Installing Kontakt 4 as a plug-in for GarageBand 09
It appears as though it is possible to use the free Kontakt 4 player as a plug-in with GarageBand. Some questions (all of which are probably pretty basic, but I'm new at this... I really appreciated the help I got with my last question!)
1. When I download the player, where do I install it?
2. As I acquire Native Instruments/other Kontakt-compatible synths, where do I install those so that Kontakt will find them in GarageBand?
3. Are there instruments that are more effective played through Kontakt? Less effective? Wikipedia says that "multi-timbral instruments which contain multiple channels and respond to many MIDI channels, such as Native Instruments Kontakt and MOTU MachFive, are not ideally suited for use in GarageBand," so I'm a little concerned about spending money on the perfect piano sound and finding that it won't work with GB.

Crap, I still can't hear sound even with the MIDI keyboard. I opened Kontakt Player and loaded a demo sound, made sure that it played with Kontakt's onscreen keyboard, and opened GB. I used a couple of the native GB instruments first to make sure that I could hear those. I switched the sound generator to Kontakt, and nada. I put the LCD display in "chord" mode to make sure that I was still getting a signal when trying to use the plugin, and it was registering that I was playing the notes... I just can't hear anything. (I just tried recording with it as well, thinking maybe it would be audible on playback, but that didn't work either... it recorded, but I have to switch to a GB instrument in order to hear anything.)
I feel like there's something else I need to do in order to get the two programs to talk to each other, but I can't figure out what that could be (and I've been combing the Internet for over a day now to figure it out; there's precious little info out there about using plugins with GB, and what material is out there doesn't really speak to my situation. Argh.)

I installed Nik:s suite of plug-ins for LR5 but for some reason not all of them were installed. In the end I uninstalled all of the Nik programs from my Mac but before I reinstalled them I opened LR5 again to check. Under "photo" and "edit in" the plug-ins were still presented but no programs opened, of course. after reinstalling the plug-ins one of the programs appeared twice in the list but not the others. I´m going to reinstall them again and I´m wondering if there is anyway of erasing the links to the plug-ins under "photo" and "edit in" ???
Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

Has anyone used reMIDI as a plug-in for Garageband ('08)? The program allows MIDI instruments to be strummed or arpegiated. I have a trial version, but can't get it to work in Garageband. Wonder how to set it up.
Thanks, Doctor MarkPort Forwarding.....or Port Mapping....as Apple calls it is a difficult and complex configuration method for most users. Because there are so many variables involved in this type of setup, it is not possible to provide a step by step guide that will work for everyone with all devices.
It is possible that a setup guide exists for the the WD drive and AirPort Extreme, but you will have to go looking for it on the Internet. Even if you find one, it may not be tailored to your specific situation or needs.
Sometimes, you can do everything right....at least according to someone's article or "how to" guide, and things still will not work correctly.
In situations like this, when you really don't know what to do, you need to enlist the aid of an IT pro, who will know what to do based on your particular products and unique circumstances. Sometimes....they won't be able to get things working either due to particular circumstances.
But, before you do this, I would strongly recommend that you use a Static IP address for your Internet connection with your ISP. If you do not have this now, contact them to ask them if they offer this type of connection. Expect to pay more for this type of service, of course. -
How do you install "Twixtor" excellent Slow Motion plug in for FCP

I have the Twixtor FxPlug Pro v5.0.1 but can't get to install it properly.
I have seen some posts in the web but for me there is no clue how to install it.
The installer installs it in the root of HD folder, but later they say you have to "move" it where the plug ins for FCP are.... which I don't know....

Frame 9 plug-in for DITA OT problem
I have installed the Adobe FrameMaker 9 plug-in for DITA Open Toolkit. Clicking the new menu item DITA> Geneate Output doesn't spawn the Generate Output dialog box but rather skips over it and immediately gives the error message wanting a DITA-OT pathname. I reproduced this problem on another machine with a evaluation copy of Tech Suite II. I've gone over the simple instructions several times and can't see where I could be going wrong. Has anyone else installed this successfully and did you encounter anything that might help me?

Unfortunately the instructions are not all that clear. You need to complete the info under the "Current File Method" section before the Generate Output dialog will display. Just add the following content to the ditafm.ini file (fminit/ditafm/ditafm.ini) ..

Oh .. make sure the DitaDir parameter points to the actual location of the DITA-OT on your system. Also, you must have the OT set up so that it will run from *any* command prompt (not just the one you get when you run the startcmd.bat file provided with the current OT). The startcmd.bat file sets the necessary environment variables for use within that shell .. for FM to properly call the OT, these environment variables must be set globally for all command shells.

i just finished a tutorial with an apple specialist at the store and he said there were samplers (plug-ins) for garageband that could be useful in lieu of buying a physical sampler. does anyone know about this or have any suggestions about this?

Adobe Photoshop CS4 listed my Epson Perfection V500 scanner as a selection under “File-Import”. When I installed Adobe Photoshop CS5, I noticed that scanner selection is not there. I contacted Epson technical support and they said Adobe Photoshop CS5 does not automatically install the TWAIN plug-in that it needs to recognize the scanner and that I need to contact Adobe technical support to find out how to add it.

I downloaded the "Photoshop CS5 Optional Plugins" file (PSCS5OptionalPlugins_Win_en_US.zip). I unzipped it and read the "ReadMeCS5_OptionalPlugin.pdf" file. In that file, the only section that discusses TWAIN is entitled "TWAIN (Mac only)". There is no section for how to install TWAIN for Windows.
How do I install the TWAIN plug-in for Windows?

I need someone to walk me through how to install a Plug-in for PS cs5 to open RAW (.NEF) file for Nikon D810 Camera.
I haven't used photoshop in ages and I got a new camera. I have been on the phone with Adobe (no help) and spent a couple of hours online trying to figure this out. I'm confused, frustrated and about to throw my computer out the window.
Also, I placed this in the "Photoshop for Beginners" since Photoshop CS5 doesn't appear anymore. I know CS5 is outdated but I spent hundreds of dollars on this program and you would think adobe would still honor its product.
Any guidance is much appreciated.
AJOdds are cs5 is too old. If you do a search on my the main Adobe website there is a list of compatible cameras for the last known update to camera raw for cs5.
Each version of Photoshop only gets so many updates for camera raw then it is necessary to upgrade Photoshop to get the next update for camera raw.
So you currently have 4 choices.
1 upgrade Photoshop
2 get Lightroom - latest version
3 get Photoshop elements -latest version
4 get dng converter - this will download the latest version an is the only option that is free.
The dng converter can be found by searching Adobe website. -
Cannot print adobe documents ... Error message indicates a need to install plug-in for adobe reader.
Please advise how/where to locate the required adobe reader plug-in...

How to install the plug-in for SQLServer 2000

I am installing Oracle Migration workbench (10.1.0.4.0), want to migration data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle. I downloaded omwb.zip file and sqlserver2k.zip plug-in. I put the plug-in in “plugins” folder during the installation, renamed it as SQLSERVER2K.JAR, and unzip it there, the unzip process generated two folders: META-INF and Oracle. There is a MANIFEST.MF file in META-INF folder, and in oracle folder, several small folders folder with a lot of .class files. I started the OMWB.BAT file in bin folder, I still get the error information: “No okugubs are installed. Please install…. “.
I tried many times, including rebooted the machine and restarted the OMWB.bat ifle, but still got the same error message. It should be a simple problem, but I just can't install OMWB becasue of the plug-ins problem.
Could anyone who installed the OMWB before and know how to solved the plug-in problems help me?
I am thinking: do I need to put all of the .class files in the folders into the “plugins” folder directly?

2- Unzip Omwb.zip (suppose it is unziped in C:\omwb)
3- Copy MySQL4.zip to C:\omwb\plugins and rename to MySQL4.jar
4- Execute C:\omwb\omwb.bat for WorkBench

I can't download the Adobe Edge Reflow. The file's downloading is successfull but the file doesn't go to my Creative Cloud so I can't install the programme. I have already install the Photoshop CC and the Reflow Plug-in for Photoshop.

1. I am running on Windows 8.1
2. When running the installer file from https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/reflow I get the following choice
I click "OK" which doesn't do anything for me (CC is off).
I turn CC on and run the installer again. I get the following window that within few settings disappears:
Then - just for half a second it says "Launching Creative Cloud desktop" and then it brings CC to front, and that's all.
RF still not there.
3. I spoke ta support agent on the Adobe chat on Friday. He looked into my computer for an hour. Uninstalled After Effects (after failing to update it). For some reason all apps disappeared from the list. They then reappeared after he opened PS.
This morning After Effects is still showing up in my system and is operational.
Weird.
4. At the end the agent suggested maybe Firewall is the problem here. Trying that out now. -
