Installing jdk1.3 in solaris 2.6

Hi, I would like to install jdk 1.3 into my solaris 2.6 machine. I have downloaded
j2sdk-1_3_1_05-solaris-sparc[1].tar.Z and installed the packages into my system.
after the installation, I have redirected the softlink from /usr/java to /usr/j2se.
Orginally, it was pointing to /usr/java1.1, a previous version.
however, when I run a java -version. I got the follwing error.
Can anyone kindly help me on this ?
[sun]# ./java -version
Error: failed /usr/j2se/jre/lib/sparc/client/libjvm.so, because ld.so.1: /usr/j2se/bin/./../bin/sparc/native_threads/java: fatal: libCrun.so.1: open failed:

Hi
Thanks for the response. I understand the concept of anonymous memory. But what is confusing me is the "/tmp" directory. The "df -k" command over the "/tmp" directory is always showing used % as 1%. Also the "swap -s" is never matching with the output of "df -k".. ( I suppose both represent the Virtual attributes of swap space i.e. disk backed memory + portion of the RAM).
for example following is the output of the above commands at a particular instance.
df -k
swap 1908728 1768 1906960 1% /tmp
tcsb.tcs.gs1::/users/tcsuser/tmp-> swap -l
swapfile dev swaplo blocks free
/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s1 32,1 16 1049744 84048
tcsb.tcs.gs1::/users/tcsuser/tmp-> swap -s
total: 589008k bytes allocated + 98672k reserved = 687680k used, 1908920k available
Is there anything i'm missing here??

  • Need help in installing jdk1.4

    Hi ,
I am planning to install jdk1.4.2_10 in solaris 8. I've downloaded it but i could able to visit "recommed patch" web page. I am getting 'invalid target' message.
    Currently I am using jdk1.4.2_03.
Could anyone please let me know shall I start installing jdk1.4.2_10 without installing any solaris patch.
Please advice me, It is quite urgent.
    Thanks,
    Shaik Sulaiman

I want to thank everyone for their replies and I wanted to give you an update as well. I actually did the install right after I asked this question and then was in for a rough few days afterwards.
I made the mistake (in my opinion) of upgrading to system 10.4.8 after the install and I lost my windows media player and other thing so I ended up doing an archive and install and lost a bunch of things. I'm still in the process of getting my lost things back but I'm coming through on the other end. I'm upgraded to 10.4.6.
I have not tried to burn any CD's yet which I need to do. As some of you may remember I was having problems burning CD's before and even got a new CD player installed.
I'm glad I am still under my service warrantee since I've spent quite a few hours on the phone with Apple lately!!!
Oh, I had bought the install disk 4 months ago but I was afraid to install it because of the kinds of problems I ran into AFTER installing it.
I ended up dumping system 9.2.2 in my trash and deleting it. (I have full backups of everything) Is there anywhere else on my computer where I could find any more of system 9.2.2 to delete? I deleted all the parts of the system folder and applications. I really need disk space, I'm getting short. I have 38.2 gigs.
    Again thanks everyone!

Check also if the t-bit is set:
    [root@vtl1g121 ~]# ls -dl /tmp
    drwxrwxrwt 11 root root 4096 Apr 10 11:44 /tmp
This is needed to mark the filesystem/directory as temporary.
Sometimes this can cause such problems also
    Command: chmod +t   /tmp

  • Installing spam assassin on solaris 9

I'm getting "optional module missing" message while installing the spam assassin. And I had so much trouble installing any module perl module on solaris. Maybe someone here knows an easy way to install spam assassin on solaris.

    use perlgcc
Perl remembers what compiler was used when it was first compiled, and unless you purchase the Sun compiler, you'll be using "gcc". Sun provides you with a version of perl compiled with gcc, so you can do stuff like you're trying to do.....

  • Installing JDK1.5 ON WINDOWS XP

    HI,
i have installed jdk1.5 on windows xp.when i type java -version it gives me the correct version ie 1.5.09.but when i type javac -help it gives me an error SAYS"JAVAC NOT RECOGNISED AS AN INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL CMD"...WHY IS THIS?also when i start tomcat it shows me the error.."windows cannot find -DJava .util.logging.manager=org.apache.juli.ClassLoadLogManager"..please help me sort this out..I am trying this for 2 days..

are you sure you installed the JDK? sounds to me like you might have installed a JRE instead. either that, or the installation isn't quite complete and you need to set the environment PATH variable to be pointing to the bin directory of the JDK, that is, where javac.exe lives
the tomcat thing might not be a big issue, I think it's just the old "log4j isn't configured" problem. if your tomcat install seems to be working ok it's no big deal; logging isn't essential to the runtime

I have tried downloading it again and also used the installer which was successfully able to install on Windows XP.
Also, a few days back I was able to install jdk1.5.0.07 but then my system was attacked by some trojan and I had to format it. Since then I am unable to install it using the same exe.

First make sure that you are logged in as "root", or use su [root password] to be logged in as.
And then try all that things again.

  • Installing Oracle 9i in Solaris 10

    Hi
I have a server having OS Solaris 10 SPARC Edition 64 bit. I want to install Oracle 9i client in that server. I have seen in many forums ppl saying that Oracle 9i is not compatible with Solaris 10 and there are some issues related to patches.
Can anyone help me in this matter.
    Thanks and Regards
    Abhishek Verma

    Thanks for your replies guys.
I successfully installed Oracle9i client in Solaris 10. Initially I had to set up the Kernel parameteres as Prajeevan has suggested. Later the installation was quite staright forward and same as for Linux server.
Thanks for giving your precious time for replying to my query.

  • Installing JDS 3 on Solaris 10 SPARC previously running CDE

Does anyone have experience of installing JDS3 on SPARC architectures? Most of the posts seem to relate to x86. I'm having trouble installing JDS3 from the Solaris 6/06 distribution.
I have a jumpstart config which starts with a SUNWCrnet and adds the minimum to provide a CDE with XDM log in. We thought we'd try JDS3 so I've expanded the profile to include all packages in the Sol10 6/06 distribution which are marked as belonging to the GNOME2 or JDS3 categories.
This gives the option for selecting JDS from the login session menu. The desktop comes up ok but then we get error messages:
'Failed to execute child process "xscreensaver" '
Attempting to start any application from any menu results in the following message:
    'Cannot launch entry
Details: Text was empty (or contained only white space)'
    I can't even open a terminal.
It looks like a major piece of configuration data is missing but I'm not sure where to start looking.
Any help for an old SPARC head gratefully received.

Xscreensaver needs to have both /usr/openwin/bin and /usr/X11/bin in the user's $PATH. Add the line:
    PATH=$PATH:/usr/openwin/bin:/usr/X11/bin
in your .profile and that should do it for you.

  • Install Nagios agents on Solaris 10 to monitor from RHEL 5

    Hi Sugunakar,
There are a few small things I can think of checking:
I am trying to install SMC on solaris 10What version of Solaris 10 are you using? You need 11/06 (aka "Update 3") or later. Also, it looks like this is on a V210: how much memory and swap do you have ([requirements here|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2215/deployment-72?l=en&a=view])? And have you [edited your /etc/project file|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2216/chapter2-1000?l=en&a=view] to adjust the shared memory settings?
Have you applied any of the [patch sets|http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=104]?
smcdatabase service is always in maintenance mode.It would be interesting to see what that service log says. Look in /var/svc/log/application-management-sunmcdatabase:default.log for clues.
/var/opt/SUNWsymon/install/guibased-setup.1285765588453.sh: /var/opt/SUNWsymon/db/data/SunMC/pg_hba.conf: cannot createIs there any reason why SunMC may not be able to write to /var (or /var/opt/SUNWsymon)? Maybe portions of /var are read-only (shared from a global zone, or over NFS)?
I've done a lot of SunMC pilot projects over the years: if you could use some help speeding up your eval just send me an email.

  • ORA-27102: out of memory. Faild to install oracle 10gR2 on Solaris 10

Hi, I want to install oracle on my solaris machine. I have 2.5G RAM and more than 5G swap file. But the ORA-27102: out of memory error occurred at installing the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant step(Copying database files Creating and starting Oracle instance).
    The only warnings bellow:
    Checking kernel parameters
Checking for BIT_SIZE=64; found BIT_SIZE=64. Passed
Checking for shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295; found no entry. Failed <<<<
Checking for shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100; found no entry. Failed <<<<
Checking for semsys:seminfo_semmni=100; found no entry. Failed <<<<
Checking for semsys:seminfo_semmsl=256; found no entry. Failed <<<<
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: The kernel parameters do not meet the minimum requirements (see above).
What's the reason and how may I resolve it?
    Thanks!

I set some kernel parameters like: set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295 and so on. Restart the computer and run dbca+ and configure in advance mode. There's a stage require the size of flash_recover_segment of which the default size number is 2048M. WOW, out of memory on my pc of course.
So I think it's the parameter value during the installation progress bring on the ORA-27102 problem. However, during the first installation, there's no prompt for me to enter the parameter; or I didn't see.
