Installing old program on new system

I want to install my PSE 7 software on my new laptop. I own the CD, but my new laptop does not have a CD drive. Is there a way for me to get a download code as an owner of the software? Or is there another way to get the program onto my laptop (without buying a new version)?

There are no download sites but you can copy the files to a USB drive on a computer which does have an optical drive.  Once the files are copied you can insert the USB drive into the new computer and install from there.  You may also want to consider getting an external optical drive in case you face this same difficulty in the future.

Check to see if your computer is using a DVD-Rom (or DVD-RW, DVD+RW, etc ) drive.  You may only have a CD(RW) drive which will not read a DVD.
If you do not have one you can buy an external DVD drive at Bestbuy:

I dont see that being the issue. The OP just bought the computer so its 99% assured its got a DVD drive.

  • Help Installing Old CS2 Onto New Hard Drive

    Please Help!!!
5 years ago I bought my iMac G5 and Adobe Photoshop CS2.  Just last week my hard drive "died" and I had to get a new one.  I found and pulled out my old Photoshop CS2 disc and tried to install.
When I entered the serial number, installation said that this was an upgrade serial number and I had to provide the previous version's serial number.  I don't remember there ever being a previous version.  We bought everything new: the computer, CS2, and a couple other programs.  I don't know why it says the CS2 serial number I have is for an Upgrade Version.
When I called customer support, they said they no longer offer support on CS2, and I'd have to upgrade.  But, I don't necessarily want to upgrade.  I'm just fine using my outdated software for my little tinkering around with photos.  I don't want to spend $199 on the CS5 upgrade.
All I want is to install the program that I paid for.  I don't want to pay for another program or update or anything.
Does anyone know why this is happening, or have an suggestions for how to fix it.  I just want my Photoshop back!
    Thanks!!

It would be helpful to provide information on the Mac model involved. Exactly which model Mac do you have? Also what OS X installer version you have. Keep in mind that the optical drive you have installed may not be a bootable drive.

  • Another question about running old programs on new macs

I'm a little confused and was wondering if someone can help me out.
From what I've read I cannot find any options for me to run an old programs for OS with my intel-based MacBook. Just in case I've tried downloading a bunch of different things (OS 9.2.2 which won't run, sheepshaver which I can't figure out how to use even it it might work). IS there anything that I can do?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    1. Buy an older PowerPC Mac used or refurbished as my FAQ* explains how to do:
    http://www.macmaps.com/usedrefurbished.html
    2. Contact the developer of the said software and ask a Mac OS X version be published of their software.
    3. Politely ask Apple develop a virtualization program through AppleCare's Customer Relations department, http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/ and if you want a free developer account go to http://bugreporter.apple.com/ and submit it as an enhancement request.
    4. Tell us what software you want to run that you found is 9 only, and maybe we can tell you an alternative that can open the same documents, play the same style game that is Mac OS X native, or will run under Windows or Linux on your Mac?

  • How to load OS and old programs onto new SSD?

So I've learned by late-2008 MBP can handle up to 8gb RAM, and a solid-state drive. This is exciting, as the computer has gone a bit buggy over the years, with new OS upgrades since I got it, it now boots slower, needs frequent restarts, &c.
So I will put the new 4 gb RAM sticks and the new SSD in myself, and load up Yosemite onto the new SSD…But…
    1. How does one load an Apple OS onto a blank hard drive, these days? and,
    2. Does anyone know a relatively painless way to recover my still-OK old software, without going out and buying it again, or without re-buying versions on eBay? For example, I use Logic 9.1.8, which is a totally fine program---I don't want to pay for a newer version---I downloaded it originally from the Apple store---but they don't seem to keep any record of purchases older than 18 months.
I don't want to just load an old Time Machine image, would like a fresh start.
So, two issues---wondering if anyone might have some notions here---

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
         5. If you are planning to sell or give your computer away, then do the following:
After you reformat your hard drive and reinstall OS X, the computer restarts to a
Welcome screen and asks you to choose a country or region. If you want to leave
the Mac in an out-of-box state, don't continue with the setup of your system. Instead,
press Command-Q to shut down the Mac. When the new owner turns on the Mac,
the Setup Assistant will guide them through the setup process.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. Download Yosemite, unless you have the Mountain Lion installer handy, and install it.
As for your old software you can install it from original media, if you have it. You can re-download software purchased on the App Store. But as for old versions running with Yosemite, see App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

  • Installing old VIs in newer LabVIEW folder: how to avoid conversion warnings?

We are offering a set of VIs to our users. We build our own installer which installs them into the LabVIEW program folder under vi.lib. A menu file is installed in the menus tor which collects the VIs in a palette.
For providing compatibility with LV 8.2 and up the VIs are in v8.2 format. When they are installed in a higher LV version and a LV program that contains some of the VIs is closed, LV issues the warning that the VIs have been recompiled and converted from an older format. How can we install the VIs so that LV ignores the format version?

    smercurio_fc wrote:
I did not mean to imply that setting the read-only flag would fix your problem. Only that it would prevent the file from being saved, if that's what you were intending to be done. You cannot change the behavior, as it is by design. You can deal with it by compiling the VIs when you install the software, as has been mentioned. Or, you can distribute pre-compiled versions in the LabVIEW versions of your choice.
You mean it is definitely not possible to have VIs in one, relatively old LabVIEW format and install them for newer LabVIEW versions without getting this (completely useless) warning? This is hard to believe. How do other companies distribute their LabVIEW programming interfaces? Do they really maintain a VI versions for every LV version (and possible sub-version) just to guarantee a good user experience?
Since the recompiled changes are dumped anyway, I would expect a VI or library flag I could set or a special way of installing the VIs that tells LabVIEW: ignore the changes when the VI is closed.
Recompiling everything during installation is not what we want since it would make the installation process too complicated, in which our LabVIEW API is just a small part. If nothing else works I would rather install the VIs writable so the user could just hit "save all" when he closes his program and get rid of the warnings, but this is not optimal.

  • Cannot Install any OS on new system - Blue Screens whenever I tyr

    Hello mon Compadres,
I have recently bought a new KT4AV mobo, an AthlonXP 2600+ and 512MB of 333mhz DDR memory to go in it, to upgrade my computer. I took this oppertunity to re-install my installation of WIndows XP Pro, and so reformatted my Harddrive and then popped all the new stuff in my case. I now find that I cannot get Windows to install on the Harddrive again.
The system will POST fine, it recognises the memory and the CPU speeds properly, and all the drive seems fine. It will enter the XP install program from the CD and the partitiion and format the drive fine. But then, invariably, at some stage in the install it will blue screen and force me to reset the computer. The error message most often come during the "Copying Installation Files" section, but very rarely waits until the next section of the installation - after the setup program has reset the comp so as to boot from the harddrive instead of CD - and then gives a similar blue screen error.
The error is 9 times out of 10 of the type "IRQL LESS THAN OR EQUAL"  which means nothing to me. I have all the IRQ set to auto in the bios. Sometime it is a different message but on these occasions never the same one twice. I have tryed almost every BIOS setting there is (except the frequency + voltage which I don't want to risk). I have also tried to change every combination of hardware, IDE cables, jumper settings, and have tried a different CD-ROM in the system.
I have also tried to get Linux on the system too (Mandrake 9.2) but that gets about 3 minutes into the install and then locks up with a black screen forcing me to hit the reset button.
Thanks fro reading this utterly long post. If anybody has any advice on how to fix this problem I will be forever in your debt.
    My Thanks.

Curiously, the problem seems to have subsided now I have unplugged the Floppy Disc drive. I can't imagine why the Floppy Disc drive would cause such errors but there you go.
Even more curiously, the system works fine now exept for when I put a strain on the harddrive it cause the computer to restart. It has happen a few times now, a few times when I was copying data from one HD to another, and another time when I was doing a virus scan of my computer.
I have turned to automatic rebooting on system errors (from the System Control Panel) off, so will post any blue screen messages if I get any more.
Thanks for the advice about PSUs too guys. I shall probably get a beefier one when I get my next paycheck.

  • Installing CCMS on a new system. System entry not found in RZ20CEN aftr reg

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to install CCMS for our systems. I have made all the configurations as per the "Monitoring Setup Guide
(CEN SAP Net Weaver7.0 SPS 13)" document and refered all the help.sap.com doc's for configuring ccms.
I have registered the system with the CEN and I see the entry for my system in CEN in RZ21. but in RZ20 on CEN I donot see the entry for my system.
Do I need to add this manually in RZ20? Or did I miss something. If some one has come  accross this plz help.

    Hi Kunal,
That was very helpful. I awarded you the points.
I had just done that when I received your reply.I refered to to the  thread

Now, I have added the system to the new monitor set.

  • Time machine deletes old backups with new system drive

So I decided it was time to get a larger system drive. After I finished migrating to the new drive, I plugged in my Time Machine backup drive, and now it's deleting all my old backups! What gives? Shouldn't Time Machine keep doing incremental backups the way it always has? Nothing has changed except the drive -- the files are still the same. I had backups going back to 2011, so it's a bit unsettling to see this happen.

    Digijohn wrote:

On Snow Leopard, that's what usually happens.
On Lion and later, depending on exactly how you put your data back, it usually doesn't -- TM changes the backups so they look like they were made from the new drive. And there's a way to do that manually.
But on Snow Leopard, there's nothing you can do.  Note that you can still see and restore from the remaining old backups, via the procedure in #E3 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

  • Install old program version with pacman

    Hi,
I'm new to Arch, but not to Linux. (2 years Kubuntu, a bit of Debian and Gentoo)
I would like to use kaffeine 0.8.5, because in 0.8.6 somehow the option for changing the record format is missing.
My question is if I can install kaffeine 0.8.5 using pacman, and then use the IgnorePkg option in pacman.conf.
I know that I could download 0.8.5 from the homepage, but I would prefer pacman if it is possible.
    Greeting, yodo

Thank you, I found an old kaffeine version here: http://ftp.parrswood.manchester.sch.uk/ … a/os/i686/
    Looks like this now:
    johannes@omega:~$ sudo pacman -Syu
    :: Synchronisiere Paketdatenbanken...
    core ist aktuell
    extra ist aktuell
    community ist aktuell
    kdemod ist aktuell
    :: Starte komplette Systemaktualisierung...
    Warnung: kaffeine: Ignoriere Paket-Aktualisierung (0.8.5-1 => 0.8.6-1)
    Lokale Datenbank ist aktuell
    johannes@omega:~$
It's german but I think you can guess what it means...
Is there no way to use this page as an repository and to isntall older versions by typing something like: "pacman -S oldpackages/kaffeine" ?
If I don't find a x.pkg.tar.gz file in the future, how do I create one for myself out of source?
Using "./configure", "make" and "make install" just installs, but you have to keep the directory for uninstalling. It is better to create a pkg.tar.gz, isn't it?
That would be similar to debs and Kubuntu... (it is better to use checkinstall there to create a deb, not "make install")
Using makepkg after "./configure" and "make" does not work, the PKGBUILD file is missing.

  • Installing Old iPod to New PC

    Hello,
How do I copy all my music from my old iPod onto my new PC? (Unfortunately, I don't have access to my old PC, which crashed.)
    Thanks
    HP Media Center   Windows XP

I hope you take this as an opportunity to learn a very important lesson: Back up your iTunes library as soon as you can after resolving this situation because right now you are only one glitch of your iPod away from losing your music entirely.
Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in just such situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
If you place any importance on your playlists and the data they depend on, you will want to include your iTunes Library files in your back-up regimen as well.
Anyways, that's the lecture. The answer to your problem should be found in this post:

  • How to open old website on new system

Have loaded 10.8 from 10.6 and trying to access and transfer an old iweb 08 folder and site to the new iweb. don't know how to import or where to put. Once I get it there - any advice about an ftp client?

In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Installing old preferences on new laptop

    Hi,
I'm formatting my hard drive as I'm having some problems with start up times and I want to know how I can take the settings/add-ons for Firefox, Thunderbird, iTunes, the Mac System Preferences, etc. from my current Mac with me.
I know there's a folder titled "Preferences" in the user's library, but will that take everything over? I'd also like to take add-ons and Firefox about:config changes. I intend to avoid taking any unnecessary items with me as that's part of the reason I'm having this clean up, so I don't want to just use the Migration Assistant.
Could someone please advise me how to do this.
    Thanks a lot.

    1. Yes
    2. FireFox: user>Library>Application Support take the Firefox folder.
