Installing jdk1.4.0 new beginner problem
Anyone help please,
I'm trying to install jdk1.4.0, I've finished downloading and install into my pc win2k, I went into Environment Variables to setup a New System Variable, then there is a two boxes/spaces needs to fill in a Variable Name and a Variable Value, I can not remember what do I need to fill in please anyone help what is Variable Name and Value?. I'm not on a Windows/2000 machine at the moment. But the most obvious values would be PATH and a directory vale. I found the following in the installation notes:
Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP - To set the PATH permanently:
a. Choose Start, Settings, Control Panel, and double-click System. On Windows NT, select the Environment tab; on Windows 2000 select the Advanced tab and then Environment Variables. Look for "Path" in the User Variables and System Variables. If you're not sure where to add the path, add it to the right end of the "Path" in the User Variables. A typical value for PATH is:
C:\jdk1.4\bin
Capitalization doesn't matter. Click "Set", "OK" or "Apply".
The PATH can be a series of directories separated by semi-colons (;). Microsoft Windows looks for programs in the PATH directories in order, from left to right. You should only have one bin directory for a Java SDK in the path at a time (those following the first are ignored), so if one is already present, you can update it to jdk.
b. The new path takes effect in each new Command Prompt window you open after setting the PATH variable.

Re-installing Photoshop CS6 on new iMac problem.
I transferred my Photoshop CS6 to a new iMac Retina running OSX 10.10.1, having taken care to deactivate on the old Mac first and then reactivated on the new. Photoshop comes up with an error message now each time I launch saying that "One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necassary for running Photoshop, are missing. Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop." So I did just that with my original installer disc. At the end of that process it said that there had been some errors and referred me to a log file which said:
Despite all this Photoshop seems to be working, but every time I launch it I get the same error message. I've not used it enough since the move to the new Mac to discover if any other faults have developed. As well as using my original install disc I also tried downloading the CS6 installer from the adobe.com site but exactly the same thing happens. I would welcome suggestions for a fix...Alas, this did not work. I first of all tried the reinstall in Safe Boot mode and at the end of the process exactly the same install error message as shown above. I then moved to the part of those instructions that said to ditch Adobe AIR and reinstall it. AIR was not visible anywhere on my machine, nor did that folder /Volumes/Adobe Master Collection exist. Maybe there's a difference between what CS6 installs compared with the CS5 your instructions refer to (?). So I went back to the Adobe.com downloads page, got Adobe AIR and installed it - during that it told me it was upgrading my AIR (wherever that was hidden - Find file could not see it) to version 16. Otherwise no reported errors. I went a step further and used the Uninstall tool to remove the existing CS6 installation, then tried reinstalling Photoshop - again same issue, same error. So I'm no further forward after several hours of trying different things.
Any more ideas please? -
I have installed iTunes on my new laptop OS Windows 7. I have two iphones, a 3rd gen nano and an ipod classic.
Since the install yesterday I keep getting an error message which itunes has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a soluion is available.
I have un and re installed and followed a command promt reset.
I still have the problem. Any ideas?Ok. So I created a new account and iTunes did work. I went back into my original account and tried again and just to be more clear, after I open iTunes it asks me to accept or decline the agreement, I do that, then it says "updating library", and then one all the bars are full it closes and says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close."
okay, let's start working through the user-account-specific causes of this message.
one possibility is damaged itunes preference files in the user account in which you're getting the crash. (there's a different set of those in each different user account, which is how we can get crashes limited to a single user account.)
if that is what is going on, we can often get past this by rebuilding the preference files in the account that is crashing. for the preference files rebuild technique, see my reply to kusma in this post:

What OS? "Rights" sounds like Windows
What is happening when starting it?
If Windows, where was it installed?

Problem with newly installed JDK1.3.1

I have just installed JDK1.3.1_01 version.
My O/S is Windows 98 /Nt compatible.
Somehow the permanent path setting instruction of Windows ME worked for me,have succesfully set the path at autoexec.bat file.
I have written my source code ona notepad and saved as: "xyz.java".
Have also disabled "Hide file extension for known files"in Windows explorer.
I typed the following at the command prompt:
c:>javac xyz.java
and got the following error.
error:cant read:xyz.java
why am I gettin this error?

It compiles the source file.
I used your suggestion of checking the file name by the CD command.
Dont u think, after the source file having been compiled my xyz.java should have another xyz.class?, for it to be executed?
Theres no xyz.class in the directory.
Anyway I had tried this:
C:\javac -classpath c:\myfolder\xyz.java
I don know what happened to my file at this point,I got another prompt right after this,
C:\java xyz
And a new error!:
Exception in the thread "main"java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:xyz.

Can't install itunes on a new Win7 machine. Get a message "There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run"
Have you completed all windows update including service Pack1? If not, please complete all the windows update then follow steps below to re-install all over.
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

after downloading new version of Firefox 4 I am unable to use touch pad for scrolling. I have tried installing and uninstalling the new version but this problem has always been occuring. I do not know how to fix this problem so I always return to the old version.

After using "migration assistant" from my old iMac to my new iMac, some tools stick while using Photoshop CS 6 Extended. My current operation system is 10.10 Yosemite. I was wondering if UN installing then RE installing CS 6 might solve the problem. If this is recommended, I would need complete instructions on doing this. I have there serial number for the product.
using migration assistant is problematic.
at this point yes, you should uninstall everything migrated, clean and then reinstall properly using the installation files.

Before I un-install itunes has anyone had a problem getting an ipad mini to show up in itunes as a device when connected to the computer? My old ipad shows up but not the new mini.

Jdk1.2.2 java commands problem on win98, win2000 and XP

I have just bought a new PC and made 3 partitions on the hard drive, each of them has 10G space, to installed 3 operation systems on each of these partitions, win98se, win2000 and XP. Then I installed jdk1.2.2 on each of these operation systems. However, when I go into the �\jdk1.2.2\bin directory and run the executable commands, eg. javac and java etc., get the following different error messages on different operating systems. I have spent a lot of time on trying to fix these problems, however, no any luck. It will be very appreciated if you super expert can have some help on them.

In two lines, they recommend:
dir /s SYMCJIT.DLL
ren SYMCJIT.DLL SYMCJIT.OLD
Of course, Java will run slower, but JIT is a machine-specific concept and this *.DLL was coded to fail if it did not recognize the CPU type. Maybe not a great decision, but there you are. -

Currently I am using jdk1.4.2_03.
Could anyone please let me know shall I start installing jdk1.4.2_10 without installing any solaris patch.

Shaik SulaimanI want to thank everyone for their replies and I wanted to give you an update as well. I actually did the install right after I asked this question and then was in for a rough few days afterwards.
I made the mistake (in my opinion) of upgrading to system 10.4.8 after the install and I lost my windows media player and other thing so I ended up doing an archive and install and lost a bunch of things. I'm still in the process of getting my lost things back but I'm coming through on the other end. I'm upgraded to 10.4.6.
I have not tried to burn any CD's yet which I need to do. As some of you may remember I was having problems burning CD's before and even got a new CD player installed.
I'm glad I am still under my service warrantee since I've spent quite a few hours on the phone with Apple lately!!!
Oh, I had bought the install disk 4 months ago but I was afraid to install it because of the kinds of problems I ran into AFTER installing it.
I ended up dumping system 9.2.2 in my trash and deleting it. (I have full backups of everything) Is there anywhere else on my computer where I could find any more of system 9.2.2 to delete? I deleted all the parts of the system folder and applications. I really need disk space, I'm getting short. I have 38.2 gigs.

I need a way to install Lion on a new SSD without an install disc, and how to format it without a Mac.
Hello, just yesterday I opened up my MBP 13" Mid-2010 running 10.7.(4/5) (Not sure which it is, but I think it is 10.7.5) and the first thing I saw was Skype tring to sign in. It looked fine, untill I took a second look and I heard a strange clicking noise coming from my computer. The Sykpe signin page said "Disc I/O error" or something like that. I instantly knew there was something wrong with my hard drive. Tried rebooting, grey screen, strange clicking noise like most people with hard drive failure. I was devistated. It has worked minutes ago, then my brother gets off, I open it up,and the hard drive has failed. After I got over the initial shock, I googled "hard drive replacement" after searching for a while, I noticed most sites just showed how to UPGRADE your hard drive, cloning it and all. Well, heres my main problem. I had no time to clone. Luckily, I had started backup up a month ago, and all my data is safe on my external hard drive, but this is only a time machine backup. No OS. Now, most people can just put in their install disk and voila! But, I, sadly, do not have my install disk. No idea where it went, I just don't have it. So, I was wondering if there was any possible way to make a bootable USB or disk without having acsess to a Mac, or having to buy a disc. I bought Lion, and I'm hoping that there is a way to download this and put it on a USB, then boot my computer from it. Now, my second problem is formatting. I have no idea how to format my SSD, let alone without a Mac. If there is some way to format an SSD so that it will work with a MacBook Pro, that would be great.on a PC
IMPORTANT: No, I don't have ANY install discs, the only one I had, for Snow Leopard, is gone. And no, I don't have access to ANY Macs to format the SSD. 1. Wait until the Main Menu appears. This could take quite some time because you are doing all of this over an Internet connection. You should use Ethernet if possible. It's much faster than wireless. Select Disk Utility from the Main Menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select the SSD main entry (mfgr.'s ID and size.) Click on the Partition tab in DU's main window. Select One partition from the dropdown menu under Partition Scheme.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
After the above has completed quit DU and return to the Main Menu. Click on the Install/Reinstall OS X option then click on the Continue button.
You should be all set if there are no glitches. -
New effects problem on library loops
My Logic has been performing close to flawless since I've had it. An update installed today and a new problem has arisen that I can not find a way to fix. Whenever the project tempo is different than the loop tempo, for example, when a drum loop in the library reads 120 and I change the project tempo is 85, the loop preview plays at the correct tempo but has reverb and delay all over it which sounds awful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That is exactly the same problem I've been having on my iPod 20G.
1. I've just upgraded my PC with XP, including Service Packs and updates.
2. Installed the newest iTunes
3. Imported all music files over from scratch, (did not import old iTunes library).
4. Installed iPod Updater 2006-01-10 for my version of the iPod.
5. Installed the new version for the iPod.
6. Then used the restore feature to wipe the iPod clean and then plugged it into the power supply like instructed by the Updater.
7. Launched iTunes with the iPod not connected.
8. Then connected the iPod and created a name for the iPod.
The problem occurs when the draging created Playlists to the iPod. It starts transferring files and then stops anywhere from 50 to 70 songs into the process. When it freezes, the iPod's "Do Not Disconnect" icon stops flashing and I can hear the harddrive inside the iPod still spinning. If you press the reset combination on the iPod at just the right time, it will reset. From that point I have formatted the iPod and started from sratch three times but it keep freeze around the same number of files. Still happens with different playlists.
Any suggestions? -
I was given notification to upload the latest version of itunes recently, so I clicked installed. However it has since corrupted my itunes and I get the error message:
"This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
In poor timing, I have also accidently damaged my phone and have a new one to restore it to an old back up.
It is because of this I am reluctant to completely delete itunes off my computer and start again for fear of losing my back ups.
Is there another way to fix iTunes so I can open it again?

After uninstalling all apple products even quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version anyways.
Easier to download and transfer music!!!!!
