Installing OBIEE 10.1.3.4 on Core 2 Duo processor

Hi -
I am trying to install OBIEE 10.1.3.4 on a Core 2 Duo processor laptop having 1 GB of RAM on Windows XP SP2. The installer is failing with error saying "Current windows version is not supported. OBIEE can only be installed on Windows XP x86, Windows Vista x86, Windows 64 bit .....".
Can anyone suggest how to install OBIEE on multi processor machine. I have used the same installer to install OBIEE on Pentium 4 machine with Windows XP and that worked fine.
Any directions will be highly appreciated.

The downloads are probably .dmg files (disk images). You would open the disk image (double-click it) to find the application or an installer. If it's the application itself, you then drag the application to your Applications folder to "install" it. If it's an installer, double-click the installer to run the installer that installs the application.
NOTE: If you iMac is Intel, it's not a PPC G5.

s long as they already have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed in it.All a person needs to do with that type of iMac is to upgrade/max out their Ram. They claim that an Interl iMac with Core 2 Duo is all that is needed, as long as it has OS 10.6.8 installed. They say you don`t need the "Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor"
But I wonder about the RAM speed, the iMac 2.33Ghz uses DDR2 SDRAM, which I believe is rated at 667Mhz. Lion maybe installed but it might be problems running smoothly or not?
Did some quick checking and the iMacs apple is selling this year use 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM.
The only thing to do is to make sure you have a good back-up, Install your RAM and install Snow Leo, then wait a couple of hours and install Lion.

If you are running 10.6.8 you can download 10.9 from the App Store and install it with going through 10.7 and 10.8 first. 10.9 Mavericks is a free download in the App Store.
10.9 Mavericks will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.

Also Mavericks doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mavericks.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

Yes. You should be fine with Snow Leopard, but Lion requires a minimum of 2 GBs of RAM. If you upgrade to Lion I would first upgrade your RAM to at least 4 GBs if your model supports it. Also, see:

A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.

B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update. While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
Restart the computer.
Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
Wait for installer to finish loading.
E. If updating:
Download and install update(s)
Use Software Update, or
Download standalone updater(s).

Hi Andy, yes it's a paid Upgrade...
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.

Lightroom 5 with a 2 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor?

I just bought and installed LR5 and it is not importing or even opening folders of images on my hard drive. I have a MacBook with a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and I see on the packaging that the software requires a Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support. I am not sure if this is the problem. I otherwise meet all the requirements.

I think you are right at the minimum specs.... but you should still be able to oprate even at a slow spped.
How are you trying to import and please don't have threads /post in different forums and with similar questions. It wastes a lot of time reading the same/similar things over and over.

Hey guys, so i download OS X Yosemite on my mac and i noticed that my computer has really slowed down. It takes a while to open applications and basically doing anything on my mac. I dont know what year this mac was released, but it currently is equipped with a 2.4 core 2 duo processor and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. I really have two questions:
did the update possibly cause the slowing down of my mac
Is there anything that i can do to solve this small problem. I would like to still keep Yosemite though. Are there any other ways i can improve the speed of this computer?

Depends on what you do with it and what you installed in the past. 4GB is pretty much the operational minimum for Yosemite. If all you do is email, surf, and basic office work, it should run Ok.
If you installed any system modifications, cleaners, optimizers, maintainers, anti-virus, etc, they may be incompatible, or just junk. That may be the cause of the slowdowns.
When it runs slow, open Activity Monitor and look at the CPU tab and Memory tab.
Sort by CPU (or memory) Descending so you can see what is using up most of the CPU/RAM.
Also, on the Memory tab, what does it say for Memory Pressure (red, yellow, green) and how much swap is used?

routers that are plugged into a 550VA CyberPower surge protector. I often receive these insufficient USB power for devices messages a dozen times even when I do not have devices like camera, Ipad, Ipod, and Tascam digital audio recorder plugged in. Is there a way to troubleshoot these USB routers or should I consider that one of the routers may be defective and replace them?
