Installing iWork (from disc) to new Mini

I'm trying to install iWork '06 from disc on to my new Mac Mini.  I'm using my old iMac as a shared DVD drive, and the Mini can see it, and can see the iWork disc, but when I click on the disc, I get and error that says, "The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “iWork ’06” can’t be found."
What's the workaround here?  I installed Logic from discs in this way, so I know the process works.  How do I the iWorks to install?
(If Apple would simply let us transfer our retail licenses to the App store, life would be easy.  But no...)

iWork '06 will update fine straightaway to '09 once it is installed.  I just need to get it installed.  Anybody have any useful information or tips?
Time has value. You will likely expend $60 of your personal time trying to arm wrestle with iWork '06, when you could have invested that sum in newly purchased Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from the App Store. And, for a fraction of the time investment.

  • I need to install iWork 9 on my new mac that has Pages 5.2 that will not open my older Pages docs. How do I ensure that the 9 will open them instead of the 5.2

I need to install iWork 9 on my new iMac that currently has Pages 5.2 which will not open my older Pages docs. I do not want the 5.2 to interfere with the opening of my docs in the 9. How do I ensure this without removing the 5.2 (that might improve with age)? If I rename the 5.2 for now, will that work? Thank you for any assistance.

Just install iWork '09 and make sure you update it to the latest v4.3:

You can run both Pages '09 and Pages 5.2 but will need to right click on your files to open them with the right version, because all Pages files have the same file extension: .pages.

  • I have a white Macbook 2009 on OSX Lion. It came with the OSX Snow Leopard CD, I erased the HDD and am trying to install the OSX from disc but am getting "cannot install OSX from disc" message. What can I do?

I have a white Macbook 2009 on OSX Lion. It came with the OSX Snow Leopard CD, I erased the HDD and am trying to install the OSX from disc but am getting "cannot install OSX from disc" message. What can I do?
I got the macbook from a friend a few years ago and it already had OSX Lion installed. Whenever it boots from the Snow Leopard disc it says it cannot install from disc. Is there anythingI can do or should I take it to an Apple store to get them to boot OSX Lion for me?

Insert your Snow Leopard disc and restart, press and hold the C key as soon as you hearthe startup chime, hold C until you see the Apple Logo. When your computer starts up you'll be at the first install screen, choose your language and click the arrow to go to the next screen. This screen has a menu bar, from the Utilities menu select Disk Utility, select your hard drive, this is the one with the manufacturers name or numbers, click the partition tab and then delete any existing partitions by selecting them and clicking the minus. In the drop down box select one partition and click apply. Name your hard drive and click erase. When it's done quit DU and go back to the installer, install Snow Leopard. When the installer is done and the computer is back up and running run Software Update to get to 10.6.8

  • Trouble installing CS6 from disc

    Hi,
I'm trying to install CS6 from disc onto my Windows Vista 64 bit laptop.  There doesn't seem to be a Setup.exe file?  Has anyone experience this problem and have a solution?
I've tried downloading CS6 from Adobe and enter my serial number from my box.  I get a message stating my serial number is invalid.  Why is that?
    Appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

According to the Adobe website, CS6 products do not support Vista
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-system-requirements.html#CS6_Design_ Standard_system_requirements
Win XP or 7 (or 8) only.
To run CS6, you'll have to upgrade your operating system or your computer.

  • Help! Can't download Logic Studio 8 from disc on newer Mac mini.

This is my first post, and I'm a long time Mac lover, but am not super great at knowing my system as well as I should, and am only fair at "tech speak". I just upgraded to a Mac mini with a 2.5 GHz Intel i5, and am running Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b). I have Logic 8 from my previous system that I want to download from disc to my new system (my old Power PC iMac is gone in a hand-me-down, so it is not available). I popped in the install disc, and it came up with a message that says Power PC software is no longer supported. I have been looking at other posts trying to ascertain what to do, and have been seeing information about Rosetta, using older versions of OSX, running parallel systems, and all sorts of other possible fixes from varying years of postings. I am wondering if there is anything I can do, that doesn't take a boat load of cash, to make this work on my current set up. As well, I want to again apologize to all you Mac Masters out there if I seem like a noob to some of this, it's because I am. I would appreciate any help you can give, and thank you all in adavnce.

    Hi

  • Can I install IWorks 9 on my new MacBook Pro along with the free version now included ?

I have IWorks 09 for my Mac desktop. I'm purchasing a MacBook Pro shortly and would like to have the same version of IWorks on both PCs. Can I install IWorks 09 on the MacBook which comes with the new version of IWorks pre-installed ? Or, can I delete the free version and install the 09 version ? I'm relatively new to Macs so this is probably a beginner question.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
New Macs don't come with iWork preinstalled. You have to download it from the Mac App Store.
What you can do is to use Migration Assistant to transfer the files you want, and include Applications, so your iWork apps will be transferred. You will be asked to transfer files from another PC or Mac during the setup of the MacBook Pro.
Then, open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and download the new iWork applications versions free of charge. By doing this, you will have the old and the new version

If you plug in an iPod that auto syncs to another library, you will get a pop up telling you it is synced to another library and do you want to instead sync it to this library. "Yes" *WILL ERASE* everything on the iPod. "NO" will leave everything on the iPod alone but you won't be able to do anything with the iPod on that library.
If you instead, change your iPod from Automatic update to Manual updating, then you can plug it into either computer and add stuff from either library to the iPod. Downside is that you have to do everything manually (adding to or removing from the iPod) and you won't get information transferred from the iPod back into the libraries like play count, ratings, etc.

  • IWork from old to new Mac, problem occurred.

    Greetings,
iWork I have bought years ago on CD and installed on MB-Pro.
    Now I have a MB-Air.
Since the Air has no CD/DVD player I transferred iWork from Pro to Air.
Starting up Pages (i.e.) on the Air I get this message:
I can't find the installer (also through a search. iWork search gives: iWork folder containing: Keynote, Numbers, Pages apps)
The DVD player of the Pro is broken.
I rather not repurchase or buy an update.
I rather not Download due expenses ($40.00 per GB) (Sitting in a cafe or neighbour i.e. to Download is not an option)
Is there a solution to get iWork working properly from this situation?
    Thanks!

I never wrote that applications can't be updated when they are stored in a non standard location.
I wrote that iWork applications, when delivered as a single package, must be stored together in a given folder for such process.
At this time they weren't delivered as single separated apps but as a package.
In fact this feature apply only to iWork '09.
It's because for this package, updaters applied to the three embedded applications.
Only the late update was a Keynote only one.
For iWork '08, there were separated updaters for each applications so, installing them out of their original folder wasn't a problem.
The fact that you forget to copy the resources when you wanr to work from an other system is not an Apple problem, it's yours.
I repeat that you were wrong and that you didn't understood what you were writing about, because the shared folder, the one which must be copied, is not the one which you described with :
upon first run, the app creates its folder in Application Support if need be.
    The shared folder:
    Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:iWork '09:
    or
    Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:iWork '09:
is not created at application's first launch, it's created by the installer during the installation process.
The one which you described is :
    Macintosh HD:Users:<userAccount>:Library:Application Support:iWork:
For someone understanding the way iWork is installed, the copy process is perfectly neat and clear.
It is more efficient than installing then apply the required updates which, to be up to date require :
    install iWork
    apply iWork update9.1
    apply keynote update 5.1.1

  • How do I install iWork from my old MacBook on my new iMac?

I bought a multi license iWork cd back in 2009 and I want to install it on my new iMac. Is there any way to install it without using the remote disk option? Thanks!

Assuming you have one of the new models without an optical drive, you can either use remote disk from your older MacBook or buy a DVD player to attach to the new iMac...not a bad option if you are planning to burn DVDs.
You could also try to create a USB flash drive copy of the iWork disk and use that for the installation.

  • Trying to install Sims 3 from disc on new Macbook Pro

I've had the Sims 3 on CD ROM (for Mac and PC) for a few years and recently upgraded from an old white Macbook to a new Macbook Pro (the non retina display one). I pop the disc in and click install, but it always freezes on "Installing 3 out of 237 files" and never moves. It says "about 17 minutes" but won't move even 40 minutes later. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this thing to work?
