  • Java central instance (SCS) setup

    Hello,
I am new to SAP Java environment and have installed a Net weaver 2004s ABAP+JAVA instance. The question I have is, In an SAP Landscape, does the java central instance (SCS) numbering be the same as the system numbers used for ABAP only instances? What is the recommended and preferred method?
Please advise how multiple SCS are setup in your SAP environments.
    Many thanks,
    Regards,
    Nischal

    Hi Nisch,
Yes, you cannot have two instances with the same number on a single box.
BTW, let me clarify the terminology a bit. Systems do not have numbers, they have IDs, i.e. SIDs (e.g. NSP, J2E, CE1). A system may comprise several instances, e.g. central services instance (SCS), central instance (JCxx, DVEBMGSxx), dialog instances. Instances have numbers (shown as xx above) and these numbers must be unique.
It's hard to answer your question about "best practices" merely because it depends on many factors, like hardware, scenarios, etc. and there's no general solution. In theory (and in practice), you can have several usage types (EP, BI, XI) deployed in a single system, but you can also have a dedicated system for each of them. I would recommend that you have a look at the installation guides on http://service.sap.com/instguides.
    HTH!

  • EP 7 HA : Is the JAVA Central Instance a SPOF ?

    Hello,
We are planning on installing a SAP EP7 system in High Availability based on a HP Cluster.
We haven't still defined which components will be installed on the cluster and which components will be installed outside the cluster.
It is my undersatnding that only the SPOF should absolutely installed on the cluster :
SCS (enqueue server + message server)
    DB instance
I wanted to install the Java Central Instance outside the cluster , with the other additional application servers.
This way it will allow us to perform some portal customizing such as SSO with SAML, directly on the CI + Application servers without making any changes in the cluster.
But, we have been replied by SAP consulting that CI sould be installed on the cluster ,
Here is the answer we got :
    CI on switchover cluster?
There are two SPOFs on the CI that could be a reason to do so: the SDM and the Configtool. Both are located in the CI, and if the CI is not available the tools cannot be used. The requirement dependes on the SLA, and if configuration changes or deployments have to be performed in a downtime.
Frankly, I'm quite skeptical about that. Do you have any experience with EP andHigh Availability ?
Is it really necessary to install the CI JAVA on the cluster ?
Thank you in advance for your attention and your help.
    Best Regards.

Technically they're right, but in all HA envirpnments you need to trade off likelihood of problem vs cost. SDM and the configtool are only used in extreme cases - how many times do you have to change the JVM params or apply a patch, but you could also work around these by having another \JCxx\blah folder with the tools.

  • Dialog Instances Java are not up after System Copy NW2004s SR2 ABAP+JAVA

    Hello guys,
I have just  performed a system copy of our BW system (douple stack NW2004s) wich consists from CI and 2 DIs. First I  made an export using SAPINST (Software from SAP_BUSINESS_SUITE_2005_SR2 for sparc solaris), where I choosed in SAP Installation Master->SAp Netweaver 2004s Support Release 2->Additional Software Life-cycle Tasks->System Copy->Oracle->Source System->Central System->Based on ABAP and Java->Database and Central Instance Export. I couldn't find any special task for export java from my dialog instances, so I thought it would be ok like that. Then I used the same software on my target system, choosed ...Additional Software Life-cycle Tasks->System Copy->Oracle->Target System->Central System->Based on ABAP and Java->Central System Installation. In the Dialog input phase of SAPINST I indicated that use db specific tools to copy your database. So I made the database restore+recovery with our DB tools and continued withthe SAPINST and Import.
Afterwards the ABAP part and Java on the central Instance run perfect, but Java Stack is not up by both of Dialog Instances. I have checked the configtool on the server where the CI is running (the DIs are running on different linux servers) and couldn't see any entries for my dialog instances, only the CI was seable there. I tried to start configtool from the application server, but there I could find only the file config.properties in the directory /usr/sap/<SID>/.../j2ee/configtool/, others were simply not there, so it was impossible to start it. Have i forgotten something by EXPORT/IMPORT or I should just use other software for coping a System with douple stack on a CI and DIs? Or should I get configtools for Linux platform ( have searched but not found yet) and try to make the same changes wich i have done by the CI before i started Java on the CI? The most irritated point is that i can't see the dialog instanes in Configtool from the CI.
Any other suggestions and good advices?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Regards, Polina

  • How to add a java dialog instance to Java central instance of SAP CRM

    Hi Gys,
I have installed a new dialog instance for the CRM Java landscape for the version 7.01 .
CRM Abap instance is seperate and its data accessed by Jco connection by central instance but not dialog instance . Could you please let me know if any configuration steps to be followed.
    Thanks in advance
    Sudhakar

Could you describe your problem a little bit more.
I have installed a new dialog instance for the CRM Java landscape for the version 7.01 .
    CRM Abap instance is seperate
Ok, sounds like 2 Java instances and one ABAP instance.
and its data accessed by Jco connection by central instance but not dialog instance.
This is where I get confused.
Do you have one or more ABAP instances?
What is your actual problem (what do you want to do)?

  • Kernel Change on ABAP+JAVA Dialog instances

    Hi guys (& girls).
    Another question from me.
I installed two Dialog instances for an ABAP+JAVA System (BI 7). The Central instance is on AIX, the DIs are running on SLES / x86_64.
Now i want to change the kernel.
It's fully automated for the Centeral Instance - i do it with the JSPM. Is there also an automated possibiltiy for changing the kernel on the DI? Or do i have to do it manually?
There is no extra JSPM on the DIs. How do you do that????
    Thanks for your help,
    Martin

    Hi,
the above link does only describe Java only systems
For my distributed environments, I have setup a global NFS share which looks like:
    kernel
    \_ 640_EX2_UC
    |  \_ linuxx86_64
    |   |   \_ current -> ./PL145
    |   |   \_ PL111
    |   |   |   \_ disp+work
    |   |   |   \_ ... [all other files]
    |   |   \_ PL145
    |   |      \_ ...
    |   \_ aix
    |      \_ current -> ./PL145
    |      \_ PL111
    |         \_ ...
    |     ...
    \_ 700_NUC
The instances are linked against the current link, which points to the right kernel folder. I setup a script with copies my latest downloads to these folder structure by creating a new PLXXX folder. Then, when it is time, the "current" link is set to the new "PLXXX" folder. Thats all
    Thanks,

  • SAPINST: install IDES ECC6 EHP4 ABAP+JAVA (Windows 32 - Oracle)

    Hi,
I have received the new IDES ECC6 EHP4 DVDs and I nedd to install a ABAP+JAVA instance.
It is not clear which option I have to choose in the SAPINST program.
In the past was present ERP2005 central instance. And now ?
    Thank
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea,
As of SAP ERP 6.0 SR3, you must install an SAP ERP system only on 64-bit operating
    systems.
For the dialog instance, you can still use a 32-bit operating system
As of SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0, you can no longer install SAP
ERP dual stack (ABAP+Java) systems. If you want to use both SAP ERP ABAP and
Java Components in your system landscape, you have to proceed as follows:
    1. Install a separate SAP ERP ABAP system.
    2. Install a separate SAP ERP Java system.
    3. Configure the connection of the SAP ERP Java system to the SAP ERP ABAP
    back-end system
    Hope this clarifies your concern!!!
    Regards,
    Rajesh

  • System Crash during ERP 2005 (ECC 6.0) SR2 ABAP+JAVA installation

    Hi all,
I am fairly new to this fascinating world of SAP BASIS and recently got hit by an issue which I faced during an ERP 2005 SR2 (ECC 6.0) ABAP+JAVA installation.
    My Installation Particulars:
    1. OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-bit)
    2. DB: Oracle 10.2.0.2
    3. RAM: 2 GB
    4. Installation type: LOCAL and CENTRAL SYSTEM INSTALLATION.
I have tried the installation thrice and each time the IMPORT ABAP step (phase 18) comes, 3 parallel IMPORT JOBS runs and after few of them completes the system restarts or crashes abruptly. So as a matter of fact, the R3LOAD which were running had to stop without getting completed, so whenever I start from old installation, the INSTALLATION MASTER throws error and I had to start a new installation. then again, during this phase the system/server/computer crashes.
The minimum RAM requirement for this ERP installation is 3 GB, so probably 2 GB is not being able to cope up the pressure of the R3LOAD jobs...well, i am not sure of that!
During the parameter specification, at the DATABASE EXPORT screen I have specified 3 parallel jobs. Well, the question which I have are as follows:
    1. Will I reduce the number of PARALLEL JOBS to 1 or 2, without going with the default value of 3, in order to avoid these crashes?
    2. Can I still install the SAP with 2 GB RAM?
    Please do help...

Thanks everyone for your valuable replies.
Well, as far as the OS is concerned, this version (ERP 2005 SR2), is compatible on 32-bit OS also. I am confirmed because I have done this installation on different machines also, prior to this installation, where my OS was 32 bit, but RAM was 4 GB. That is why, I am presuming this to be a hardware issue.
By CRASH, I mean during that step the computer shuts down abruptly by itself.
Well, I am starting the installation again, by specifying only 1 parallel job. Let's see if it works or not! If it doesn't then I will have to increase the RAM surely.
Anyways, if you have anymore informations to share regarding this issue please feel free. I will soon post the UPDATE on this thread.
Thanks and Happy New Year to all of you.

  • Directory structure for  ABAP+JAVA Dialog Instance

    Hello,
Can any one clarify how will be the directory structure in a case where we have ABAP+Java System?
    For Central Instance,DVEBMGS<instance no>
    Central Services,SCS<instance no+1>
    Ex:DVEBMGS20
    SCS21
If I have another dialog instance, can I have only ABAP or only Java in that? What will be the directory structure? But I read that they will be in 1:1 ratio
Will it be D22(Only ABAP) or J22(Java only).
As a dialog instance, can ABAP exist with out JAVA.
or can JAVA exist without ABAP
Please explain the directory structure with an example.
    Thanks,

  • NW2004s: Homogeneous systemcopy ABAP + JAVA

When doing a combined ABAP + Java systemcopy via R3load procedure, the "old" configurations in the propertysheets on the filesystem may get lost.
What is the general procedure here to find out, what needs to be manually adapted after a systemcopy? I know the general "system copy guide" but that guide doesn't mention e. g. what to do if you copy EP 7.0 or a Solution Manager Diagnostics.
    Markus

    Hi Markus
In case of EP the configurations will be retained in the target system. You can just do one more step that is exporting the userdata from the ume of the source system(instance) and then after the installation of targret instance import it.
Other configurations will be retained. There are two post installtion steps metioned in the system copy guide. Please perform the same.
In case of solution diagnotices i am not so sure. Will try to find out and let you know
    Award points if usefull.

  • Prerequisites to install NW2004s WDP for ABAP

    Hi SDN Gurus,
I wanted to practice the WDP for ABAP in NW2004s in my PC. Could you please let me know how can I get the trial versions of these and the installation process.
    Thanks,
    David.

    Hi David,
Welcome to WebDynpro for ABAP .
    prequisites .
It was bundelled with Net weaver2004's .If you have mySAP businesss suit it will be with it . You need ECC6.0 and WAS 7.0 .so I doubt will it be avilable with 4.7 .
    Other than that
For Web Dynpro ABAP there are configuration settings for the areas ICM and ICF, as well as for the View Designer.
    · HTTP/HTTPS must be set in the ICM (see also Displaying and Changing Services).
    · The following configuration prerequisites must be fulfilled:
¡ ICF services must be activated.
If a service is not activated by default, you can activate it from the SAP Implementation Guide (IMG). In transaction SPRO choose Display SAP Reference IMG. The path in the Implementation Guide for SAP NetWeaver is: Application Server ® Internet Communication Framework ® Activate HTTP Services or Activate Services in Installation.
For more information see SAP note 517484.
¡ Administration of (ICF) server functions (authorization assignment): Administration of Server Functions
¡ Administration of (ICF) client functions (creation of RFC destinations, and so on): Administration of Client Functions
    · For the layout editor in the View Designer, in addition to the services for Web Dynpro ABAP listed in note 517484, the following services must be activated:
    ¡ /sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/public/bc/viewdesigner/
    ¡ /sap/bc/wdvd/
SSO must be set up on the respective application server (see also the security section in the table).
    1) Web Dynpro ABAP
As the name suggests Web Dynpro for ABAP uses exactly the same meta model as its cousin Web Dynpro for Java. A Web Dynpro component, a Web Dynpro view, a Web Dynpro model, a Web Dynpro controller have the same semantics both for ABAP and Java. The main difference is the designtime environment, the development infrastructure and the runtime environment.
The designtime environment is properly embedded in the ABAP Workbench where Web Dynpro artifacts are simply a new category like BSP applications or classical dynpro based applications before. Also no surprises regarding the development infrastructure. The correction and transport system keeps track on all changes that are done, versions them and helps to propagate the Web Dynpro application from development to production like you would do with ordinary BSP or dynpro-based applications.
Last not least the execution platform is the ABAP server that produces application content ready to be integrated in the NetWeaver Portal seamlessly. Features like portal eventing can be used between applications written in ABAP or applications developed with Java.
2 ) I can give you links that can help you a lot.
First of all start doing SAP SDN tutorials .
Create some compenents with BAPI , Component usage and ALV .
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/02e1fa45-0801-0010-10a0-f1cf47e8c943
    /people/marilyn.pratt/blog/2005/12/20/web-dynpro-for-abap
Try to Download demo tutorials from SDN library & Try to search WebDynpro ABAP WebLogs .
Wait not just that SAP has provided you with ample demo example of WD ABAP already bundled with SAP . Just Try out Components starting with WDR . I can tell you few like WDR_TEST_EVENTS ( It shows how every UI elments to use )
    See packages like SWDP_DEMO , SALV_WD_DEMO
    there are many more .

  • We need to reinstall the JAVA part alone in ABAP+JAVA

    Dear Sir/Madam,
We have an SAP ECC 6.0 system with ABAP+JAVA components. Now there are some issue with our Java comp. and I'm unable to start the JAVA engine. As we have done little configuration on JAVA side we are planning to reinstall the JAVA part alone.
1)Can we uninstall the the JAVA Component alone from the ABAP+JAVA Central instance?(Without affecting the ABAP Part)
2)Can we install a new JAVA addin in our existing ABAP+JAVA system?
3)If yes; is there any special steps appart from the master guide  "4.4.2 Installing the Java Add-In for an Existing ABAP System" ?
    Thank you,
    Siju

    Thank you for the update,
We have done a Homogeneous system copy from our DEV system to QA system(SAP ECC 6.0 ABAP+JAVA with Oracle 10g)
Our issue is we are unable to connect the VA it shows "Unable to lookup connection default".
We've noticed that the Instance ID in our config tool still shows the DEV Instance ID and the Instance.properties files shows the QA system instance ID.
    In our DEV it's given
    com.sap.engine.bootstrap.Bootstrap
    ./bootstrap
    ID0035522
    and QA it's
    ID0031354
In have changed the SID,HOST NAME and Instance ID in the config tool to the QA system param. as per the suggestions in the below link
Re: J2EE info status unavailable after system refresh
but still I am unable to connect the VA.
