on Windows Vista- itunes error 7/Windows error 5.

    1.  Delete all Apple software (to start over and reinstall) - I cannot delete Apple Application Support (Access Denied)
    2.  Repair itunes - Same message
    3.  Logged on as Administrator and tried to take ownership of the file that denied permission - Access Denied

  • Cannot install iTunes on Windows Vista

I have an old Windows Vista laptop that I use at work to browse the internet and play my music on iTunes.  After the last iTunes upgrade, I got the following 2 error messages:

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
    2.  Itunes was not installed correctly.  Please resinstall iTunes.
         Error 7 (Windows error 1114).
I have tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it twice, but I still get the error messages.
    Any suggestions?
