Installing Lightroom 5.2 outside of CC is OK?

Hi there, I know this is one of those questions that is sparked purely because of my OCD, and I could not find an answer already within the forums... so my apologies in advance...
I have purcahsed CC, and really enjoy the fact that I get all updates/installs through a single app now. I have just decided to start using Lightroom, and when I launched the program, the first thing that it tells me is that there is an update to LR 5.2 available.
As a novice, it is very puzzling why I wouldn't be getting this update via the CC App/Installer. Is is OK for me to perform SW updates OUTSIDE of the CC app? Will this create any issues with receiving updates in the future?

Yes it’s OK to do updates within the application or the from the Creative Cloud Desktop app.
The two methods are not always in sync so you may get one notification before the other. For example I noticed that CC Desktop was showing Photoshop CC as up to date but when I launched the program and clicked Help >> Updates there was Camera Raw 8.2 awaiting installation. So I updated within the software whilst I had the application open.

Download it from Adobe. I doubt Lightroom 2 will run correctly on a new Mac that probably came with OS X 10.10.

You probably downloaded the Cloud version. Get the licensed version thru the following linked page...

Your photos remain in place, the catalog you have been using will remain. After you install Lightroom from the CC, all you have to do is open your existing catalog and continue right where you left off.

Problem with installing Lightroom 2 onto Macbook Pro running OS10.6.8 - any ideas why it will not install??

To be able to work on my older laptop on location I wanted to install Lightroom 2 onto a MacBook Pro which runs 10.6.8
It stops at the end of the installment and tells me to contact Adobe for info.... that's nit very easy anyway.

If you have 1 license of Lightroom 5, you can install it over 2 machines but you can use it 1 at a time.

I have several photos that I am working on in the old computer which is dying and not very reliable any more.
How do I find the photos on my old computer and get them into Lightroom on my new computer?

You would need the catalog and the images from the old computer if you want your work that you have done previously. You will have to copy the images and the catalog from your old computer to the new one. Don't you know where you imported images to?

Installed Lightroom 5 on iMac. When it asked where I wanted to save everything, I opened the box to view options. I did not select anything different. Then I received an error message - An error occurred when attempting to change modules. Ideas?
