Installing new SIM card

I've been having service trouble with my iPhone. Randomly, it'll say that i have no service when everyone else, including other iPhone users, have service. I went to a ATT store, and they provided me with a new SIM card and told me to replace my old one and that I'd still have all of my contacts and information since the iPhone backs itself up thru iTunes. I installed the new SIM card and plugged my phone to my computer, and it prompted me to make a new account and purchase the service (which I had already done the first day i got the phone back in december) can anyone help me replace the SIM card without having to pay for a hwhole new account?

i know that it asks if i'm an existing AT&T customer or if im new. I always say that I'm an existing customer and it stills asks me to sign up like I did the first time I got my phone. So do you not remember how you replaced your SIM card without having to purchase a whole new plan?

Ipad Air 2 cellular/Wifi - With new sim card installed keeps on saying NO SIM

I got new ipad air 2 - installed Carrier sim card, Ipad keeps on saying no sim found "NO SIM"
On call with Apple technicians this problem was resolved by resetting the network settings, but today again its showing NO SIM
Has anyone else encountered this problem

Chiming in from the US, it seems that a lot more of us are having this issue as well lately. My iPad has worked well under 3 OSs and I have never seen that NO SIM message until this week. I am running iOS 5 since it was released, but have not yet upgraded to iOS 5.0.1, and all of a sudden, I see that NO SIM message pretty much all the time.
I have never removed my SIM or had any trouble with 3G before this week. It's not a big problem for me since I don't use it very often at all - not even on a data plan now - but it's annoying and not what I paid for. And if it happens to my wife, she'll be in trouble.
Apple folks, has there been any official acknoeldgement for this issue, and has it been properly elevated so it will be addressed? There are quite a few threads on this out there.

I read a lots of comments about the Iphone 4S . I had all the problems where it did work for a few minutes and tried everything . Main thing is you need a new sim card 128mb not the 64 . Do not use your old Sim card that you have on the Iphone 4 , Looks like it wares and does problems. I helped many friends where I am now at the Red Sea in our resort in Egypt and thye had many problems but one main thing was the Sim Card.
Other than this no problems at all.

No carrier "automatically" unlocks at end of contract - many won't do it at all, even if requested. I don't know what your carrier's policy is since you didn't say what country you're in.
However, if I understand you correctly, you didn't change carriers so it doesn't matter if it was unlocked or not. Try the following steps, as needed:
1. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons for at least 19 seconds until the Apple logo appears
2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
3. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
4. Replace SIM card (don't care what Telstra says)
5. Restore phone in iTunes as new, without using a backup
6. Take phone to Apple.

IPhone 4 New SIM Card?

I was told that I need to purchase a new SIM card for the new iPhone 4 for it to work. Can't I just take out my current SIM card and put it in the new iPhone? That is what they did when my wife got her new iPhone 3GS last year.

The iphone 4 uses a micro sim & will come with such installed pre-activated, only requiring a connection to itunes to complete the activation process. All other iphones use the standard sim.

Contacts and new sim card and number

I am getting a new sim card with a new phone company and a new number but I do not want to loose my messages, contacts, calendar items and emails and notes.
So how do i go about being able to sync them to my phone once I install the new sim card?

Changing the SIM card will not effect your data as an iPhone does not store any data on the card. If you're concerned, create a backup before changing the card.

"Unable to load network list" on new sim card overseas on unlocked iphone 4

I recently bought an Iphone4 (unlocked) from australia. While traveling overseas I inserted a new sim and got the message "unable to load network list", and could not activate my new sim card. Could not find the answer on the discussion board here but got in touch with my provider back in oz who helped me.
Solution: You need your laptop with Itunes on it. Turn the phone off, then connect to your laptop with Itunes already running and then turn the phone on. When you click on your phone icon in Itunes it will say "Congratulation, your iphone is unlocked". You can then eject your phone and your new sim is activated.

Sorry not sure why your new sim card isn't supported...not sure if it helps but I had my laptop connected to wifi at the time also, but I don't think it should matter. Its worth a try connecting to internet with ITunes on, connect your phone and then turn it on and see what happens.

Waiting for Activation i have an iphone 3g. iphone is from my old contract and i have given it to my girlfriend. she then went to the O2 store and they gave her a new sim card which is compatable with iphone 3g. O2 have told me the phone is not blocked.

After updating my iphone 4 to iOS 5, it refused to read my att SIM Card. I went to the Apple store (Lennox Mall, Atlanta Georgia) for help, they told me that it was an Att problem, and needed me to get a brand new Sim Card from Att. I went to Att and replaced my SIM Card to a new one. I later returned to the Apple store, but the phone still didn't work. The apple techs blamed the att network, and stated I needed to go home and wait for 24-48 hrs, and retry the att network again, and hopefully the phone will work. The next option they gave me was to pay $200.00 to get a replacement because my phone was out of warranty.
So I basically I have a phone which has never been dropped, not abused, no water damage or what so ever. Prior to my IOS 5 update, it worked perfectly without any problems. Now, that its not working as a result of either Apple's or Att's fault, no one seems to be helping or standing behing their product. Both parties are blaming each other for the problem. Can someone help??

I've seen a number of reports of this on here. In most cases where people took their phones in to the Apple store, they were given a replacement, even if the phone was out of warranty.

Use a paper clip and push it into that hole on the right side of the phone. The SIM container will pop out. Change the SIM and push it in.

You might want to ask you carrier that question. I can tell you that when I gave my old iPhone 4 to my wife we were able to get my old sim card that was in the 4 reprogrammed with the wife's phone number. The AT&T store didn't charge us to do this.
