Installing nVidia GeForce drivers on Mac OS 9 Classic Support

hi, everyone !
I have just installed classic support on my Quicksilver and i don't know how to install the drivers for my GeForce Ti4600 OEM video card.
Can you please give me more information ?
Cheers !

http://www.xlr8yourmac.com may be another place to find references you need.
Classic driver support is not the same as booting into Mac OS 9 support.
For instance Simcity 2000 would only run on my iMac G4 if I booted into Mac OS 9. When I try to run it in Classic, it stalls trying to load. The same thing happened to John Madden 2000 unless I changed to software graphics mode, and then only when booted into Mac OS 9.
Booting means going into Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Startup Disk and selecting the Mac OS 9 System Folder, and restart. Whereas Classic loads it in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Classic without a reboot.

  • Not Able To Install Nvidia Graphics Drivers

    Hello all!
This past week I just finished putting my new system together with a K8N Diamond Plus. Only major problem right now is i am not able to install Nvidia's drivers. Below are my components...
    XP 64-Bit Edition
    MSI K8N Diamond Plus
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
    BFG 7900 GTX 512MB
    1 Gig Coirsar Ram
2 Wester digital HD in Raid 0
When I try and install the graphics drivers i get the message " The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
I used the chip set drivers listed here: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=710&kind=1
Also I have tried the ones from NVIDIA's site: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp64_x16_6.83
The graphics drivers i used are from NVIDIA's site: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_81.98.html
BFG Tech support guy had me look under display adapters in device manager. It only has Standard VGA Graphics Adapter listed. He said I did not have my chip set drivers installed (though i have), or the motherboard was not recognizing it. Also he said they do not support XP-64 and would not offer me any more support so long as i run it.
I just can not believe that XP 64, 7900 GTX, and this great K8N Diamond Plus can not get along.
Any advice anyone has for getting my Diamond Plus and my graphics card to jive together would be greatly appricated.
    Thankyou all!!

Thankyou guys for the responses. I was able to find drivers that worked with my card here..
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?drivers&series=80&os=2&type=1&dir=1
Now my only current issue left is that I have no sound. It is enabled in the BIOS, installed the 64-bit drivers from MSI site, tired installing drivers off disk. Any suggestion?

  • New kernel and problems installing nvidia-legacy drivers

I just compiled new kernel, and I can't install nvidia-legacy drivers properly. Pacman installs them, but the module (nvidia.ko) goes to /lib/modules/2.6.19-ARCH, and I want it to 2.6.19.2.. It doesn't work if I just copy the module..
I've compiled kernel many times without problems when I was still using Slackware.  So, what do I need to configure to use the new module directory? I Propably made some small/stupid mistake..
I tried legacy drivers from nvidia.com, but they didnt compile.. weird, gonna try that again too..

You need to install the nvidia drivers, or any other non-kernel drivers, specifically for the kernel you are using. Arch packages the nvidia drivers to work with the Arch kernel packages, and the "Arch way" to deal with your situation is to modify the appropriate PKGBUILD to match your kernel, create a custom package with makepkg, and install it with pacman.
You can also use the nvidia installer, but in that case the nvidia files installed on your system will not be under pacman's control.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 Mac/Adobe QT32 Server (Not Responding)

Has anyone else used a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 4GB on a mac in AE? We just got one from Macvidcards and AE seems really slow starting and closing.
In fact when you quit the MediaCore then hangs for ages when you restart. I edited the supported Raytracer setting and it is seen and can use Cuda.
Also is anyone still getting "Adobe QT32 Server (Not Responding)", every time you start AE? If you look in process viewer it shows up.

  • I have installed nvidia graphics drivers on windows 7 (bootcamp) now i can't use windows, it's just a black screen, how do i resolve this?

I have installed nvidia drivers from nvidias website for my geforce gt 650m on my early 2013 macbook pro retina 15", now i can't use windows in bootcamp, whenever i go into windows it turns into a black screen before i can see my desktop. How do i resolve this?

From the home screen, double click the home button to bring up the Recently used App list. Find the App with the problem and hold your finger on it untl the Apps start to shake. When that happens tap on the (x) on the right side corner of the app to close it.
Tap the home button again to get back to the home screen, and try to open the App again.
If that doesn't work, try resetting the iPad. (there should be no data loss):
Press and Hold the Power and home buttons until the Apple Logo shows up. Ignore any sliders that may appear.
When the iPad turns back on, try opening the App again.

  • Windows 8.1 and Nvidia GeForce drivers

Hello - I'm looking for some help with Windows 8.1 drivers for Nvidia GeForce 9800GT.
I have been using the drivers for this card provided by Windows Update for a couple weeks (since I installed Windows 8.1).  They worked fine, until a couple days ago when I started getting BSODs with the error VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR.  I
get that error within a few minutes of booting the system.  No other Windows Updates occurred right before this started.
If I try to use the drivers from the Nvidia website, I get a black screen with the mouse cursor blinking as soon as the drivers are installed.  I tried multiple versions, latest stable, older stable, latest beta.  The only way to resolve it is
to reboot into safe mode, uninstall the driver, and revert to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter driver.
It seems the issue with Nvidia have been reported a lot, at least when 8.1 was first released, but I have been unable to resolve it.  I don't see reports of the other issue though, with the drivers provided by Windows Update.
    Any help is appreciated!

Hi, I forgot I posted my question over here as well. I posted it in another Microsoft forum and also the Nvidia forum - this one isn't emailing me the replies for whatever reason.  No one has found a solution for this yet, and I have found at least
one other person experiencing the same issue.  So I thank you for taking a stab at it:
I know this is a graphic driver problem but that's all I know so far. I'll give you the full sequence of events, as far as I can remember. The important note is that there are technically TWO separate errors here: Nvidia driver doesn't work, MS driver doesn't
work.  I will be thrilled to get a solution to either one!
    1) Couple weeks ago, I bought brand new computer parts and did a clean install of Windows 8.1 (with Update 1) on an empty hard drive (formatted). The Nvidia 9800 GT is a video card I had in another computer, and I moved it to this new one.
    2) On first boot of Windows 8.1, I installed ethernet drivers.
    3) Did a Windows Update, including an automatic update for my video card (it was part of "Important Updates", not the optional ones)
    4) Went to Nvidia website and got drivers for my video card, even though it was working OK - I am in the habit of always getting the latest Nvidia drivers.
    5) Got a black screen with only the mouse cursor showing
    6) Fought through getting to safe mode, uninstalled the driver, tried reinstalling it a few times, followed some instructions to resolve a conflict between the Nvidia driver and MS driver, gave up when nothing worked.
    7) Reinstalled the Microsoft driver
    8) Used my computer for a couple weeks, no issues. I installed all of my software.  That means: ZERO special software had been installed when I was experiencing the Nvidia driver black screen issue.  Some special software had been installed by
the time I experienced the Windows driver BSOD issue, but at the time of the crash, nothing had been changed in at least a few days.
    9) While playing a game, got a BSOD with VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR.
    10) Every time I reboot and have the Windows driver installed, no matter what I am doing, I get a BSOD or my video flips out within 15 minutes (fancy colors and patterns and it freezes).
I have uninstalled all video card drivers, to the best of my knowledge, and am running my computer with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (so minimum resoltuon and awful quality, but it's something).
There had been no Windows Updates immediately prior to the crash.  There were some a few days prior, but I was using my computer heavily between then and the crash with no issues.
I tried reinstalling both the Microsoft driver for my card and the Nvidia driver, at separate times, in safe mode.  I tried it a lot of times.  I tried different versions of the Nvidia drivers.  Per the recommendation of someone else, I used
the uninstallers for all antivirus programs on my computer and am using Microsoft Defender.
I don't want to do a System Restore because then whatever caused this will probably just happen again.
Unforunately, since I really need my computer working properly for work, I will be reverting to Windows 7 in the next day or two if this is still unresolved.  Hopefully someone will have a brilliant idea before then!

  • Can not install NVIDIA Display Drivers

    I have a T61 (7664-17U) with XP SP2.
For sometime now I've had problems with the NVIDIA display drivers.  Occasionally my NVIDIA drivers disappear and are replaced by VGA .  I notice this when I can't Standby or Hibernate my system, those options are grayed out.  Also, interacting with the display is difficult..
I've tried several times to update my 12/2007 drivers to the latest ones from the Lenovo site.  The latest drivers appear to be installing (InstallShield?) but I get a message after a few minutes that "The system has not been modified. To install the program at a later time, run the installation again."  No other information.
I found out early that if I install the old drivers everything was OK, until yesterday.  Yesterday when I tried to install the old drivers I got
    " Error Code: -5004 : 0x80070005 rror InformationSetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1968 PAPP:NVIDIA Display Drivers PVENDOR:NVIDIA Corporation (http://www.nvidia.com/) PGUID:EFB7D050-CAD2-11D4-B34D-00105A1C23DD $9.1.0.429
    @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180."
I tried several iterations of installing the drivers including downloading the latest ThinkVantage installer.
How can I solve this problem?  Should I try downloading the latest drivers directly from NVIDIA website?
I'm very appreciate of any help!  Thanks, Tilly

"Should I try downloading the latest drivers directly from NVIDIA website?"
You can't install drivers obtained from the NVidia website. You'll get a "No compatible hardware found" message.
You're supposed to only install video drivers obtained from Lenovo.
If your T61 is still under warranty, a request for service is in order.

  • Installing nVidia Geforce 2 MX 400

I have installed Arch Linux quite a few weeks ago; but I'm still trying my best to install the nividia display driver for my graphics card (nVidia Geforce 2 MX 400).
I have read up all the documentations and I still find it hard to do this task.
When I used the terminal and executed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-94.43.01-pkg1.run file without any window manager running, I get this problem:
ERROR: Unable to determine the version of the kernel sources located in '/lib/modules/2.6.35-ARCH/build'.  Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your kernel and that they are properly configured; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure you have the 'kernel-source' or 'kernel-devel' RPM installed. If you know the correct kernel source files are installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the '--kernel-source-path' command line option.
ERROR: Installation has failed.  Please see the file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find suggestions on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com.
Now I'm using Arch Linux Kernel 2.6.35 and I have used this link to read how to get the source.
But where am I suppose to put it now? I do not want to change the kernel. I just want the nVidia installer to identify that there is a kernel source so that it can install.
This is a very old driver. Since now I have the nVidia driver installation package and also the kernel source can anyone please help me out with installing my graphics card driver?
    Thanks in advance.

Now I have finally gone step by step and installed a lot of packages including the xorg and mesa and also libgl.

And when I type the command to remove libgl, I get something different:
    # pacman -R libgl

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: ati-dri: requires libgl=7.8.2

    :: tuxracer: requires libgl
    :: unichrome-dri: requires libgl=7.8.2
    :: xorg-utils: requires libgl
I am confused at the moment. What am I suppose to do to install the driver when this libgl is always conflicting?
Why do you have packages for ati, intel, sis, ... graphics cards installed? Also, forcing the removal of libgl as was suggested might not be a good thing to do, you should probably uninstall those packages which you don't need after which you'll be able to uninstall libgl.
I hope you don't get in trouble now because by -Rd'ing libgl you've probably broken dependencies on your system which may give hiccups eventually.

  • Installing NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 problem

I have QU297AA#ABG h8- 1130a as bought from retail and planned to do some upgrades. I purchased the NVidia GeForce GTX 780 Graphics Card and was told I would also need a 600W or better power supply, so I also purchased a 750W one. I have installed everything correctly (to my knowledge) and when I try to boot up the PC, it reaches the welcome screen which is blue and with the HP logo asking me to "press escape for startup menu". That does not work and the PC then beeps 4 times with long pauses in between before changing to a black screen at which I have to hard shut down the PC.
I know that the power supply is fine becuase when I saw back to the graphics factory card, it is fine. I have read a lot of support FAQs and they have told me to update the BIOS and to uninstall my old graphics driver. I have done both and the problem still persists. I have upgraded my BIOS from AMI 7.09 22/7/2011 to AMI 7.12 12/10/2011 which was the latest available.
According to the EVGA manual, the beeping sounds are from one of the following:
    1. The card is not seated properly (unlikely).
    2. There is a problem with the motherboard's graphic card slot (impossible, as the other one works).
    3. Supplemental PCI-E power is not connected to the graphics card (it most definetely is).
    4. Graphics card problem (unlikely, it is brand new).
It then says the problem is probably with the motherboard and to contact you.
I hope this has been enough information but I would like to know all of my options.

I will take a look at the specs on your MOBO o see which PCIe spec the slot is. The specs don't state the version. I will have to ask an HP internal source. It may take a day for me to get back to you, but as soon as I know, you will as well.

  • NVIDIA GEFORCE 8800GT in Mac Pro 08 machine

I recently posted a question about my Mac Pro's kernel panic issue on startup. After a call with AppleCare they determined it was a hardware issue. Since I no longer have AppleCare I took it to a local shop that is certified to work on Macs.
Their conclusion was that the video card went bad.
Now I know there is a recall/issue out on Macbook Pros with NVIDIA cards... however, it seems like there was never anything posted with Mac Pros. Obviously this being 3 years since I bought the machine warranties won't cover it. I've used my machine for art/design, so I was a little surprised when I wake up and I have no visual.
Is there a known issue or any coverage for this hardware defect?
I wanted to check her on the forums as none of my tech friends have worked on Macs, and the video cards for Macs are way more than the ones for PCs. As a last attempt I plan to bake the card in the oven, which a surprising number of users have had to do (all having their card for roughly the same time period and they just stop working).
Was 2008 just a bad year for NVIDIA?
Just seems odd that there is a known fix for this video card that multiple people have had to resort to, but there is no mention of NVIDIA acknowleding the issue. (Or maybe there is and I haven't stumbled across it on the web).
Any info is highly and greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

I've wondered the same thing myself about the issues with the nVidia chips from the '08 machines. I have a MacPro 3,1 that I got in late March '08 with the 8800GT. I had AppleCare and had several issues with my MacPro during those three years. The first problem I had was I started to get graphics corruption on the boot screen and regular kernal panics. Apple replaced the graphics card and everything seemed to be ok after that for a while. Then something happened where the computer would not power up at all. No lights, no fans, just completely dead. I suspected it was just a dead PSU however after seeing the repair reciept I was really supprised at what they needed to replace. Apple needed to replace both CPU's, the Memory, Logic Board, PSU, & Graphics Card. So it was esentially a completely new machine in an old case.
Now I'm having the same issue as before with the 8800GT having graphics corruption. I can't boot into OSX at all with out it crashing the system. I also get a BSOD when trying to load into Windows 7 via bootcamp. I remember Apple releasing an update to the 8800GT's EFI shortly after I got the MacPro when all the hoopla surrounding the mobile chips what going on. This patch seemed to slightly underclock (maybe undervolting) the GPU and increased the fan profile.
As it stands now I guess I'm just going to have to look for a replacement card. I think I'm going to switch to ATI/AMD at this point. I found the Sapphire makes a newer Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition, has a bit of a price premium for a year old card but it's definitely better than spending alsmost the same ammount on the Radeon HS 5870.

After install with current drives for card PS will not open. I cannot get to preferences to chg. GTU which is checked to unchecked to see if this is the prob. Have ??? Nvidia - no help there as they refer back to Adobe. Checked Adobe Support but no help there that I could find. The Raedon card that I ordered with the MacPro worked fine but needed additional speed in rendering as I work on very lg files. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know what additional info from me is needed. (All Master Suite apps open except PS and InDesign.) Thank you.

PS stopped at the very beginning of opening- no pref.,etc were read and the spinning ball continued until I force quit PS. After reading another discussion- "Photoshop Crashes" the response from c.pfaffenbichler held the key to getting PS to open. For now all is as it should be. I reset some of the pref. and have not run into any problems. I have not worked on the InDesign prob. but if cannot get it resolved will go to the correct forum for help. Thank you.

Since I installed nvidias new drivers 178.24, after effects instantly crashes while using opengl. Anyone else experienced this?
    I have Geforce 8600 GT.
As a minor note, I had major problems with the new quicktime 7.5.5 update, both After effects and Premiere got problems with interpreting footage and frames here and there got the "missing frame" look. I also got more problems so I uninstalled it instantly. Is there a major problem with the update or a major problem with me?
    Thanks

Sorry not to give more info on the Quicktime problem, I don't remember exactly what more problems there where as we have had extremely much to do these last couple of weeks and I just freaked out and uninstalled it as soon as the problems emerged. I do remember the frame issue however, it was very clear, i imported an image sequence in premiere and everything worked fine, then i updated and frames were suddenly dropped, then i uninstalled and installed 7.5 again and it worked just fine. I also tried to flush the cache, restart and generally search for the source of the problem for a couple of hours.

  • Nvidia 64bit drivers and Windows XP64Bit

Lo ppl , im a newbie here.
    Here we go :
Fresh install of Windows XP64 on my new Seagate Baracuda ,
Pressed F6 durring installation for Sata/Raid drivers  - windows reported corrupt files.
Windows then carried on installing fine, rebooted and system loaded fine.
K - time for NVIDIA drivers (latest 64bit drivers from nvidia)
Installed system drivers first including IDE drivers. - Reboot
System loads till Windows XP64 screen, scrolly finishes, and then screen goes blank and h/drive light flashes but system does'nt finalize boot.
Tried Roll back on all Nvidia drivers - no help
    2) - Reformat h/drive and whole proccess again. except instead of installing all Nvidia drivers, I just tried the Network drivers - same problem as b'fore
    Rollback also failed
    3) Reformat h/drive and whole proccess again. except instead of installing nvidia system files I installed nvidia display drivers for my Geforce. Same problem windows failed to post. And rollback also fails to repair problem.
tried system recover and that also did'nt work
    I'm   as hell.
    Any help plz

Sorted my problem out -  After reading 3hours of posts on this forum I came to the conclusion that keyboards and psu's are real NB on this mobo.
My 300W psu could this be the problem I asked myself
Well went out and got a 500W KME Gold unit not the best but not the worst
Reformated my HD and did win64 reinstallation
    Installed new PSU unit
Booted up win64 and installed NVIDIA 64Bit driver manually from Device Driver Menu
Rebooted and wolla   all works fine.
So I'm not 100% sure it was the PSU unit, I might temp a reformat again to verify if it was psu or way I installed drivers.
    Now next ?
Why does'nt any of the utils on MSI setup cd run on win64 or are there 64bit versions available , or alternative progs that I can use on win64 ?
