  • Error when installing LMS 4.2.1

    Hi,
I built a new Win2k8 server meeting all prereq's. This is a new install of LMS. Right at the beginning of the install process, i get this error and the install halts.
    Any thouhgts?
    Thanks in advance.

Please confirm if this error is seen while installing LMS 4.2.1? I assume the newly built server has LMS 4.2 already installed, as it is mandatory.
Also, I would urge to follow this guide and see you adhere to all the mentioned points :

  • UCS support for ISO install LMS 4.1

    Hi,
can we install the ISO LMS 4.1 directly on a UCS platform?
    What platform UCS is supported?
Do you have install experiences you can share?
Is the ISO LMS 4.1 a Linux implementation?
    kind regards
    Ad

    I installed it onto of Windows 2006 R2 on a UCS C200 M2.
You can turn anything into an iso, it just a format of how things are writen on a disk. That's why you can mount and iso file as a disk.
The linux version comes as an ".ova " virtual appliance you can load into a VMware host.
I think the machine could probably run an ESX server and run 2 or 3 LMS servers depending on the number of devices to manage.
For performance reasons buying a bigger box won't help. I've installed LMS on pretty heavy systems and GUI performance remains bad.
I think the problem is with the tomcat part of things. That process is responsable for the web gui. AFAIK Cisco provides no guidance on this.
Cisco says performance will be better in the next version as usual.

  • Installing LMS problems

When we replaced our Nortel 8600s with Catalyst 4507s last year we also purchased LMS as a replacement to Nortel's Enterprise Switch Manager. ESM was extremely easy to configure and use but LMS seemed overly complicated in comparision. I installed it but gave up configuring it. Now I'm revisiting it and would like to get it up and running but have run into lots of problems installing it let alone trying to configure it.
Last year I had a W2K3 server that I installed LMS4.0 on. It was pretty easy to install and worked straight away with no problems that I remember. Now I have a W2K8R2 server and when I attempted to install LMS4.0 it said it was not a supported OS. I found an official Cisco patch that I ran and selected the LMS4.0 setup.exe when requested. This installed but all services were set to manual. Starting the services worked but the web page would still give a 503 (I think) error. I uninstalled and attempted to run the patch and select setup.exe but it would not go any further and would not let me install it.
I then managed to download LMS4.2.1 and attempted to install it on the same W2K8R2 server but it fails almost immediately with
"ERROR: The file with the name C:\PROGRA~2\CSCOpx\setup does not exist". I've tried the obvious like restarting the server but it still fails?
I could build a new W2K8R2 server (virtual) and try again. Maybe the failed LMS4.0 installation is screwing something up?
    Any ideas?

Seems the residuesn of LMS 4.0 are creating issue. Try to run the clean_system.exe to remove everything related to ciscoworks and also see the registry if any CIsco related folder is still under Computer/HKLM/Software.
LMS 4.2.1 is an incremental patch which requires LMS 4.2 to be installed previosly. You can try to install LMS 4.2 directly which should work, but LMS 4.0 and LMS 4.2 have diffrent individual licenses.
If you got your LMS software with SAS contract, there are chances you can get LMS 4.2 software for free, but check with your accounts team for more details on it.
If you prepared Win2k8 server as  VM, i guess it will be much easier to deply it from scratch if you have a template.

  • Installing LMS Content Server for EBS 12.1.3

I'm looking into setting up a Content Server for LMS.  We're on 12.1.3 and I've read Oracle Learning Management Content Server setup on Oracle 10gAS - Releases 11i and 12 [ID 427311.1].  I've installed 10g iAS in the past and understand what I need to do.  This note was updated in May of this year so I'm assuming it's up to date.  It says 'Install 10g Application server (preferably 10.1.3.0.0 )'.  How can I get version 10.1.3.0.0?
    thanks

  • Just installed LMS 3.2 and get "Page Cannot Be Displayed" when trying to access it.

I installed CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 on a Server 2008 SP1 machine.  Installation went fine.  I am using IE 7.0 on the server to access LMS 3.2.  I get the web interface for the unsecure site but when I provide my login credentials, I get redirected to the 443 site and the generic IE Page Cannot Be Displayed is returned.

Has anyone experienced simmilar problem during 4.0 installation?
    BR,
    Jasmina

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply Joseph!
Setting DEP to only protect critical Windows system files, and re-installing LMS afterwards, did not help. I'm still getting the error during installation.
I believe all other installation pre-requisites are fulfilled.
After the installation (both: the first and the second time), I noticed some additional problems:
e.g. Devices are successfully discovered, but after server reboot, all devices disappear from DCR!?!?
Trying to list All devices in DCR says that there are no devices (0 devices)...
Installation, and also LMS processes start after server reboot, seems to be quite slow (~90min for installation, and ~10min for LMS to become relatively functional after server reboot).
When trying to open "Inventory> Job Browsers> Device Credentials Verification"window, I get the error: "CDA0114: Operation failed while connecting to JRM. Make sure jrm and/or CTMJrmWrapper services are up and running."
I opened a TAC case, but no solution for now.
If anyone has some additional idea, it is most welcomed
Anyway, I will post a solution here if I get one from the TAC...
    Best regards,
    Jasmina

  • Question about LMS 3.2 install on Win Server 2k8 R2

    Hello,
Dumb question, I know, but I have no pride so here goes...
I've checked the documentation and just want to confirm the problem I'm having:
When I try to install LMS 3.2 on a virtual Win Server 2k8 R2 Datacenter platform I get the following error:
"You cannot install CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 application(s) on an unsupported operating system or when Terminal Services is running on the supported Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition, and Windows 2003 R2 Server platforms"
I am, in fact, trying to install the application via a remote session so Terminal Services is running.  I assume this means that my problem is simply that I'm running terminal services since all the different versions of Server 2k8 appear to be supported?
    Thanks very much in advance.

LMS supports Terminal Services provided the server is running in Remote Administration mode.  Remote Application mode will not work.  That said, Windows 2008 R2 is not supported, and LMS will, in fact, not work on this version.  Support for 2008 R2 is slated for December or January.

  • Is it possible to Unstall LMS software and install it on another platform??

    Hi people,
I had installed Ciscoworks LMS 3.1 software in  Window server 2003 and was running just fine but now i want to reinstall it on a sun solaries platform.what will be the effect of doing this and whether there are any issues that i may encounter while doing this please assist me coz i want to reinstall it ASAP.
    Thanks

As yjdabear said, it will be a fresh installation, so think about installing LMS 3.2 instead of LMS 3.1 your license file is valid for that version. You can get an eval version from www.cisco.com/go/nmsevals click on "Network Management Evaluation Products" at the top of the page or enter your contract number after following the link on this site www.cisco.com/upgrade

  • LMS 4.0 not starting after upgrade

I am running LMS 4.0 on Windows 2008 Server, recently changed from eval copy to licensed (for 750 devices). It had been running and working for several months. The license application worked fine and it ran a couple days that way.
I then downloaded the CiscoWorks_LMS_4.0.x_WIN2K8_R2.exe patch so that I could upgrade the server OS to Windows Server 2008 R2. Per the instructions in the patch readme I first proceeded to upgrade my server to 2008 R2. Then I installed the patch (patch only).
After doing this (and restarting the server) CiscoWorks daemons will no longer start. I have confirmed my paging file size (swap) is set to start at 8192 MB (8 GB) as required. I tried manuallly starting (net start crmdmgtd) without sucess. I see the initial dmgt_start_lock lock file in C:\Program Files (x86)\CSCOpx\objects\dmgt\ready but none of the other process lock files ever pop in and out as they would normally and the processes (and thus CiscoWorks server) never start.
    Any suggestions?

The "patch" is as far as I know some sort of launcher for the installation setup.exe.
When I run the "patch" al I get is the question where my installer is, so I can install LMS.
I have not yet tried to run this on an existing LMS installation. Nor upgrading the OS on an LMS installation :-)
Does the "patch" have a different behavior when LMS is already installed?
If not, I suggest to use the cleansystem.exe in the CSCOpx\bin to remove the current install, reinstall use the patch to launch the installer and restore a backup
    Cheers,
    Michel
