Installing iTunes Without Internet

I have a friend who recently got an old iPod mini. Unfortunately he doesn't have iTunes on his computer and he doesn't have an internet connection at home right now. Is there any way to burn him a copy of iTunes onto a cd and install it on his machine that way? Or something like that? I have no idea what version of Windows he's running right now, but I'm sure I can find out, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, you can burn a CD. You need to know what version WIndows, and whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Win 95, 98, Me, & XP 64-bit have never been supported.
Just curious, what your friend expects to put on the iPod. If they rip their own CDs, they are going to have to enter each track manually because itunes won't be able to connect to the Gracenote/CDDB database to get CD info.
Entering each track will get tedious very quickly!
If they already have music on the PC's hard drive, they can just add it to itunes and they will be good to go!

  • I have windows 8 and need to install itunes (without internet)

I've got the set up.exe file through another computer (latest version downloaded) and have put on desktop of windows 8, but when i go to use the set up it say  "this app can't run on your PC" find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher" any clues?
My main reason for wanting to put iTunes on the windows 8 computer is so i can use my iPhone 4 as a hotspot, I've seen that it won't work unless iTunes is installed....
feel like I'm going around in circles!
    Any help would be amazing!

    That is not true.
If you have the installer, iTunes will install without an active Internet connection.
The OP must have the correct installer for the OS on the computer.
The installer for Windows 8 64-bit can be found here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

  • Install itunes without bonjour or apple mobile device support

For my company having bonjour is not an option and is considered a security threat, even after uninstalling bonjour it still appears in the registry. Therefore it was nessesary to put on our company server the msi file for itunes.
    To install itunes WITHOUT bonjour:
1.) Download the itunes setup exe file.
2.) Download 7-zip or winrar, and install.
3.) Right click the exe file and extract the files.
4.) Delete bonjour and or mobile device support (if you perfer not to have an iphone service running all the time)
5.) Run the extracted itunes.msi file.
Now the only service that will be installed is the ipod service, which is better than having 3 services just to put songs on your ipod.

Someone may have a brainwave at Apple and give people a choice on what iTunes installs with an optional gui installer. I'm getting fed up with installing software that constantly want to put other unnecessary products on my system.
I always try yo install using a custom install (where I can) option as opposed to "Express Setup" or "Typical Install" because invarably they come with a "very useful" toolbar or default search engine.
I do not want to install Safari an my machine, in fact I would go so far as to say I will never install it on principle. Everytime the iTunes update window comes up, the option to install Safari is automatically ticked, I find this grossly offensive and arrogant by Apple.

  • How to install itunes without cd/dvd rom support?

    Hi,
Everybody knows when you install iTunes to any windows device, you will have a problem with your dvdrw afterwards. Till day, every installation i made end up with losing my dvd-rom.
There is 3 solution to this problem, but those solutions never worked for me and last time i used my company notebook without it's dvdrom for over a year.
Now, i reinstall my notebook with Windows 8.1 Update 1 and i want to install iTunes for my music but i can' let iTunes do the same thing again.
Is there anyway install iTunes without cd-dvd 3rd party/usb/firmware driver support?
I search on net and i found this link but it's way too old
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA44491?viewlocale=en_US

QuickTime is required for iTunes to run. You can think of iTunes as a media manager "front end" to QuickTime which handles the actual playing of the media.
Safari was an optional install when I installed iTunes on my Windows system. I wasn't forced to install Safari. MobileMe is also no longer automatically installed, though it will update if it finds an existing installation. I didn't get it forced on me when I installed on my Vista system.

Other than for purchased movies/TV shows, yes. You will need the internet to homeshare protected content though.

  • Can I update iOs using itunes without internet connection?

I am using an ipad mini 2, second generation. I plugged it in to itunes and there was an update avaible for ios 8. Can I update iOs using itunes without internet connection? Thank you

iTunes needs an internet connection to download the update if it has not already. Then it needs to verify the update with Apple servers prior to installation.
So in short, no, you do need at least some form of internet access to update.

  • HOW TO: Install Itunes without Quicktime/Bonjour - Windows 7

You need iTunes without the bloat? Don't know what the bloat is? I'll help you. Now I don't know if this has been explained elsewhere, I only found some older topics and google results that didn't explain all the points required so I'm redoing it.
_NOTE: DO THIS ON THE DESKTOP_ (You'll see why later ;D)
    First is the Preperation;
Get the appropriate iTunes (my instructions are from the point of view of 64bit but they won't differ all that much)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Go here and download the newest one (at time of writing thats QT Lite 4.1.0):
    http://www.vistacodec.com/fc/QT_Lite-410.exe
Please download/move/save these to the desktop.
    The Extraction
Right click on the iTunes64Setup.exe [iTunesSetup.exe for 32bit]
Navigate to your extraction program, I'm using 7zip so I navigate to "Extract Here". I'm sure you can go it alone if you don't use 7zip (because more fool you)
Then we will have a bunch of exe's and msi's on the desktop, of which we now need to delete several.
    This is the Deletion;
If you don't want both Quicktime and Bonjour, which I'll assume you don't because they impact performance and limit your control of media files, then you need to delete:
    Bonjour64.msi
    Quicktime64.msi
If you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch then skip this one point (though I have an iPod Touch I don't yet intend to use it with iTunes so I still deleted this, after all you can install it later from this single file). Delete:
    AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
Now this is an important one, all updates must be done manually in this exact same manner, just come back here and follow the instructions again, otherwise iTunes will include the bloat in the update. Delete:
    AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
(Ignore SetupAdmin.exe, because I don't know what it does :D)
    Almost there, but first it's the +Linux Experience+;
In you're start menu there should be a "Command Prompt" shortcut, click it. If not don't worry, on your start menu click "Run" and type in:
    cmd.exe
Press enter and Bob's your uncle.
Otherwise right click on your desktop in empty space, highlight "New", select "Shortcut" and the location is:
    %windir%\system32\cmd.exe
When that's done just click the shortcut and Fanny's your aunt.
Now you'll notice that each line begins with:
    C:\Users\YOURNAME>
That's because it's the location this terminal is currently navigated to, like a web browser or the plain old windows explorer, just text based though.
We need to change the directory you are in and the command for this conveniently is:
    cd
And this is why I told you to do it all on the Desktop, because now all you have to do is change directory to the Desktop, which is one folder away. So, type this in the terminal (that's the command prompt window):
    cd Desktop
You'll notice that the prefix has changed to:
    C:\Users\YOURNAME\Desktop>
    That's good
Keep this window open and move on boys and girls.
    Next, the biggie, +Installation Part One+;
We're mostly borrowing from this lovely persons thread, so I ought to give it a mention:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1704004&tstart=15
Now we follow the last step on the thread linked, in case you're a philistine here it is...
In that (command prompt) terminal window, type:
    iTunes64.msi /passive
For those with 32bit i can only imagine it would be:
    iTunes.msi /passive
Then just sit back and let it run silently until you recieve an error message pertaining to the failure of iTunes without "Apple Aplication Support", when this arises just click ok or whatever shuts it up and move to the next step.
    Lastly, finally, is +Installation Part Deux+;
Double click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and just follow it through leaving everything as it is.
Then, remember that other download I got you to do? QT Lite? Well double click on that and install it. At the end tick the "Configure Settings" box and just tweak them to be supaqwik, like maximising the web cache or whatever. Use your judgment.
When that's done click apply/ok and... we're done!
Just click/double click the itunes icon and you'll see an improvement straight away.
Sorry if this tutorial was a bit too much like a Quentin Tarantino film for ya' but I gotta keep my brain from leaking out my ears, somehow
Enjoy, and if it's been done before I just hope it hasn't been done better.
I looked all over the internet and using the linked thread and some smarts; I got here, with you, and iTunes sans bloat.

  • Airport Extreme streaming iTunes without Internet

    Hello.
I no longer have Internet access in my home. I do still have a MacBook Pro streaming 2TB of iTunes media through an AirPort Extreme to two AppleTV's, and 5 iPhones. Music, movies, and TV shows are slow to load since the loss of the introwebs.
I have read about switching to "Bridge Mode" in airport utility but am not sure what this would do other than possibly allow my iPhones to simultaneously connect to my network and have 3G access.
Any ideas on how to speed up the streaming of content?
Your sage advice is greatly appreciated.

I no longer have Internet access in my home. I do still have a MacBook Pro streaming 2TB of iTunes media through an AirPort Extreme to two AppleTV's, and 5 iPhones. Music, movies, and TV shows are slow to load since the loss of the introwebs.
Just so I understand correctly, are you saying since you no longer have Internet access, the overall streaming performance on your local wireless network has decreased? If so, Internet streaming and local network streaming are not directly related and, whether or not, you have Internet access should not matter.
Without Internet access, the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) would not get a Public IP address, but it would have a Private IP address of 10.0.1.1 ... and it would still be providing wireless clients connected to it with Private IP addresses in the 10.0.1.2 - 10.0.1.200 range.
Please compare your AEBSn's settings with the following to see if making any of the changes will help with your local network streaming performance:
AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
Wireless Mode: Create a wireless network
Wireless Network Name: <enter a desired Network Name or SSID>
Radio Mode: <unless you have non-"n" clients that you need your network to support, I would suggest setting this to "802.11n only (5 GHz) - 802.11n only (2.4 GHz)>
    Channel: Automatic
    Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
    Internet > Internet Connection
    Connect Using: Ethernet
Connection Sharing: Distribute a range of IP addresses
    Internet > TCP/IP
    Configure IPv4: Manually
    IP Address: 10.0.1.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router Address: 10.0.1.1
    DNS Server(s): <leave blank>
    Domain Name: <leave blank>
    Internet > DHCP
DHCP Beginning Address: <leave default or change to a desired starting address>
DHCP Ending Address: <leave default or change to a desired ending address>
    Advanced > Logging & Statistics
    Allow SNMP (unchecked)
Your AEBSn will still report at least three errors: 1) Configuration of WAN, 2) SNMP over WAN, and 3) Double NAT. These can all be safely ignored (by disabling them in the AirPort Utility) to stop the AEBSn's status light from flashing amber in this configuration.

  • Can I install itunes without formatting ipod?

    Alo.
    Ok...
so my job keeps me on the road constantly, ie: not at the 'home' computer, where I first added some songs to my 60g ipod.
What my question is, is there any way that I can put the CD in, instal itunes, and continue past the step telling me to format without actually formatting.
I've been looking for an answer for about 2 hours now, and can't see any way to do this, short of going to the home computer, and changing the settings to 'manual' instead of 'automatic'.
I would really like to put more songs onto my ipod, but don't want to lose what I have on there, and don't want to travel far to the 'home' computer in order to change the settings.
Is there a solution? Pleeeaase help me!

    Hi Noel-
Although I may not understand exactly what you want to do, it sounds like you want to use your iPod on both computers without losing the music already on your iPod. You need to set the iPod to manual updating, but you can do this on any computer that has iTunes installed.
First, you can download iTunes by itself from this link and install it.
Then, to keep your iPod from automatically syncing with iTunes when you connect it to your computer, hold down the CTRL-SHIFT keys until iTunes fully launches. You'll then be able to go into iPod Options and change the syncing to manual.

  • CAN I INSTALL ITUNES WITHOUT NEW QUICKTIME?

I would like to intstall the latest ITunes with touching my version of Quicktime (7.2) as my editing program (Avid Media Composer) is only supported with version 7.2 Quicktime. I have Quicktime Pro and cannot uninstall and re-install as I believe my Pro version then becomes non Pro which my editing program requires.
    Why does Apple do this?

I don't wont to bicker about this but i don't think that is the case. I installed itunes and it didn't install quick time.I went to the web sight and had to install Quick time separately.

  • Itunes without internet

my mother just got an ipod for christmas, but she does not have internet at home. She basically wants to use it to import all her cds and nothing else. so my question- Can i just burn a copy of itunes to a cd, have her install it, and then have her burn all her cds? This will work, right?

Well, yes. However, what she won't have access to without an internet connection is the Gracenote database. So, when she puts a CD in, all she'll see is Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. She'll have to type in all of the album information by hand. It's perfectly doable as those of us who started importing CDs before Gracenote was available can attest to. It's just a bit tedious.
