Hi
From this site:http://www.nokia.com/A4353385 I have downloaded this file: "MapLoaderSetup.1.0.w7.02". After having run this setup program everything appears to be allright; but I cannot run the MapLoaderprogram, because the file "maploader.exe" is not present on my PC!?
As I understand the MapLoader program can download maps from the internet to my PC and afterwords I can install them from PC via USB to my Nokia N95 or from PC direct to Micro SD card.
Hi finni
To download Maps with Maploader application either N95 needs to be connected as USB mass storage device to PC or microSD in card reader connected as Windows mass storage device. You can't store the maps on your PC and transfer at your convenience!

  • Nokia Maps 2.0 don't show maps on N95

Installed the latest firmware on the N95 (V21.0.016 14-02-08 RM-159 A5.01), formatted the memory card, installed Nokia Maps 2.0 (v2.0wk21b02), started it (in order for MapLoader to work properly), installed MapLoader 1.3.8, installed the swiss and german maps via MapLoader (the files are definitively in the 'cities' directory on the memory card), rebooted the phone then started the maps application again. The GPS works find but no map is displayed (even though I'm in Switzerland, everything is just green background, no matter what kind of view (satellite, hybrid, 3d, normal) I choose.
    What's wrong? Bad quality assurance?

I got it working!!! I sure hope this helps you all too!!!!
Firstly, make sure you go to the app. manager on your phone (usually found in the applications folder) and delete the nokia maps 2 from there.
    Also reformat your memory card.
Then do what needtogetfit posted but I've made it step by step for ppl like me LOL):
Connect your phone to your computer using the "data transfer" NOT PC Suite. A folder should show up, if not, go to 'my computer' and it will be there as "memory card" or whatever you have named your card.
Open it and you will see a few files in there. Make sure you delete the folder "cities" or "diskcashe" if it is still there and also delete a file called qf-file. (for some reason they seem to stay there even after a reformat etc and that's what seems to stop the maps from being seen properly)
I also made sure I had 'show hidden files' checked in the tools/folder options/view so I could see if they were hidden or not.
I then installed the nokia maps from my computer onto my phone via PC suite.
Open up your maps (it may take awhile cause it's starting a new directory structure on your memory card to replace the ones you deleted)... and allow it to connect to the internet briefly so you can get satellite coverage. (dont panic, you will still only see a green page, but if you zoom out you should at least now see your country etc)
Once you've done that, close and connect your phone to your computer using the "data transfer" and open up the map loader program and download your countries maps + voices you may want.
Once done, go back to your maps and you will find that all the streets will be showing once again!!
I hope this helps, it worked for me and I tried it on two different reformatted cards that weren't working before this.

  • 5800 GPS, clarify online usage?

I tried searching around existing topics, but was a little confused at the replies I found, so to clarify:
So I was testing out the GPS, had Bluetooth and A-GPS disabled, network and integrated enabled, and it still connected to GRPS and cost me. I didn't have it before, but I've turned the prompt to go online on now, and if on that prompt I select not to go online, will it still cost me? And if I don't use online, I would assume the GPS wouldn't function as well/quickly, but it will still work right?
I tested it just now, by selecting to not go online in just one location. It didn't send or retrieve any data from the network, but it still shows in my log that there was an outgoing connection to GPRS. Is this normal, even though I've told it not to go into online mode?
    Thanks for answering.

It will go online to load the maps, if you haven't used a PC and MapLoader to predownload the maps to the phone first.
Also, it will want to go online for searches, if an offline search doesn't produce results.
So, start by installing MapLoader - you also get it if you install the latest PC Suite from http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite - and then use it to download the maps for the countries you wish.

  • SW bug in E90 new SW: V 07.40.1.2

I updated recently my E90 to V7.40.1.2. It has got a problem, when I am working on any application (e.g. Maps) on the communicator and receives a call and tries to answer the call from the front cover, the front cover display remains dimmed!
Although the display shows the application I was working on and the ringing call, yet it remains dimmed till I answer and finish the call!

I already figured out it's impossible to delete the app, but how do I get Nokia Maps working then?
I doubt downloading the Western Europe map is the solution, since I should already have it on the purchased sd card, or am I wrong?
The only thing I can do is pop in the sd card and go to Options, Extra Services, Add Services, Add Navigation, etc... and finally enter a licence code.
Is it really that simple? Is there a way I can check if it's really activated and/or check how long the license stays active?
    *confused*
Unfortunately, it seems NOKIA is rather telling lies to the consumers on the E90 issue.
I was unfortunate enough to buy it two weeks ago and the NOKIA shop in Greece promised to install maps to it. They did not, telling me that they cannot help me.
After a lot of effort (find a machine with .NET, persuade it to recognise the phone as a mass storage device through USB, install Maploader from the web, etc.) I got a message on Maploader telling me that the version of maps my phone wants is not compatible with the version of maps the Maploader software could download, therefore no maps could be downloaded.
I have referred the problem to NOKIA Greece, but got no answer though telephone and neither through e-mail.
It seems to me that NOKIA tries to con customers by advertising non-existing facilities on the E90. The next step for me is to refer the case to the authorities here in Greece requiring compensation for faulse advertising.

  • Map Loader Error

    Hello,
i'm trying to use Nokia MapLoader but everytime I start the application i get a the following error:
"An unexpected error occurred. Try again. Sorry for the inconvenience."
my phone model is Nokia N95
    please advise...

    its definitely a proxy thing
I managed to connect with no problems at home - but found that the US map is over a gig! - as I'm on a 2mb connection at home, I thought I'd best use the 100g connection at work.....
but when I try laucnh the maploader at work - I get the unexpected error.
so last night I went home - fired up maploader.....but got the same error!
but after uninstalling and re-installing maploader I finally got it to work..
bit pants really as I had to leave my laptop on all night to download the US map.
nil marks out of 10 to Nokia for being environmentally friendly! - its a data file - why not just bung it on an html page for everyone to download?

  • How to install OVI Map navigation for N95

Ok, getting very frustrated with this now.  I have given my dad my N95 to help him get around but just cant get the map navigation to work.  I downloaded the Nokia Map Loader (I had to go to a third party website as the Nokia links were all broken) and have the map/voices but when my dad tries to use the navigation it tells him he has to pay.
Obviously, I know that Nokia have now made these services free to complete with other company's devices, I'm just being stupid and not going to the right place to download them.  When i go to www.nokia.com/maps on the phone it doesnt do anything.  I've been trying for over a day now and the phone has almost made contact with the wall a few times - sorry to be a numpty, but how do you install the OVI map navigation stuff on the N95! :-)
    Danny
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    @Cowes67
Let's clear up any misunderstanding here, upon N95 there is no legititimate way of obtaining free voice navigation with version of Ovi Maps upon N95 as you would need to purchase a license!
You should run Ovi Maps application with a microSD inserted in N95 which will re-create necessary folder structure for Nokia Suite > Maps to recognise it.
Please note that standalone version of Nokia Maploader apart from version for Mac users ceased to be functional several years ago.
I still have N95 in use so post again if any further queries over this issue.

  • Nokia Maploader problem with N95

No i do not have a connectivity error with Maploader.
I cannot start the program at all. After installing. I click on the program then I see a splashscreen. And under the splashscreen I see a message saying That maploader is a program to transfer maps on your Nokia. Fine till then.
When I click OK I get a message Maploader doesn't work anymore: It has never worked!! And the program disappears
I tried both versions Smart2go and Nokia (both are the same)
I have Vista, I also did a reboot after install---> No Go
I tried WinXp SP2 compatibility---> nope not working.
I already opened Maps several times on the N95
don't really know what to do now.

Map Loader often fails for unknown reasons.
If you can put your memory card into a card reader, you can use AvMapsLoader by Andreas Vogel.
    - program: http://sites.google.com/site/avesomega/AvMapsLoader
    - review: http://symbianism.blogspot.com/2009/02/nokia-map-loader-alternative.html
If that doesn't work for you, just download the maps with your web browser and extract them to the map folder on your phone:
    - Nokia Map Loader Alternative: http://nokiamaps.site666.info
If your phone can go online by WiFi or if you have unmetered mobile internet you don't even need a computer to preload maps on your phone.
Of course you can also keep troubleshooting Nokia's own map loader until it works, but that can take such a long time that the alternatives are often faster and easier.
With WiFi and fast mobile internet all over the place Nokia should code a lightweight map loader for Symbian. There's no reason for not doing so, because downloading and unzipping map files really doesn't need hundreds of megabytes worth of Map Loader, PC suite, and .net framework. It doesn't need to take much more than a web browser (already present in Symbian), a zip program (already present in new versions of Nokia's firmware), and some code to make 'em work together.

  • Problem with maploader

i have an e50 nokia phone, i have downloaded and installed the maps app(smart2go) also have installed the maploader. i want to download some map just for information not for navigation, but the maploader does not find my phone, i have used the maps from my phone( i mean i have opened the application) help!!!!

OMG this fone (N95) is doing my head in. Im having PROBLEM with installing the smart2go into the fone. Ive downloaded & saved into a PC file however everytime i tried to intall it into the fone, a message popped up "Update error!". Could anyone please tell me what it means and how do i go about installing it.
Ive just had the fone for 3 days and im loosing my patience. The dealer told me i had to download the map before i can use the GPS by going to www.nokia.com/maps ... iIve gone into it and there are 2 free softwares for N95 NokiaMaps and MapLoader. The website recommended downloading NokiaMap first (which is the smart2go) before downloading MapLoader. ( We recommend installing Nokia Maps on your mobile device prior to installing Nokia MapLoader on your PC.)Ive tried MANY times for both PC Suites and Mass Storafe modes and it didnt work. So i decided to install NokiaMapLoader into the fone before NokiaMaps and it took ages. The downloading time was like 14 hours. and so i cancelled after half an hr waiting for 0.3% download.
Could you guys please be kind enough to show me how to use this thing n get the GPS works because its driving me up the wall. wts all the fuss about?? this is a duff.
    Thanks very much

  • Nokia Suite 3.6 clears pre installed map data from...

I had a problem with Nokia Suite clearing pre-installed maps from my new Pureview 808 and E5-00. The first time I let Nokia Suite 3.6 check for outdated maps, it reported that over 700MB worth of maps needed updating.
I didn't think much of the time taken but after maybe 5 minutes connection was lost and so were the preinstalled maps. Nokia Care didn't help as they said it was a PC or internet problem.
I also noticed in Nokia Suite 3.6 that the country Thaliand is missing from my installation of the suite for Pureview 808. However the country is there inside my phone's map loader. Thailand is present inside Nokia Suite when I connect my E5 to Nokia Suite 3.6.
Can anyone tell me what the pre installed maps in the phones are?

    @wkl12mr
It depends upon the product code of the device as to which maps are pre-installed upon Mass memory of 808 as this determines localisation.
Presumably your 808 is running Nokia Maps v3.09_12wk09_b05 and if you use "Maploader" from within Nokia Maps application is not Thailand listed as per screenshot?

  • 1. Installed maps on Nokia N900 not showing - 2. k...

Although I have installed local maps dae through nokia maploader to Nokia N900, when I start the Map app on the phone the data is missind. Instead it downloades it from internet.
I must clarify that if I reset the phone by reupdating the software the map data is working but as soon I reinstall the various apps I have , the local map date is not showing.
Any idea which app might get in the way?
Second question, regardless of my settings, the map app connect to internet. Every few minutes it asks me to connnect although I have disabled the automatic connections.

By the way where are the links to every map data version?
As predominantly a Mac user I have published links to a variety of map series upon the forum, but now there is very little demand except perhaps from users in India with 5230 without WiFi and high data downloading costs. As Mac support fairly sparse moderators have kindly allowed discussion of manual installation of map data, which should not be an issue for Windows users with Nokia Suite.
Unfortunately the latest map data only appears to be available for Windows Phone 8 devices and that for Symbian ones will probably fall further behind in future.

  • E61: Cannot install nokia maps application

I used to have Nokia Maps application installed in my E61 SD card, together with the maps. Then I had to re-format the card, loosing all information.
Once I try again to install Nokia Maps application in my handset, there is an "update error", and the application is not install. My guess: there is somewhere a registry that lists nokia maps application as already installed, and will not allow to re-install again.
    I will appreciate your help.
    Thanks!

Nokia have recently released a new version of Nokia Maps as well as MapLoader.
I would recommend that you download these (you can find them at http://www.nokia.com/maps) and try again.
First download the MapLoader program and try to delete any kind of previously stored map information on your phone, then download the appropriate Map program for your phone, and finally re-load MapLoader to load the relevant maps for your country on the E61.

Sorry a little puzzled here. Nokia Maps is pre-installed with phone software, do you mean that you are trying to install latest version of Nokia Maps 2.0 Beta?
If you are trying to install regional maps downloaded with Maploader application then a microSD is advisable as you haven't got enough room in phone memory with a N95 rather than N95 8GB.

  • Disable creation of Maploader folders

    Hi,
Recently, very sadly, my  5410i died. So I got a new phone. This one has a USB port, so I decided to check out the OVI software. It's pretty useful for backing up my contacts (about 200).
However, since installing the software I noticed I have folders Maploader on each harddrive (and I have quite a few). I don't like those folders everywhere. With a little Googling I found out OVI is most likely doing this and considering my history of installing software, it makes a lot of sense to me.
So: how do I disable the creation of these folders? I already removed OVI from the list of programs to start up with Windows, but isn't there an option in OVI to disable this annoying habit?
    Thanks a lot!
    J

the new version was released a few days ago, so i guess you might have an older version.
even on my external hard drives those folders don't exist.
the new version looks like the image.
