Installing network card in solaris 7 intel version

hai,
i installed solaris 7 in a intel platform. but the network card is not getting recoganised. the card is Compex Readlink RL2000 pci card. how i will configure it. please help me.
shibin

If the card is not recognized, then it's probably unsupported by solaris.
Either you can get a solaris 7 driver from the card's vendor, or you
get a new nic that is support under solaris 7.

  • Install network card on solaris 8 x86 10/1

    Hi
how can I install my netwoek card on solaris 8 x86
    Thank a lot

In the same way you install any other card. Plug the card in
the slot., and install the appropriate solaris driver for that
network card. May be you want to detail the problem, if this
is not you are looking for.
    Thx

  • How to install lan card in solaris 11

    Hi,
can some one please tell me how to install lan card in solaris nevada snv_55b X86, 5.11
When i do ifconfig -a it only displays loop back driver only
    lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
The other driver was missing can please some one tell me how to install that?

Well, the lan card has to be one that is supported by Solaris and you need to have the proper driver installed before you'll be able to get it running. A good starting point would be to look at the Solaris Hardware Compatability List (HCL) at:
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/hcl/index.html
There is a blue box which says "Check out the X86 device list" which may be a good place to start. You won't be able to pick out Solaris version you're running for the OS type menu but if you can find the device anywhere you should at least be able to determine which driver it uses so you can check that against your system. If you don't have the driver package installed, you'll have to install it before you can see the device. If course, if the device isn't supported you're stuck. At least the HCL can help you select a new interface card which should work.

  • How to install a network card on Solaris 10

    Thank you Zettabyte!!
Folks, network printers should NOT BE configured like this:
    lpadmin -p somequeue -s someprinter
that creates a remote style queue and puts all the I/O and processing capability on the basic LPD listener present on network printer interfaces. This will cause problems down the road, not to mention that you cannot control access, get any logging, filter content, or control banner pages.
Network printers should use any software (or PPD file) supplied by the vendor over the basic lpadmin/netstandard config.
You can install CUPS, but Oracle won't support it until it's part of the OS (S11, apparently).
The "System Administration Guide: Solaris Printing" is highly recommended for those administering printers on Solaris.

  • Boot Camp Windows 8.1 Installation Did Not Install Network Card

I just installed a Windows 8.1 Boot Camp partition on a new Mid 2013 MBA. The install ran the support software and installed the drivers. However I don't show any network cards in my Windows 8.1 installation. I reran the support sw manually and it went through and supposedly fixed any driver errors but I still don't see a network card or have a network connection. It works just fine in my OSX partition, so it is definately a driver issue. *** do I need to do to get the network driver installed?

In Thehatters defence, this was initially posted in the MacbookPro forum and then moved to Boot Camp,
If you have any joy solving your trackpad device driver issue, feel free to post here (there might be a similar fix for my  wireless adapter device)

  • Network cards for Solaris 8 x86

Which network cards are supported by Solaris 8 x86 ?
    Thank you !
    dorin.

Are you considering any particular cards ?
    I have had good luck with DEC21040 (10baseT) and DEC21140 (100baseT) cards
in Solaris 7 through Solaris 10 on x86.
The same can be said for 3Com 3C905C-TX cards.
Solaris 8x86 will recognize many chipsets natively,
and a number of third party developers have created working driver packages.
Most of their driver packages are free, but a few are not free.
Solaris 9 works with a few more, and Solaris 10 works with yet more adapters.
The Solaris 8x86 HCL list has the native cards.
This other Sun web page can direct you toward 3rd party sites.

  • What 100MB Network Cards will Solaris 2.5.1 auto-detect

I need a PCI network card that Sow-lrais 2.5.1 will recognize. It must be 100baseT. The ones it enumerates at install time are aincient -- SMC/Western Digital, etc. Any modern cards that will work?
Please help me move on -- I've wasted days digging for old cards and trying them.
    Thanks
    Daniel

elxl comes from the elxl driver. I am afraid that you probably can't just change this behavior. Why would your vendor do such a thing though? To me that seems incredibly stupid.

  • Installing Network Adapter in Solaris (SPARC)

    please don't double post !
Please read my answer to your enquiry

  • Installing a second Network Card

Having just installed Solaris 8 on an Intel based machine, the system is identifying two installed network cards.
Can anyone tell me how to configure the second Network Card - IP address etc as the Web Start package will only allow configuration of the first network card

    You just need to create a new text file /etc/hostname.{nic-interface-name}
Lets assume the system has two intel etherexpress pro NICs installed. The intel NIC's driver
name / interface name is "iprb". So the two NICs are named "iprb0" and "iprb1".
The file /etc/hostname.iprb0 should already exist (created by the inital installation).
Just create /etc/hostname.iprb1 and put into this file the ip-address of the iprb1 interface.
You can also use a hostname in that file and add a hostname -> ip address mapping
    into the /etc/hosts file.
During the next reboot the system will automatically bring up both the iprb0 and iprb1
    interface.

Can you install Oracle 9i on Solaris Intel ? 32 / 64 bit

    Hello dear people,
I'm trying to install the 9i Database for Sun SPARC (32-bit) on an Intel machine with Solaris 8 running. I followed all steps of the installation documentation, but when I try to execute the runInstaller programm, I get always the following error:

  • Network Card Installation problem

    Hi All,
I have HCL LX INIFINITY POWERLITE 6010 G1 laptop which Marvel Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller . I tried lot of time to install the driver of it on Sun Solaris but I am not able to install it. I have done add_drv -i and give device id and vendor id . Still gives error softwares is partially install but not able to connect hardware. This lan driver is installed on Windows and Linux . Can anybody help me to sort out my problem or some pkg to download .
    Thanks in advance.

I don't think your network card is Solaris compatible. A good stable choice is 3C905 by 3Com and Intel eepro100.
    2) I have got a no name brand network card with
Realtek RTL8029 chip. At the begining of the
installation, the hardware detection software does
detect the card and assign resources to it. Later on
during the installation, the program ask me what IP
address to assign to the system, so I enter an IP
address. AS soon as, I click OK. I got a messange
like the IP address can not be assigned to the network
card. Does this mean my network card is not
    compatible?Chetan Bhargava

Is Solaris Intel version available to developers?

Thanks, Stan, for the answer and links.
I am supremely disappointed that Adobe is abandoning Encore far too soon. We, your PAYING customers still depend upon DVDs and BlueRays as the tangible deliverable to our paying customers.
I followed the directions for installing Premiere Pro CS6, and with some hiccups, finally got it to work. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to UNinstall. There is no Uninstaller inside the Premiere Pro folder (nore any of the CS6 aps). I'm on Windows 7 Pro, and there is no longer an Add/Remove Programs control panel. Can you tell me how I am supposed to uninstall?
