Installing Lightroom on a second mac

We purchased Lightroom for our Mac and Mac Pro. We installed the first and cannot figure out how to install the second.
HELP!
Thanks
Carolyn

Carolyn you will want to use the same process which you used to install Lightroom on the first computer.  You can find more details on how to install the Adobe Creative applications included with your membership at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.

    Oliver,
Are you getting activation errors? As Ned stated , it is easier to troubleshoot if we have the specific type of error and error detail that you are getting.
Here is some help on activation if this is the issue:

  • How can I install ML in a second mac with out pay

Install Snow Leopard or Lion on the other computer. From that computer sign into the App Store with the same Apple ID used to purchase Mountain Lion. Click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. Locate the Mountain Lion entry which should now have an active Install/Download button on the right.
    Also, read:
    Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process.

Hello, I have purchased and installed Lightroom 5 on my Mac Desktop.  I travel with a MacBook Air and would like to have Lightroom 5 on this device as well.  The MacBook Air does not have a CD/DVD slot.  How do I get Lightroom 5 on my MacBook Air so I can use it while travelling?

Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh
Just download and install 5.7.1. Don't worry about earlier versions.
You'll need to enter your serial number to license the software.

  • Trouble installing Lightroom 4 on my Mac. Version  OS X 10.5.8

I am having trouble installing Lightroom 4 on my Mac. Version  OS X 10.5.8. I downloaded Lightroom 3 trail version no problem. Now i have purchased the licence for lightroom 4. I have downloaded the DNG file of but my apple installer will not open the download. I get a message (Operation could not be completed. com.apple.installer.page controller error-1) Any ideas?

Can I instal Lightroom on my two mac book pro?

Apple decision to remove iDVD will deter me from recommending Mac to fellow Windows users.
Many other Mac users feel the same way.
    Leave feedback here:

Now that my newly bought Mac does not provided a avenue for me to burnt DVDs, I am
    really disappointed.
If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Thanks Victoria.  I will upgrade to Maverick and see if that corrects the problem.

Trying to install Lightroom CC on second computer ( I have monthly paid account for CC)- when launching get asked for serial number - what do I do next?

    Ask for serial number http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/ccm-prompt-serial-number.html

  • How do you install CC on a second Mac?

It tells you to deactivate CC if you want to install on a THIRD Mac, but doesn't tell you what to do to install on a SECOND Mac. I've had plenty of hassle upgrading to a new Mac in general, and I don't want to risk losing my first installation by deactivating (signing out) of CC if that loses my first installation.

    Hello,
Adobe has this given these hints:
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/faq.html >>> Can I use the software I download from Creative Cloud on more than one machine? >>> Yes. Creative Cloud desktop applications can be downloaded and installed on multiple computers, regardless of operating system. However, activation is limited to two machines per individual associated with the membership. See the terms of use (General-terms) for more information. Learn how to deactivate (Activation & Deactivation Help) a Creative Cloud license on a machine.
Moreover I quoute Preran: The Adobe ID is used for the activation process. Previously you could activate only on two instances of the same OS. That restriction has been removed. Also, if you log into a third computer on which you have installed CC, you are automatically logged out of one of the previous computers where you have logged in. • I installed Lightroom 5.6 on Mac, when starting I receive an error message "An error occurred while attempting to change modules"

I installed Lightroom 5.6 (full version, not trial) on Mac, when starting I receive an error message "An error occurred while attempting to change modules".
I tried removing it and reinstalling but the same error comes up.
    Anybody have any recommendations?

A forum thread from 3 years ago talking about LR 1.x which had this problem seems to need permissions fixed or new folders created with the corrected permissions.  You might try doing a repair permissions for your user and/or run LR as an administrator user.  I am a PC person so cannot tell you exactly how to do that.

  • Format & install Leopard from a second Mac, or external drive?

    hi there,
i'm trying to format my macbook, but unfortunately my dvd drive won't read my installation disc. after looking through the forums, it appears that i can put the installation disc on an external drive, and do the formatting from there. unfortunately, though i have a drive to clone my computer onto, i don't have an additional drive to dedicate to this re-formatting. however, my roommate believes there's some way he can use his mac to to format mine. is this possible, and if so, how? is one method (external drive vs. second mac) preferable to another?
    thank you for your help.
    b

With two Macs that support FireWire you can do what you describe, but you must have a MacBook with a FireWire port. You will use Target Disk Mode.
With both computers turned off connect a FireWire cable between them (400 or 800 is fine.) Boot your MacBook into TDM. After the TDM screen appears insert the OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive of the other computer then start it normally and after the chime press and hold down the "C" key to force the computer to boot from the DVD. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. As soon as the menubar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. You can then use the Restore option of Disk Utility to clone your MacBook's drive to a FireWire drive:
How to Clone Using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external FireWire drive.
Source means the drive in your MacBook.
You may wish to test this clone to be sure it will boot a computer successfully.
Once you have cloned your MacBook's drive use Disk Utility to erase the drive so you can reinstall OS X.
