Installing Lightroom 5.5 on Windows 7 Professional

I purchased Lightroom 5 awhile back and installed it on a laptop. I just got a new laptop and downloaded the file, but it will not install. It says I may not have enough space on my hard drive or have permission to install. I have 152 GB on my hard drive and have full permissions (it's my computer). Any advice would be great.

then you have corrupt installation files.
if you have a disk, copy its contents to a desktop folder and use that folder to install.
otherwise, redownload checking for the correct download size.  actually, you may as well instll lr 5.6 unless there's some reason you prefere 5.5

I was finally able to uninstall CS4 - it takes forever - and reinstall the original CS4 master suite on Windows 7.  Then I used the help menu update tool to update directly from 4.0 - a download 930 MBs - that took a long time too - there must have been a huge number of folks downloading from Adobe last night.  This morning, the updates worked and the 4.1 update is working smoothly with AVCHD and HDV and other functions all working.
Thanks everyone. As far as back up goes, I back up everything on separate drives.  So if I'm currently working on a project, I'll have all the footage and project files duplicated on a separate drive.  And, if it's a huge job, I may get paranoid and triple back it up
As far as backing up the system drive on my production machine - there's not much to back up - nothing other than CS4 and other plugins - in fact, I'll intentionally do a clean re-install once every 6 months or at least once a year just to humor myself.
But my test machine - now I have a deconstructionist approach - I'll try to break it just so I can then see what it takes to fix it!

  • W510 Multi Touch Display Driver NOT installing properly on a fresh Windows 7 Professional Image.

Hello everyone, this is my first post here and I will make it as short as possible. First, thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and helping me out in any way possible.
I have a fairly new W510 machine with a crucial 256GB SSD in it. My SSD crapped out (luckily I had a back up) crucial sent me a new one and I just imaged the new drive a couple of days ago with my backup (The backup is made from the original Lenovo install). However during the imaging some Windows components were damaged for some reason (perhaps due to the previous drive crapping out). The only fix was to go ahead and use the retail windows 7 Pro DVD to "repair" the windows installation by clicking the "upgrade" button after inserting the disk. --As Microsoft suggested this to fix an existing win 7 installation. After I did that EVERYTHING worked flawlessly! I was really happy with the machine, it booted in 30 seconds and what not. However, the multi touch driver for my W510 screen will not stick ... no matter how many times I install it, as soon as I "log out" of the machine, the driver rolls back to a normal pointing device and multi touch is disabled and my on-screen keyboard vanishes. It is the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Here is exactly what I'm doing.
1 - Log into my Admin user account
    2 - Install this: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-74908
3 - Multi Touch works great!
4 - Logoff or Lock machine or put it to sleep.
5 - Log back in my admin user account
6 - Touch screen works but all multi touch features are now disabled (As in no pan/scroll no pinch to zoom no nothing) the touch screen simply works as a simple mouse (point and click).
7 - Install the driver again (mentioned in step 2) --Again everything works great.
    8 - Repeated 3 to 7 ... Forever …
I tried completely removing the driver and re-installing it from scratch, I tried getting the raw ISD-V4 (W510's screen driver) directly from Wacom (works too) but again the minute I Logoff or lock that machine, the driver just rolls back or goes back to a normal pointing device. It is really weird that this is happening. The touch screen always worked well and I never had any problems with it. Also in device manager nothing has changed, it seems that everything is in good shape there.
    My W510 specs:
    - Intel Core i7 Extreme X920
    - 16.0 GB DDR3 RAM (G-Skill)
    - 256 GB Crucial M4 SSD
    - No GOBI 2000 Card.
    - Intel WiMax Installed and Enabled.
    - CD-ROM Drive in UltraBay
    - Cam / Fingerprint Reader / Color Sensor / Smartcard Reader / Expansion all installed
    - Windows 7 Professional SP1
It seems that Windows is somehow defaulting to a different "driver" that is over-riding the multi-touch driver I download and install when I log off. Do I need to install the driver outside my user account? Or is there a method to erase the default drivers or something? I am trying to avoid re-imaging this machine from scratch using the provided Lenovo Windows Partition. I just have too much development software on it, some of which will take me forever to re-install and re-configure.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Al.

  • Anyone install CS4 Design Premium on Windows 7 Professional?

I presently have CS4 installed on Microsoft Vista Ultimate SP2 32-bit o/s using a Intel i7-920 processor .  Runs cleanly with no problems whatsoever.  I am in the process of upgrading the o/s over to Microsoft Windows 7 Professional  but risk de-activating my CS4 I thought I would throw this question out to the readership.  I am fortunate enough in obtaining this new o/s prior release and have been tasked to see if all our mission critical applications migrate over cleanly.  Sad to say deactivating, re-installing CS3/CS4 can be a nightmare (ask me how I know!) so risk taking down a good CS4 install using Vista down it it's knees I thought I would ask.  Has anyone by chance tested installing CS4 Design Premium on any of the new Microsoft 7 o/s' ?

I think I found a solution to running CS4 on Windows 7 (pro 64 bit in my case). There were a few variables I eliminated so I'm not sure exactly which one was key.  I am part of an office domain with permissions etc in effect, and that may have been part of the issue. Basically the installer would run but hang around 40% when it was installing "language packs" or "device central" components. It would not generate an adobe error, rather just the usual "program is not responding" error in win 7. If you don't understand my steps, just google the details and you should find methods for each instruction.
    What I did:
    1. Locate and run the clean script for CS3/4/5 from adobe to remove ALL installation files.
    2. Turn off User Account Control in win 7 users settings in control panel.
    3. Make sure you find your C:\users\public\documents (calls itself "public documents" in the file browser) and edit the permissions for that folder. Give full control to any user in the list just to be safe.
    4. If you are using the downloadable installation as I did, allow the files to unpack onto your desktop as default by the adobe unzipper program.
    5. Completely remove ANY antivirus/antispam software and make sure windows defender etc etc is not running. Also turn off windows firewall.
    6. Reboot your computer and ensure NO adobe products are listed in the programs and features list under control panel. If there are, remove & reboot again.
    7. BEFORE BOOTING: unplug from the network, turn off all wireless so that your computer is completely isolated.
    8. Run the installation again, and hopefully it will work for you as It finally did for me after 6 hours of troubleshooting and reading these #*$*# forums.

  • Could I install Lightroom 5 in my windows VISTA ?

If I install Lightroom 5 in my computer with windows VISTA there will be some features ob the lightroom 5 unavailables ?

Lr5 is NOT supported on Vista, but, you can patch the installer if you must.
To be clear: It is best to upgrade OS to Windows 7 (or 8), then install Lr5, and you are strongly encouraged to do so. But if you must not upgrade OS, and must upgrade Lr, you can do it.
I've not heard of missing features or problems on Vista, but that doesn't mean there aren't any - so beware (installing on Vista "voids the warranty" ).

  • Can't install Lightroom (4.2) on Windows 7

    Hi,
I've just bought Lightroom (4.2), however when I try to install it via the msi it claims to be extracting the msi files for the 64bit version, then does nothing.  The window vanishes and the install just appears to stop.
My machine prevsiouly had a Lightroom 4 trial which expired and I uninstalled.  It also has a subsription version of Photoshop CS6 running, and a licensed version of Photoshop Elements 9.
I've run CCleaner to remove anything from registry from the trial version - but now I'm out of ideas as I'm unable to find a log file or anything else that explains what is going on.

This Microsoft utility automatically repairs program installation issues when installing or removing program fails because of corrupted registry keys or blocked installation: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

  • Installing iTunes 7.5 on Windows XP Professional 64bit

I recently received an iPod Nano for Christmas. When I plugged it in, the version of iTunes I was using informed me that I had to upgrade to a new version of iTunes to support this iPod. I installed version the package of iTunes 7.5 and whatever version of Quicktime comes with it. When I launch iTunes. I get the error about not being able to rip or burn CDs and I must reinstall iTunes. When I go into About iTunes, the screen informs me that the CD driver is not available. I have already tried getting the GEAR driver for Windows XP 64bit and that didn't help anything. I've also tried several different versions of iTunes with no improvement. When I do have my iPod connected, iTunes freaks out about being unable to read the data, then 5 seconds later, the music shows up perfectly. On the actualy iPod, the screen says connected, connecting, and disconnected. I'm sure that it's a problem with the 64 bit version of Windows XP because I've read several problems regarding this. However, they all applied to Vista. Any help or links? I'd even settle for sympathy at the moment.

    Hi Ashok,
You cannot install it on windows XP. You need to have a server version of windows (2000, 2003). Or, also on linux, but for that you'll need another installation.
    Hope this helps.

  • MySQL install error on new computer (Windows 7 Professional)

When installing MySQL I receive the following error:
Could not access network location \Hewlett-Packard\\.
I have checked the registry entries as per document: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549
and they are fine.  This is a brand new machine right out of the box.  I have installed other software without incident.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is probably cruft left behind by the HP OEM imaging process. To fix it, go into regedit and look in the registry under these two keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
If you see an "InstallLocation" value containing \Hewlett-Packard\\ just delete it. Then the software should be OK.
This value is somehow getting pulled into the MSI installer property "INSTALLDIR", though I'm not sure why. I'm also not sure why this impact some installers but not others, nor is it clear this is a bug in the installer (it sounds like an HP issue to me).

  • Can not install this update for kb2667402 windows 7 professional. I tried various fix-it but it did not help Update KB2667402 failed with error 80004005

I'm not sure where to turn now and am soooooooooo frustrated! I have been trying to get security update KB2667402 with error code 80004005 to install for a couple months without any success.
So, I finally turned to microsoft tech support... Case# 1186572463
On Fri. Oct. 26 I was on the phone with a microsoft tech for over 3 hours. The tech that took remote access of my computer said she did not know how to fix my problem and that my case would have to be escalated to a higher level and that I would
receive a call back on Mon. Oct. 29th. However, I never got a return call.
Yesterday - Tues. Oct. 30th I called in again and was on the phone for 4.5 hrs with a microsoft tech and he also took remote access of my computer but was not able to fix the problem. I asked to speak to someone at a higher tech level and was told to call
    back into the microsoft helpline.
The 3rd call - Although I had been told during the prior 2 calls that I was still covered under my warrenty I was now told that I needed to pay for the support call. It took a while to get that straighteded out and to give all my information again to
the call center but I finally worked with a 3rd tech for over 2 hrs. but had to terminate the call for a conference call I had with a client. The person I worked with said he would call me back between 7-8pmEST so he could continue helping me but I never
    got a return call.
I have already invested over 10 hrs in the last few days regarding this issue and fear that if I call back in I will once again start over completely with no success which is why I am reaching out here. Is there anyone that has the knowledge of how to fix
    the problem?

I've been having the same problem and today did some searching and found something that worked.  Check that the download hasn't already been installed - look in the Installed Updates listing for an entry.  If it exists there, uninstall it, and
then force a Check For Updates and retry the install. This worked for me and I hope it helps.
    Good day, Chuck.
