Installing j2se on w2k sp4

I have tried to download and install both a)J2SE / NetBeans 3.6
and b)1.4.2 (J2SE). The downloads (
a) j2sdk-1_4_2_04-nb-3_6-bin-windows.exe
b) j2sdk-1_4_2_06-windows-i586-p.exe ) are fine. However, during the install
wizard, I am asked where to install the software. I input D:\.... and
the wizard tells me there is insufficient space on C:.
I know there is insufficient space on C:, that's why I wanted to install on D:
In NetBeans case it does say it will install on D:\..., but then says
insufficient space on C?
In 1.4.2 (J2SE), it tells me "insufficient space on C:". It even gives me
a special screen with the C: drive highlighted, and won't let me move to
D or E which it also presents.
It seems that, although the wizard allows me to identify the target
drive for install, it is set up to use only C:
What do I have to do to get the SW installed on D: ?
I have been through the forums and can not find an answer.
Thanks.
jack

The install has to place some update files on the boot drive. It does this regardless. Read the Installation Instructions for the info.

  • No Apollo Install on W2K Sp4

When attempting to install on W2K Sp4 get an error msg
stating that a later version of the MSI installer pkg is required.
W2KSp4 is the latest. Do we need VISTA to run this? I'm kind of
puzzled by the attempt to build a RIA that requires the latest MS
OS. Does this not defeat the design intent.
Also had problems installing on Ubuntu but I don't think

Hi, please post Apollo questions on the

  • Interfacing Vectra XU-6/200, W2K SP4 and Scanjet 2P, difficulties.

This is a query for the long serving HP folks.
I am attempting to interface an HP Vectra XU-6/200 running under W2K SP4 and an HP Scanjet 2P, all legacy products.
The Vectra XU and the Scanjet 2P are interfaced via an HP adaptor pwa. Unfortunately the adaptor pwa does not have an HP product number attached, the only identifier is a paper label glued to the outside face of the installation bracket, the label reads " HP Scanjet scanner". The Vectra XU has three PCI slots and three ISA slots, its User Manual states that both the ISA bus and the PCI bus have 'Plug & Play' (P&P) capability. W2K of course has P&P capability.
The Vectra XU BIOS allows for two P&P settings, both of which I have tried, without success. The normal P&P mode is labelled 'Bootable' in the BIOS, the alternate method is labelled  'Full'.   Under 'Bootable' the P&P service does the complete job of interfacing all components, under 'Full' the BIOS initialises all components, but does not allocate IRQ's etc. that has to be done manually.
My problem is that the OS appears to be unable to recognise the adaptor card. I have tried installing the card after the driver, ( WIN 3 method), I have tried installing the adaptor card before the driver, (WIN NT/2K method) The Scanjet 2P User Manual discusses both methods. more or less, since the hardware  and software are claimed to operate on versions of Windows from WIN 3.1 to W2K.
To the best of my knowledge the adaptor card is functional, as is the scanner, I removed both  from my wife's old Vectra RS-25, where it was functioning quite happily under WIN 3.11. The Vectra XU has the optional second CPU and runs well under W2K SP4. Our faithfull old Vectra RS 25 suffered a HDD controller card failure after around twenty years of service.  I have beeen unable to find a replacement HDD controller card, so, sadly, I scrapped our faithfull servant!
I would appreciate it greatly if anyone is able to tell me how to solve this riddle? It is my suspicion that the problem lies in the adaptor card failing to provide identity information in a form recognisable by W2K. I have considered changing the Vectra OS back to WIN 3.11, but I'm not anxious to do that for the obvious reason of lesser capability

    hi
the point is that even if you get this somehow to work your customer will work with a version which is no longer supported in a an environment which was NEVER supported.Your customer must be aware of the risks that result from such a decision.
I would recommend either to upgrade your BO version or to downgrade the windows clients.a solution maybe a terminal server installation of the bo client.
sorry that i cannot provide you with a solution but you have to be aware of the risks you are facing.

j2re (run-time env) does not have javac. I ran into same problem with

  • Installing J2SE 1.4.2_05 on Windows 2000

    Hi all,
I have been trying to install J2SE 1.4.2_05 on Windows 2000, ( the program for installing the same had been downloaded from java.sun.com site) the size of the file which i downloaded was of 356Kb.
When i tried to install the same i got an error saying Error 1606 :could not access network location http://java.sun.com/webapps/download/getfile/1.4.2_05-b04/windows-i586/sd142000.cab . While on the same network when i tried to install on some other machine it didnt gave me any error, the installation went on wery smoothly.
Any suggestions or ideas regarding the same are highly appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance.

It might have been the network. Why don't you download the complete thing and install instead of that remote installer?

  • Error Installing J2SE v1.4.2 on WinMe

    Hello,
While trying to install J2SE v 1.4.2 with NetBeans IDE v 3.5 Cobundle, the installation proceeds until it reaches 6%, then a DOS windows running command.com pops up for a few seconds, dissapears, and the installation progress stops. I checked the intallation log in the destination directory and I get the following message:
    "Installing J2SDK..."
    "ERROR: j2sdk installer not found"
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

I give up. I decided to download the NetBeans 3.5 installer. I already had the sdk installer from the cobundle, so I installed the sdk and jre, then I erased the NetBeans directory and the uninst directory created by the cobundle installer (I left jvm just in case) and then I installed NetBeans. I think everything works ok.
My advice, forget the cobundle and download separately (or if you already have the cobundle, get the sdk installer from the _uninst directory when the cobundle gets stuck and download the NetBeans installer).

  • Does Installing J2SE 5.0 Break any Applications?

    1. Does J2SE 5.0 contain a newer JRE, and if so does installing J2SE 5.0 Break any Applications due to the new JRE?
    2. What information frrom the operating system do Java Applications need in order to find the "correct" version of JRE. Do they get information from the registry or the path.
    3. Is there a reason to continue using an older JRE, and if so, how would one do it?
    4. Does Sun publish any application notes that address the above questions?

    1. Does J2SE 5.0 contain a newer JRE, and if so does
installing J2SE 5.0 Break any Applications due to the
new JRE?A few small incompatibilities. A simple test should reveal them quite quickly.
    >
    2. What information frrom the operating system do
Java Applications need in order to find the "correct"
version of JRE. Do they get information from the
registry or the path.If you use Java Web Start it will do this automatrically.
    >
    3. Is there a reason to continue using an older JRE,
and if so, how would one do it?You would use an old version if you have third party software which is not supported for a newer version.
    Use Java Web Start.

  • Error while installing J2SE 5.0 update 6

i got the following error msg while installing J2SE 5.0 update 6
Error 1722. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected . contact your support personnel or package vendor.

    And from the Installation Notes:
Choosing an installation path containing characters that are not part of the system code page - On Windows 2000, XP, and 2003, it is possible to name directories using characters that are not part of the system locale's code page. If such a directory is part of the installation path, then error 1722 occurs, and installation is not completed.
To prevent this problem, make sure that the user and system locales are identical, and that the installation path only contains characters that are part of the system locale's code page. User and system locales can be set in the Regional Options or Regional Settings control panel.

I have installed J2SE under linux under /usr/java and this is OK. You can now run web services pack under this.

  • Fail to install 9i on W2k which 8i exist~~

I want to install 9i on w2k,which also have 8i.
When the installer proceed on the dialog which ask me if
I want to migrate database of 8i to 9i,whether I choose now or
later, the screen will stop on the dialog whose title is "dealing
    with database configuration assistant..."
Why can't I upgrade??? Do I miss some important step to decide?
I have installed 9i according to the document "Migrating from
Oracle7 Using the Oracle Data Migration Assistant",but still not
work.Although it is from 7i to 9i,I think the situation is the
    same.
    So,please slove my problem,thanks!!

Linking was still failing for me on my
system. I have Red Hat 7.1 and I was
    trying to install Oracle9i Database.
The error I had while the system was trying
to build libclntsh.so.9 (built by genclntsh) was
    /lib/libc.so.6: undefined reference to `_dl_lazy@GLIBC_2.1.1'
    /lib/libc.so.6: undefined reference to `_dl_dst_substitute@GLIBC_2.1.1'
    /lib/libc.so.6: undefined reference to `_dl_out_of_memory@GLIBC_2.2'
    /lib/libc.so.6: undefined reference to `_dl_relocate_object@GLIBC_2.0'
    /lib/libc.so.6: undefined reference to `_dl_clktck@GLIBC_2.2'
As well as an undefined reference to
    __cmpdi2.
I just hacked my way out by adding the
libraries that seem to contain these symbols.
I just completed the installation and my
    setup seems to be working.
My linking problems was resolved by
changing the following line in genclntsh:
    SYSLIBS=`cat ${ORACLE_HOME}/lib/sysliblist`" -L/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.96 -lgcc -ldl -lm -lc /lib/ld-linux.so.2"
    #SYSLIBS=`cat ${ORACLE_HOME}/lib/sysliblist`" -ldl -lm -lc"
(The commented out line was the original
line). Basically __cmpdi2 is defined in
libgcc.a and the other dl symbols are
    define in /lib/ld-linux.so.2.
    Hope this helps someone.
BTW, the change is done during the install,
when the system starts linking, an
error message is displayed. I made the
    fix, than manually ran
    sh -x /home/dba/OraHome1//bin/genclntsh
    in the /home/dba/OraHome1/plsql/lib directory
(where the offending makefile was failing).
When genclntsh succeeded, I simply clicked
on retry in the install popup and the Oracle
    installation proceeded with no additional
    hickups
    null
