Installing Missing Effects

Hello all,
I'm taking an after effects class at college and decided I'd like to work on my ae projects at home as well. So, I bought a new laptop with windows 64 bit, downloaded a free trial of after effects 5.5, and transferred the projects I created on the campus's computer to my new laptop via external hard drive. The projects opened, but a few things were missing. For one, the effects I used on the project when created on the campus's computer did not register with my trial version of ae 5.5. I got a message stating that I needed to install those missing effects (cc starburst, starglow, and so on). How do I do this?

You buy them. Starglow is a commercial third-party effect that won't magically appear regardless whether or not you run in trial mode or the full version. You can of course download demo versions of these effects but will have to live with watermarks.

Missing effects installed yet not updating

I opened a project that uses effects that were missing from my system and received the red screen alert. I downloaded and installed the effects and they now appear in the effects menu in FCPX, yet FCPX is still telling me the 6 effects are missing. How do you fix this so that the effects update and apply?
They should just apply once they have been installed yet they do not. One of the effects did update when I installed it but there are 6 instances that will not.
The effects are: Alex4d Mask+4, Alex4d Mask+8 and Alex4d Mask+16. See the screengrab below showing the installed effects and also the missing effects alert for those same effects.

When you add or update an effect, title, transition etc in the effects browser, FCP will sometimes not see it until you close and reopen FCP. Even if it sees the additional effect it will not apply it to an instances in the project timeline. You have to reapply it. One would think in your case where the effect was missing it would automatically add it once it appeared in the browser but perhaps not. I would relaunch FCP and see if that fixes it. If not then You will need to reapply the masks.

How to install missing references

Im using a template I found on youtube that was made in March 4, 2015 Free 3D Intro #41 | Green Colorful Synced Wings Intro Template - YouTube and I went to open up the after effects part ( because it came with a folder with premade template for Cinema 4D and after effects, and when i opened it i got this message:
( This project contains 9 references to missing effects. Please install the following effects to restore these references.("S_TVDamage","S_ZDefocus","S_Shake","Looks","S_Glow","S_ChannelSwitcher","Par ticular")
I want to know how to fix this so that i am able to carry on with the tutorial of the video. I am using After Effects CC 2014. Please tell me how to download these missing effects!

It's simple: You buy the plug-ins. One is GenArts' Sapphire suite, the other is Trapcode Particular. Both have demo/ trial versions, too.

Missing effects in cs5. Error message when I add presets.

So I'm new to AE, and need some help. When I add the "rotate over time" animation preset to a title, it says "this favorite contains 1 reference to a missing effect. Please install the following effect to restore this reference". Does anyone know how I can get this worked out? Everything is there in my effects and presets, except this error message keeps showing up when I add it. When I look in my presets folder, the transform is clearly there. Any help? Something I'm missing/overlooking?
Specs: 2010 17 in mbp, 2.53 ghz i5, 8 gb ram, 500 gb. AE cs5 10.2

Basically the documentation of this custom preset should have contained some code thant you need to insert into "PresetEffects.xml" and is just for naming purposes. So as long as you can live with the "missing effect" name you have nothing to worry about.

Missing effect problem!

I have downloaded a project from a friend and in this project he uses the plug-in effect Trapcode Particular. I knew this before i downloaded his project so i intalled the effect on my machine too. But now when i open his project i always get the error message "This project contains 5 references to missing effects. Please install the following effects to restore these references. ("Particular")" and i have no idea why??
I've tried to reinstall several times, both after effects and trapcode particular but nothing seems to work, always the same error message. I've installed the effect in my programs folder, in the adobe folder, in the after effects folder, in the after effects/support files/plug-ins/effects folder but still nothing! I've also read somewhere that if you get these type of error messages the effect will work anyway but it doesnt! And in the "effects and presets" panel the effect shows up under the missing tab??
Another wierd thing is that if i go to my timeline and then click on "rain" wich is the layer particular is used on, i can still use and configure all the settings for the effect in the effect control but nothing happends on the screen. And istead of just saying "Particular" in the effect control it says "Missing: Particular" even if i can still tweek the settings!?
I really need help with this,isthis a bug or glitch or what, anyone else ever had this problem or similar, please help!

Yes, this is as designed and ws introduced in AE 7 or CS3 (can't remember exactly...). the rest is unclear, since you didn't say anything about which version of AE nor your operating system. On a guess I would say you run CS5, but do not use the correct 64bit versions of the plug-ins, so naturally, nothing shows up because it cannot support 32bit plug-ins. Other than that it could be anything from permission issues to some system DLL used by the plug-ins missing...

Can't Install after effects please help

i have adobe cs5 master collection and every thing was fine untill my computer crashes due to virus i finally i install windows 7 on my computer.
and when i try to install my adobe cs5 master collection on my new os every thing installed except after effects and i am getting an error message.?
can you please help me out to install after effects on my new os.? the error message is some of the features are missing.? thats why after effects installation can't be completed.?

and it has os requirement not met i have windows 7 professional with 64 bit.
first message says some required components may have failed to install.
this could impact functionality of installed applications.
some of the solution they are providing.
1.restart the application.
2.exti all applications including start up items virus checking and firewall software.
3.launch the installer and reinstall your application.

Installing After Effects on headless render nodes

I'm trying to install After Effects CS5.5 render engine on a set of render nodes that don't have DVD drives (or any optical drive). I was advised to copy the install files from the DVD to the desktop via flash drive. I did that and the install starts OK but then it asks for the 2nd disc. I copied that disc's content to the desktop also but I can't get it to find it. Anyone have any thoughts?

You should be able to copy all of the files off of the disc into the same folder and it should work, but if you are having trouble, you can download the trial of CS5.5.

On the download page, please read the whole page before clicking the links - people miss some important information on the page that causes issues.

Help! project contains 1 reference to a missing effect

I working on a after effects(CS3 ) project that was started by a another designer and when I open the project I get a "this project contains 1 reference to a missing effect.Please install the following effect to restore this reference. (Inner Bevel")
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not related to AE. AE does not have an Inner Bevel effect. The designer probably was using third-party plug-ins like Boris Continuum Complete or such. Since it's CS3, you may however be able to re-create the look using layer styles. You'd still need a reference image, though, as I consider it very likely that identical values have a different meaning in the layer style than they would have in the plug-in. Therefore a phone call to the person is unescapable, if only to confirm my theory. If he can tell you, what plug-in he used, you should at least be able to obtain the demo version of it and use it as a reference.

Hi, I hope someone can shed some light on this.
When loading projects I sometimes receive this error.
This project contains 2 references to missing effects. Please install the following effects to restore these references (“Form”)
It then loads, but doesn't work as it should. The number of missing effects changes, but the references ("Form") is consistent. No other effects are listed.
Do you know why this might happen?
I purchased the files from VideoHive, but it's happening with 4 our of 5 purchased files. I've tried loading them on both CS5 (- they are CS5 versions of the effect according to the author) - and also tried loading them into CC. This shows the same error.

I am trying to download Adobe reader latest version and when I hit download a bar appears at the top of the screen telling me to install missing plugins but firefox states plugins up to date what can I do?

I am unable to download Adobe reader to update my system as I only have version 7 on my computer. Normally I would be able to download direct from Adobe and my system would update but when I try to download a message bar appears which states on the left hand side "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" and on the right hand side there is a button which states "install missing plugins". When I click on the button a dialog box appears which states "no suitable plugins where found with a message next to a manual install button "unknown plugin(application/getplusplusadobe16299)

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:

I cant even find it in creative cloud.
I want to make a intro but it dossent allow me to even find/ istall it.

If your system does not meet the minimum system requirements you have to go back to a version that does. Try the direct download links you'll find here.. CS5 comes bundled with CS4 for AE which is the last version to run on a 32 bit system.

I installed EBS R12 in my desktop through vm ware. my host os is windows xp and my guest os is oel 5.3. Now when i am trying to open any form based window through OAM in firefox browser, install missing plug ins error occurs.

Somewhere i heard that we have to create a sybolic link with the java plugin. Where can i find that java plugin in our system and to where i have to crete the link.from where you heard that, it is required ?

I got the same Probs on C++ 2008 but i have reinstall it so i got no problems there but on C++ 2010 i cant reinstall it when i try it he say me that i dont have more C++ 2010 on my Computer and i must install a new version so i install it but when i install a new version he say me "error during installation" :on your computer, there is a new version...

when i open my System Panel > programs and functions THERE is no Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 NOTHING from this i just have 2005 2007 and 2008 and there works !
But i dont have any Visual 2010 Version on my Computer i cant install it or reinstall it i cant do nothing with the Version 2010 so i have the problem too install After Effects :/

I have tried to install After Effects twice now. Every time I get the message that installation was successful, but patch failed. I uninstall, download and install again but the same error appears. Error U44M1l210
