Installing ODI on UBUNTU server

All,
Hope everyone had a blast on christmas and new years eve.
Happy New year 2012 to all of you!
I am setting up a VM on a 64 bit machine, I plan on installing a free server OS on it, and I have chosen UBUNTU 64 bit server.
I am trying to understand if there are any compatibility issues that ODI has with UBUNTU.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

  • Problem installing DBXML on Ubuntu Server

I'm trying to to install DBXML on a new Ubuntu Server. I've downloaded the 2.3.10 kit, and untar'd it intp /usr/local/dbxml-2.3.10.
The output of sh buildall.sh and the contents of config.log are below
Am I missing something in the server config??
    Thanks,
    ===================
When I try to buildall.sh, I get the following:

    Hi,
It looks to me like you do not have the required compiler installed on Ubuntu.
When using gcc/g++, Berkeley DB XML requires at least a 3.x release of gcc.

  • Install ODI on SQL server 2005

    Hi,
I got a problem to install ODI in SQL 2005 Express.
I have notebook to install SQL 2005 Express version.
When I config Master repository, I copy SQL 2000 drivers ("msbase.jar","mssqlserver.jar","msutil.jar")
during configuration, it found following error.
"The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 1 ("")"
Please help to fix the problem. Thanks
    For more information,
    I try to copy SQL 2005 driver "sqljdbc4.jar" and "sqljdbc.jar" on C:\OraHome_1\oracledi\drivers
However, I got no response when I click OK but Test connection is ok.
I try to change the driver to "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver" instead of "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver" but still got no response.

    Hi All,
I found that it is required to use SQL 2005 JDBC version 1.2.
2.0 and 1.1 is not working for repository setup.
    thanks all.

  • File datastore creation problem from window installed ODI in AIX server

    HI all,
My question is how to represent file folder name of that server
my file folder in AIX server and i want to access that file in window s machine.
    * is this the right way to represent the data folder in physical schema declaration
    file:///<aix server IP>/usr/oracledi/oracldi/data

    HI Julien,
    It's really working ..........
    Thanx a lot
For other people it will be helpfull info
Only change that I have made for that task are
    1. I have created an new agent for that AIX machine
    2. I have updated the ODIPARAM.bat
    3. I have changed record separator as UNIX while creating data store for that file
    4. While executing particular interface ,I have used the agent which is local to AIX machine ..................
    Steps for execution:
At the time of designing you must have local copy of that file so that you can perform your mapping once it's executing well wid your local or no agent .
then come to the Topology manager change the location for that folder in physical schema declaration of that file server of AIX machine.
Now execute the same wid ur AIX agent u have created earlier..............
while U have changed the data store location from local directory to other AIX directory don't try to reverse the same otherwise u'll get "Execution query failed "or file not found kinda error as because odi system system searching local systems file.................
Julien can u provide me ur mail Id so that I can contact U for further assistance ofcourse
    if u want................
    regards
    palash

  • How to install oracle on ubuntu 8.04 server amd64

i have a question. is it possible to install on Ubuntu 8.04 amd64 server any oracle server?
my purpose is to make a database with oracle on any other computer that runs on my ubuntu server.
i followed few tutorials and everytime i got this error:
    Hit http://oss.oracle.com unstable Release
W: Failed to fetch http://oss.oracle.com/debian/dists/unstable/Release Unable to find expected entry main/binary-amd64/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
    sources.list is ok i think:
    deb http://oss.oracle.com/debian unstable main non-free

First of all thanks for your help,
I tried again with ./runInstall -ignoreSysPrereqs but I got another error...
    "Starting Oracle Universal Installer...

every time I try another way to install I get another error or something...
I tried the installations with the response file but I got the same error...
"Preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer from /tmp/OraInstall2009-02-19_12-16-16PM. Please wait ...sh: /home/octopus/downloads/database/install/unzip: not found"
When I search for that file in " /home/octopus/downloads/database/install/" "unzip" is there.....
    Any ideas???

  • How to install and use DBXML package in Ubuntu Server 8.04 64bit

    Hi all.
I used to install and use DBXML in Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 32bit. Now I want to use on Ubuntu Server 8.04 64bit.
This is code for my installation (I use DBXML 2.2.13)
    env CFLAGS="-O0" sh buildall.sh enable-java with-xerces="xerces-c-src" with-berkeleydb-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.3" with-xerces-prefix="/usr/local" with-pathan-prefix="/usr/local" with-xquery-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.XQuery.1.2" --with-dbxml-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDBXML.2.2"
After installing, I could open Container, get Document, but when print the result (by "print" command), it failed. (stdin:3: print failed, Error: nsUnmarshalNode overlap File: Nsutil.cpp Line: 2358). Of course, all above commands run successfully with Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 32bit.
Can you tell me which differences between 2 OS version and how to fix it
    Thanks

    Hello,
Make sure that you are building a 64-bit version for the 64-bit platform. It's possible that you have mismatched some libraries. Be sure to add "-b 64" to buildall.sh. When you are done run the "file" command on all of the libraries in <path-to-install>/lib to see if they have been built 64-bit.
That error looks like a 32- vs 64-bit issue of some sort.

  • To run and work on AIX server installed ODI

    Hi all,
As I was working on ODI till the date in window o/s of my desktop.
But now I have to work on AIX server I need to know
    * Is there any difference to work on ODI while I am using AIX
    plz provide me necessary information..
    * Will working methodology of Desiner and Topology manager be same in AIX
    * is it console based or I'll have the same UI I've not worked on AIX before
*Any other info, if you tech people have regarding basic differences between
Window installed ODI and AIX installed ODI then plz provide me.
    thanx and regards
    Palash Chatterjee

    Hello,
There should be no difference in behavior.
    - All Graphical UIs are in Java and work the same on AIX.
    - The installer works also on AIX.
    - The only differences will be that instead of having .bat script files, you'll have .sh (unix shell) files to start the components, and that you cannot use windows services.
Just give it a try, and you'll see.

  • Installing ODI 11 on a single server Hyperion 11.1.2.1 environment

We have a single server Dev EPM (Hyp 11.1.2.1) environment (HP, HPCM, HFM, FDM), which is working over all fine. We now would like to use ODI for data and metadata loads. Our plan is to install ODI 11.1.1.6 on the same server where we have the above full EPM stack installed/Configured already. I did a quick study online before attempting ODI, below are the challenges I am facing.
    1. I believe ODI requires Weblogic, hence tried to extend or create a new weblogic domain with the already exsiting weblogic installation of EPM. However weblogic create/extend domain screen does not have ODI in the list of "supported products"?
    2. Do I need to install a fresh copy of weblogic to be able to install ODI or can I use the existing weblogic installation?
Kindly share your thoughts and experiences in this regard.

    959658, Thanks for your comments.
I tried it and it throws the below error/message
INST-07247: Specified Middleware home location is either not valid or missing
enter a valid Middleware home location
I get this error only if I choose to install J2EE Components. I read some docs and understand that J2EE components are primarily used for HA and clustering, apart from this is there anything other major functionality that J2EE components provide? Just want to see what is it that we will miss if we choose to go without J2EE for now given it is a Dev environment.
When you say you were able to proceed with existing installation of weblogic, did you extend or create a weblogic domain to support ODI? cause it looks like the existing EPM weblogic domain does not support ODI.

I want it to work under the ext4 file system.

You can test it out in a VM (free, VirtualBox) and OS X has had boot support for Ext2/3 in there. You could run Ubuntu on its own hard drive.
Don't know Ubuntu server, tried the client, and played around with SuSE 10.
