Installing ODI 11G to existing oracle/middleware instance

We have Oracle EPM 11.1.2 and I need to install ODI 11G. On the installation prompt it is asking me for JDK location.
Can I use the existing Oracle/Middleware/jdk160_11 that was established ruing the EPM install? Or should I do a seperate install of JDK to be used by ODI?

Config tool fails when trying to modify an existing Oracle EPM instance

I have a single server windows 2008 server environment with Foundation, prlanning, essbase , raframework, and EAL. I also have ODI installed in the same server. I was trying to add Strategic finance to the same envirnment . I downloaded the required files according to oracle install doc.
The installation was successful without any errors.
Problems started when I tried to configure it. AsI opened the config tool and chose
Modify an existing Oracle EPM instance ...
the config tool gave an error that
An unexpected error occurred and the application will have to be shut down . Review the error log , correct error condition and re-launch the application .
Kindly share your thoughts on this issue

Did you examine the configtool log to see if it has more information on why the configurator shutdown, if you not sure where to find the logs have a look at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_install_troubleshooting_11121/ch03s02s05.html

HOW TO INSTALL ODI 11g / OWB 11g IN WINDOWS SERVER 2008 R2 (64 BITS)

Hi everybody,
I have a serious problem.
Last week we buy a new server with Windows Server 2008 Std. R2 x64, for a new project. I tried to install the RDBMS Oracle 11g R2 (x64) without problems, but when i try execute the "Design Center" contents in OWB, show me the error: 0xc0000018
Then, I´m thinking in install Oracle Data Integrator to solution it, but i`ve read that neither can install on 64 bits system... This is true?
Somebdoy knows how can I install OWB 11g / ODI 11g in a Windows 2008 Server 64 bits?

OWB 11G Will have been installed with the database, it now ships with 11G.
Check you are on a supported platform for design centre using the certification matrix.

Problem While installing ODI 11g

Hi,
I have downloaded the latest version of ODI and tried to install but I am getting the following error.

Has anyone been successful installing the ODI 11g Studio on a Mac OS X (1.5)?
Metalink Note 1214428.1 says it's certified on Mac OS, but I can't run it.

Hi, I'm running ODI 11g on OS X (v 10.7).
In a nutshell, I installed ODI on a Linux server, then copied the ODI dir to my Mac.
I had to make a few changes:
1. The odi shell script had to be altered for the correct shell (first line). This file is located at odi/oracledi/client/odi/bin/odi
2. When this script is first launched, the J2SE had to be defined - I set it to /Library/Java/Home
3. ODI complained the above Java was not valid - to get around this, I added the line "SetSkipJ2SDKCheck true" to the config file located here: odi/oracledi/client/odi/bin/odi.conf
Lastly, I created an AppleScript and saved it as an application to launch ODI: do shell script "/Applications/odi/oracledi/client/odi/bin/odi > /dev/null 2>&1 &"
I've just started using today, but it seems to work well.

Installer has detected an already existing oracle XE Instance on this Syste

I am trying to install XE in my lap top , but i am getting this error..
i have uninstalled earlier version and clean the registry and services, still i am getting the same error..

its called them 'rm' command :-)
its a bit easier with Linux as you can just remove all the directories, but having the files there shouldnt stop then re-installation as long as the rpm database is clean

Odi 11G ISSUE (Jdk)

I have a problem with installation ODI 11g under Widows 7 (64 bit). I have installed jdk 64 bit version.
When I start setup.exe (run as Administrator), Oracle Universal Installer starts, but needs to specify path to JDK
"Preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer from C:\Users\*. Please wait ...
Please specify JDK location ( Ex. /home/jdk ), <location>/bin/java should exist:"
When I input a correct path, installer looks like working but suddenly installator window closes without any error.
Does anybody have the same problem?

You have installed jdk 64-bit in your windows 7 ? right
1) Make sure that, jdk160_21 or higher version should install in your windows 7 machine. later set environment variable for same jdk as follows
In you windows environment
JAVA_HOME=c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21
path=%path%;c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin;c:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_21\bin;
and refresh your desktop.
2) Download generic Weblogic 10.3.3. 64-bit
install weblogic 10.3.3
eg: java jar wls1033_generic.jar (eg: give middleware path D:\Oracle\Middleware at time of weblogic installation)
3) start installation of ODI 11g and when it will ask JDK/JRE path location provide following JDK/JRE location and press enter
"D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk1.6.0_18"

Default Data Server for Hypersonic SQL in ODI 11g

Hi All,
I installed ODI 11g 11.1.1.6.0 for Win 7 with 10g DB R2 and WLS 10.3.5 successfully without any issues.
Created DEV_ODI_REPO Repository also without any issues.
Created Master Repository snpm1 and Work Repository as snpw1.
Created the Agents (Physical and Logical) and tested successfully.
Created the data servers for respective technologies
1) Technology Oracle -
    Data Server - ORACLE_ORCL_LOCAL
    Physical Schemas - SALES_DEV & SALES_PROD and
    Logical Schema as ORACLE_ORCL_LOCAL_SALES
2) Technology FILE -
    Data Server - FILE_GENERIC
    Physical Schema - FILE_GENERIC.E:/oracle/Middleware/Oracle_ODI1/oracledi/demo/file
    Logical Schema - FILE_DEMO_SRC
3) Technology - XML
     Data Server - XML FILE
     Physical Schema - GEO_D
    Logical Schema - GEO_DIM
4) Technology - Hypersonic SQL
     Data Server - HSQL   (Is this the correct name or some other name is recommended ? )
     Physical Schema - HSQL_LOCALHOST_20001_Default and HSQL_LOCALHOST_20001_Default
    Logical Schema - HSQL_DEMO_SRC and HSQL_DEMO_TARG
All the Mappings are done properly using Development & Production context for Physical and Logical Schemas.
I am able to create the Models for Oracle, FIle and XML with successful Reverse Engineering (standard with development context )
with all the data displayed correctly.
The issue starts here
The Main issue is for Hypersonic SQL where I am not able to get the Reverse Engineering.
Technology - Hypersonic SQL I have defined the data server as HSQL
Is this correct data server or some other name for data server is suggested ?
I am able to start the startdemo.bat file successfully opening the 3 dos prompt windows as
a) Oracle DI Demo - Repository Server
b) Oracle DI Demo - Source Server
c) Oracle DI Demo - Target Server
Later I make entries on the JDBC tab od HSQL - Data Server as
JDBC Driver : org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCDriver
JDBC Url : jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://localhost
Test Connection - ok with successful connection.
Prior to this I already run the script created schemas and inserted data to the SRC_ tables in my 10g Database as
ORDERS - containing the Tables as SRC_CITY, SRC_CUSTOMER, SRC_PRODUCT, SRC_REGION.....
In the Designer I create a new Model as HSQL_SRC
Technology - Hypersonic SQL
Logical Schema - HSQL_DEMO_SRC as defined earlier in logical schema.
Reverse Engineer Tab - Selected as Standard   Context selected as Development from drop down list.
When I right click on HSQL_SRC model for reverse engineer, it executes, however it does not display any tables inserted
as shown for ORDERS Schema.
Please correct me where I am wrong in giving the name for data server ? or some other place.

Query Regarding Updation/Migration of ODI 10g To ODI 11g.

Currently I am using ODI 10g Version & Repositories ( Work & Master) have been installed on Oracle database version "Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi"
We are thinking to migrate from ODI 10g to ODI 11g Version 11.1.1.5 & i have some queries which are metioned below.
1. Can we install ODI 11g Version 11.1.1.5 version with Repositories ( Work & Master) on Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi" or do i need to upgrade my database version to 11G?.
2. If yes then, Can i upgrade or use exting Repositoires ( 10g one) for ODI 11g OR i have to create new Repositoires & move/migrate the objects of 10G repositories as mentioned in the Oracle installation doc.
3. Currently I am using OBIEE 10g for reposrting purpose & if i switch to ODI 11g , Do i need to use OBIEE 11g?
ODI gurus, I need your reponse ASAP & i have to share it on urgent basis.

ODI 11g and Weblogic Server Link

Hi All,
I am beginner to work on ODI. Currently installing ODI 11g. I wan to install ODI on my pc and my database is installed on another server.
Can we Install ODI without weblogic server to work with database using connection string?
Weblogic server is pre-requisite for ODI installation? or we can just install standalone and start it using by connecting database same like OWB.

If you want to have J2EE agent, then only you will need Weblogic server.

Yes, you can use Standalone or local agent to connect to database. Weblogic server is not mandatory. You should be good to go.

Installing ODI 11.1.1.3g

Gurus.
I have a few questions on installing ODI 11g, I have 10g installation experience could you please assist me with these questions:
1. Is there a 64 bit download version of ODI 11g that I can download and install on server 2008 EE R2 x64?
2. Can I install any ODI Studio on 11.1.1.3 on a 64 bit server
3. Do I need to use the RCU before I install ODI or I can judt connect to the the master repositories similar to the version 10.1.3.5 installation.

1.) I dont think there is a 64 bit version of ODI 11g. ODI 11 series is based on JDev which inturn is only available in a 32 bit version.
2.) ODI Studio can be installed on a 64 bit machine but you will have to install 32 bit version of Java on that machine and point ODI to that.
3.) You dont need RCU. Of course, you will need 11g compliant repositories to connect. You can install ODI Studio and then create repositories using ODI Studio.

You can install OWB 11g to be used on a pre-existing 10gR2 database, I have done that. I have also done it while an OWB 10g repository was already present.
Are you referring to an 11g database though? OWB 11g comes with (embedded in) the 11g database.
