Installing Lotus Symphony 3 on arch

Hi, Lotus Symphony 3 has been just released. http://symphony.lotus.com/software/lotu … e.nsf/home
Unfortunetly there are only packages for deb and rpm format. I thought about installing *.deb file by using dpkg from aur, but I will tried it later.
Is anyone tried to install it on arch? If so how to make it?

Sorry to [quasi] necrobump.(only been 4 months), but I got this working. I use a 64bit system, so my process involves doing this in a 32bit chroot. If you run only i686, ignore those steps.
- [for x86_64] follow the WIKI on installing a 32bit chroot
--- get pacman functioning properly in the chroot
- use the package list from my wiki POST on running Lotus Notes from a 32bit chroot to make sure all of those dependencies are isntalled.
- install rpm somehow (I use yaourt).
--- Also, I've had better success with Lotus Notes with rpm-org, the 4.8ish version of rpm than I have with the current version of 5.2ish. If you install rpm and have issues, consider removing it and installing rpm-org instead.
- get Lotus Symphony and the fix pack and:
# rpm -ivh --nodeps symphony-3.0.i586.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:symphony ########################################### [100%]
# rpm -ivh --nodeps lotus_symphony3_fp1.i586.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:symphony_fixpack ########################################### [100%]
Then simply run
/usr/bin/symphony
and accept the license agreement, and you're good to go. I'm hoping that whatever issues existed were due to missing packages that might be fixed based on the list I compiled for Lotus Notes to run. I am running from a fresh chroot and have only installed the packages listed in the previously mentioned wiki article I wrote except for having installed lxappearance/obconf to change my theme/icons for the 32bit X apps. If it runs for me, I hope it runs for you!

Did you notice that the symphony package is flagged out-of-date? Hasn't been updated since it was submitted over 18 months ago, and one of the many things that has happened since then is that eel is no longer in the Arch repos. The original submitter has not touched it or the other associated packages since then - you could try contacting him for help, although given the lack of activity, there's a possibility he's no longer using Arch.
All the above information is either in the AUR or archlinux.org - try doing some research for yourself next time.

  • Installation problems with Lotus Symphony

Intallation fails with no error reason.  I had Lotus Symphony working on my older iMac.  The software did not work after system migration to the new machine. Attempts to re-install have failed.

    Hi,
I could install XE in my (physical) machine with FC4 without any particular issue (just had to add some swap space); I also had to remove reference to ORACLE* environment variables prior to install the rpm (the rpm install warned me about both of the issues)
I just miss the menu icons that are correctly installed in suse: did you manage to have them?

  • New IBM free download of "Lotus Symphony" spreadsheet

Will the new IBM free spreadsheet software "Lotus Symphony" work OK on an Apple Computer. When one goes to download it it gives a choice of dowloading into "Windows" or "Linux" but doesn't say anything about being compatible with a Mac. Anybody know if it OK to dowload to an iMac?

The A1173 appears to be an Intel model based on my Google search. If true, you can install any Intel based virtualization solution to run Windows or Linux on your Mac listed here*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#WINTEL
thus run the Lotus Symphony download in those environments.
Though if you are interested in OpenOffice clones, see my other FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/crossplatform.html
According to my Google search, Lotus Symphony's latest release is based on OpenOffice. There are other OpenOffice clones that are made for Mac OS X native.

  • Is Lotus Symphony compatible with Mac Lion

I just installed Mac Lion 10.7.1.  When trying to open Lotus Symphony 3, it doesn't work

I figured it out.  Instead of trying to open Symphony from the dock, I opened one of my documents from Finder.  Symphony then opened.  I was also able to open it from the dock after that as well.

  • Problem when Installing from Existing Linux with Arch's Image

    Hey!
I'm just getting started with Arch Linux. I made a 20GB unallocated space between my Win7 and Ubuntu partitions, created a new ext4 partition and I'm currently following this guide ("another method" section) in order to install my first attempt of Arch Linux.
I'm on a 64-bit Ubuntu and want to install a 64-bit Arch Linux too, so I'm using the image archlinux-2011.08.19-core-x86_64.iso and in the process of following the instructions in the mentioned guide, I replaced i686 by x86_64.
The problem comes up when I try to do the chrooting, where I get:
chroot: failed to run command `/bin/bash': No such file or directory
Any idea what could I be doing wrong?
    Thanks!

Ok, I had just messed up when mounting the different directories. Sorry for the noise...
Anyway, found more errors when running:
    aif -p interactive
about not finding /lib/modules/3.0.0-13-generic/modules.dep... what makes me think that this guide is intended to be followed when running also an Arch as the Existing Linux.
I think I'll just go with the flash drive option...
    Cheers!

  • Mountain Lion Notes App missing (IT installed Lotus Notes over the top)

My IT department installed Lotus Notes and it installed over the top of the Mountain Lion Notes application and thus deleted it. I renamed the Lotus Notes application (originally just called Notes). How do I get the original OSX notes application back?

Ok, found the solution, download mountain lion from the app store once more, then use Pacifist to extract the notes appllication again.

  • MSWord vs. My Mac and Lotus Symphony

I'm trying to reset the default application to open .doc and .docx files from MSWord to IBM Lotus Symphony, but whenever I hit "Change All" in the Info box, it immediately resets to MSWord.
Is there any way to force it to accept the binding I want, short of uninstalling MSWord? I'll do that if I have to, but it would be nice to keep it around for truly intractable files.

be sure that your monitor color controls are setup correctly.
    Use a gamma
    setting tool.
On the PC I use QuickGamma and QuickMonitorProfile both free.
for a MAC I would recommend Gamma Control
    http://michelf.com/projects/gamma-control/
    also free.

  • Can i receive email from my work lotus notes account with out installing lotus notes

    Hi
Can i receive my work email to my mac with out installing lotus notes on it

A new development: I've tried sending emails from the alias several times over the past 24 hours, but in general I've deleted them if they haven't sent within about half an hour.
However, one of the messages I left sitting in the outbox did send successfully in the end, but this took about an hour.
So: perhaps my problem is not in fact that I am completely unable to send mail from my alias, but that I can only do so intermittently and extremely slowly, and by ignoring the "cannot send" message.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Unable to install breqn and cadabra on Arch Linux

    Hi,
I am running Arch Linux (64-bit) on my Dell XPS 15 laptop. I use LaTeX for all my scientific typesetting. When I was running Fedora on this system earlier, I used Cadabra, an open source symbolic manipulation program suited to calculations in quantum field theory. Surprisingly, a search on google did not reveal anything useful. Apparently the problem is validating the package 'breqn' which is a prerequisite for cadabra, but fails to install through yaourt because of some md5 checksum validation error (as I understand). And it seems there is no override for this in yaourt.
Any suggestions to help me get cadabra to work will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Your problem is that the file the PKGBUILD is downloading is not the same one that the creator of the PKGBUILD was working with.
an md5sum is a hash (a fingerprint, if you will) of the file.  When the PKGBUILD was created, that fingerprint was included in the file.  That yours does not match means one of two things:
    1. The file you downloaded was either corrupt, or has been tampered with, or
    2. The file you downloaded has been updated by the author, but the PKGBUILD has not been updated.
If it is case 1, stop.  If it is case 2, you can do the following:
The Cadabra PKGBUILD was updated last June (almost a year ago).  You can either post a comment to the AUR and see if the maintainer will fix it, or you can fix the PKGBUILD yourself and (hopefully) post the changes back to the AUR as a comment.

    cd $startdir/src/$pkgname-$pkgver/
    ./configure --prefix=$startdir/pkg/usr/
    make || return 1
    make install || return 1
Notice the md5sums entry in the PKGBUILD above.  It needs to be updated in accordance with this article and then built on your machine using makepkg.  I strongly suggest you not user a helper for this, but rather use the methods described here

That is weird, since gcc-libs-multilib provides gcc-libs and should not lead to any removal.
    try pacman -S multilib-devel

  • Install password in 0.7 arch install(solved!)

Downloaded the arch 0.7 base .iso and managed to load xorg and kde.
While in x, I forgot to install the password.
Now, the arch log-in appears on reboot and I have no password.
I have tried the menu items to no avail.
Whazzup?  How to install passwd without X which doesn't show drom the log-in menu.

From you description I assume your talking about trying to login using a login manager. When you get to the login manager hit CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to the console, then at the login prompt type in your username and hit ENTER for the password (which should work if no password was set). then use passwd at the command line to set the password. Hit CTRL-ALT-F7 to get back the the login manager.
If that doesn't work you can boot up with the install cd, mount your root partion and edit [mount-point]/etc/shadow and delete the second field in the line for you user which will reset your password to nothing. For example I would change
    username:###############:12662:0:99999:7:::
    to
    username::12662:0:99999:7:::
you may also have to remove the "x" in the second field for you user in [mount-point]/etc/passwd also
    remove the cd and reboot.

  • Problem installing lotus notes portlets

hi! got the following message when trying to test out at http://myhost/servlets/lotusAppProv
    Error!
javax.servlet.ServletException: Failed to parse provider.xml: Error
    in expression: '*|/'.13
    Any ideas?
    thx

    Hi,
Please check if your middle tier(http server) is started when you are accessing the Provider's test page. Also check if you are able to see the provider test pages of other providers successfully, which are configured on the same mid tier, like the sample provider that comes jpdk. You may test this by visiting http://server:port/servlets/sample.
    regards,
    Geeta
    Portal version : 3.0.9.8.3
    RDBMS : 8.1.7.0
    Lotus portlet -->January 2002 v1.
PDK-->the one wich come with the patchset 3 of Portal.
I4ve installed the JPDK successfully and I could install the external application servlets and this is running.
I change the provider.xml to change the phisical path.
Another change I did recently is to change the header of the provider.xml.
change ISO-...... to UTF-..... and the result was that when I run trouugth the url
    http://server:port/servlets/lotusAppProv
    No page found apper.
And when I want to add the portlet provider the following stack of errors happend.

  • Lost-how do you install x-fi driver for arch 32bit

k,  i have tried installing the linux x-fi driver for my sound card... but im sorta having trouble installing the driver.
i sorta find the instructions arch wiki to install the driver confusing... how do you install it? im really lost, and im very new to linux.... but i do got computer smarts...

The wiki page (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HCL/Sound_Cards) doesn't cover installing drivers for creative soundcards as such. They should be installed automatically. However it doesn't mention the x-fi at all. I am not sure what the procedure is for your card. Are you sure it hasn't been autodetected? Also you should read this article if you haven't already.
