Installing of Photoshop 5.0.2. update failed

Hello!
I tried to install the update of Photoshop 5.0 (i.e. 5.0.2.) but the installing via setup.exe did not work even if I disabled the virus program... help would be appreciated very much!

Hello!
Thanks for your reply! No, we are talking about Photoshop 5.0 (the very basic version, it's called 5.0. LE), NOT CS 5.0... did I mix it up? I think the following link is meant for Photoshop 5.0
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=205
I have downloded and saved the file,
and then clicked on SETUP.EXE then an error appears:
it says "C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\s32EVNT1.DLL. The initialisation of DLL for an installable virtual driver failed."
What should I do now?
Also, is it possible to buy an upgrade for 5.0.? I used to work with CS3 a bit some years ago, and I really MISS the history funktion where all the single steps can be seen & deleted if neccessary. Now I only can press "UNDO" for one time, that's it... if I made 2 mistakes, I can only undo 1 mistake
THANKS

Any error message? What OS are you running. Just double-checking this is Photoshop CS 5 we are talking about not Photoshop 5.0 correct?

  • Photoshop installed but not recongnized by Computer, updates fail

    Hello,
I had installed CS6 Photoshop on my Windows 7 PC.  Something happened where I see all the files and reference to Photoshop on the hard drive in the program files but I do not see an app icon to open the program.  I also do not see the program listed in Control Panel so I can unistall it.
The Adobe App Manager seems to also recongnize it as installed.  It offers me updates.  When I update I get the following error message "U44M1P7 Error log file location C:\program files (x86)\ Common files\ Adobe installers
What do I need to do to fix this?  If the app manager says it is installed but my computer will not recognize it to uninstall it what is my recourse?
    Thanks.
    Shannon

    Hi Shannon,
You might try downloading and installing the Photoshop CS6 trial.

    Thannks.
    Dominique.

I FINALLY found a solution to this.  No thanks to Adobe... I am guessing their Creative Cloud Updater packages for Windows are corrupted.
Go here and download the offline installer package manually (Adobe Photoshop 2014.2.1 Update for CC 2014 (64-bit)) : All Adobe CC 2014 Updates: The Direct Download Links for Windows | ProDesignTools
You should be able to run this on any affected machine and have it update correctly.  Let me know if this works for you as well!

  • Silent install of Photoshop Elements 10 via SCCM fails

Hi all, hoping someone can help. I'm trying to push out deployment of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 via SCCM. From Adobe's site I found details on adding an XML file to preconfigure various default settings and perform a silent install.  I can push out
the package to my test PC's cache folder no problem, but the advertisement fails with "Failed (bad environment)" message ID 10003. The system cannot find the file specified."
However, I can install the program manually, running the same code from the command line. So, on my test PC, if I go to c:\windows\system32\cache\(package) from the command line, I can type the following "start /wait Setup.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx"
(as per Adobe's instructions) and Photoshop Elements 10 will silently install just fine.
I've read elsewhere that SCCM can have issues with server paths and making use of the %~dp0 variable but I'm unsure if that applies here. In SCCM, in the program properties for PE10, the drive mode is set to "Runs with UNC name." I tried changing to 'requires
drive letter" but it still failed. I'm guessing I'm dealing with some sort of environment issue but I'm stuck as to how to fix. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sir_Timbit

I used "start /wait" as that was what was listed on Adobe's silent install instructions at http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-elements-1.html
Again, it installs fine manually, *if* I point a command prompt to c:\windows\system32\ccm\cache\(cache folder)\ and run the start /wait setup.exe line below. But through SCCM, the advertisement report shows:
    Message ID:10003. Failed (bad environment)
An error occurred while preparing to run the program for advertisement "ABC20074" ("ABC00041" - "Install Photoshop Elements 10"). The operating system reported error -2147024894: The system cannot find the file specified. Additional program properties: Command

drive letter connection to a distribution point could not be established, or when the program is configured to use the SMS Software Installation Account but the account is not specified, could not be found, or does not have the appropriate permissions. Solution:
Check each of the items listed above.
Execmgr.log on the client shows the following:

  • Photoshop 11.0.1 Update Failed to Install

I am on a MacBook Pro using 10.4. 11. I have tried several times to install this new update (yes I'm a registered user) either through Photoshop Help/Update or through the direct links to Adobe and they keep failing to install.

  • Photoshop 12.0.2 update failed

There is no error message it simply says:
    Install Failed.
I am running SL Mac OS X.6.5
    have enough RAM.
I have restarted. I have nothing running.
I have enough storage and have the 12.0.1 update already.
    Thoughts?

Sadly, Jacob, in my YEARS of experience with Adobe it is rare when you don't get bad support. The CS (customer support) and the TS (technical support) are terribly lacking in actual help and they are often arrogant in their assumptions of what the I am doing and should be doing even though many times they know less about MAC OS and Adobe tools than I. I have found their help extremely unhelpful most of the times. I tend to rely on the forums and just figuring it out on my own because CS in particular is awful. Sorry, to have to say this. But I have been using Adobe since Photoshop 1 and have never found Adobe CS to be a good tool. I, too, found the app that was supposed to help locate the problem problematic. It wasn't helpful in the least. It told me their wasn't a problem then when I tried to close it told me there was. Backwards.
As for the serial issue—on Adobe's behalf—you wouldn't believe the stupid things that thieves will do to try to get things to work. That doesn't excuse the fragmentation of Adobe's systems that can't recognize you and your account. It is poor programming and places a big ? over the whole operation. So much for usability.
Anyway, I sent on my files to Jeanne as well. I hope you don't have Illustrator to upgrade because if you have used the great adobe tool HTML5 extension look forward to more acrobat—ics. It would be easier if Adobe would create proper apps for the Mac and allow them to install in one content package—I know they are smart enough to.
Jeanne, rant aside thank you for your prompt response and I hope you show the both of us a better side of Adobe. I know there are a few good ones in there.

  • Can't install Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 update

I installed Photoshop 7 in a customer's computer and when I am trying to install the 7.0.1 update I get a message that it cannot find the installation folder, even though it is there and the program sees it. I read that this might be an issue of the license being blacklisted, but the one I am using is a legally bought one, even though this was some time ago, that should not be a problem. Please help me on how to get this working.

    1. Delete all the files in your <user name>/temp folder where <user name> is the user (you) attempting to update.  so, that might be guest or admin or something else.
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp
Local Settings is normally hidden, so make sure to show your hidden folders.
    2. Run the Photoshop updater again

  • Install Adobe Photoshop CS6 after Creative Cloud failed...

When I start my Adobe Photoshop, I alwasy get asked to reactivate my abonnement even if I bought a CS6 Version with a Serialnumber... This product is registrated in my Adobe Acount. What can I do to use my Adobe Photoshop with my serialkey instead with Creative Cloud.... (I used the Removal Tool from Adobe to remove my Creative Cloud Applications bevor I installed the CS6 Adobe Photoshop without Creative Cloud..)

Claudias31518194 what specific error do you receive them you open Photoshop CS6?  Did you previously evaluate the Creative Cloud version of Photoshop?  If so I would recommend removing all installed Adobe Creative software titles and reinstalling the versions you plan to continue using.
Without doing so you may still have upgraded components installed which could lead to unexpected results similar to the repeated request to activate.  You can find details regarding the uninstall process at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
If you need a fresh copy of the retail installation files for Creative Suite 6 they are available at Download CS6 products.

  • Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 updates fail

I have subscibed to Creative Cloud and the uodater tells me I have updates to apply to Photoshop and Illustrator CS6. I would like to have these updates as there is no guarantee I shall be able to afford the CC subscription forever. However every time I apply them they fail with error U44M1P7. According to the Adobe help document I need to download the standalone installers; I did this with Illustrator and it failed in exactly the same way. For Photoshop it says apply the update from within Photoshop, but I cannot even do that now as the program crashes on launch.

Run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, let the application manager reinstall, try again.

  • Photoshop cs4 11.0.2 update fails windows 7 64 bit

    Hello..
I finally got upgraded to windows 7 64 bit and and installed the cs4 download I got awhile back and it installed cs4 11.0 no problems. I got every update to install but the 11.0.2 update fails and I get this message
    "Adobe Setup has stopped working"
I have tried every thing I read, run as admin, move stuff out of appdat folder, reinstall.... reboot 39 times , I have no windowd defender or AV running at all everything I can find on here does not work and I get this error..... I read everyone gets this error except a darn few lucky souls..... so I tried compatibilty modes, it does the same error from win 98 all the way to win 7, xp same error vista same error it don't matter what version of windows this update seems to just stop working, so I did a troubleshooter on it and it determined that this program is incompatible with windows... I tried downloading it from Adobe and tried that... same error everytime.... don't matter if its through adobe updater or direct download this update fails and I decided to try 11.0.1 and it does the same so I guess PS CS4 11.0 is really not updatable to 11.0.2. and adobe suggests you to go cs5 to solve this problem. Except their updates fail to it looks like on this forum....
This is the problem details I get if it helps, because it does not leave a log for some reason.

I have tried run as admin, same error pops up, I tried giving myself ownership and special permissions and everything to the PS folder since the exe is read only thinking thats why it wont update... I ran the clean script and reinstalled and tried every trick known to man ( well this forum and several others found on google) and nothing seems to work, the 11.0.2 update itself crashes, so I am just going to assume its windows fault because it does seem to work for other people....but it does seem to crash on mac I have read too... I have UAC disabled and no AV installed trying this so I installed my trend micro AV and checked and the puter is virus free so am not sure why I can not use the update but here is the screen shots I get....
I run setup.exe as admin I get this
then when I click on next, with 2 seconds I get this popping up, count 1,2 bam their it is..
so no matter what I do I get this error on 11.0.1 or 11.0.2 updates in every mode or permissions you can give...

  • Photoshop Elements 12.1 upgrade fails

Photoshop Elements 12.1 update fails with U44M1P2003 error. Tried shutting down antivirus and firewall. Also looked at registry entries suggested with three of the four missing and the fourth was correct path.

    99jon:
Doing another uninstall/re install and disabling Avast and Windows firewall allowed the Elements 12.1 update to install. After the PSE 12. re-install I could not initialize PSE12 properly. I would start the editor from the initial drop down menu and the PSE editor would start and briefly flash on the screen then disappear. Organizer works fine but attempting to launch the editor from organizer also results in the editor initial screen flashing briefly then disappearing. I downloaded and installed the 12.1 update from the organizer and it appears to work except for launching the editor. . This is at least the 3rd re-install and don't understand why the 12.1 update worked this time but appreciate the suggestion. The 12.1 update issue is resolved but the product is still not functional.
