Installing OES 11 on SLES 11 SP2

We originally setup a GroupWise 2012 server on SLES 11 SP2 server without OES 11, thinking we would be able to use SAMBA as our File server later. Our computer consultant convinced us to go the OES route so we now have a SLES11 SP1 / OES 11 server and a SLES 11 SP2 / GroupWise 2012 server.
How hard is it to install OES 11 on the SLES 11 SP2 server with GroupWise 2012?
What steps would I need to take to get this done?
Thanks,
Ken

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that would be what was needing to be done from reading how OES and SLES work together.
Thanks again,
Ken

Success is more likely if the SLES install has not been patched which
considering SLES11 SP2 has been out for a while (and now superseded by
SLES11 SP3) would seem unlikely.

  • Problem installing Win XP Pro SP2 on 2008 Mac Pro running 10.6.8

Okay, I have never setup or ran a bootcamp partition so I apologize in advance for my ignorance on the subject. I have been attempting to install win xp pro (SP2). I am using the Boot Camp Assistant  v3.0.4. I have created a 32GB FAT32 partition and at the point I click Continue Installation (with the XP Pro disc in the drive) the computer reboots to supposedly install.
What happens instead is I get a revolving censorship/ban circle icon, folder with question mark and apple logo. It just continuously will flash between those 3 icons until I restart.
    Here's what I've tried...
-removing all other drives. I'm attempting to install on the boot drive which is in bay 1.
-removed all external devices only things plugged in are my usb keyboard and DVI monitor
    -deleting and recreating the partition
-I have the xp pro cd in the top drive and the snow leopard cd in the bottom drive (both internal cd/dvd drives)
    Computer:

      Total Number Of Cores:          8
L2 Cache (per processor):          8 MB
      Memory:          10 GB
      Bus Speed:          1.33 GHz
      Boot ROM Version:          MP21.007F.B06
      SMC Version (system):          1.15f3
No matter what I try I am met with the same results. I have held down the option key and manually selected the windows xp cd. It seems to be booting but immediately turns off my DVI monitor which, well, makes it impossible for me to actually know what is happening. I do have a nvidia GeForce 8800 which only has two DVI ports off the back. I do have the adapter and an old VGA monitor I could pull out of the attic but would rather not unless that is my only option. Can someone in the community please point me in the right direction?
    Many, many, many thanks!
    Curtis
    OKC, OK

Update: my problem was solved by getting my VGA monitor out of the attic. Once windows was done and I ran the setup.exe off the Snow Leopard CD, all of the drivers were updated to allow me to switch back over to my apple cinema display.
Also, I did need to hold down the option key to select the windows CD to install...and again to select the windows partition to boot but so far everything is going well with Bootcamp 3.0.4 and XP SP2...other than it is windows.

  • Error installing BOBJ 3.1 SP2 on AIX

    Hi,
Has anyone tried installing BOE 3.1 SP2 on AIX successfully?
    I get an error..

I checked the pkg directory and can't find the file jdk00000.tar.gz... is there something missing from the file sets?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I stand corrected... the jdk00000.tar.gz file is there, but the error still occurs.

  • Installing EP 6.0 SP2

We are trying to install EP 6.0 SP2 in a sandbox area.  We are installing on a Windows 2000 server and using SQL 2000.  We are new to this and are fumbling thru the installation process.  Question I have is when running the SAPinst gui tool do you have to run the database scripts first to create the database, tables and users?  Also were are getting this error FSL-02040.  Can someonw help us?

Normally if it's a fresh Portal install you should follow the EP6SP2_WIN_DBSchemas_v2_final.pdf document.  Hope that's the latest document.    I have never run the .sql scripts separately unless your applying a new patch and then you execute the dbpatch_mssql file.
You can call the db names anything you want, believe your limited to 3 characters.  We used something close to the sid name.
At what point are you in the installation process?  Did the contractor create an install document for you?

  • Is there a SCOM install agent for SLES on PPC64?

Is there a SCOM install agent for SLES on PPC64?
Trying to install an agent for SCOM on Suse VM units that are hosted on IBM's power 7 hardware.
While i do see .ppc AIX agent installers I do not see one for SLES on ppc64.
Has anyone installed SCOM on SLES ppc64 or know of a viable agent for the install?

To elaborate a bit, Microsoft definitely does not offer an agent for SLES on PowerPC.  Linux has been ported to a lot of different processor chip architectures, which is great.  But Intel x86/x64 is by far the most popular, and it's the only
chip architecture for which Microsoft supplies an agent for monitoring Linux.  As you noted, there is an agent for AIX on PowerPC, but AIX is a very different operating system from Linux, and the agent for AIX on PPC will not work on Linux on PowerPC.
I don't see Microsoft doing an agent for Linux on PowerPC.  We would need to see a significant business opportunity for that to change.
I would note that the source code for the OpsMgr agent for Linux/UNIX is available at
http://scx.codeplex.com, along with instructions on how to compile and build the agent.  Someone with developer skills in C++, compilers, makefiles, etc. could definitely build an agent for SLES on PowerPC.  For
example, I'm aware of someone who has built an agent for Linux running on the IBM S/390 (z-Series) chip architecture running as a guest under zOS and has it working with SC 2012 OpsMgr.   But you would be on your own,
perhaps with help from the community, to make that happen.

  • Installed Sharepoint 2010 Server SP2 Update; PSConfig succeeds but CA still shows "Upgrade Available"

I have installed SharePoint 2010 Server SP2.  Central Administration shows the configuration database is at 14.0.7015.1000.  I had to run PSConfig several times before it completed successfully due to missing features, setup files, etc.  But
I got those cleaned up and finally got PSConfig to complete.
However, when I go to Farm Information it still shows "Upgrade Available" for the single WFE server we have.
When I run stsadm.exe -o localupgradestatus it shows me the following:
    [2] content database(s) encountered.
[0] content database(s) still need upgrade or cannot be upgraded.
[23] site collection(s) are contained in the content databases.
[0] site collection(s) still need upgrade.
[53] other objects encountered, [12] of them still need upgrade or cannot be upgraded.
The 12 objects that cannot be upgraded are ancillary databases like:
    StateService_[GUID]
    Secure_Store_Service_DB_[GUID]
    PerformancePoint Service Application_[GUID]
They all show "Cannot Upgrade" for the status.
Am I correct in thinking these are what's keeping the status at Upgrade Available?  And if so how can I resolve?
If not, what else can be done to change that Upgrade Available status?
My goal is to get SP2 and the latest CU applied before trying to reinstall the User Profile Service.
    Thank you.

  • HT4759 getting hresult: 0x80070091 error when installing iCloud on vista sp2 pc

getting hresult: 0x80070091 error when installing iCloud on vista sp2 pc

There is a very long way which is removing anything related to Apple including stuff in the registry.
The short way is as follows. It worked for me.
I have seen that in the forum EXCEPT the registry trick which is missing and does the different.
    1. Remove the Apple account from Outlook.  In my case a me.com account.
    2. Disconnect the connection to ICloud in the control panel of version 3.1.
REBOOT and open Outlook to see that all traces of the email account and of ICloud are gone.
    3. Uninstall ICloud 3.1. I used REVO Uninstaller in Safe way mode. It removed some stuff in the registry from what I see; but not sure.
    4. Delete as much stuff as possible in the C \Program Files (x86) \Common Files \ Apple
and C\Program Files\Common Files \Apple.  My computer is 64 bits.
    5. Go to the registry by typing regedit.exe or simply type regedit in the Start Box. Search for ICloud.  I deleted TWO entries related to ICloud. Otherwise, you will still see the ICloud control panel despite the fact that you removed 3.1.
    6. then I was able to install ICloud 4 immediately.  Upon restarting it asked me my email and password and added itseft to Outlook like it was before. Be aware that you address book in Outlook could be deleted, so do an export before.

Why are you installing NetWare on this hardware? It is a desktop PC not
a server and released after general support for NetWare 6.5 has ended.
If this is for testing I would try installing VMware ESXi on the PC and
then virtualising NetWare as a guest.

  • NetStorage server without eDirectory installed on Linux OES2-SP2

    Hello Forums
I was wondering if NetStorage can be working on a Single
SLES10-SP3/OES2-SP2, server without actually having eDirectory on the
server itself but pointing the NetStorage configuration to any server
holding a R/W replica of eDirectory, by this making the NetStorage
easier to move to e.g. DMZ, e.t.c, or just making it a simpler setup for
    the NetStorage.
I have tried this with 2 servers, one server with eDir installed and one
where only NetStorage is "ticked" under the OES Install and Configuration.
I can get as far as getting the login page up byt aint able to authenticate.
for the Certificate i took the pem file from the server i points to and
    place in the /etc/ssl/servercerts/xxx.pem
Well i think i read sometime this was possible without eDirectory
actually on the NetStroage server, could be i'm Wrong.
Any ideas on this would be great.
    Thanks
    - Michael

Any OES2 server HAS to have eDirectory on it (that I'm aware of to function properly). However, you may be asking the question in the wrong way. Not sure how you'd login to iManager on the OES2 server to manage NetStorage if the eDir database isn't on there.
You MAY be wanting to know if the OES2 server needs an eDirectory REPLICA on it (there's a big difference).
If that's what you REALLY are asking, then the answer is:
No, you do not need an eDir replica on the server that runs NetStorage. In fact, you could even put the NetStorage server into its own tree if you had to (it's a little more complex to setup at that point, but it CAN be done).
    I hope this helps.

  • Installing OES 11 SP3 into Existing OES 11 SP1 tree

It been a while since I personally have installed a server into an existing Edir tree, never done it on Linux/OES. Can someone give a quick checklist I can follow that will aid me installing the new OES 11 SP3 into our existing EDir tree?
I am reading the OES 11 Documentation and it seems to me there should be some more server / tree health checking done before installing. I cant remember the command to check tree health right now either.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ken

Thanks for the reply. For some reason I remember more checks having to be done. But it has been several years and it was on Netware.
    Thanks for the information,
    Ken

The documentation should have everything you need. If you want to check
health further there are TIDs to do an eDirectory health check, but the
only thing I ever bother doing outside of looking things over briefly in
iMonitor (agent summary, obituary report, check the replica-ring for
non-green stuff) and time checking (be sure time is in syhnc, which is an
OS issue) is perhaps install a new test server into its own tree from
which I can import schema into the new tree. It is not required, but it's
one less thing to have fail during the real server install into the
    existing tree.
    Good luck.

  • OES versus SLES

    Greetings,
I am experiencing an issue with ZLM 6.6.1 and OES. I have added the OES Linux target per the TID and can view the oes-linux-i586 target in Target Platforms. I have used rcmirror to pull the OES channel data down from https://update.novell.com/data and this is all working fine.
The issue occurs when OES servers performed with a minimal install activate against ZLM. They are listed as a sles-9-i586 target instead of oes-linux-586. These OES servers have had the oes-release file installed, and are able to subscribe to the oes channel from https://update.novell.com/data. Why are they not presented as oes-linux-586? Should I delete the sles-9-i586 target platform?
An additional question; If I have pulled the redcarpet2 and zenworks66 channels from https://web-bos-ma-us.rc.ximian.com/ will a target platform of oes-linux-586 be able to subscribe to these?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Performing the minimal installation makes the server a SLES server and
will have it show up as a SLES server. You should not delete the
sles-9-i586 platform. The system can get the oes channel because it passes
    the test---having the /etc/novell-release file.

If the channel conditions are met, the systems should be able to subscribe
    to them.

I tried and tried to install the Windows XP Pro SP2, but it just doesn't work.  I don't use the RAID with the WD 80GB SATA HD.
When the installation CD finished loading the required system files and "Starting the windows" in the blue screen, after than the system just hang there.  Anyone who met this problem before?  How to solve it?

The memory module that I am using now is Kingston PC3200 1GB DDR, I can't find the power supply details.
I just updated the newest BIOS to it and I don't configure the board to do any overclocking.
Just now I tried to configure any possible settings in the BIOS to make the system works, and I unplug the adapter for the mouse to use the USB port.
    Guess what?  It worked...
I hope it will keep working in the future, otherwise I don't know what I can do...

  • BootCamp 2.1 won't install - 64-bit XP SP2

When I try and run the BCUpdate.exe file that I downloaded (2.1) I get a message:
"BootCamp only works with SP2 or later". Thing is, SP2 is definitely installed (I have a slipstreamed install).
Everything works OK, except no internet connection, so I thought it might be a driver issue, hence the BC 2.1 install. I tried Network Diagnostics in XP. The BC version on my Leopard disk wouldn't work either.
Does anyone know what's up, or have a direct download link to the ethernet / networking drivers for a Mac Pro?
    TIA,

I never have trouble with 'net connections. All wired and my modem and router are new enough and supported.
I do have 64-bit Boot Camp 2.0 that I got off a Mac Pro 2008, but even without that (and before BC was dreamed of). Also, Intel (and now MS) have the latest Intel LAN drivers which improve (reduce latency) connections.
Maybe today I can take another stab (and another stack of DVD coasters) at the CD ROM fix. If you have older Vista DVD around, I managed to install W7 from inside Vista. I've never tried booting from flash memory but that would avoid wasting DVD coasters - my one attempt and booting to OPTION screen didn't work (I haven't booted OS X in ages, nine months ago?).
I kept re-reading the steps and "instructions" and the writers sometimes list the way their mind worked through it, but not how to follow - and I feel like I don't fully understand parts of it.
One of the instructions for running oscdimg involves command line and some flags and options, but I don't know if there is a man page for those options, or what the flags are doing. I have to know why as much as how.
