Installing old CS4 Photoshop on new PC

I have CS4 Photoshop installed on an old PC. I want to install it on a new PC that I have bought and thought that I had been successful, but it seems that I was on the trial version. Do I have to deactivate the software on my old PC before I can use it on my new one? Any answers would be very much appreciated

You should de-activate, but if it is a standard commerical version of CS4 Photoshop you have two activations available.

Run the cleaner tool and reinstall with sufficient user privileges and security stuff turned off. Your install went wrong because you didn't consider this.

  • Installing old Jam Packs on new MacBook Pro

Hi. I recently migrated all my Garageband projects to a new i5 MacBook Pro. The Jampack software instruments have disappeared (and the Jampack manuals are covered with a no-entry type sign and a notice that says "Power PC software no longer supported"). I can see I still have my old Garageband loops, though.
    1. Is there any way to reinstall the software instruments from my old JamPack disks? My tracks really miss some of them.
    2. If so, will this mean I get additional copies of every loop? (Should I delete all the Jampack stuff from this Mac and just start reloading? Where are the loops stored on my Mac?)
    Thanks for your help!!

    1. I would try reinstalling the Jam Packs from the original disks. There are some incompatibilities and strangeness with the Jam Packs (which are no longer sold / supported), so it's a little hit or miss. However, I've been able to install jam packs on a new mac and, outside from strange error messages, have now been able to install them OK.
    2. I'm not sure, but I'd try moving the loops to another folder, then toss after a successful reinstall. To find the loops, go to your Disk -> Library and look in the application support folder (then GB) as well as the Audio (then Apple Loops) folder.
    3. Finally, if things get completely buggered, you could always fully delete GB and all of its bits and pieces, then reinstall GB and the Jam Packs from scratch.

  • Installing old version - photoshop 6.0

I have photoshop 6.0 installed on my home PC (still works great for my purposes, so have not found a compelling reason to upgrade) and I've been trying to install it on my new laptop, with no luck.  The PC runs on XP and the laptop, Vista.  I have the original installation disc, which is supposed to be compatible with both XP and Vista.
The laptop is reading the disc and I get a prompt to install the program (setup.exe).  Then I'm promted to verify that I want to install it..  but after clicking to verify "yes", the prompt dissappears and there's nothing else.  I've tried several times and can't get any further than the second prompt - no signs of anything that resembles setting up files, etc....  My first guess was that Adobe integrated some sort of protective measure so that the program can only be installed on one computer, but I checked the licensing agreement and I should be able to install it on a second computer, too.
I called Adobe tech support and they don't even support 6.0 anymore.  They said all I could do was go to the forum for help.... SO, will some kind soul please jump in and help me out ??!!!  (A large part of the reason I got the laptop was so I work on graphics away from home, so I'm bummed...)
    Thanks!

You can give this a try. Not sure if it will work as buko said it is old software running on Vista.
When you put in the CD and it starts close it. Don't install it.
Then go to my computer and D drive (that should be where your CD/DVD drive is).
You want to right click on it and select explore.
Look for the .exe file (that will start the install) and right click on that. Choose compatibility tab. Click in the box Run this program in the compatibility mode for: Windows XP service pack 2.
    Check disable visual themes.
Check run this program as administrator. Hit apply/ok and close that window.
    Ensure windows defender is off.
Go to start, type in services. click on services. Look for Windows installer. Under start up type it will say manual. Right click on manual and choose properties then Automatic and hit apply. Then you need to start the service. Hit ok then close out.
Go back to your CD/DVD drive and click on the .exe file and try to install the software.
This sometimes works with older software and sometimes it don't. Good chance it won't but worth a try and even if it does install the software may not work well in Vista.
    good luck!!

  • Is there any other option to install old apps on a new phone then restoring?

    Hello there,
I need to get my old apps from my 3g (which I have backuped manually) in to my new 4s.
I tried to restore the Phone but since I did not synced the apps they were gone after the session.
Everyone talks about restoring the phone from an iTunes backup but that did not work as I described.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Shahin

I did something stupid. I forgot, that the iPhones “home” is another system partition . So when I start my old 10.6 the apps are there and I'm able to install them. I'm doing it right now.
    Sorry for bothering
P.S. Now I'm in that club

  • Installing 2nd cs4 license on new computer now

I purchased CS4 premium in 2010 and now want to install the 2nd license on a new computer. How do I do this (I never had hard discs. I originally just downloaded the programs from the internet at the time of purchase)?

You can download via the link(s) below.  You will need your serial number... if you did not keep a record of it but registered the software with Adobe, you might be able to find it recorded in your Adobe account online.
    CS4 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs4-product-downloads.html
You can also download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • Should I install old software in my new Mac Pro, then upgrade?

I'm trying to transfer documents and apps from my PowerBook G4 to my new Mac Pro. I used Migration Assistant but it transferred only some files, no applications, no settings, even though I checked all those boxes. I've given up on MA. But here's the question: I have Office 2004, which I'd like to install so I can have Word on my Mac Pro, and then I would upgrade after installation. I've heard that pre-intel software can really slow down your intel computer. But what about starting with that software and then upgrading, so I don't have to pay for an entirely new MS Office? Same with Final Cut Studio. Any ideas about this would be appreciated!

MS Office 2008 is an upgrade, not an update. It does not replace Office 2004. It is a separate installation. It is like upgrading from Tiger to Leopard except 2008 does not replace 2004 as Leopard replaces Tiger. You purchase the entire 2008 installation like purchasing the Leopard upgrade, but can have 2004 and 2008 running on the same machine without partitioning. I have both installed on my iMac.

As far as I know, there is no discounted upgrade price from Office 2004 to 2008. I could not find it on their website anyway. I think to get Office 2008 you need to buy the Office 2008 installation disk.
I think (might be just me) Office 2004 running in Rosetta is slightly faster than the 2008 version. All the applications in 2004 launch faster. In Excel 2008, entries into cells are delayed by a fraction of a second but 2004 has instantaneous entry (perhaps MS in their infinite wisdom thinks the delay is a feature).
I am gradually changing over to 2008 only because it needs to be compatible with other computers in my office. If it weren’t for that, I would have stayed with Office 2004. Anyway, if you are going to buy Office 2008, you can install it and run it side by side with 2004 to see for yourself.
I’ve also seen posts here about MS Office 2008 having problems with the Spaces application of Leopard. If you use the Office Toolbox (formatting palette) it has bizarre behavior when using Spaces.

at this point yes, you should uninstall everything migrated, clean and then reinstall properly using the installation files.
