Installing lightroom on new computer

I have recently upgraded my computer and want to use my lightroom 4 on my new computer. I found my serial number to use, but it asked for the serial to my previous version. I am unable to locate this...what can I do?

No, it's not under System Info....but if you look a few options higher up the Help menu you'll see "Lightroom Registration"....click on that and you should then see BOTH serial numbers (if the window opens into the Registration section, click on the Back button to see the License info).

On your old computer, go to Help/Lightroom registration, and click on license. Or, if you registered your Lightroom with Adobe you can log into your account and the serial number will be there.

Most likely, you downloaded the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom which will not accept your serial number. You need to uninstall it, reboot, then download the standalone version of Lightroom and install that.

Installing upgrade on new computer if prior edition is not installed

I'm trying to install Lightroom 4 upgrade on my new desktop, which does not have Lightroom 3 installed. My copy of LR 3 is 800 miles away and I will not see the box until next May.
Please advise.

You only need the serial numbers. During instal lyou will be asked for a qualifying product and then must input the serial number for LR3 as a secondary number. Mylenium

you can install and use on up to two computers at any one time with your single-user license so you need not sign out from your old computer's cc app.

Forget about all the versions you already have (5.0 through to CS2). They will no longer work and the serial numbers are redundant.
Download the non-activation version of CS2 form the link provided by kglad and use the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number(s) will no longer work.
Note: there is no guarantee that CS2 will run well on Win 8.1. Try it and see.

You're blaming others for your messy bookkeeping? That's gross! Contact edu support by mail or web chat and have your credentials handy, but otherwise there is nothing anyone can do.

It sounds like you are getting an error stating that the iTunes installer cannot be run on your computer. I would try downloading the 64 bit version of iTunes from here:
iTunes 11.1.3 for Windows (64-bit)

If issues persist when trying to install it, I would try running through the steps in the article named:
Issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

Otherwise, would you mind elaborating a bit on what the error message says, word for word?

I'm using an iMac with the newest OS X Yosemite. I tried to reinstall Creative Cloud, removed all the programs. But I still get the 'old' 2014 version with the Lionhead, not the Sunglasses (october 2014) with interactive libraries. I use Adobe iPad apps, for instance Adobe Brush, Adobe Shape and Adobe Color and it's so great to have all the things you make with these apps in your Illustrator & Photoshop libraries. I actually found under EDIT then Catalog settings / then metadata that the automatic write changes to XMP had been unchecked. Once I check this, it updated and connected all the keywords to the pictures. Now when I copy and paste the keywords show up as I can now detect them in Adobe bridge when before I couldn't see them even though they were in lightroom. . Thanks for your input.

I understand that you have used Home Sharing to play the music from one computer on another, but now you would like to only use the new computer. It sounds as though you have set up the content to share between computers, but have not actually I’m ported the media from the old computer to the new one. I would suggest following the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article to import you music from the old computer to the new one. After that process is complete, you can turn off Home Sharing if you would like and the content will be in the iTunes library on your new computer.

I would like to inform that you can install and activate Creative Cloud desktop applications on two computers, regardless of operating system, for the individual associated with the Creative Cloud membership.
If you've already installed Creative Cloud on 2 machines then you need to deactive it from one of the machine.
To deactivate, you can click on the product and then go to Help> Deactivate.
To uninstall the apps follow the link mentioned below:

Probably far too old to register. Sounds like a bug, stopping the "never" selection from working. You may be stuck with it.
