Installing McAfee without even asking???? Really????

This isn't really a problem with installing Flash Player, but with your company.  It's one thing to include pointless software and at least give me the option to decline.  It's quite another to have it installed without even being able to decline, which is just what happened with the latest flash player update.  Should be ashamed of yourselfs.  I've already found an alternate Reader, now to look for an alternate to your Flash, which thankfully is dying anyway.

when you are downloading Flash there are two checks  marked one for MacAfee another for Google uncheck both then MacAfee will not be installed if you did it just go into your files and erase it since if lets say you have Norton it will conflict with MacAfee so do it that way and all will be resolved now can you answer mine please if you can. I downloaded Adobe flash and all installed but when I go to someplace that only works with Adobe Flash and I have that the latest Version but it keeps telling me you need to down loaded million times  do you know why? thanks in advance.

Prompted by Firefox, I've installed the latest Adobe Flash Player.
But I was infuriated by how Adobe automatically installed Chrome on my PC without even asking.
This is atrocious practice on the part of Adobe but I couldn't see anyway to complain to them directly so I thought that perhaps Mozilla could pass on the intense irritation of this and probably many other Firefox users to Adobe.

Thank you for pointing that out.
I've always found that installation options are usually presented during the actual installation of the software, rather than when it is downloaded. I'm going to have to be much more careful in future!
(I still think it verges on sharp practice on the part of Adobe but I suppose they receive a fee from Google for this.)
Once again - many thanks for your responses.

  • IPhoto deleting previously uploaded pics without even asking me

Well, this has happened to me lot of times and i have to say that I'm really angry about this.
When doing random things on iPhoto (maybe things related to web albums [flickr, Facebook]), suddenly a box appears saying that “the album 'x' was deleted from Facebook” just like that: without asking me, without warning me before, without any advice. I can nothing but click “ok”, and after the box disappears, another one follows it, telling me that ANOTHER ALBUM has been deleted… and another, and another, and another… This has happened a lot of times resulting in hundreds of flickr photos being deleted without asking me, photos that were not uploaded by iPhoto and that I lost forever. I think this is a huge problem.
Just a moment ago I was trying to upload a bunch of pictures to Facebook, and when clicking the upload button iPhoto started deleting lots of albums again… I just had to force quit the app even if I can't know if the pics stopped being deleted by doing that…
Please, do something about this. I can't stand having my valuable photos being deleted just like that.
I managed to revoke 'deleting' permissions to iPhoto in Flickr, and I'm searching how to do this in Facebook…

I have 4 Macs and I had the same iPhoto library on each of them. When I chose to turn on the iCloud Photo Library on each of them, each Mac, each one of them uploaded the library to iCloud Photo Library.. Now it appears that I have many duplicates in the new Library. Is it adding each of the 4 libraries to the mix? It's a real problem as I have 25,000 pictures - 70GB in my library. So paused the upload on 2 of the Macs about half way through in case it is creating duplicates, until I get some answers. Any help would sure be appreciated.

  • 12 inch shuts down without even warning me

ok I have year and half old 12 inch 1.33Ghz G4 powerbook. Lately i cannot work on battery charge for longer than 30 min, if lucky and then it shuts down without even asking me to recharge. I did few power management unit resets that didnt work. My local applr genious bar is full of grandmas asking where is @ on the keyboard, so i am scheduled for next century. What should i do. Here is the screen of my coconut battery status.

    Gil,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
"When I charge the ring is always green, never amber."
This is NOT normal. The power adapter and battery are not "connecting" properly as to why your computer shuts down within minutes of unplugging. It could be the adapter. On occasion (more often with my 15" Ti), I have to wiggle the cord (near the ring) to get the light to change from green to amber.
Try another power adapter. If you do not have another adapter, borrow one from a friend that does or go the Apple store. Or try another battery to test the adapter. Also, if you have not already done so--try taking the battery out and putting it back in and then plug in the adapter.
"The battery issue seems to be new..."
Not really. It is a problem with lithium-ion batteries in general. PC portable users have this issue too. In my experience, these batteries tend to last about two years (dependent upon each users definition of sufficient charge to meet his or her needs). Apple claims 80% of original battery capacity after 300 full charge and discharge cycles. Some people say the battery life is 500 cycles. You can check the number of battery cycles in System Profiler.
    Hope this helps.

  • Auto-installing McAfee with Flash?  Shame on you, Adobe.

As a longtime Adobe product user (Photoshop 3 through today, After Effects, Premiere and now CC subscriber) I was extremely disappointed and appalled when Adobe Flash Update installed McAfee without asking me.  I was so surprised, I went back to reinstall on another machine to see if I had missed a pre-checked box.  Guess what - no option to skip the McAfee on this update.
I have seen (and unchecked) the McAfee box in the past.  This time, it didn't ask.
This is not how reputable software companies do business Adobe.  I expect better form you!
There should never be software that is installed by default, just as "options" that many people avoid for secuirty reasons (like the check box for keep me signed in) should NEVER be checked by default.
If you want to stop developing Flash, or charge for it, fine.  But do not place programs on  my computer that I did not ask for.
Shame on you, Adobe.  Shame on you.

As already pointed out there is nothing we can do here to help you but
if you were after alternatives or what economists call substitute
products then clearly Microsoft is the best.  They have almost
everything Adobe has and their products are relatively less expensive
    than Adobe's.
Whether you like these alternatives is a different story altogether but
alternatives they are and there are others out there if you look for
them.  Search for Open Source products (free products) and you will be
    surprised what you get.
    Good luck.

  • Why does the latest flash update automatically install Mcafee?

Just wondering why I can't opt out of installing unwanted software when updating flash player?
    For reference:
    - I turned on my computer and was faced with a regular looking flash player box that stated an update was available.
    - I clicked the "update" button and was taken to the following page: https://get3.adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=Flash_Player_13_for_Other_Browsers& os=Windows%207&browser_type=Gecko&browser_dist=Firefox&a=McAfee_Security_Scan_Plus_FireFox _Browser&dualoffer=false&type=au&browser_vers=28 (yes it mentions Mcafee in the address, but only the address. No warning whatsoever on the actual webpage. I wasn't aware that it would automatically install Mcafee without asking).
    - I saved the update, then ran it (there were no checkboxes at all to opt out of Mcafee, it just installed it).
Not particularly happy at having unwanted software installed with no real warning, and no opt out available.

That one goes back three updates ago, and http://forums.adobe.com/message/4315988  goes back two years...
This has been an ongoing thing. There is an updater that blindly installs McAfee and another that installs Google Chrome and Toolbar. People have been complaining about it for years, and it doesn't change, and it won't change.
I'm not being condescending, and I'm not trying to lecture you on this. I'm just stating the facts. If there had been any intent on anyone's part to do something about it, posts like this wouldn't pop up here every month and a half, like clockwork.
It's the number one reason we post the FULL installer links. Because they have NOTHING IN THEM but the Flash Player plug-in.

If you downloaded Flash Player from the standard location http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ then you WILL have the option to decline the bundled install:
If you download the installer from Mike's link above (which is posted several dozen times in this forum every day), then you will not get any bundled software.

  • Can't re-install CS3, won't even ask for my serial number

My computer repeatedly showed a message stating it needed to be reinstalled, so finally i tried to do so, only to not be able to install it at all.
it only installed "shared components" not my software! I doesn't even ask for my serial number. I took my software and computer to best buy, they couldn't install it,told me it was my hard drive. so i managed to free more than 100gb and it still won't install. Please SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS!
I'M A FREELANCE ILLUSTRATOR NOW WITH NO SOFTWARE TO WORK WITH AND NOT ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY ALL NEW SOFTWARE!!!
    I NEED HELP FAST!!!

I've encountered almost the exact same issue. Sadly, this is the state of Adobe technical support these days. I spent countless hours chattting with support staff who are mostly ineffective, and then they condemned me to the forums. I've been using Adobe products since the mid to late 80s (pretty much since they've been in business) and it's a disappointment to see that we're left to own devices to troubleshoot these problems. If you have any insight on how to remedy the installation problem since you originally posted, please let me know.

Backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Why has photoshop cs6 extended been installed on my machine without me asking for it?

Why has photoshop cs6 extended been installed on my machine without me asking for it? Now, every time I start photoshop, I get this splash screen that ask me to join CC, or "to license this software," or "to continue trial." How do I get rid of all this and get back to my "normal" photoshop CS6?
    Thanks in advance.

Sometimes there are server problems, downtimes, or security changes. Most problems with email are resolved by deleting the account from the iPad and then re-adding it.

  • In Preferences I've chosen to have Firefox ask me before installing updates--but instead Firefox has installed updates without asking.

Just now I returned to my laptop to discover that Firefox had installed an update. The only option I was given was to restart now or later. I checked my preferences, and I definitely have them set to have FF ask me before installing.

The window that "asks" what you want to do only waits so long for an answer before it times out ''(as I recall when that happened to me, it waits 30 seconds)'' and then downloads the update.
