    Hi,
During the Windows Vista SP1 installation, this issue occurs when a third-party application holds open a file or locks a file that the Service Pack installation program
has to use. For example, a third-party antivirus or antispyware application may cause this problem. If you are running any third-party applications such as Spyblocker, Internet or web accelerators (programs designed to boost the speed of the Internet connection),
security or anti-virus programs (McAfee, Norton, etc.), I recommend temporarily disabling or shutting them down during the troubleshooting process. Please be sure to re-enable them once the process has completed.
I recommend running Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool. System resources, such as file data, registry data, and even in-memory data, can develop
inconsistencies during the lifetime of the operating system. These inconsistencies can be caused by various hardware failures or software issues. In some cases, these inconsistencies can affect the Windows servicing store, and they can cause software updates
not to work. We can run Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool to resolve these inconsistencies. When Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool detects incorrect manifests, files, or registry data, it might replace the
incorrect data with a corrected version. Please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Run Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool
    1. Please download and run Reset Windows Update Tool from the link below:
    http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
    2. Please download and run System Update Readiness Tool from the link below according to the System Type:
System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista 32-bit

    3. Restart the computer and install Windows Vista SP1. Let’s reinstall
SP1 standalone installer in Clean Boot.
For your reference, I have attached these steps as below:
Step 1: Download Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Standalone Installer
    ====================================================
    1. Download Windows Vista SP1 from the link below according to the System Type:
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista 32-bit (Size: 544.3MB)
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f559842a-9c9b-4579-b64a-09146a0ba746&DisplayLang=en
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista 64-bit (Size: 873.0MB)
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=86d267bd-dfcd-47cf-aa76-dc0626dcdf10&DisplayLang=en
    2. Please save it on the Desktop.
Step 2: Install Windows Vista SP1 in Clean Boot Mode
    =========================================
Please disable all startup items and third party services when booting to avoid conflict when installing
    Vista SP1.:
    1. Click "Start", type: MSCONFIG in the search box and press Enter.
Note: Please click "Continue" if the "User Account Control" window pops up.
    2. Click "Services", check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
    3. Click "Startup", click "Disable All", click "OK" and restart the computer.
Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't affect the system or other programs. We can manually run these programs later.
    4. Please double click the downloaded Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Standalone Installer and follow the instructions to install Windows
    Vista SP1.
To restore the computer to use a Normal Startup, repeat step 1 above. Then click "Normal Startup" on the General tab, click "OK", and then restart the computer.
Please take your time with the steps and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If there are any questions or concerns, please post here for further
    research.

  • Install Oracle 9i on Windows Vista Home Premium

I have a problem Installing Oracle 9i on Windows Vista Home Premium, I cant install it because it throws me an error message saying that is incompatible with my version of Windows. It is possible to install it with some patch or something??

The only patch I know of is called Windows XP.
In case you have not done any internet searches on this, even Oracle Database 10g was not compatible with Vista until Oracle applied some heavy patches and re-released it.
And since Oracle9i is officially deprecated (nearest thing to obsolete as to make no difference) I see no reason for Oracle to backport the patches.

  • Install error #1620 PrPro Windows Vista Home Premium

Install error 1620  when attempting to install CS4 "This installation package could not be opened"  (for each component of the software package).   Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, Intel i7 processor.   Unable to install any components of PrPro.  This is after a clean install of Vista Home Premium (part number x12-24171-01)with discs provided by microsoft.

I would never install a new OS over the top of what is there... wipe/format the hard drive and install fresh
Also, if you have a 64bit computer with more than 4Gig of ram, think about the 64bit version of Win7
CS4 can't use more than about 3Gig of ram, but if the OS can use more to run better... that is what I would do
Just be aware that you should still run CS4 in WinXP compatibility mode, as I posted before
Also read the article below... I have NOT done this, but it seems to be an easy process

  • I can't synchronize my iPod's with my iTunes software (Windows Vista Home Premium) due to problems with the access authorization / rights for this operation

    Hi there,
I'd like to ask you something:
I'm trying to synchronize all my iPod's (I have as many as 4 iPods: 2 iPod touch a 8 GB each and 2 iPod classic a 160 GB each) with my iTunes software (Version 11.3.1 which is installed on a Windows PC (Windows Vista Home Premium)). Unfortunately, the iTunes software refuses to run the command "synchronize with the iPod connected" regarding each and every iPod I have. iTunes just declares:
Synchronizing is impossible because I wouldn't hold the access authorization / rights for this operation.
I uploaded the songs at issue to my iTunes folder from CD's (all songs are in AAC format now).
What is this access authorization, why was something like that invented and what can I do to get it?
How do I have to proceed in detail?
    What would it cost?
I am brand new here and have never ever made a post in any support community anywhere in the world in my life. Well, and I am not excessively knowledgeable about the particular computer or mac language but I know the very basics or can find out about them.
Anyways - can you help me please?
If you can't help me, who can do so?
It would be nice if you could answer me as soon as possible!
    Thank you guys
    Prying Pedro

Yes, others have experienced the problem, a simple search of the forums would have revealed that and the simple solution.
Termporarily disable any security software on the computer.

  • Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit - Not syncing media

I'm migrating myself from an HP laptop that will sync my Centro contact/addresses/media etc.  The HP runs XP Pro.  I'm moving to a Sony which runs  Windows Vista Home.  And I am able to sync most everything but the media.  None of my pictures/video or any media will transfer from my phone to my laptop.  I've read about currupt media and since it transfers to my HP, I'm thinking I'm good.  I currently have my /media/ to overwrite from my phone to my pc.  I'm wondering what I am missing.

  • Installing itunes 10 on windows vista home premium

I know this may have been covered here but i need to know how to change the permissions on the admin account on my computer so i can install system services like bonjour. Ive tried to install itunes 10 multiple times and it keeps coming up with "the service failed to start. verify you have sufficient priveleges to install system services." I thought i did being logged in on as admin....
btw im not tech head so explanations keep them simple!
this is giving me so much headache!!! i just want to upgrade the itunes it shouldnt be this hard..

Ive tried to install itunes 10 multiple times and it keeps coming up with "the service failed to start. verify you have sufficient priveleges to install system services."
We can sometimes get past that one by disabling the BonJour Service prior to an iTunes install.
In your Start Menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services & Applications"
Open "Services". Maximise the window to better see what's going on.
Right-click on the BonJour Service and select "Properties".
In the "General" Tab, change the Startup type to "Disabled" and click OK.
    Restart the PC (very important).
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through any better this time?

  • Windows Vista Home premium does not boot up properly

My vista laptop worked fine for two weeks then started having many problems.
Programs stopped working and the windows problems report and solutions kept popping up I think I have over 40 issues unsolved.
Then if I haven??t been on the laptop for a while I start getting the blue screen of death, and won??t boot up for 20 mins because it is running thought a restart every time because of the blue screen. I have formatted the computer a few times and still have the same effect after a while.
I think that this could be a software issue more then a hardware problem but I don??t want to go back to windows XP.
I can?t install the service pack 1, when I try and install it says there is an internal error.
I don't know how to solve my boot up problems any ideas ?
Because it is wasting alot of time, I don't know if i should return my laptop
    thanks

    Hi mate,
such issues - especially a BSOD - are not very good signs of an healthy system/machine. Did you recently installed some new applications or something else??
If NOT I would suppose some hardware failure (memory, mainboard), because such problems appearing out of the nowhere are most likely hardware based and not really software dependant..
If you really formatted your HDD several times and nothing was solved after re-installation of the system, then contact an [Service Center|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] send the machine to them and let them check your machine on hardware malfunctions. • Installation of oracle 10gR2 on Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS

can we install oracle 10gR2 on Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS ???
While doing sqlplus from command prompt,
    it's giving error like
'SP2-1503 Unable to initialise Oracle Call interface'
'SP2-0152 Oracle may not be functioning Properly'
How to troubleshoot the above errors,
    Has anybody tried it ???
    Plz assist.

No Oracle product is certified against any Windows Home OS.
As Vista was released after Oracle 10gR2, 10gR2 is not certified against any edition of Vista.
You need to downgrade to XP, or install Linux.

  • Shockwave 11 vs. Windows Vista Home Premium

I have Windows Vista Home Premium and just installed
shockwave 11-it says that it successfully installed, but when I
attempt to play any type of game, I get no where. I have tried to
do the manual installation offline, but still the same thing
happens when going back and trying to play a game again. I have
done the updates for Windows-as this is a new computer and I did
them the minute I got it out of the box. Any thoughts or
suggestions, other than burning my copy of Vista and going back to
    ol' faithful XP?

I had the same problem with Vista. I tried
uninstalling from the control panel and then reinstalling but still
the problem persisted. I then uninstalled using the uninstaller on
the Shockwave player website and reinstalled. It now works fine. It
is worth a try if you haven't already done this.

    Hi Abdallah,
According to your description, could you please post the summary and detail logs for further analysis? By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Usually, the error occurs when the Windows Installer Service is not running or the Windows Installer registry settings are corrupted.  I recommend you reset the Windows Installer Service settings in the registry and restart the Windows Installer Service,
then reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2. For more details, please review this similar
    article.
    Thanks,
