Installing Older Software Help
Hi,
I have a set of Photoshop filters that worked fine with OSX 10.4.x. I just went to install them on my newer iMac with Leopard and the default opener is QUicktime which recognizes it as a movie, of which it's not and says, sorry not a movie.....
It's a .sit which as i recall was the compressed files opened with Stuffit and I don't find that either...maybe I can download that...
Anyway please help I need these filters.

Unable to install ANY software- help!
I'm not sure when this started, but I am not able to install ANY software anymore. My system met the requirements for any software I've tried to install recently- any ideas why it's not working?
I go through the installing sequence... choose the drive, enter my password, accept the terms etc etc (maybe it's not in that order) and the progress bar reaches the end and I receive a message along the lines of "an error occured during installation please try again"Try this:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Oh, and it would help if you could be specific about what software you cannot install. -
have a g5 [used no system discs]will be the new work horse in the shop.We wiped the drive,installed Panther10.3. Need to install illustrator, p-shop and indesign. G5 is asking to install classic before it'll install the software, tried loading our OS9.1 but it errors out. Our production software is all on disc and upgrade discs,how can I get our apps onto the new system.
Thanks in advanceG5s cannot boot directly into OS 9. Although OS X can run OS 9 applications via Classic, you cannot boot OS 9. Instead you must install a special version of OS 9 that was included with the Software Restore discs that originally came with the computer. Without them you cannot install a version of OS 9 that will work with Classic.
Note that some OS 9 installers will not run via Classic. Perhaps it's time you consider upgrading to OS X versions of your OS 9 software. -
Installing older software,Illustrator CS3 and Indesign CS5, on new laptop
I've had to abandon my desktop as it was beyond repair and have tried to install Illustrator CS3 and Indesign CS5 (cds) on my laptop. I get a message saying that there was a problem with licensing. I own the software and can't find anyone to speak to at Adobe. What is the next step?

After installing the new software to my iPhone 4S , my dream zoo either will not start or when it does it has a blank screen that has a few icons on it that wont work. How can I fix this is it possible to go back and reinstall the older software ?
Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

I got new hard driver for my MacBook I don't have the cd but I do have flash drive that has the software I need help because when I turn on my laptop it shows me a file with question mark how can I install the software from the flash driver?
Hold down the Option key while you boot your Mac. Then, it should show you a selection of devices. Click your flash drive and it will boot from that.

Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server. this is the message that i get a few days now that i am trying to install windows through boot camp to my macbook!does anybody knows what i can do????
You keep it on the usb stick for after you boot into Windows. From Windows you install the Windows Support software on the stick. Do you realize that you need to buy and install Windows? The Windows Support software you downloaded is only the Windows drivers for your hardware.

i used my wifi to download ios 8 after like 5 hours it finished and then it let me install, while installing the software it shutdown and everytime i try to open it it shows up the itunes and the usp cable logo... when i plug in the usp cable it says in itunes( ipad recovery mode) and when i press restore it start downloading the ios software again...... wats tht and what i can do pls help. thnx
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary. -
Can I partition an external drive and install 10.6.8 so I can run some older software?
I have older software that won't run on my 21.5 iMac. Can I partition a 3TB Lacie external drive, then install 10.6.8 on it so I can use the older software?
The computer that I purchased did come with Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac, but I thought that was only for running some Windows software. Not a clue how to use it.
I actually asked a similar question about installing the older system on the external drive when I talked to Apple yesterday. They guy said go ahead and try it! Huh? -
I had a 'dead' iMac repaired and it needed a new HDD and graphics card, the repairer installed OSX 10.6.8 and i now need to install other software but I am being asked for 'User' password so I may do this, I have no idea what this will be. can anybody help please?

In installation process of Acrobat Professional 7 , its showing that Adobe Pdf printer is not Installed...need help to install the software completely
If it is Win 7 or later, the Adobe PDF printer for AA 7 will not install and AcroTray will not function. You will have to install a PS driver from Adobe or maybe an HP color PS printer driver. Then edit the driver properties and change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to FILE. You will always have to do an extra step in creating PDFs by opening the file that is created in Distiller to get the PDF.
If you are talking about Win 8, you may not be successful at all. If you got Acrobat and Distiller to install, then there is a chance. -

After the install completed I tried running the software, and I got a message telling me I can't run this version with my operating system. Does anyone know why I can't run the aperture software, and why I was allowed to install it without some notification.

I erase my mac book pro to factory setting and cannot re-install the software. I received a message saying my Apple ID has not yet used with the App store. Please review your account information. Could anyone help please. I need to re-install my os.
Use Internet Recovery. You shouldn't need an AppleID. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
Internet Recovery will install the OS that shipped with the Mac. You can then upgrade to Mavericks if that was not it.
Do you have an App Store account? Did you ever use it to install the OS?
