Installing Lightroom on Vista x64

I've already opened a support case about this... but I figure many of you are better than Adobe support anyways. So, here goes.
I'm trying to install Photoshop Lightroom 1.1 (the latest downloadable version) on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I've read forum posts of others working, so I have no doubt that it is compatible.
On a clean installation of Vista x64, running the MSI installer gives me an error. While the error in the dialog is long and tedious to copy, the same error is found in the LOG file after the installation rolls back.
Below is the log file:
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {98CB24AD-52FB-DB5F-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x800736B3. assembly interface: IAssemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, assembly name: Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.42",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processorArchitecture="x86"

What should be done to resolve this? I have already ran Windows update and obtained the latest of everything.

The above link will take you to all previous versions for the Mac. Download the latest one for the Lightroom version you have.

  • Photosmart Premium C309 can not install on a Vista x64 laptop???

Ok, here's my issue and I do hope someone can help.
I have Windows 7 on my main PC.  My network is run by a Linksys WRT610N which is a dual band wireless router.  The Printer is successfully installed on the router and prints just fine from my Windows 7 PC.
The problem is with a Dell Latitude D630 laptop running Vista x64.  I can see the printer under network properties and the HP Network Diagnostic software sees the printer as well.  Printer and laptop are connected to Wireless G under the same band.
The problem is when I go to install the driver from HP's website.  The same ones that installed fine on the WIndows 7 system.  Version 13.1.  During the install, it scans for a Wireless device yet can't find one.  It then asks for a driver (not baked into Vista, of course).  It asks for the disk but I downloaded the software from HP and don't have the disk.  There is no INI file in the 140+mb file from HP so I can't manually install the driver.
How do I get the HP software to recognize the printer from the laptop?  Even though Windows sees it??  If I go to "add printer" in Control Panel it sees it.
    Help!

It should find a driver.  Run a Windows Update to get the latest drivers.  If that does not work.....
You can manually add the printer, however this will only provide printing function.  Scanning is done through the HP software.  Try this and maybe the software will run better.
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's host name (found on the printer's network configuration report the generated above). Click Next.
If you get a message about Additional Port Information Required, then the printer was not found using the host name. You can go back and retry or using the printer's IP address instead of the host name.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Make a choice and click Next.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • ITunes 10 Install on Win Vista x64 Failure

Unable to install iTunes 10 on Windows Vista even after uninstalling iTunes completely.
I opened iTunes and it told me that there was a new version to download and install.  So I downloaded the iTunes64Setup.exe file and executed it, making sure to run it as administrator.  Long story short, the install failed with the message.
"There is a problem with this Wndows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support or package vendor"
Things I have tried, all have failed.
    1. Redown loading the file
    2. Trying to install the 32 bit version (It says I need the 64bit version for my OS)
    3. Completely uninstalling and reinstalling.  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
    4. Turning off Anti-Virus (AVG) and trying to install
When I look at the installed programs after getting the failure message, I see that it is installing the following applications.  So it's bombing out on the next step whatever that is.

I have spent many hours scouring the internet looking for solutions to this problem without success.  The information I do find seems to be several years old and all seem to be roughly the same, which is to completely uninstall iTunes and reinstall.  Right now I have no functioning iTunes all so I no ability to update or sync my iPod.  I'm hoping someone out there has the magic answer.  Thank You.

According to Apple's iTunes 10 download page system requirements are:
    Windows Software
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, or 32-bit editions of Windows 7
64-bit editions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
QuickTime 7.6.6 or later is required
    200MB of available disk space
Screen reader support requires Window-Eyes 7.1.1 or later.

  • Install Error for Vista x64

Ever since the release of 7.5, I've been unable to update iTunes. As a result, I've been blissfully enjoying 7.4 for a while now. However, I bought an iPhone yesterday and must deal with my inability to install 7.7. In my attempts to install (both .exe and .msi files individually), I get the following error:
"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
A quick search for this error on Google and the Apple support forums leads me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346 but it unfortunately only applies to XP/ Server 2003. I figured I should target iTunes as the problem and not Vista, as I have no trouble installing anything else at all.
I'm going crazy in frustration. I've tried everything from quiet installs to editing the .msi files through Orca. Any thoughts?

I wanna ask is it my display or something else. Im using 1366x768.
Yes it is. The system requirements are there for a reason, not just for fun. These apps all have tons of palettes and require extra space for displaying timelines, compositions and video previews and even if they could be installed with such a small screen res, working with them would be no fun at all because things would get cut off or you would be forced to shuffle palettes around all the time. You really need a qualified computer.

  • NI-DAQmx 8.8 install failure on Vista x64

[not sure which board is for NI-DAQmx questions  ...]
When installing NIDAQ880f2.exe on 64bit Vista, I get a failure:
"The NI-APAL Error Files 1.2.0f0 installation has failed with the following error.
    Internal Error 2202, C:\Windows\Installer\c0702.msi, -2147287035
    Continue?"
If I continue the install there are no other failures (except for the "Your install failed .." message at the end).  However, when running my NI-DAQmx program I get an NI-DAQmx "internal error".  The same software worked last week on a Windows XP machine (with "recent" NI-DAQmx).  In both cases I'm using two *simulated 6536's.

    A few more questions:
Did you install 8.7.2 from an online download?
    Yes
When you say that the install was a "failure" what exactly does that mean, and what kinds of errors did you get?
Attached are the two errors (8.8.  I continued the install.
Does your NI-DAQmx program run without any errors?
    Yes.
When you open up Measurement and Automation Explorer and expand the "Software" tab, do you see NI-DAQmx listed there?
    Yes
When you open up Control Panel»Add/Remove Programs»National Instruments do you see NI-DAQmx listed as part of your NI software?
Yes (under Vista's Programs and Features)
Have you tried Repairing NI-DAQmx within the Add/Remove Programs?
Just now.  Also two failures; screen shots attached (oops - can only attach three - error was in NI-RPC (Part 87 of 87)
Interestingly, it only tried repairing 87 "things" whereas the install installed something like 129 "things" (as in the messages like "Part 17 of 129").

  • Windows Vista x64 with YouP-PAX XFI2007 Revision 2 Works quite w

    Dear all X-FI members
I have an X-FI Xtreme Fidelity card and install with Windows Vista x64.
. I download the latest driver from Creative SB-XFI Version 2.3.002
    2. I download the Media Source CMS5 Version 5.0.38
    3. I install both of them
    4. I download YouP-PAX XFI2007 Revesion 2 from the web filefont below:
    http://files.filefront.com/YouP_PAX_X_FI2007_Rev2/;748043;/fileinfo.html
    5. I extract to a folder. inside the folder there is an instruction as below:
Don't click on setup.exe but click on PAXsetup.exe. It gave an error.
    6. I cancel and do it again by clicking on Audio(sub-folder) and then click on
setup(sub-folder)and then click on setup.exe. It gives me a table to select.
I uncheck driver box, and click next and go through the rest installation smoothly.
    7. After restart computer. The MediaSourceGo pops up and display all features
    8. I check THX console with gane mode and entertaiment mode. All works
    9. On both Modes, all speakers 2., 4., 5. and 7. can be selected and have all sounds
    0. X_FI CMSS-3D is enabled, X_FI Crystalizer is enabled, EQ and Mixer are worked.
. I do not play games so i do not know any thing about Alchemy and game stuffs
    2. when you try to change the Speaker mode. You have to click on THX console to do
    3. By the way, even the YouP-Pax revision was working well too. I don't see anything different from YouP-Pax X-FI2007 revision 2. They both work well for me.
    4. Reminding that. When you install the applications. PleaseDon't click on setup.exe or Paxsetup.exe. But please click on Audio folder, and then setup folder. then you see the setup.exe, please go down and click on setup.exe and please uncheck the driver box and anything you don't want to be install then uncheck them. After that click on next and that is it. Restart computer.
With all the best to all of you.

Thank you for your post a reply RejZoR

  • JRE not working in Vista x64?

I have download the latest JRE build 1.5.0.10 x64 and installed it on Vista x64. The installation was very fast and OK while I try to find the java console in the control panel but I can not find it and it was not working which launch firefox to visit some web site which required the JRE.
Anything I could do to fix this?

Disclaimer: I work for the people that make MacDrive.
MacDrive does support hardware RAID arrays. MacDrive does not (yet) support Apple RAID (software) arrays.
To the OP, are the disks that you're trying to access visible within the HighPoint array management software? If yes, are they also visible in Windows Disk Management?

  • Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!

=Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!B Hey guys,
I have hooked a Teufel Concept G to my Audigy 2 ZS. The Speakers do not have internal cross mix, so unless the sound card provides a bass signal there will be NO bass at all. This has not been a problem under linux, since it automatically configures the sound card to send out bass, but very frustrating in Windows Vista x64. GTA4 is no fun without bass ;-)
After endless searching and messing with different drivers (breaking the whole vista sound system) I coincidently got bass redirection (and CMSS2 apparently) working today.
These are the steps I took:
. Fresh install of Windows Vista x64
    2. Installation of Audigy 2 drivers provided by WindowsUpdate, did not download from Creative Labs
    3. Use an old CtPanel-App which actually could activate bass redirection and CMSS2?
    I uploaded the App:?
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L6J0ZJVA
If you start the App it will take ages until it pops up, but then it works just fine. Feedback appreciated!
    regards

I also have the same problem, sound stop working after getting SP2, I updated vista to SP2 because I want to update to windows 7, with win 7 I have try all the drivers without success I still have no sound and with some drivers I get a blue screen. After 2 restarts windows 7 ask me to fix the problem with restore and vola everything works ok but no sound.

  • Vista x64 Acrobat window won't maximize or restore properly

I have tried a couple times to run Windows Vista Ultimate x64, but there have been enough problems that I've decided to go back to 32-bit. One of these problems is with Acrobat 8.1.2 Pro.
Whenever I open a PDF in Acrobat, if the window opens fully maximized and I try to restore it to a smaller window, the PDF document does not resize accordingly. It is still zoomed in to the same size as when it was maximized and as a result, I can't see the scroll bar because it's off the window. If I open the PDF in a window that is a smaller restored window and then maximize it, the PDF document again does not resize and remains the same small size that it was in the restored window with the scroll bar in the middle of the now maximized window with just a bunch of useless gray area where the document should have expanded to. The same problem occurs when the window is manually resized as well.
The only workaround I've found is to close the document and reopen it so that the window starts off either maximized, restored, or the new size that you changed it to. This is a real pain, especially when you're in the middle of doing something in the middle of the document.

So I narrowed the problem down to Logitech's SetPoint software. I started from a clean install of Windows Vista x64, installed Acrobat first, and tested it after installing each driver or program. The problem started after installing SetPoint and would stop after closing it. I also found a post on Logitech's forum describing the problem with screen shots: http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=software_mice&message.id=10402 . So I thought I'd found the source of the problem, until I had my computer completely up and running except for the SetPoint software and discovered Acrobat was having the same problem! I have basically every program that I use regularly installed, so it won't be as easy to narrow it down this time. I tried stopping services and testing Acrobat with them stopped, but never got the problem to go away. Hopefully a solution will be found soon.

  • ITunes will not work on Fresh INstall of Vista x64 SP1

I have a strange issue. I have a Windows Vista x64 with SP1 (Yes the DVD is a production DVD from Microsoft not a slip stream copy.) and I wanted to do a fresh install of Vista with SP1. Reinstalled OS and everything is running great but iTunes. When I start iTunes I get this error message about "mssip32.dll" being damaged or corrupt please reinstall the app. So I looked around good old Google and apple.com. I found several fixes about re-registering a set of dll files. So did them all, no change. Reinstalled Vista from scratch again, no change. So for the heck of it I reinstalled Vista with no SP1 installed and then applied SP1 and it works fine. I reinstalled Vista with SP1 and have been running it for over a week and everything on the system is tested and solid as a rock with no issues. The only program that will not work is iTunes. I have also tried all the way back to version 7.4 and no luck.
    Any ideas on this?

  • Problems Installing CS3 Web Premium on Windows Vista x64

I was (key word) having problems with my installation of CS3 on my brand new (3 days old) computer with Windows Vista x64. Finally after two days of installing and uninstalling, I called Adobe support. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they solved my problem (if only I had called sooner).
Having worked on this for 2 days I have seen and tried everything except of course the cure. So I wanted to put this out there for any one else that is having problems.
    The symptoms:
    - Everything seemed to install correctly (except acrobat which is another story. you can find lots of post about that.). No errors during installation. And when it finally completed installing, all that was left was to click "finish" which indicated to me that installation was successful.
    - Open Photoshop. PS would open and immediately stop working. Vista said it was not responding.
    - Open any of the other programs and the little vista circle would spin for 5 to 10 seconds then nothing. Program did not start to open. Just nothing.
The problem: Unbeknown to me (never saw an error message) "Licensing for this product had stopped working". When I described above symptoms tech support went straight to this.
The solution: Download the Licensing Service Update and run it. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401528
Once I ran this, Photoshop opened and let me enter serial number and activate CS3.
If after your installation, Photoshop or any of the other programs seem to get stuck or you never get the dialog box to enter serial number, the Licensing Service Update should fix things for you.

wow...thank you so much for this posting. I just got home & followed your steps and now I have CS3 up & running. After 4 days of stressing out, finally someone was able to assist. Why can't the Adobe Experts & Employees on these forums supply this much needed information?????
I seriously understand why people want to get crack versions of this software rather than paying hundreds of dollars like us and avoid all this BS and get no support whatsoever!
    Thank you again!!

  • Cannot install Photoshop CS4 Trial on Vista x64

    Hi everyone,
I got a big problem, I download the Photoshop Extended Trial Version and extracted it without any problem. But when I double-click setup.exe nothing happens. It seems to popup a window, but its gone every fast. When I open the Taskmanager I can see the setup.exe under processes, but nothing happens also after hours of waiting.
    My PC:
    Intel E8400
    4 Gb G.Skill DDR1000
    Gigabyte P35-DS3
    Gecube HD3780 X-Turbo
    Windows Vista x64 Ultimate
    C: (NTFS) 94800 MB (18418 MB frei)
H: (NTFS) 61440 MB (27418 MB frei) <--- here I extracted the Folder
    What I had tried beforce:
    - Installing in safe-mode = same problem
    - register jscript.dll myself = same problem
    - Uninstall CS3 = same problem
    - Using AdobeCS3Cleaner
    - Using AdobeCS3Cleaner -> found nothing...
    - delete last things of CS3 with TuneUp

    Peter,
To avoid complications, I would have uninstalled the trial first, then run the Adobe clean-up script, followed by the installation of the full version using the default location.
This has both a 32 bit and a 64 bit component, installed as follows:
    32 bit C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4
    64 bit C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit*)
The 64 bit version will be the default on a 64 bit OS.
In your situation I would uninstall everything related to CS4, run the Adobe clean-up script and start again.
    * Adobe should note that
    bits have a small
b and Bytes have a big one!
