Installing MacTracker onto 5G iPod

How do I install the MacTracker app onto my 5G iPod? I dragged the icon from my applications folder into my "Notes" folder of my iPod. Now I can't see anything that resembles the info that MacTracker has in it's application. Did I do something wrong?
Please, I need some instructions.
Thanks: Lyle

What exctly did you drag to the Notes folder?
Did you drag the .zip file... or did you unzip it
first and then drag the 'Mactracker for iPod'
folder?
You need to unzip it first, then put the 'Mactracker
for iPod' in the Notes folder.
Once that's done, if you go to Extras > Notes on the
iPod, you'll see all the Mactracker data.
Well I opened the MacTracker application in my App folder on my Mac. Then I went to the "File" selected it and on the drop down chose, "Install MacTracker for iPod" That window came up with "items to install" I had my iPod hooked up to the computer, so my iPod came up as the destination for the app. I chose "Install" and the install started. Then a warning window came up, "Mactracker for iPod could not be installed on the selected disk.--The disk may be full or read-only"
So it wasn't a zip file at all, it came in as a DMG.

  • App not installing onto my iPod Touch.

I have recently purchased Worms from the Apple App Store. In the description it says it is compatable for the iPhone or iPod Touch but when i try to install it onto my iPod Touch it says it is not compatible with this iPod.
I have e-mailed Team17 Support and they told me that Worms works with all iPod touch devices. I am using iTunes 8 and I have the iPod Touch is version 2.1.1.
Can anyone tell me how i can install the game onto my iPod Touch?

Looks like it is 2.2.1 compatible, so it should work. A few things you can try, in order of difficulty:
1- Reset (not Restore) your Touch, or
2- "Buy" a free App to see if that gets Worms working, or
3- Log out of your iTunes account, then log back in and try to sync the game, or
4- Change your sync settings to NOT sync any Apps, sync to remove all Apps, then change your options back and re-sync again to load the Apps back, or
5- Restore your Touch to factory settings, which will erase its contents completely and you'll have to reload everything.

  • Installing podcasts and books onto my iPod classic

I downloaded books and a podcast onto my iTunes library, but cannot install them onto my iPod classic. I know that iTunes' babies are the iPod Touch, the iPad and the iPhone, but for some reason they still sell the classic and some people actually buy them.

With the iPod connected to your iTunes Library, look on the Device/Podcasts pane (tab) and select the Sync Podcasts button. Note also, the various syncing options for Podcasts. Then press Sync.
By the way, the Classic is still a leading and very useful iPod. It has far greater capacity than the iPod Touch. My 100GB music collection won't fit onto a Touch, so I have a 160GB Classic. I admit though, that I prefer the iPod Touch for Podcasts, and the Apps of course! So I own both, and I know I'm not the only one.
So that's why the Classic is still avaliable and why people actually buy it!

  • My iPod touch doesn't have the apple store app anywhere. How do I install it on my iPod touch?

I think it's a 3rd generation iPod touch. I am trying to download apps for my friend because she doesn't have any apps or games on her iPod. So I took her iPod home and tried to download apps but then I realized she doesn't have a apple App Store. So how do I install it onto her iPod.

It can't be deleted but it can be hidden by Restrictions. Settings>General>Restrictions.
Also, have you used the Spotlight search? Maybe yo just can't find it.

  • How do I retrieve my music and apps after installing iOS5 on my ipod touch?

After 'backing up' my ipod, I was prompted to install iOS5 onto my ipod. I then proceeded to install. I knew iit would take some time to install new OS, so I let it be. After about an hour or so I came back to check on my ipod, low and behold, it had none of my music and apps. I still don't understand what my feelings are right now. But I suspect that tomorrow I will be devastated if I cant get my music back. I dont have half of this stuff on my computers. Did I somehow back up 'all' my music somewhere? I don't know. I just spent a half hour waiting for Apple Support with no answer, waiting on my cell phone no less, to answer my inquiry about my missing music and apps but couldn't wait anymore. Does anyone know what the resolution is? Is all my music gone?
Anyways any help would be great.
Will be searching for info on the forums.

Ok so apps can be restored by going to update apps in ipod. individually, but restored nonetheless. My music on the other hand...

  • .IPA Files not working when I try to install them on my iPod Touch

    Hi all
So recently I tried installing a .IPA file from the internet. It installed on my computer fine, I clicked it, it opened in iTunes, and then I tried installing it onto my iPod 4. the blue progress bar on the PC and the iPod were going fine until it reached the end, and I was greeted with a error message saying the app failed to install.
I'm kind of a noob with this sort of stuff, so if someone could please help it would be much appreciated.

As you found out, you can only install apps purchased/obtained from the App Store. Alls are licked to the account the "purchased" them

My laptop died so I've installed itunes onto another PC and my music is all on an external hardive which is connected to the new PC. How can I sync my ipod with the new itunes and get all the music onto itunes?

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year.  It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.  Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

  • I just installed the latest version of iTunes to get the updates and new software on my iPod but it hasn't updated my iPod or put any of the new software on there either.  How to I get the software to sync onto my iPod?

I just installed the latest version of iTunes to get the updates and new software on my iPod but it hasn't updated my iPod or put any of the new software on there either.  How to I get the software to sync onto my iPod?

Are you sure it's not 6.1.6?  If it is, that is the latest iOS version that will work on a 4th generation iPod Touch.  Later versions require a 5G iPod which has twice as much RAM.

  • Unable to put new music onto my ipod nano

Please, please can someone help me. I am unable to load any new music onto my ipod. When I put the cd into my the computer drive a message comes up "newer version of quick time required. Quick time version 7.0.2. is installed, itunes requires quick time version 7.0.03 or later. Please reinstall itunes.
I have reinstalled itunes - it still comes up with the same message. I have downloaded quick time from the website (windows version with and without itunes) and it still won't let me do anything and comes up with the same error message. After 2 hours of this - I've rather had enough of Apple and what at the moment is a rather defunct piece of equipment!
I would really appreciate any help that can be given. As you might of noticed I'm not a technical person...
    Thanks.

Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • How do I install iTunes on my iPod?

I just bought a new 5th Gen iPod (80 gig, Black model). It doesn't come with an install cd. I hook it up to an iMac at school that already has itunes installed. The iPod appears on the desk top, but not in iTunes, and I get a dialog box that says the iPod "iPod" can not be used because it requires iTunes 7.0 or later .
When going through the iTunes install the select destination dialog box, if I select the iPod it says that I can't install iTunes on this volume. This software may only be installed onto the start up volume. I can't install it on the computer because of it needs an administrator's name and password but I can't get it since this is a university.
I've reset the iPod, and set itto disk mode. So how do I install iTunes on my iPod?

Jeff, he was refering to the school computer, in which he does not had admin rights. Then he said his OWN computer.
If you were able to install itunes, I don't understand how or why you can't get the correct itunes version. If you said you went to the apple website and downloaded it, it should be the current version, here it is again anyway:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
once installed, you can plug in the iPod and it should work now.

  • No longer able to import photos onto my iPod Video 80GB

    Hi all
I have had my iPod Video 80gb for about 2 months and at first enjoyed viewing my photos on it. The day that V7.3 was released & I upgraded I experienced several problems, some of which are already well documented on this forum. One problem that nobody else seems to have mentioned, is that I can now no longer import any of my photos onto my iPod. I receive the message...
“Some of your photos including filename.jpg were not copied to the iPod Caraline’s iPod because they cannot be displayed on your iPod.
As absolutely nothing had changed on either my iPod or my computer (other than iTunes version) I presumed this problem was tied up the new version. As I was having other problems with this version I decided to uninstall and re-install V7.2. However the problem persists. I even tried deleting everything from my iPod and every iTunes file, folder & cache and starting from scratch again with V7.2. I have also re-set my iPod back to the factory settings.
It does not seem to matter what the source of the original photos was, either from camera, or scanned, nor does it matter the size. I have spent hours experimenting, and absolutely nothing I do seems to solve this problem.
I am totally stumped as to why photos that I once could copy onto my iPod now are deemed undisplayable. I feel terribly disappointed as my iPod now seems crippled and does not perform a function that was a main consideration in buying one in the first place.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry everyone. I just realised that photos are discussed in a the iPod forum and this topic is being covered there. So please ignore this post.

  • I cant "drag and drop" music onto my ipod anymore can i get help please???

    Hi,
Since i have my ipod i have always dragged and dropped music from my itunes library onto my ipod but now every time i open itunes it tries to sync my whole library onto my ipod which i dont want, but now i cant drag nd drop onto it anymore , and there is a "lock" symbol beside the space that shows how much space is available on my ipod (such as the one that appears when on hold).
Any help would be great, thank you
    Dell dimension 5000   Windows XP

"every time i open itunes it tries to sync my whole library onto my ipod which i dont want"
You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
"but now i cant drag nd drop onto it anymore , and there is a "lock" symbol beside the space that shows how much space is available on my ipod"
Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. The text will change from grey to dark and the padlock will disappear: Managing content manually on iPod

  • Can't Install Apps Directly To iPod touch

For some reason my iPod touch can't install apps on its own, I have to go through this big process that involves:
    1. Transfering the downloaded app to iTunes on the computer
    2. Making all the apps wobble to delete the uninstalled app directly off the iPod touch
    3. Uncheck the box in the applications folder thing when the iPod touch is plugged in to the computer to completely uninstall the app
    4. Sync the iPod touch
    5. Then finally add the app back onto the iPod touch through the computer
Then after this long process the app works perfectly, but I recently saw some iPhone 3G commercial and it demonstrated how to download apps and went to the app store on the iPhone, downloaded an app and installed directly all by itself, so I don't know if i'm doing something wrong or my iPod touch is just broken?

    Hi,
Do you still have 2.0.1? I had the occasional hiccup with that when downloading to the Touch. I have recently tried again now I'm on 2.0.2 and they seem to have worked OK.
    Regards,
    Dud
