Installing J2SE 1.4.2_05 on Windows 2000

Hi all,
I have been trying to install J2SE 1.4.2_05 on Windows 2000, ( the program for installing the same had been downloaded from java.sun.com site) the size of the file which i downloaded was of 356Kb.
When i tried to install the same i got an error saying Error 1606 :could not access network location http://java.sun.com/webapps/download/getfile/1.4.2_05-b04/windows-i586/sd142000.cab . While on the same network when i tried to install on some other machine it didnt gave me any error, the installation went on wery smoothly.
Any suggestions or ideas regarding the same are highly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance.

It might have been the network. Why don't you download the complete thing and install instead of that remote installer?

  • Installing SQL Server 2008 Express on windows 2000 server ?

Is is possible to install SQL Express 2008 on a Windows 2000 machine. Has anybody come across any issues doing this. any advice would appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Jayce.

    Hi Jayce,
The web page "Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2008 R2" does not list Windows 2000 as a compatability option as follows; -
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506.aspx#Express32
The earliest desktop operating system listed is Windows XP.
So I understand you can't successfully install SQL Express 2008 on a Windows 2000 machine.
    Kind Regards,
    Kieran.

I've installed SAP in my PC with windows 2000 server family... I want to upgrade my OS to XP. Can it be possible without unmounting SAP??? Please help me.

    Hi Pratap,
SAP doesn't work with XP, it works only server Operating System.
But u can instal XP in the system without currupting the SAP.
Make sure that your HDD having atleast 3 partitions.
The first two partintions (Ex.C:/& D:/) may have 2000 Server and SAP respectively.
In the 3rd Partition (Ex.E:/) u can instal XP. but better to not touch 1st two Partitions
To Instal XP follow these steps.
    Insert XP OS CD
    Restat the System
    follow installation procedure according CD
Finally select E:/ to install XP.
Pls let me know your feedback

  • Installing J2SE v1.4.2_05 JRE "error reading setup initializing

I have a customer who just updated their OS on their computer from Windows 98 to XP and now they are trying to download the J2SE v1.4.2_05 JRE version of Java. On windows there are two available installers.
    Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language (j2re-1_4_2_05-windows-i586-p.exe, 14.91 MB), and the online installer: Windows Installation, Multi-language (j2re-1_4_2_05-<font face="tahoma,verdana,sans-serif" size="1" color="#000">windows</font>-i586-p-iftw.exe, 1.35 MB) .
In some situations, it may be necessary to use the first (larger) one, which (Ibelieve) includes the MSI installer., which usually will already be on an XP machine, but may not be ion an upgraded Win98 machine ?
    (just a guess)
/DietzNow I got it, Thanks for your effort!

  • Unable to install Oracle 8.1.6 on Windows 2000

I installed a new Windows 2000 Advanced Server on a new Dell Dimension 8100 w/ 256 mb ram.
Then I inserted oracle 8i Enterprise Edition 8.1.6 into the cd rom and click on installed, but after a few seconds nothing happens. I've installed the same thing on other PCs and they were fine. Could this be hardware problem, OS problem, Cd problem, or what? I'd appreciate any suggestions or insights. Thanks.

I have the exact same problem. Dell Dimension 4300 w/ 512MB
Win200 Server. I can install on other hardware no problem.

  • Cannot install version 7.4 on my windows 2000 PC

I have just bought an 8GB Nano but when I try to install it I am asked to upgrade to latest version above 7.4. However, iPod no longer supports Windows 2000 above version 7.3.2. which is the latest version on my PC. How can I get around this?

You can't get round this except by upgrading your operating system. iTunes 7.3 is last version to work with Windows 2000.
Your only alternative is to manage your iPod with third party software, some examples:

  • Install Oracle 8i Personald Edition on Windows 2000 Server SP2

    Hi
I have problem to install the Oracle 8i Personal Edition on
    Windows 2000 Server SP2.
I run the Setup.exe, I become the message (not exactly) &#8220;JRE
(Java Runtime Environment) was not found&#8230;&#8230; please visit
    www.javasoft.com&#8230;.. and install JRE version 1.1.7 or higher&#8230;&#8221;
Now, I have download and install this JRE (JavaTM 2 Runtime
    Environment v 1.2.2_008 / Internationalized version of Java 2
    Runtime Environment).
    The error-messages comes again.
    Have everyone a idea?

    hi phill...
why dont you try it out with the same CD and increase your RAM
by another 64MB? This will be enough. The reason is , most
Oracle 8i releases are combined with a java based Oracle
Universal Installer. This requires some good amount of RAM. Just
try it out with some extra memory. If this also didnt work, then
send in the problem, error with your system config. This will
help me in solving your problem.
    Imran.

  • Install oracle 8.0.6 with Windows 2000

    hello all,
today we have oracle 8.0.6 on NT Server ...
we need install the same release oracle 8.0.6 on new IBM server, with Windows 2000 Server ...
we are looking information about differences between config oracle 8.0.6 in NT Server and Windows 2000 Server
    thanks in advance
    rodolfo

My tnsnames.ora file is using SID and not SERVICE NAME.
The configuration is the same as the other NT server I am using, this is actually a new server we are trying to replace the production with. The only difference is the OS so far. I looked at all the configuration files and the only error I get is that TNS 12203 error when I try to connect to Oracle.
When I try from any client it does the same thing, TNS 12203 and no connection to database.
Could it be the OS, or does anyone know anyone that has Oracle 8.0.6 on a 2003 Server Box.
    Thanks for your help guys.

  • How to install a zen micro 6gb on windows 2000

Can anybody help, I am trying to install the micro 6gb on windows 2000 pro.
The device is reconised by windows but everytime it searches for a driver it cannot find one.
I have downloaded and run the latest driver install pack from creative but still windows reports it cannot find a driver.
    I have searched the following
    Creative CD
    Windows update
Creative directory where the drivers are stored
Each time it reports driver not found.
I have also reset the mp3 but all to no avail.
Tried it on 2 machines both with the same results.
Anybody help with this please ?

Also what firmware is on the player? It should be listed under Information, or System Information I believe its called...
If its a number beginning with 2, such as 2.20.05 then you will have problems getting it to work under Windows 2000. Firmware 2.20.05 and any other v2 firmware is designed for Windows XP Service Pack and higher systems. To get it working on Windows 2000/98/ME requires you to have an "Easy CD" which normally comes inside the box for all Creative players designed for Windows XP systems only. If you did not get this CD then you cannot use the player under Windows 2000.
But thats just if you have a v2 firmware. If its a v then hopefully what SSR said might work.
