Windows XP Pro   service pack 2

okay. let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.

  • Fix for VBScript Error When Installing iTunes/Quicktime on Vista

With GREAT THANKS to http://www.keathmilligan.net. I was able to fix this problem by performing the following steps:
The iTunes/QuickTime installer will fail with a "VBScript not installed" error on some installations of Vista. I'm not sure exactly what leads to this situation as it does not seem to affect all Vista users, but there is a relatively simple fix:
Click Start, All Programs, Accessories then RIGHT click on Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator"
change directory to your windows\system32 directory
    enter the following command:
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll
This will re-register VBScript and allow the iTunes installer to run.
After almost pulling my hair out for a month, this worked like a charm and I was able to install iTunes/quicktime with the latest version and get to hear my music again after a month of trying everything. THANKS KEATH

  • Error 0x800736FD when installing iTunes + QuickTime

Well, I finally caved. I bought my first digital portable media player. The people on the street were throwing things at me, and my doctor said he might have to operate my shoulder. The boombox had to go!
So, I'm trying to install iTunes. My Dell machine came with an "Apple Software Update" program installed. It's been bugging me to install iTunes since I got it, so this time I clicked OK and let do its thing.
The automatic updater "Apple Software Update" is trying to install "iTunes + QuickTime" version 7.4.3. It goes through the download phase OK, then starts the installation. After about 10 minutes (wherein the installation has not progressed in the last 9 minutes), an error message appears in a separate window:
    iTunes + QuickTime
    (X) An error has occured during the installation of Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc...",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" ,processorArchitecture="x86". Refer to Help for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD.
Has anyone seen this before or know how I can get around it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Stephen

Have you tried downloading iTunes yourself and installing it manually?
You can download the iTunes installer from here:

I was today invited to upgrade my iTunes when I logged on.  Update failed. Every time I now try to open iTunes I get error messages.  Second message reads "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7. Windows error 126". I now can't sync my iPhoneand I am worried that if I re-install I will lose all my contacts, calendar, notes, etc.

I too had this problems (Windows 8.1).  A few weeks ago after the previous update before this version of itunes, I'd had a problem with the itunes store crashing and at that time I followed instructions to copy QTMovieWin.dll to the itunes folder, which fixed the store crashing.
Today I fixed the problem by:
    Delete QTMovieWin.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Uninstall ALL Apple Software using Control Panel / Programs and Features.  I uninstalled:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple Application Support
    Apple Software Update
    Bonjour
    Delete the folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
    Restart the computer
    Reinstall QuickTime
    Reinstall iTunes
Everything works GREAT now, including the iTunes store.  You will not lose your media files, I got everything back, all my settings, playlists, etc.

Got new iPod Nano for Christmas and I STILL cannot get it to show up in iTunes - it has showed up in my device manager - with an over the icon - "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Drivers. - Then another error - Wizard cannot find the software to instal -(my iPod did not come with a disk!!!) I have done the "R's" several times! Downloaded and installed and uninstalled several x's from iTunes. Changed USB locations - I have three to choose from. Now - I am 'repairing' the latest installation from iTunes and I get this "itunes + quicktime error message - service 'ipod service' (ipod service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". Any ideas??? I'm not a computer genious....but I'm not a complete newbie, either! I am so FRUSTRATED!!!! This should be that difficult - I added additional RAM and it was a breeze and successful! This is just ridiculous! Any one have any other ideas???? I have read so much - even emptied the battery and recharged!!! HELP! Please! I just wanna hear some music!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Thanks - I got it to install by going into 'run' to get to permissions, etc. So that seems OK - but my computer is still not acknowledging iPod software and for some reason iTunes is now showing 'the URL could not be opened' when I go into Help for iPod. It's still not showing up in Itunes, either

Should the advice above not fix things for you...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Cannot install iTunes\Quicktime, no solutions have worked HELP!!!

I have been trying to install iTunes\Quicktime for several weeks now. I have tried EVERYTHING list in these threads:
    Uninstalled.
Deleted all related files and regkeys.
    Ran Windows Installer Cleanup utility.
    Re-install Windows Installer 3.1
    Re-install InstallShield v 11.
    Re-register dlls
Remove all temp files from all directories listed in these threads.
    Still receive the same error:
Error 1714.The older version of QuickTime cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1610.
This is the same for QT v 7.0, 7.1, even the old 6.x versions.
    Please, HELP!

Have you tried turning off any antivirus and antispyware utilities on your system prior to performing the cleanup and attempting reinstallation? There have been scattered reports that some security utilities block proper cleanup of the Windows system registry.

    Hey sndlot,
Follow the steps in this link to resolve the issue:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so arearticularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

apple application was not found, apple application support is required to run ituneshelper. please uninstall itunes and install itunes again error 2. What does this mean?

You can try installing 7-Zip (free), then right-click on the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file to unpack its contents, and install AppleApplicationSupport.msi as a standalone component. It may still not install successfully, but if it doesn't you may get a more useful error message regarding the reason why.

  • "iTunesHelper was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes." Error 7

For a few weeks now(almost a month), I have been trying to get my iTunes to work. When the new iPhones came out, it went haywire. It brings up an error that I cannot open iTunes because "iTunesHelper was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes." Error 7. I have reinstalled, uninstalled using Best Removal Tool as well as the Rev whatever its called that they reccommended (I've done this like 15-20 times at least). I've run CCleaner, etc and nothing works. I've ensured stuff is updated, turned on/off, etc and nothing. I've logged in as the admin account (personal laptop, but made the admin thing unhidden through cmd.exe) Can someone PLEASE help me because this is getting old and I'm really ****** that I can't get this to work following everything they have stated on the support forums.
I have an iPod touch, not an iPhone btw. Just making sure I specify that. I don't have it plugged in when I'm installing either.

I had to wait till the second error popped up so I could update. I am also getting another error "The program can't start because CoreFoundation.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I have run system repairs galore as well - nothing wrong. When I look in the programs downloaded and installed, the iTunesHelper.exe is no longer in that list. When this issue first started, it was, but I uninstalled everything like the forums said, and nothing.

  • Problem installing iTunes + QuickTime

So, I uninstalled QuickTime (last week) and then installed QuickTime Alternative, because it's smaller in size and I don't use QuickTime at all. That's probably what's caused my problem, and here it is.
So today I double clicked on the iTunes shortcut and I got a pop-up saying 'iTunes needs QuickTime in order to run. Please uninstall & install iTunes + QuickTime'-or something like that. So I uninstalled iTunes but now I can't install it. It freezes during the installation at 'Copying New Files'. What do I do?

    hi RockDad!
let's try enlisting some additional technical help with this one.
let's try getting a installer log to someone who can interpret installer logs.
Start menu -> Run... In the text field of the dialog that comes up, type in "cmd" and hit return.
In the command prompt dialog that comes up, find the iTunes installer on your desktop and drag it to this window. Then on the same line type in a space and then the following:
    /Verbose"c:\log.txt" /V"ENABLE_QTLOGGING=TRUE"
There is no space between the e in Verbose and the double quote ("). There is no space between the V"Enable...
    Hit return.
The installer will create two log files:
    C:\log.txt and C:\qt.log
Find those files and send them to this email address Put the URL to this discussion thread into the email, so that the person who gets it has some context. Let them know the version of itunes you’re trying to install, too … in general, give as much info as you can.
    love, b

  • Cannot install itunes, getting error message 8.0.50727.6195

cannot install itunes, getting error message 8.0.50727.6195.  Any ideas?

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

When I unrar'd itunes installer and tried installing just the application support, but that too got stuck at "Publishing Product information". This is making life very hard for me.
