Installing ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 Question

Hello,
I uninstalled version 10 + the tools and installed version 11.
During the installation, I got a message that I needed to run certain sql scripts located in C:\app\UserName\product\11.1.0\client_1\ASP.NET\SQL directory.
What are these scripts, what do they do and how do I run them?
Thank you.

It seems that you have installed "Oracle Providers for ASP.NET". These scripts are required if you want to use these providers. The discussion forum for these providers is here - Oracle Providers for ASP.NET

  • Problem installing ODAC for Oracle Server 11g

I have installed Oracle Server 11g (OS:Windows XP)
    Questions:
    1. I tried installing ODAC for Oracle Server 11.1.0.6.21, then its giving the following error message: "Oracle data access components can only be installed over an existing oracle server 11g".
    2. We have a Monorail application running on NHibernate using ODP.NET. It's working perfectly when I run it on my Visual Studio 2008.
But, when I tried to host this application, it gave me the following error message: "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client"
Please suggest how to resolve these issues.

    Hi
Could that be related to the %ORACLE_HOME% ?
I've read that on the ODAC installation guide:
On a machine without Visual Studio .NET 2003 installed, ODAC products now work if they are installed in a new Oracle Home
So it should be performed in a new %ORACLE_HOME% and not the same as the database. Please change that and retry.

    On your second question :
Q: I get an error: "Unable to load DLL (OraOps.dll)". How do I fix this?
A: First, ensure the OraOps.dll file is in your Oracle bin directory (e.g. d:\oracle\ora92\bin\). Next, check that your Oracle bin directory is in the Windows system path. If either of these are not present, re-install ODP.NET. Depending on the application, you may have to restart the application (e.g. Windows Service) or reboot the computer (e.g. ODP.NET install makes changes to the PATH) for ODP.NET installation to be complete. If your ODP.NET installation is still not working, you may be running into this problem.

  • How to find the installed odac version

    Hi,
How can I check if the installed ODAC on a client machine is 32 bit or 64 bit ?
    Thanks

I thought Oracle Data Access Components ( ODAC) is an Oracle product .
It is, but rather than a product ODAC is a bundle of different products such as ODP.NET, ODBC, OLEDB, etc.
As such it might be better to post the question (with some more detail regarding which specific product) in the product-specific forum rather than Oracle Database >> General Questions.

If so, you need to choose the drop down box and set it to "SYSDBA".

  • Problem when install ODAC 11g " Updating registry key "

    Hi every one,
I have O/S Windows XP with service Pack 3 , and i install Oracle DataBase 10g Release 1 , and install Microsoft Visula Studio 2005.
    The problem is :
When install ODAC 11g v.11.1.0.6.21 and the install reach ( progress ) to 60% i see a message _" The specified Home Nam e was not found in the registry "_ , with two option :
    * Stop installation of all product.
    * Stop installation of this component only.
By the way,the installation process stop when it is : Copying files for ' Oracle Services For Microsoft transaction Server '
Can any one tell me what is the problem ?
    with regards
    Naif

Well, the MTS services that is part of ODAC 11g is for Oracle DB 11g. So if you are using Oracle Database 10g, you cannot install that. Just check off the components you need to install and leave the others unchecked.

  • Can't get past OCX error when installing ODAC 11g on Windows Server 2003

I have been trying to install ODAC 11g on Windows Server 2003 and can't get past the OCX error when registering oravsdbgeng11w.dll. I've read every message on this forum even remotely related to this problem and tried every solution offered. I have done a clean install into a new Oracle home, and made sure Instant Client is always included. All service packs and automatic updates have been installed. For what it's worth I have successfully installed ODAC 11g on Windows XP Pro.
If anyone out there has been able to get this up and running and would care to share the wisdom that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Michael, as you already noticed, every time I have seen this issue it has been because ODT was being installed into an Oracle home where no client exists, or perhaps installed into an old oracle home where the client was an old version (eg Oracle10), or the client was broken. Usually though, the user unchecked the instant client checkbox during the ODAC install.
So you say you checked instant client and you still got the error? That doesn't add up...
Are you using 32-bit windows? If you are using 64 bit windows be sure to tell us.
Why don't you try avoiding using instant client at all, in case it is somehow not getting installed properly.
You can do this as follows:
    1) Under the download links on OTN, go to the database download page.
    2) Download the Oracle Database client 11g for Microsoft Windows
    3) Run this installer and Install ODP.NET 1.x and 2.x into a new Oracle home from this client install, but nothing else. If ODP.NET is not listed there (it has been a long time since I looked at that) than just install a minimal Oracle client install.
    4) Close the installer
    5) Go back and install ODAC and this time choose "Oracle Server" radio button during the install (rather than the client install)
    6) Install ODT and ODP.NET at least and be sure they are being installed into the Oracle home created in the first steps above.
This will avoid use of Instant Client and will hopefully avoid the OCX error. Let me know if this solves your problem.

  • Install ODAC (11.2.0.2.30) Entity Framework and LINQ to Entities Failed

    Hi
I am trying to install ODAC for Entity Framework & Link.
But, while installing, there showed a message *"OS error, the Oracle MTS Recovery Service can't be started"*,
and there were three choices, *"Ignore, Cancel, Retry"*.
If I choose *"Cancel"*, the installing will be stopped, and if I choose 'Retry', it will always try to restart the MTS service, but in vain.
If I choose *"Ignore"*, the setup will go on, but the MTS service can't be started as usual, and shows a message *"Function error"*.
Is there anyway to fix the problem, so I can successfully install ODAC on my pc?
Oh,BTW, I have installed the Oracle 10g and Oracle Developer 6i on my pc for other reasons, and I can't remove them.
Will it be the reason cause the ODAC installation failure?
    Environment :
    OS: Win XP Pro 32bit
    Framework : .net 4.0
    Visual Studio 2010
    Oracle 10g
    Oracle Developer 6i

I haven't seen a download link for 11.2.0.2.*+40+* yet. If that's the new beta version, it hasn't been released yet. We're still on beta 1 (11.2.0.2.30).
Trust me, a lot of people are looking forward to it. :)

    Hello Folks:
Env: WIN XP PRO SP3, 32-bit
Downloaded and installed ODAC 11.2.0.2.1 but the tnsping.exe utility is no wheres to be found - any ideas?
    Thanks!

As far as I know, the ODAC bundles have never included TNSPing.exe.
You should be able to use SQLPlus.exe to test basic client connectivity.
    Hope it helps,

  • How to install ODAC 11g 11.1.0.6.21

    Hi All,
Appologies if this question has already been answered.
I'm trying to access data from our Oracle 10g database hosted on a Windows 2003 server.
I've downloaded ODAC 11g 11.1.0.6.21.zip onto my client PC.
I've unzipped the package and ran through the installer. You have two options on what to install:
Client or Server. I installed the client. The installation was successful.
What are the next steps to being able to create a project in Visual Studio 2008 that can access Oracle data?
Do I need to copy either a sql.ora or tnslistener on my client, before I can actually access any data?
The documentation then says to run EZSETUP, but reading around I don't need to actually do this!?
Do I need to install anything on the server?
I've added a reference to Oracle.DataAccess and used an Imports statement to import the namespace. When I try create a connection and use the Open method I get an OracleException.
    Kind Regards,
    Ynyr

    What OracleException do you get?
Yes, you need to create a TNSNames.ora entry so the client knows how to connect to the database, or use the EZConnect connect string: //hostname:port/service_name .
You dont need to "install" anything on the server to run an ODP.NET app. But if you're going to use MSDTC distributed transactions you need to run oramtsadmin.sql to create the appropriate objects on the server, if you're goint to use the ASPNET membership provider, etc, you need to run those scripts on the database.

  • Clean Install of Mavericks on new SSD - Final Question

I am looking for some help installing a new SSD into my mid-2010 Macbook Pro.  I have the 15 inch with i5 and 4GB of RAM.  last week I upgraded to 8GB of RAM, purchased from Crucial, and am about to install a MX100 512GB SSD also purchased from Crucial.  I have read about the issues with third party drives in Yosemite and because of this I will keep Mavericks until I learn more.
My goal has been to get the new SSD into the computer and treat it like a brand new computer completely clean.  This I learned was considered a "Clean InstalI".  I am not very good with computers and sometimes the discussions I've read on the internet can generalize things and not define each step like a complete novice like me would need.  So I have done a lot of research and below have a step by step guide on how I intend to do a clean install of the operating system onto my new SSD.  I am looking for validation that this is correct or any steps I need to adjust.
I had asked a question about 2 months ago that lead me into the direction of doing the clean install.  Drew helped out quite a bit and got me started on researching what I need to do for this clean install.  There were some comments I had a question with.  His notes are in italics and my questions are in bold.
During install use Setup Assistant (it's basically the same as Migration Assistant).
Connect the old HD (Can I connect to my external HD that backed up my old HD via Time Machine?) & choose the option to migrate the User account (leave the applications & other data disabled). (what happens if I opt to not do this step, not migrating User account information, what would be the Pros / Cons...  another basic question I guess would be what exactly is in these User Accounts... anything that if I did not migrate over would give me issues?)
When completed you will have the same user on the new disk.
The Applications are left on the old disk, it's better to reinstall them in my opinion.
now on to by guide I compiled...
My Step by Step guide that if confirmed on here I will move forward with!   Very excited and hope I got this correct.
Create bootable MAC OS X Mavericks USB Flash Drive
App Store - Download OS X Mavericks from PurchasesDone
Now found in the Applications folder (leave right there)
Plug in USB Flash drive (minimum 8gb)
    Go to UtilitiesLaunch Disc Utility
Find USB Flash Drive on left hand side
    Format this drive
Click on Erase (tab towards top)
    Format: Mac OS Etended (Journaled)
    Name: “installMavericks”
    Click Erase button at bottom
    Launch Terminal
Copy and paste text below.  replace the red “Untitled” with the name of the USB drive (installMavericks) - case sensitive and keep the space after installMavericks
click enter - put in password
    will take approx 20-30 minutes
If message says Done I now have a USB drive with Mac OS X Mavericks right on itwhat happens if there is an issue?
    Text to put in terminal
    sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
    Upgrade HD to SSD
I have backed up my current HD on an external 1TB drive via Time MachineI plan to do a Fresh/Clean install of the Mac OS Mavericks.  I will individually bring over songs, pictures, movies, documents etc from the external HD that has the last x amount of my Time Machine Backups of current/soon to be old HD
    Open Macbook Case
loosen two screws, pull the entire strip out.  The screws do not come out, only loosen
Pull hard drive out with the clear strip of (paper?)
careful, still connected to SATA cable
once removed - use TORX screw driver to remove the 4 screws on the Hard drive and transfer them into the same spot on the SSD
connect SSD to the SATA connector
put the SSD back into its bay by lining up the 4 screws to the locations within the bay
add back the strip that had the two screws from earlier.  tighten screws
    put case back on.
Plug in USB into computer and turn on computer
Will boot to the Mac OS Utilities
go to “Disc Utility”Find SSD on the left
go to Erase Tab to repartition
    Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Name: example “new SSD”
    click erase at the bottom
    Exit out of Disc Utility
go to “Reinstall OS X”Click continue
go through the screens and menus…  (not sure what happens here)  assuming this is loading the OS Mavericks from the USB to new SSD
after this step is the installation complete?
what will be on the new SSD?
iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band, QuickTime player etcwill these need to be re-downloaded from the App store etc
Logic Pro X, Toontracks, Fluenz etc.these I need to re-download from the sites using serial keys etc.  (I have decided to just buy the new Logic Pro X so that I can do the clean install and leave my old Logic Express behind where I have lost the disc that came with it)
From here I can connect my external 1TB drive that had my previous HD backed up on it and pick and choose what songs, movies, pictures, documents etc that I want to drag onto my new SSD
    DONE !! ??
Sorry for the long post.  Wouldn't make sense not to reach out to this awesome community though.  Thanks again for all the help.  I realize I am responding to an old post so I may end up re-posting this as a new topic.

Your link makes very interesting reading. One thing that jumps out is how an old HD's installation and Time Machine are equated. Time Machine is a remarkable system, simple on the outside and complex under the hood (this is the fundamental resource on the subject, created by a Community member who is sorely missed). But it doesn't play well with certain types of files (virtual machine files for running Windows, etc., on a Mac for example) and has, in my experience at least, lost some files after briefly saving them. Your old HD, on the other hand, is both complete and current, making it a better source IMHO to migrate from.
The point about older software no longer being compatible is well taken, but I tend to keep older versions long after newer versions appear and I've been surprised at how well they continue to function after the publisher insists they're no longer supported by a newer OS (and are sometimes better than what replaces them). And in the case of commercial software, associated files are often sprinkled far and wide, perhaps to prevent easy pirating. Moreover, while keeping track of serial numbers is always a good idea, many publishers limit the number of installations and entering the S/N over again usually involves the program phoning home to check on the installation count so far. Cloning avoids that more effectively than migrating.

  • Transaction aborts after installing ODAC 12c Release 3

I have .net code that used a transaction scope which works fine using ODAC 11g Release 4, but fails with "Unable to enlist in a distributed transaction" using ODAC 12c Release 1,2, or 3.  The transaction to a single database.  I am at a loss for what could be the issue.
This issue occurs on both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
I have reviewed the trace logs for both the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Server, and the Oracle Services for Microsoft Transactions Services.  The MSDTC trace logs indicate that the transaction abort was request was received from the calling application ("RECEIVED_ABORT_REQUEST_FROM_BEGINNER").  The ORAMTS trace logs indicate an OCI error and that there was an attempt to begin a distributed transaction with out logging on ("OCI_ERROR - 2048." ,  "ORA-02048: attempt to begin distributed transaction without logging on")
I can reproduce this error with a simple code example with just tried to insert records into a table.  If I change the data provider to "System.Data.OracleClient", or uninstall 12c and install 11g this code works fine.
    DataSet1TableAdapters.DataTable1TableAdapter da = new DataSet1TableAdapters.DataTable1TableAdapter();
using (TransactionScope scope = new TransactionScope())
                    Transaction txn = Transaction.Current;
                    try
                       da.Insert(0, "This ia a title");
                        scope.Complete();
                        lblmessage.Text = "Transaction Succeeded.";
                    catch (Exception ex)
                        txn.Rollback();
                        lblmessage.Text = "Transaction Failed.";
Can anyone provide any ideas what is happening?  I really would like to use ODAC 12c.
    Thanks.

The ideal space for Archlinux should be around 10-15 gigabytes.
    2) how is the wireless support? i forget the exact model # of my network card, but it was a really common one, my has the centrino group of components and i recall having installed ubuntu and it required wayyyy too much work to figure out how to install the wireless driver and i ended up giving up. i need to have wireless access on linux, i hope 4 years later now there will be drivers for it
Wireless support is good as the kernel support. Note that if you weren't experienced enough to make ubuntu work, it is highly probable that you won't be able to make archlinux work.
    4) would i be able to transfer files over network to my windows 7 PCs?
    Yes, samba is the way.
    5) would i be able to transfer files between the two OS's on my harddrive?
    Yes, seamlessly.

  • VS 2012 does not finish starting after installing ODAC 11.2 Release 5

I installed the ODAC 11.2 Release 5 (11.2.0.3.20) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio. When VS 2012 restarts the splash page comes up with a message to wait while an operation completes but it never does. Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem may be?
Running Win 7 Pro with VS 2012 Ultimate.
    Paul

I would like to add some additional information to the above post. I am receiving the same error using the new release. The beta release worked fine. I completely uninstalled the beta and then installed the new release. Once installed, VS2012 stopped working. The splash screen comes up and then the little box stating that it is waiting for a background process to complete is displayed. That is it. From what I can tell, it is in a userwait state.
Unfortunately, when I uninstalled the component, it left some artifacts behind. When I now start VS2012, I get errors stating that Oracle ODT did not load correctly and then VS2012 stops working and exits. I am running VS2012 as administrator.
This behavior is exhibited on both Windows 8 and Windows7 Home Ultimate (both 64bit) and VS2012 ultimate.
The activity log shows what is giving the error, shows the following:

The above entry was thrown when VSDevTools had been removed from the system.
Unfortunately, I did not get any information about what exactly was causing the wait state when the Dev Tools for VS was installed. From Process Explorer, I could see that msenv.dll was chewing through cycles, waiting for multiple objects. I have stack prints for devenv.exe and msenv.exe as well as a thread screenshot if anyone is interested in seeing them.
Hopefully this will shed some light on what needs to be fixed.
    Thanks,
    Craig D.
