Installing iWork '06

Hello: hope you can help me.
I'd like to use iWork on my Mac Mini, and my question is this: I presently have the '05 trial version loaded as part of the applications supplied with the computer. This expired some time ago.
Do I have to un-install this trial version or can I just install a copy of iWork '06 'over the top' of it? I was aware that, had I bought iWork '05, I'd have simply keyed in the product code number to unlock it - will this be the same with '06 or will I need to fully install it from the DVD?
Many thanks for your help.

I was aware that, had I bought iWork '05, I'd
have simply keyed in the product code number to
unlock it - will this be the same with '06 or will I
need to fully install it from the DVD?
Many thanks for your help.
I know with the trial version of iWork '06 when you initially install it you have the option to either buy or trial it. If you choose the "buy" option you will be taken to the online Apple Store relevant to your country where you will have the choice to buy the product code (key) which is emailed to you immediately or order a fresh retail boxed version.
I chose the immediate cd key purchase option which unlocks the trial version to be a full version. It costs just the same and was easier to do.
I hope that answers that part of your question?

  • Is it possible to re-install iWork 09 without the physical CD?

I bought iWork 09 two years ago from an Apple store in the UK but have since moved abroad to Australia.
I installed the software on my MacBook (late 2008 model) but have since had to replace the hard drive so it is no longer installed.
Is it possible to re-install iWork 09 without needing to pay to re-download it from the App store? I have the serial numbers and barcodes but not the physical disc with me.
    Thanks

The physical DVD required no serial number. If you have lost that yes you will need to buy the M.A.S version with the consolation that it is cheap here and can be installed on all your Macs at no extra charge.
If you have a serial number it is possible you bought the downloadable version, in which case use that to install and use the serial number when prompted.

  • I recently bought an iPhone 6   how do i install iWork's on my macbook pro for free?

My reading of the offer is the iOS versions are free with an iOS device, and the Mac versions are free with a Mac purchase.

  • How can I install iWork '09 on new MacBook with Lion?

I have an install DVD for iWork '09 (9.0.3), and I've been running iWork on my iMac for several years without a problem, even after upgrading to Lion. Now I have a new MacBook Air with Lion preloaded and am trying to install iWork on the new machine. I was able to install from the DVD using drive sharing, but when I try to open Pages, Numbers or Keynote, I get a message that says "Pages cannot be opened because of a problem" -- presumably because I need to update iWork for Lion. After downloading the iWork 9.1 update, I tried to open it but get an error message that says "A newer version of Keynote has already been installed."
This doesn't make sense to me, since the version I installed from the DVD is definitely older. How can I update iWork to run on my new machine?
By the way, I tried just copying the programs from my iMac with AirDrop, and I get the first error message I mentioned above.

    MN,
I don't know why the Drive Sharing idea didn't work. I can think of reasons that copying with AirDrop wouldn't work.
At some point you may just want to give up and purchase Pages using the Mac App Store. It's ridiculously cheap and easy.
I worry that you have so much inoperable iWork stuff on this computer that it needs a good clean-up, whichever way you decide to go.
Yvan Koenig has a script to do the purging of old copies of iWork files that you can run before you make any more attempts at installing iWork or any of its components. It the last item on this page as of this writing...

  • How do I install iWork disk on MacBook Pro with Retina Display?

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro with Retina Display and would like to install iWork on it. I do not have the device needed to use disks on this laptop as it doesn't have an optical drive. Is there any way I could download some sort of software and use a key to identify my disk? Or something along those lines because I'm sure apple would have thought that this problem would occur.
    Thanks

That's why Apple no longer sells disks. All its software is now available on the App Store. So you can either purchase/download the iWork components from there, or, if you have access to another Mac with an optical drive, share the DVD from that across the network (System Preferences - Sharing - turn CD/DVD sharing on) and install that way.

  • I need to install iWork 09 so I can open the many pages document files that will NOT open under the new pages 5. Mavericks will not accept an install from my iWork's 09 CD. How do I get around this?

I need to install iWork 09 so I can open the many pages document files that will NOT open under the new pages 5. Mavericks will not accept an install from my iWork's 09 CD. How do I get around this?

Hi, I'm helping StringSinger2 with this problem.
The previously installed version is Pages 3.0.3 (the same as from iWork 08). This version (Pages 3.0.3/iWork 08) is incompatible with Pages 5.
That is why it would be helpful to install iWork 09, which is the version between the two. It will open the older 08 files, and its saved files are readable by the new Pages5.
    SO...
When I try to install iWorks 09 from my retail DVD the error message is "the installer is damaged". (I know the dvd is good, I installed iWorks09 to my laptop today.) Is the "installer" part of the system files? And - If that is damaged is there a patch for that?
    Many Thanks!

  • I installed iworks on my mac pro.  how do i get the disk out of my laptop

I installed iworks on my mac and I don't know how to get the disk out.  please tell me how to get the disk out of my mac.  thanks

The Mac Pro is not a laptop. If you're talking about a MacBook Pro, you hold down the eject key at the far top right of the keyboard until the disk ejects. You can also drag the disk's icon from the desktop to the trash.

  • Installed iwork, and everything is purple, or invisible. Help!

I installed iwork' 08 on my new macbook, and its useless. Everything is purple, or invisible. I have it installed on my mac mini, and it works fine. What gives? I've tried to reinstall, and still no luck. I'm guessing it's some kind of security issue.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
If you're really using 10.5.2 as your profile says, run Software Update & update to the latest version of Leopard, 10.5.8. If you're using Snow Leopard, use the Mac OS 10.6.2 combo update. This fixes a problem with the Hoefler Text font that is not fixed using the delta update (10.6.1 > 10.6.2).
Second, make sure your iWork applications are updated. For iWork '08 that is Pages 3.0.3 & Numbers 1.0.3. For iWork '09 it's Pages 4.0.3 & Numbers 2.0.3. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

  • I have installed iworks 9 now wont open up, i have installed iworks 9 now wont open up, i have installed iworks 9 now wont open up

i have installed iworks 9 and tried to open it up and it tells me to purchase serial number but i installed from a cd

You cannot completely delete iWork by moving the iWork '09 folder to the Trash. Instead, use Yvan Koenig's script:
              •          Go to http://www.box.com/s/00qnssoyeq2xvc22ra4k
              •          Choose public_YK > for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items
              •          Click on uninstall iWork '09.zip, decompress it, open it in AppleScript Editor and click the Run button

  • My installed iWork '09 not recognized by Mac App Store

I'm hoping to receive the free iWork upgrade. I have iWork '09 installed from DVD's. The Mac App store does not recognize them. Is there a fix?

Posted this in another thread but think this may be helpfull:
After hours of searching and testing many solutions people said to work for them to update (but didn't work for me), I managed to get all iWork apps in the app store and to update for free with these steps:
    1. Install iWork'09 from CD/DVD if you don't have iWork installed
    2. Update iWork'09 to version 9.3 manually (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563)
    3. Change your system language to english in system preferences -> languages
    4. Reboot and log in to guest account
    5. Open the Mac App Store and log in
    6. At this point you should be able to update directly from the featured page (or the app pages)
    7. Install all updates, reboot and log in to your normal user account and change the language back to whatever you like
Your iWork apps should show in the list of your buyed apps
    Hope this helps

  • Installing iWork (from disc) to new Mini

I'm trying to install iWork '06 from disc on to my new Mac Mini.  I'm using my old iMac as a shared DVD drive, and the Mini can see it, and can see the iWork disc, but when I click on the disc, I get and error that says, "The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “iWork ’06” can’t be found."
What's the workaround here?  I installed Logic from discs in this way, so I know the process works.  How do I the iWorks to install?
(If Apple would simply let us transfer our retail licenses to the App store, life would be easy.  But no...)

iWork '06 will update fine straightaway to '09 once it is installed.  I just need to get it installed.  Anybody have any useful information or tips?
Time has value. You will likely expend $60 of your personal time trying to arm wrestle with iWork '06, when you could have invested that sum in newly purchased Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from the App Store. And, for a fraction of the time investment.

    It's just a temporary filler.
If you open a doc using it, I guess that it's not to lease the filler in the placeholders but that you will replace it by your own text.

  • Install iWork w/o external drive

What are the ways or options to install iWorks on a MacBook Air w/o the external drive?

You can share the DVD drive on your Mac in System Preferences > Sharing.  Then put the iWork disk in and use that drive from the MBair when you're on the same network.  Look for it in Finder on the MBair under Devices - Remote Disc.

  • Re install iwork

how do I re install iwork ' 09

    Hi Edward,
How did you originally install it? Did you buy it and install it? Did it come pre-installed from Apple? Or did you buy it and download it through the App Store?
If you bought it as a separate purchase then you would have received the DVD installation media. You'll need access to an external DVD drive to reinstall it or you can use 'Remote Disc' in conjunction with another computer on your network (Mac or PC).
If you bought it as a pre-installed option from Apple then you would have received the DVD installation media in the box with your computer. You'll need access to an external DVD drive to reinstall it or you can use 'Remote Disc' in conjunction with another computer on your network (Mac or PC).
If you bought it from the App Store, you can re-download it by viewing your previous downloads and redoing the download/install.
