Installing MIDP in Palm Tungsten E?

Hi, where can I find information about installing the JVM for executing the MIDLets in a Tungsten E?
Thanks a lot.

download the midp for palm zip file from the sun site.
then go to this page ( http://www.pendragon-software.com/emulator.html#What%20is%20POSE )
and follow the instructions to perform a hotsync.
the hotsync on the emulator and the device are the same procedure.

  • Unable to Install Universal Wireless Keyboard with the CD that came with the Palm Tungsten E2 on my Windows Vista OS. Can some help? Would Appreciate it very much.

I recently bought a Palm Tungsten E2. I have been unable to install the Universal Wireless Keyboard software that came with the E2. Went online and downloaded the version 1.13 UWK and that would not install either. What did I do wrong?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

For Vista that version will not let you install programs. Good news though is we have a version you can. Go here, http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk62.html and install this on top of the version you already have. There is going to be a few changes on the desktop, there is no quick install, but the install tool.
Once you have that done just double click on keyboard and it will ask you your hotsync name and sync and your done.
Oh as a side note the check if this is your solution is only if the answer solves your original question.

  • Syncing Palm Tungsten E2 With MacBook Air

Hello, I have owned a Palm Tungsten E2 since 2005.  I was able to install the Desktop software on windows XP and sync the device with my Windows XP laptop since 2005.  I recently purchased a MAcBook Air and installed the Desktop Software from the CD I purchased in 2005 (it has a Mac version).  It appeared to install OK but when I pressed the sync button on the device nothing happened.  I would appreciate any help on this issue.    Many thanks,

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
Unfortunately, I don't think you have any current options to sync with your new Mac.  Palm Desktop 4.2 ceased Mac compatibility with 10.6 Snow Leopard.  The only alternative used to be a third party app called Missing Sync.  However, it was incompatible with Mac X 10.9 going forward.  Also, it has been discontined as of 12/31/14.

  • Palm Tungsten batteries

    Two Questions
1/ I just got a palm tungsten on eBay. The battery charges OK but tends to loss power very quickly. Palm was on for about half an hour while I was checking things out and about 1/3 power was already gone. It had been on charge for over 7 hours and looked fully charged. Should I buy a new battery and can I install it myself. I saw something in the manual stating that there are no serviceable parts and one should not remove the back.
2/ I have noticed that every time I do a hot sync I am prompted to reset the palm (I think that was the term used) I then get a screen where the calendar has been reset to the first of the year 2003, the time is 12 and I have to reset them. Is there anyway to avoid this?

    1) The battery is not very easily removed, e.g. glued or taped to the main board or panel. You can replace it yourself, though some are more easily removed than others, and you probably will need a special screwdriver.
    2) After every reset, a couple handhelds I have owned reset their date and time, though it is very annoying, it will go away eventually.

  • What is best solution for using a Palm Tungsten 2 on a Windows 7 computer?

Driven by the end of XP, I purchased an HP Z230 Workstation running Windows 7 Professional.   I'd like to get my Palm Tungsten 2 working, and I've heard several options here on doing that.
    OPTIONS
    A.  Use Palm Desktop 6.2 with Bluetooth for hotsync.  (I've done this already with a Win7 laptop, but I use the Note Pad utility a lot with some macros, which unfortunately is not supported on  Desktop v6.2).
    B.  Use Palm Desktop 4.1.4 in a virtual Windows XP environment running under Win 7.  I know I can do that, and that is probably my fallback.  However, Microsoft suggests that you disconnect from the Internet any time you use the Virtual XP, because it may be susceptible to hacking since they don't support XP anymore.   So that will be an added nuisance that I will probably forget to do.
    C.  Use the Aceeca USB driver to make Desktop 4.1.4 work.  I tried following the instructions here to do that, but when Hotsync fails, it never shows up as a yellow triangle in the device manager list, even after I followed the trick to make hidden devices visible.  So I have not been able to even try the Aceeca driver with Palm 4.1.4 yet.
    D.  Install the Aceeca Desktop 4.1 and update to their driver.  I could try this (uninstall Palm 4.1.4 and install Aceeca 4.1) but it looks like it depends on the same process to update the driver as my option C just above.  So I'm thinking I may run into the same roadblock as C.
    Questions:
Does anyone have any other ideas of how to get the Aceeca driver hooked up to Palm Desktop 4.1.4 that I could try?
Does anyone know if Aceeca Desktop supports the Note Pad facility if I try option D?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Palm Blue,
    Thanks for weighing in!
Here is what I know so far.   I use the Palm Desktop 4.1 on my Win XP computer, and have no problems syncing my Tungsten T2 with USB Hotsyncs.
I've also successfully hotsynced the T2 to a Win7 Pro laptop computer using Palm Desktop 6.2. and Bluetooth.
My goal, which sounds like you have already accomplished, is to install Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on my new Win7 Pro desktop, so that I can sync with the T2 and get the Note Pad functionality also.   This is like my "OPTION C."
Did you have to use the Aceeca driver to make this work on your computer, or were you able to do it with the Palm driver?  One other person reported elsewhere having gotten 4.1.4 working on a 64 bit Win7 installation, and he made no mention of the Aceeca driver.  I have not been able to contact him.
In response to your question about what I see when I try to sync:
Palm 4.1.4 is installed on the Win7 Pro desktop, and the hotsync icon is present.
When I try to sync, I hear the characteristic tone indicating that a USB device is recognized.  But I also get a message that pops up near it with the yellow triangle and the following text:
    "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED"
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has
malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.
For assistance in solving this problem, click this
    message."
If I click the message, I get popup window that says,
One of the devices attached to this comptuer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."
It then shows a list of the USB devices inside of one of the USB Root Hubs, and one of them has a different icon and a question mark in that icon (not a yellow triangle).  And its description is in bold and it says "Unknown USB Device."
I also looked at the Device Manager during a hotsync to see if it shows a Palm device or an Other category.   Using my XP computer first with the Tungsten T2, and which also syncs okay, it is true that during the Hotsync, the Device Manager adds a device "Palm OS Handheld Device / Palm Handheld," that goes away as soon as the hotsync is complete.
Using the same Palm Tungsten 2, when I attempt the Hotsync in the Win7Pro computer,  "Palm OS Handheld Device/Palm Handheld"  does NOT appear in the Device Manager (nor anything else like it).
So for some reason, my computer does not have seem to have enough of the Palm Desktop/Hotsync installation complete that I can get to the point of either it working, or where I could try to install the Aceeca driver.
I keep trying things to get it to work, but so far now luck.  Looking for more ideas to try.

  • Can't find palm tungsten isync hotsync conduit in leopard

Attempting to sync my Palm Tungsten E2 with iCal & Address Book by USB but iSync can't set up when I attempt to Enable Palm Syncing. iSync Hotsync Conduit does not install and is not found on searching with Spotlight. Palm Hotsync works fine. Where is my software not configured properly?

Problem solved. I was logged into a User Account that did not have permissions to move the conduits to a new folder 'iSync Disabled Conduits'. Logging into the System Manager Account enabled this process to proceed and reverting back to the sub-account the configuring for Enable Palm Syncing process now completed.

  • MIDP in Palm

    Hi,
I'm development a software that will run in a Palm m-100. In this softwares the users must entering information during all the day and, in the end of the day, connect the Palm in the PC (using direct serial connect) and store the day's data in the PC.
But, I'm having a problem... The software is being development in MIDP, and now I have discovery that MIDP don't have serial communication (MIDP only has the HTTP implemented), then I have instaled the two JVM (KVM and MIDP) in Palm and two softwares are in development: one is the graphic user interface (development in MIDP) and other is the PC Coonector (using CLDC and KJava) to store the Palm data into PC using direct serial connect.
Is there any way to use direct serial connect in MIDP ? I don't want to use KJava for User Interface because it's very poor. If there's no way, then is there any way to call a KJava program from a MIDP program ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sergio Stateri Jr
    [email protected]

If you use MIDP, you have to use an HTTP connection to transfer data
    from MIDP to your PC.
But you have the option of developing the PC Connector independent of MIDP
    by:
    a) Develop a Java conduit.
    b) Use the Hotsync utility to backup data from RMS into your PC
and then write a program to read the backed up data and update the database.
You can see more details on www.palmos.com. Again, I am not completely
    sure about above two options.

  • MIDP for Palm OS

I'm getting a bit confused between the cldc + palm overlay (com.sun.kjava) and the new hype regarding MIDP for Palm OS. Is com.sun.kjava going away, or is it another tool for another purpose?

    Any ideas on implementing pdb-like functionality?Hi c2cate:
Sun has modified the com.sun.kjava classes. The most recent j2me_cldc installation includes updates to the com.kjava.api package. I'm using this package and will continue to do so. It's in my development environment and will stay there until I remove. Therefore, does it really matter if and when Sun choses to stop supporting/modifing the com.sun.kjava at some later date?
I've written a server-side API that extracts data from mainframe-databases and server-databases and creates PDB formatted files which are then installed onto the Palm. I've used the com.sun.kjava widgets to develop a Customer Relationship Management application that contains over 20 screens and accesses (7) different PDBs. I've also enhanced the Palm Spotlet to now allow the users to access data from the PDB or to request and receive data via a wireless connection with strong-encryption which also updates the respective PDB record.
P.S. Mr. Bill Joy , I'm more concerned with the following:
    - I can create PDBs externally and install them onto a Palm, initializing the Palm with data.
    - PDB data is accessable by other Spotlets and applications.
    - I can HotSync the modified PDBs back to the server-side and mainframe-side databases.
    - Can I create RMSs externally and install them onto a Palm or Cell phone?
    - Why is RMS data accessable only by those Midlets contained in the suite.
    - Can I HotSync the modified RMSs back to the server-side and mainframe-side databases.
    - Can the RMS classes read PDBs?

No, there is nothing published - that I am aware of - other than the Missing Sync User Guide that you received [as portable document format file] when you purchased the Missing Sync for Palm OS.
There is some developer documentation available from Apple, but it has little direct bearing on anything like the issue you are seeing. Your crash logs should have provided an indication of what was going on, and - using them - Mark/Space should have been able to identify your issue pretty easily.
It's very difficult to troubleshoot unusual issues remotely. Common problems - which can be easily identified - are readily corrected just by following the instructions posted by some knowledgable person here in the Apple Discussions forums. Given the unique circumstances you report of total failure following the installation of the Missing Sync, it's very likely that the actual culprit in your configuration is NOT the Palm desktop, iSync, .Mac Sync, the Missing Sync for Palm OS or your Treo 600. Something unique about your configuration is likely responsible. Trying to eliminate the variables, though, is not an easy task.
One relatively easy way to troubleshoot such issues is to create a new user, reinstall the Missing Sync and attempt to synchronize using that new user account. If that process is successful, you'll immediately know that something involving your existing user account is responsible for the issue.

  • Importing contacts, calendar, etc from Palm Tungsten E2 to iphone 6

Does anyone know how to import the contacts, calendar, to do list, etc from a Palm Tungsten E2 into an iPhone 6?

Thank you for the information.  I tried to sync through outlook as the instructions said but had problems with installing outlook on the XP machine, had problems with the Palm software on my Windows 7 machine, etc.  Spent lots of hours trying to get this to work but I think most of the problems were due to issues with my 2 different computers.  Finally found out about CompanionLink.  Installed that software on my XP machine since that is where my Palm Desktop resides.  Had to add the app DejaOffice on my I-Phone.  Synced the 2 together and everything was transferred onto my phone in the Dejaoffice app.  All calendar and contact information was also synced into the I-phone calendar and contact list.  The only thing I will have to copy and paste are the reminders and other notes into the phone reminders and notes and then I should be able to delete the DejaOffice app.  The companionlink software is usually 49.95 to purchase but you can download a trial version for 14 days which works just fine.  It took a total of about 25 minutes to download and sync my Palm and phone and I had previously spent at least 8 hours trying to get things to work.  So frustrating.  But thank you for at least offering some help.

  • PALM TUNGSTEN E2 FATAL RESET AND LOSS OF DATA

    Hello
Legendeld helped me with a similar problem on 10th July at 1.02pm.
I tried to enter new data on my Palm diary for August 19th.  I got fatal reset message.  I didn't note specifically what the fatal reset message said.
Because I had had a similar problem on 10th July, I pressed reset and then deleted two repeat items which I had for that day (Person X on holiday in USA Aug 12-16 and Person Y on holiday Aug 18-25).  I found that I could then enter the new data for August 19th without any problem.
But a little while later I discovered that the Palm had deleted nearly all recently entered data in my diary for the foreseeable future.  Not ALL the data - some items remained.  But as far as I can tell, the only data retained are those which were entered some time ago.
I have been having problems with my Hot Sync so I haven't hot synced my Palm with my laptop for some time, so I haven't got backups on my laptop.
Is there any way of retrieving the lost diary data?  Which means, in effect, returning to the situation PRIOR TO the Fatal Reset message which I had?  Other Palm functions, e.g. Addresses, appear to be unaffected....
Thank you for any help you can give.

First, using a card backup application is the best advice you will ever get.
NVBackup (you only need binaries.zip) only for some Palm Devices so please read the info carefully @
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=92189&package_id=186018
BackupMan for all Palm devices @
    http://www.bitsnbolts.com/backupman.php
As to your recent entries not being kept, I can only speculate that this is caused by the fact that the PalmOS 'writes' (saves) the info when you exit the app. If you have a problem with DB corruption or whatever then this may stop the 'write' from happening or at least happening properly.
eg: If you input text or change prefs etc in any app then do a Soft Reset before exiting the app then none of what you have done will be saved.
You may have a corrupt DB so as the first step I would suggest you try:
    DBFixit @
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
Install to your Palm as usual.
    Launch DBFixit
    Tick: 'Remove Deleted Rec's'
    Tap: 'Easy Ck.'
After the scan a note is displayed showing any corrupt Contact, Calendar, Task, Memo etc
To fix the problem using DBFixit you will have to purchase it and do the above again.
Then set the Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Memos etc conduits to Handheld Overwrites Desktop (but not Default) and HotSync
If you depend on your Contacts, Calendar, Tasks etc a lot, I sugggest you at least consider buying DBFixit as it will make fixing any future DB corruptions as easy as pushing a button.
This will be handy when you are not near your computer
PS: I don't work for them, I just thank them
All the best, woz of oz

  • Palm Tungsten E2 HELP!!!!!

I have had my Palm Tungsten E2 for years now and have always been able to sync it to my desktop, until recently.  I have Windows Vista and we recently installed a Vista service pack to help speed up our computer and I have since not been able to hotsync.  I downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2, but in the middle of configuring my hotsync preferences my computer gave me the blue screen of death and froze on me.  I tried 3 times to install and configure 6.2 and it did this every time.  When I tried to download Palm Desktop 4.1.4 I got an error message saying it can't be installed on my computer.  Before we installed the Vista service pack I had all my palm information backed up on my hard drive on an earlier version of Palm Desktop (maybe 4.0?), but when I tried to install one of these newer versions it deleted the older version and ALL of my data!  I am freaking out because I depend on my palm for everything and I HAVE to have a backup of my information!  Can anyone help? Please?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Best backup advice is to download a freeware app called NVBackup. Unzip the files to your computer. If you don't already have a SD card for your E2, get one...regular SD (not SDHC) no larger than 2GB. Format it in the E2 using the Card Info app. Then manually copy the NVBackup.prc file you downloaded and unzipped, to the /palm/launcher folder on the card. If your computer doesn't have a SD card reader, you'll need to get one (maybe $10-15). With nvbackup.prc file copied to the card, pop the card into the E2, run NVBackup, and run a backup of your entire E2 to the card. No worries thereafter...set it to run a backup every night (and limit the number of "cycles" to 3 or 4. Post back if you have any questions about how to do any of this.
