Installing Logic and the audio interface
I will finish reading all the manuals one day soon… but meanwhile, and because I haven’t found anything on the subject yet, can anyone please tell me if I should I install Logic first and then install the Audio Interface (MOTU 828 Mk3), or should it be the other way around? Or is it of any difference??
(I know with Cubase u must install the Audio interface first – but that’s a totally different scenario)

Install both, in whichever order you prefer, then restart and configure *Audio MIDI Setup*, and/or any dedicated MOTU software (drivers, control panel) and Logic (audio and MIDI preferences/settings).

Thanks for any help.Thanks for moving this topic...I couldn't find it in the Photoshop General Discussion though, so I'm replying here. I managed to find a workaround (not a solution). After finally finding another text adjustment setting*, and despite warnings from my computer, I was able to find a resolution combination that worked, and made Photoshop look normal. I looked at my other (almost identical) laptop where Photoshop IS working and used that resolution.
(Why couldn't a single support person from four companies, in hours of chats and calls, think of that?) After changing the resolution, things got huge, but a popup came up saying 250%, which altered me. I changed it to 125%, then all was good.
(* the "windows 8 display setting screens do not show this adjustment, you have to go to another control panel window to see the text adjustment....Windows 8 is so cryptic.),
Hopefully this will save some other ******* days of headache. Unfortunately I can't run at my new laptop's resolution but at least I can get back to work.
Default setting - 3200x1800 250% text size
New setting - 1600x900 125% text size
Maybe Adobe could fix this problem. All my other Adobe apps look fine at 3200x1800.

When you connect the audio interface to usb or firewire grained acoustic distortion, there is no loud noise in the acoustics! In the old "iMac24 Snow Leopard" was not like this!
Just bought the iMac21 lion, installed the new drivers and the two interfaces of different firms is presented, this acoustic problem.
I understand it comes from a usb and firewire!?

Sorry for my englishWell, it's been a few days and with no response I thought I'd look for another solution. I've been trying this software called iVPN, apparently it's like a front-end to OS X's built-in VPN server. Anyway, I disabled the VPN Server from the Server app, turned on iVPN and was VPN-ing from my iPhone over 3G in notime. It's a great app, though it kinda ***** that the server can't do what it's built to do. Since VPN was the big reason I got Server in the first place, I'll probably uninstall it and stick with OS X's built-in file sharing and iVPN.

I have just bought a 2011 iMac (2.5 ghz, 4gb) and logic express 9, and when i installed logic and tried to run it i had a message saying 'you can't use this version of the application logic express with this version of Mac OS X. How do i sort this out!? It is very frustrating as the main reason i have bought a mac is to use logic! Any help would be great as i am a complete novice when it comes to Macs!
You're probably on OS X Lion?
I had the same problem as you. I used Software Update to update Logic Express to the latest version, and then it ran without any problems. -

Few days ago I upgraded my Macbook Pro to 10.9.4 Mavericks And I’m using the sound card from the Virus Ti for all audio in/out and when I’m not producing music , I usually close my Logic and I use the Virus Ti as a sound card for listening to Soundcloud or iTunes on my Mac and the audio usually come out of my studio monitors , but right now even when everything is connected , the sounds from the web site is coming out from my Macbook speaker instead of my studio monitors ? and I already checked the “Output/Input” in preference and is already say Access Virus Ti and I already repair disc too ! ,
Right now when I’m using Logic to produced with Virus sound card everything is working fine and the audio is coming out of my monitors but as soon as I turn off Logic to use Youtube or other web site, the audio automatic switch back to laptop speakers ?
If anyone had this problems with their audio interface and OS 10.9.4 , please advise !

First, I'd make sure the audio interface is selected in GB's preferences.
If there's still a problem, you could always try throwing out both GB preference files, which often fixes mystery problems. However, I've found that problems with the computer not seeing the interface can sometimes be fixed by restarting the computer and cycling the interface of and on (occasionally I've needed to do this twice). And then confirm the interface is seen/selected in GB's preferences (also - you can check more universally in the Audio/MIDI Setup utility). -
Live Capture with a camera via firewire and usb audio interface
I am trying to do a live capture through Final Cut 7.
I want the video feed through the firewire from my HVX200 and the audio feed from a 4 channel usb audio interface (Alesis iO4).
When I have both audio and video input coming in from the HVX200, the live capture works fine.
However, when I change the audio input so that it is coming from the usb audio interface, final cut has an error message saying "Video is not available."
During the preview, I see the video clearly and am getting levels from the iO4.
But when I try to capture, I get the error message.
Is it a processor issue (I've attached my specs below) with problems handling 2 separate inputs?
I'm not quite sure what the problem is.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Yes I am changing the Capture preset to iO4. Once that happens, it lets me run both the camera and the iO4 into the laptop but then an error message pops up the moment I try to capture it.
I was only trying to use 3 out of the 4 channels of the iO4.

Why is the video and the audio in iTunes drifting out of sync?
This has been happening for awhile, and it is annoying me quite a bit. I can run the video find directly through QuickTime. I have been serching for an asnwer for awhile now. I have the most recent version of iTunes 10.5. Help would be appreciated. System specs below.

The video usually begins normal, but within seconds the audio and the video drifts out of sync. Pausing and playing the video helped for a few seconds, but it quickly drifs out again. Project sample rate vs the audio interface clock
I used Audition for digitizing archival audio and I mostly work in 96 kHz because it's the current archival standard for analog audio, however I occasionally need to transfer DAT or ADAT tapes at 44.1 or 48 kHz. One thing I noticed when I went to change the project format was that my audio interface clock did not change and match the multitrack settings. I was able to change the clock manually but I had to go to the Audio Hardware preferences.
I find this behavior for a DAW very strange. If I have a multitrack open of one bit rate and my clock set to another, how does that work? How does Audition 6 play and record audio at differnt sample rates than the interface clock? When I open a multitrack that's 96 kHz and my clock is set to 48, what sample rate am I getting? The audio file being saved says 96 kHz but is it?

Surely, the "extra step" you refer to is not necessary if AA is resampling the audio to match the desired sample rate?
As for the "option" to "lock the audio interface clock to the opened project", for those cards, like mine, which cannot have their sample rate changed by the audio software, how is that going to work? I suspect this was how AA CS5.5 and earlier worked: unless session/project and interface sample rate matched, no audio. I much prefer the current "resampling" method; no necessity to have to think about soundcard/interface settings every time a different sample rate is being used.
FWIW, if I want to record something at 44.1 I always ensure the card and AA settings are 44.1; but for "playback" (or video editing which I do quite a lot of and which requires 48 - my video editor software will not "play" unless the audio sampling rate of the card is 48 - ) 48 is my "default" setting.

I was using Lightroom v5.6 when a notice came up to update to v5.7. So I did the download but it would not work or install. And the 5.6 version will not work now either. So I am screwed - no 5.6 or 5.7 and no access to Adobe Tech. Any help will be appreciated.
My iPod is a click wheel...I think that's fifth generation?
I've always used my firewire cable to update my iPod. I've tried using USB in the past but for some reason it always says that my iPod has low battery and won't let me update it, so I just use firewire. Can I not use firewire with itunes 7?

I have a brand new Macbook model A1502. I am taking online college classes that incorporate youtube tutorial videos. I can watch the videos if I don't maximize the screen to full screen. When in full screen, the video freezes immediately and the audio continues uninterrupted. I can press escape and go back to the previous screen and the video continues to play with no problems. Can anyone help me please? This machine is literally just out of the box with maybe an hour of use. Thanks in advance
First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Trying to re-install iTunes and the message "Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." But I don't know what to do? Please can someone help, I'm not the most technologically advanced person.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Hmmm? A quick google search for external optical readers turns up many in the $20-$40 (USD) range. Didn't convert to £ or include any VAT charges, but you should be able to get something significantly cheaper than £70. That's your simplest solution.

Just installed Lion and the Magic TrackPad and I am having a problem with one click commands. I have to hit the pad fairly hard with one finger to get it to accept the command. Is this normal, is there another way that I am suppose to execute commands?
No you just need to turn on Tap to Click. Go into System Preferences - Trackpad and click the Point to Click tab and select the first box which will say Tap to Click and you should be in business.
