Installing Logic on new Mac

Hi
On my current MacBook pro I'm running Logic 9 pro which was an upgrade from Logic 8. I'm awaiting delivery of a new MacBook pro which I plan to install Logic on as a new installation (rather than using migration assistant or setup assistant) My question is do I have to install Logic 8 then the Logic 9 upgrade as I have previously done on my current Mac? or can I just install the Logic 9 upgrade and if so, does the Logic 9 install discs contain all the Apple jam packs? Thanks in advance!

Yes,
The Logic 9 Upgrade is identical to the full retail version...
Same number of Discs, same content...
Well it was when I got it...
Just make sure you have your Logic 8 Serial Number handy for when you are asked for it...
Also, if your New Mac ships with lion, you will need to run Software Update to get the latest version of Logic 9 for Lion...
Or you can Download it from Here

  • Transferring pre-installed logic to new Mac

I'm about to buy a new Mac and I'm wondering if all the files on my old macbook will transfer directly to the new computer without any hassle. My macbook was bought with Logic Express 7 (at the time) pre-installed and I've since updated to Logic 8 and then 9. Will the migration assistant transfer Logic along with the upgrades with no problems and, if so, can I then upgrade on my new mac to Logic studio? I'm willing to buy Logic Studio for £400 but, obviously, I'd prefer to buy the upgrade, as I already have Logic Express. Also, I have a downloaded Orange Vocoder plug in - will this transfer and work automatically as well?? Cheers dudes. Dan

    Hi,
if you buy the Studio Upgrade, just install this onto your new Mac. However, you must own and keep all the old versions with their serial numbers, because they belong to your upgrade chain, but you mustn't install them onto a new mac before upgrading.

  • Have a student / teacher subscription. Trying to download and install applications on new mac pro with yosemite

Have a student / teacher subscription. Trying to download and install applications on new mac pro with yosemite. Old applications still work on older Mac Pro. Can't download any applications. Creative Cloud website and desktop app both fail. Very frustrating. Anyone having this problem?

Chas50 I would recommend removing the currently installed Adobe Creative software.  You can then install the new versions of the Adobe Creative software included with your membership.  You can find complete details regarding the uninstall and install process at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.

Do not transfer.  Install using installation files.  If you need to you can download most older applications thru the following page...

First of all, what is asking for a reinstall? Did you move PSE from another computer?

No. The Mac OS X and iOS versions of an application are separate products, and if the developer chooses, purchases.

  • Old Logic + a new Mac = can't open old projects anymore. De/re-install?

    Hi everybody,
maybe someone can advise me with this problem:
I bought a new Mac recently, did install a fresh OSX 10.5 and then used migration assistant to transfer my old user account from my old Mac (10.4), incl. all files. It did take a night, but it worked - or so I thought. Actually all applications work as they should, except for Logic. I had to re-authorize a few plug-ins, but then all seemed to be cool. I can open a new project, record audio, midi, add plug-ins, all cool. But I ended up with 3 problems, which are really annoying:
    1) EXS24 couldn't find most of the samples anymore. Most, not all. I have 4 internal HDs, one for the system, one for audio recordings, one for samples, one for "other stuff". 2 of these disks came from the old Mac, 2 new ones, content copied from old Mac. In the EXS prefs I set "search for samples" to "all volumes", but it still didn't work perfectly. Finally I bought EXSManager Pro and now it seems to work again. I didn't try ALL samples yet, but the +/- 20 EXS instruments I tried, did load all samples.
    2) Space Designer doesn't load impulse responses for the presets anymore. They're there and at the right place. I can load SD and import an existing impulse file, no problem. But the presets don't find the required files anymore.
    3) Now - and this is the worst one - I can't open old projects anymore. I just can't. It starts loading, I see the rainbow thing (don't know the right word), it turns black & white and that's it. You can watch this forever and nothing happens.
    Regarding all 3 issues:
I don't get any error messages. Logic doesn't crash, I can't click 'apple-.' to stop loading/searching. It just doesn't open the file. I had a coffee, a pizza, I let it try for 2 hrs+, but neither did it load a SD preset or an old song file. All I can do is manually quit Logic.
But when I open Logic with the CTRL-button down and click "no" to core audio I can open all songs. Of course I can not hear a tone then, but it's all there. Opening a song takes 3 secs then. I tried to safe a song then with a different name, re-started Logic with core audio but same result. It get's "stuck".
Of course I checked user permissions and all the usual trouble shooting clicks, but still Logic has a mind of it's own. I installed a 2nd user with admin rights, though still the same, plus all the 3rd party plug-ins refusing to work.
Now I was thinking, should I de-install Logic and re-install from the original CDs maybe. And if so, is there anything special I have to take care of? Like manually removing any prefs or cache files?
Or completely re-install the whole Mac? (pleeease no....)...
If anybody has any idea, it'd be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance and for the energy to read my little novel here,
    cheers,
    Joern

Ok, either my question was too long or nobody seems to have an answer. Sad, either way
Here's something I found out in the meantime, maybe this is interesting for somebody or maybe - problem's not totally solved - enough info for any of you to give me further advice.
When I start Logic Core Audio driver de-activated, I can open old songs. Then I save them in a new folder with all audio files and a new name. And I remove all EXS24 instruments as well as the Space Designer. I quit Logic, re-open with Core Audio activated and I can open the song.
Problem no.1: EXS24 instruments don't find the appropriate samples, but EXSMananger Pro did help me with this. Same problem with Space Designer, which doesn't find the impulse responses, connected to a certain preset.
Two questions, every idea would be great!
    - Is there any way to teach Space Designer Presets where to look for impulse respones. I can load IR samples directly and create a new preset, but I can't use my old ones.
    - Is it possible to install Logic from scratch over an existing version? Or how should I de-install everything connected with Logic and then install a fresh version from CD?
    Thank you again,
    Joern

  • I can't open pages because it tells me that I need a new program. I have 08 and 09 installed on my new Mac bookair but 08 seems to be the default.

I have a new mac book air and it shows that it has pages 08 and the newer version pages 09 installed, but it only opens in pages 08. Now pages tells me I need to update the progammbefore I can open pages again. Even documents that I have created only yesterday won't open anymore. Any ideas?

I bought the computer and pages 09 via the apple store online and both programs were on the computer when it came. Up to the error message I hadn't even checked which one of the pages program I was working with.

  • Problem installing CS4 onto new Mac OS X

    Can someone please help me?!
I have just tried to install my Photoshop CS4 Extended onto my brand spankin' new Mac computer and when I tried to open the application this message comes up:
"You can't open the application 'Adobe Photoshop SC4' because it is not supported on this architecture". What exactly does this mean?
I have the latest IMac so I don't see why this would be a problem.

    Hi Cherry!
Usually this happens, when Photoshop CS4 was not successfully installed.
    Reinstall it.
If the option to install Photoshop CS4 is not available, de-install it first. Either use the installer or manually remove the Adobe Photoshop CS4 folder.
    Cheers,

  • I have Aperture 2 in CD and want to install it in new mac mini

    Hi,
I have Aperture 2 in a CD which I installed in my old "white" mac book about 6 yeas ago.
I have now bought a new mac mini and I want to install Aperture again.  Of course the new mac mini does not have a CD port.
Question is: how can I download Aperture 2 from the Store so that I enter the software serial  number and buy the required upgrades on top of it.
    thanks
    ratoslibres

If it is new and is running Yosemite you cant run Aperture 2, it is not compatible and ill not run.
In addition Aperture 2 is not available anywhere as a download. If you what to run Aperture you will need to purchase Aperture 3 from the Mac App Store.
    regards

  • Error: Product key has been revoked...after installing on my new MAC (employee download)

I am having issues installing Premier Pro CS6 for Mac.   I purchased this via the employee program with a link to download. When I insert the product code after running the install program, it says that the product key it has been revoked and to contact Adobe. I have used it in the past so I don’t know why it says that after I have already paid for it. I bought a new MAC so that’s why I want to install it on this computer.  Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Installing SSD in new mac pro

    hello,
looking into purchasing an ssd for soon arriving mac pro.
already purchased a 16g memory and a 2T HHD upgrade.
i came across the speed tests for ssd on start up and the ssd's seems pretty impressive. (OWC site)
I'm going to be using the new mac pro primarily for processing landscape photograpy.
PS5, LR5, autopan pro and the nik software are the programs that i wil be running most ot the time.
    files sizes sometimes reach 1+g.
    Question.
If i install a new SSD, probably a 120G Mercury Electra from OWC in one of my bays what should be on it? Just OS?
I have a 1T HHD that came with the MPro and I have another 2T HHD that I purchased for photo storage.
Not quite sure how the two different types of HD's will work together from a speed standpoint
Very new to this so any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.
    Thank you.
    Owen

Some folks buy themselves an SSD thinking they are going to get a great a performance boost. But the boost they get by only adding an SSD is that Applications launch faster, and not much else.
If you want a bigger boost, and a boost across the board, move the user files off, leaving only System, Applications, Library, and the hidden unix files behind on the Boot Drive. Mac OS X is hugely over-configured on main memory. It is incessantly going back to the Boot Drive for a little of this, a little of that, and it moves the drive heads away from the data files you want to be reading and writing. Once you are not moving the heads away from your data to pick up system stuff all the time, your data drive will get faster.
The big payback is using a Boot drive. An incremental improvement is using an especially fast spinning drive like a VelociRaptor 10K for your Boot Drive. An additional incremental improvement is using an SSD for your Boot drive.
If you just add an SSD, but do not segregate the System, etc on its own drive, you pay top dollar for launching Applications faster. A big disappointment.

  • Confused about Install procedure on new Mac Pro

With 10.4 on my old G4 I would put the DVD in, hit install and the machine would restart. The installer could come up and I could select the disk utility and do a repair disk and disk permissions from the install disk before my actual install. With my Mac Pro, when I hit install from the disk it goes right into the installation process. I began that process thinking it would first restart the machine and give me a choice to access the disc utility first, but it looked like it was going straight to install. So I stopped the dang thing quickly. Now I've got this .DS_Store icon on my desktop that won't go away. A few questions...
    1. How do I get to Disc Utility on the boot DVD and do maintenance?
    2. How do I get rid of the dang .DS_Store icon on my desktop?
    3. I'm experiencing quirky behavior on my Mac Pro, like jitters in Mail sometimes when I just open and start to scroll through notes in my inbox, slow opening of windows, etc., and my pointer suddenly going from the center of the screen to up to the top of the screen for no apparent reason. What is the best recommended repair and maintenance third-party utility for 10.6.3 Snow Leopard, to keep my Mac running optimally? I used to use SOCKS and Tech Tool Pro for 10.4.
Thank you so much for any help you can give me.
    Leonard

    Arch,
Every time I open Mail all the mail messages jitter for about 2 seconds, and my pointer, several times during the day, will jump up from, say, the middle of the screen to the top of the screen and I have to move it down. Odd. But it doesn't seem to be affected by how long I'm on the machine, or whether I just turn it on or whatever. Completely random. Plus, sometimes other drives won't open quickly... I mean I have another SATA drive that when I click on it, it won't open for about 6 or 7 seconds. The drive IS about 2 years old, it could be the drive, but it opened quickly on my old machine. That seems odd for a supposed speed demon like the Mac Pro. So I just wanted to run the Disk Utility from the install disk to try and see if that would stop these small issues. I brought a couple of apps over from my old machine. Photoshop CS and InDesign CS. I realize they aren't running optimum, and the new versions are native. But I can't afford them right now and I had several people tell me they will work, just slower. Is it just wrong to use them at all? These people are having no problems with them like I'm having. I did not use Migration Assistant. I'm using the mouse that came with my computer, with the scroll button top forward center. Yes, my only desire was to use the install disk to repair the disk as I thought a damaged disk would not repair itself as well as the install disk would. Would just a basic install work and get rid of these ghost icons?
    Thanks again for your help,
    Leonard
