  • I can't download garageband, iMovie and iPhoto because it says that the apps were already assigned to another apple id

I reinstalled the mac os and when I open the app utility, it shows that I have these three apps ready for download.  I sign in with my apple id, but the dowload is blocked because it says that they have been assigned to another apple id.  This probable refers to the previous owner.  Apple support (phone) stated that after the reinstall, the apps should be available to me.  Any ideas anyone?

It certainally is a mess.  The other previous owners Apple ID is associate with the Mac, and best buy just reboxed it without checking anything apparently.  I would call them and complain and see what they say.  Also, call AppleCare and tell them you recieved incorrect information last time you called.  They have a record of the last time you called and why.  They need to help you.  This is not your fault.

i cannot found iLife app on my macbook pro and when i want to buying it i cannot and i have this massage (These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID.These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's purchases list. If you don't have access to that AppleID and want to receive future updates, you will needto purchase the applications ) what i want to do now ? please tell me

Either use the Apple ID you used when you originally purchased the applications or you will have to purchase them using your Apple ID. If you did not have the other Apple ID, then you have the applications illegally or they were improperly included with a computer you purchased from someone else.

  • Hey there i downloaded apps using another apple id than the one am using right now and i need to update the apps they keep asking me for the old one that i dont have any more what to do please

Hey there i downloaded apps using another apple id than the one am using right now and i need to update the apps they keep asking me for the old one that i dont have any more what to do please

Apps are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them.
Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and re-set th password for the old one.
Then, log into the app store with it and update the apps purchased with that ID.

  • Unable to open iPhoto after installing Mavericks and latested iPhoto Version.

I have just installed Mavericks onto my Macbook Pro. The next thing I did was purchase, download and install the most recent version of iPhoto. The previous version of iPhoto was '09 Vers. 8.1.2.
I have about 300gb’s of images in my iPhoto library, which are on an external HD. When I try to launch iPhoto, I get a message saying the iPhoto library must be upgraded. So, I click on ‘upgrade’,and either a white screen with a large icon of a folder appears, but nothing else happens. One other time, before I clicked on upgrade, a gray screen with a scrolling gear appeared, but once again… nothing happens. I still can not access any of the images in my iPhoto library.
How do I get the new iPhoto version to play nice with my images?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Installed Maverick and now iPhoto wont open, help

I've just installed Maverick from using Snow Leopard and now iPhoto won't open and the message"You can’t open the application “iPhoto” because it is not supported on this type of Mac." appears. Since I have hundreds of photos in iPhoto and iPhoto was supported on this mac previously how can I access them?

Since my last post I found some instructions courtesy of Old Toad.   They might work for you.
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library if the photos are missing.
Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

  • Should I uninstall my previously installed version of Lightroom 4 before downloading LR5?

I recently changed my single app membership of photoshop cc to the new Adobe offer of  lightroom 5 & photoshop cc and 20 g space on the cloud for 9.99.
Should I uninstall my previously installed version of lightroom 4.3 before downloading lightroom 5?

    No.

  • How can I update an app (iphoto) that was registered with another apple id?

I bought an used Macbook Air, with Macosx 10.7.3 on it. It included apps like Iphoto and garage band. When I want to update them, I can't because the App Store is requiring the old apple ID.
Is there a way to change the apple ID for updates of apps that came with the OS?
I've tried to trash Iphoto and download it again from the app store but instead of "install" the button says "Accept" (to accept updates). However, when I click on it it asks for the old Apple ID.
Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have.
    Dan

    Hello,
You can't merge or change Apple ID. Applications are tied with the Apple ID used to make the purchases.
In your case the only way to download them again is to use the old Apple ID.

  • When I am trying to update or download an app, another Apple ID appears in the Apple ID box, and I can't change it.  The cursor is in the password box and I'm unable to move it back into the Apple ID box in order to change it.

When I try to update or download an app, very often another Apple ID shows up in the Apple ID box and the cursor is in the Password box and I can't move it back to the Apple ID box in order to put my ID in!  Apple ID looks like an email address of a colleague in my school system, however, I don't know the person and that person has never logged into my computer.

A stranger's Apple ID appears on your Mac in conjunction with an update notice -

  • App download notification on another Apple ID?

    Hey guys!
I'm just wondering, Iread over the new App Store terms and conditions, and I think I may have misread something.
When you download an app (free or paid) on another Apple ID, does it send a notification to the email associated with the account?
I'm really confused on this. I don't know of it'll send a notification if the iDevice is recognized or not, or if it'll send a notification at all.
Just so you guys don't take this the wrong way, my friend and I exchange our Apple IDs, and go through the "Purchased" section and download any apps that interest us. We don't keep our credit cards and stuff on there, so please don't take this the wrong way and think I'm trying to buy something with his money, or vice versa. The notification thing is simply confusing me.
So if I download an app on his account from the "Purchased" section, will it send him a notification? I haven't received any emails yet. Thanks!

AFAIK - you will not get a notification because the app has been previously purchased and you are simply downloading it again.
I have never received a notification when I redownload an app and I have done it quite a few times. When you both download the app on your own iPads - you are in effect using the "download to as many iDevices as you want to" that is allowed by Apple if you are using the same Apple ID/iTunes account.
However - as you both know - you are doing this not in the way it is intended to work. The free downloads are supposed to be available to the owner of the ID/account that was used to purchase the app and to that ID/account only.
There is something in the iTunes T&C that says something about switching to another ID on an iPad and not being able to switch ID's again for 3 months - something to that effect - but frankly I can't remember if that is for apps or for media.
I found it and it refers to automatic downloads. You can read this yourself.

  • I bought a used macbook air (newest model) with lion and when I try and install iPhoto it says "These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID. These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases "

I am a new mac user so there is a lot that I don't yet know or understand.  The previous owner did a clean re-install of lion and my air is covered under warranty till August.  We called apple when I bought it to make sure it wasn't stolen and registered it to me. I am just trying to be able to transfer my pictures from my iphone to my air.  I also want to set up icloud which looks like it requires iphoto. Also, what are the other iLife apps?  I have a feeling I will encounter the same issues with those. Thanks for your help.

If new versions of iPhoto and the other iLife applications (iMovie and GarageBand) were purchased by the previous owner from the Mac App Store, then they will be locked to the previous owner's Apple ID and cannot be transferred to you. You will have to re-purchase them under your own Apple ID.
If this is an older MBA that came with Snow Leopard or an earlier version of Mac OS X, though, the system would have come with an installation disk that included the iLife applications, a disk which the seller should have provided to you. Those iLife applications would be older versions, of course, and may or may not work in Lion depending on how old they are.
    Regards.

  • Create new folder in iphoto before download so as not to crowd the library

ok - getting frustrated - just installed iphoto 6 - hoping that it would be easier = more direct when I download from memory card... no luck.
Problem: I created now Folder on left hand side... under library/last roll/last 12 month... wanted to drag the new photos from the memory card but no no.no... the photo was downloaded to "library" rather than the folder I wanted to - the desired folder staayed empty...oh ... please give me some good suggestions.. how to do this.. fast and quick - the reason why I bought this program - iLife'06 - in the first place...

    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Library contain ALL photos. This is the way it is from within iPhoto as files are actually structured into 'Roll' folders on disk. See <~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Data/...> I too struggled on the very same issue as you... this is actually frustrating to say the least (bad first steps in..) but I have found a clever way around: Say hello to Smart Albums!
Next time you import a roll into iPhoto make use of the "Roll Name" field. Second, select New Smart Album from File menu, give it a meaningful and unique name then Match the following conditions: Roll, Contain, "Roll Name" you gave just before import from camera. This will generate an album featuring only this one roll.
    In short:
First, give the Roll a name before you hit "import" button.
    (see link 1 bellow)
Second, create a new Smart Album: Roll, Contain, <"
    (see link 2 bellow)
Remember Library will always contain ALL your Photos. This is the master album.
