Installing Old iPod to New PC

Hello,
How do I copy all my music from my old iPod onto my new PC? (Unfortunately, I don't have access to my old PC, which crashed.)

I hope you take this as an opportunity to learn a very important lesson: Back up your iTunes library as soon as you can after resolving this situation because right now you are only one glitch of your iPod away from losing your music entirely.
Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in just such situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
If you place any importance on your playlists and the data they depend on, you will want to include your iTunes Library files in your back-up regimen as well.

Are you sure? I restored my new iPod from the backup of my iPad and all app data was restored to the new iPod.. App data is part of the backup.

All your media should be in iTunes so you can sync using iTunes to get the music over. If you have any purchases from the iTunes Store you may transfer them to your iTunes library.

Yes. You'll want to copy all the content from the older iPod back to your new iTunes library first. Once you have successfully copied and stored all of this content in your new iTunes library, you can set it up to sync to your new Nano.

I was given a new ipod nano for christmas which I have registered but I can not work out how to transfer the library from my old nano to my new nano. I have a new laptop which doesnt have all the original files on so wonder if it is even possible? Any help is really appreciated

you just have to install this software, connect your old ipod, copy all the files inside your old ipod to your laptop and after that put them inside the new one!

Save all the photos from your Droid into a folder on your computer.
Connect your device to your computer. On iTunes left Pane, select iPhone under 'Devices'; then on the right Pane, select PHOTO tab. Make sure Sync Photo box is checked, and "from" box selected the folder that has Droid's photos. Then click the SYNC or APPLY button on the lower right window.

I have an issue on my old ipod with the sound coming through headphones...after troubleshooting found something is wrong with my old ipod (from like 2006) and i just bought a brand new one and want to be able to move my songs from my old ipod to my new one in windows platform environment. If your music was ripped from CDs, you will need to re-rip it to your iTunes library on your new computer. But if you bought your music from iTunes, they are still in iCloud, and you can redownload them at no cost. Sign in to the iTunes Store on your computer, then click on "Purchased" on the list on the right hand side. You'll see everything you have ever bought from iTunes in there, and anything that's not currently on your computer will have a little cloud with a downward pointing arrow in it. Click on the cloud symbol next to whatever you want to download, and it will download to your computer. Plug in your iPod and synch it, and you're done. Hope this helps!

The songs from the old iPod will have to be moved to iTunes, then transferred from there to the new iPod.
Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
SharePod is also freeware.

For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.

If you copied photos to your iPod using the full resolution option, enable disk use, open your iPod in "my computer", open the photos folder then open the "full resolution" folder and drag the photos out of that folder to your desktop. For enabling disk use look here.

If you only copied the photos as thumbnails, you can't do this so you'll need a program such as this one.

Photos as thumbnails won't be of the original quality when copied back to your computer.

Hi, hope somebody can help me..
I had an old ipod with an old laptop, both are gone, now I have an itouch with some music from old ipod, which it was downloaded it from old pc itunes library'.
now with the authorized itunes library, am very limited in my usage of itunes. the old music that it was in old ipod that i have in my itouch it can not be manage in itunes library, i cannot create playlists and burn them to a cd, even with recently purchased itunes, cannot really sync cause it will erased my old music from previous library... please help!:)
