Installing older software,Illustrator CS3 and Indesign CS5, on new laptop
I've had to abandon my desktop as it was beyond repair and have tried to install Illustrator CS3 and Indesign CS5 (cds) on my laptop. I get a message saying that there was a problem with licensing. I own the software and can't find anyone to speak to at Adobe. What is the next step?

Indesign CS4 and Indesign CS5 on new imac TOGETHER!

I am purchasing a brand new imac (27in., quad core i5) which comes with the Apple Snow Leopard OS.
I am also purchasing the CS5 master collection.
A company that I freelance for is still using CS4 and wants me to create print layouts for them with indesign CS4 (they don't trust the .inx route).
Will I be able to run the entire CS5 master collection AND just indesign CS4 on my new imac?
Are there any issues or difficulties that I should be aware of?
Thanks!!!Yes, you will be able to, but make sure you install CS4 first, get that going how you want it, (i.e. at least make sure it's working!) and then install CS5. If you ever have to uninstall and reinstall CS4 you're in for a bit of fun unfortunately, the only clean way to do it would be to uninstall the whole Master collection first... Having said that heaps of people do exactly what you're describing with no problems.
On thing to be aware of is that once you have installed CS5 all your CS4 Indesign files will automatically open in CS5 not CS4. You will not be warned about this until you have worked on it (Murphys law states that this will be for a long time) and go to save, upon which it will ask you for a new save location. The icons are slightly different so you could rely on that to alert you, and just use File > Open from CS4 or drag the files into CS4, or you could look at Soxy, which is a far more elegant solution, but IMHO is still not perfect, although apparently it's better on a Mac than on Windows. -

Generally this should work, but of course there may be occasional compatibility issues across the different programs and their different versions.

I installed indesign CS5 on new macbook pro and keeps freezing with spinning wheel once the app opens. Is there an issue with OS Mav or font issue or a plist I can pull. All other Adobe products work.
Migration should never be done with any Adobe program.
If you have done Migration, you have to UNINSTALL first (if even possible) and then download Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and run that also. When this is done, restart your computer and install the programs from an original Adobe Installer.
Other question is, if your OS is supporting that version. You can try it, it is not officially supported, but it might work.
But CC will work, upgrade to CC2014 (without additional cost), use that as it is better anyway. -

Be aware CS6 Applications ARE NOT the most recent applications.
CS6 applications are older and are missing features found in the RENTAL software (CC). Paying for CS6 applications, means you are NOT paying for current features available in the RENTAL applications.
I urge you to compare feature sets and not assume that CS6 applications contain CC features. -
Illustrator CS3 and CS4 crashes on two different Mac Pro systems
We have two Mac pro systems. Both are running 10.5.6. As of this morning both systems crash when trying to save files from Illustrator CS3 and CS4.
I'm not sure if this started with a corrupted file, and when we tried to work with it on both machines it effected both.
Does anyone have an idea?Do use TimeMachine for data;
SuperDuper for imaging the system;
Clone the system at least twice: known good backup image and for testing.
Clone or image can be just a sparse image created with Disk Utility.
I would also keep user accounts separate from the system and on 2nd drive.
Rather than reinstall, use alternate systems. You may even need to do what others have learned to, one system for specific task or configuration.
Use different user accounts.
Don't rule out plist or preference settings or corruption.
Normally I use Disk Warrior to keep a system maintained but TechTool Pro (5.01) will do more to check files for integrity and errors, and useful addition.
If I was building a sytem today, I'd probably use 10K WD VelociRaptor or two for system, some scratch drives in stripped RAID for editing and saving work, and then media drive(s). With 3 backup sets of work.
Apple now sells OS X 10.5.6 on DVD, replacing the 10.5.4 (and 10.5.0, shame there is no upgrade program) so they must feel 10.5.6 is gold. Not all software and hardware though does, but Sonnet just posted updates for their SATA Tempo card drivers. When it comes to production, newest and latest is not usually best. -
Illustrator, PS and InDesign "...stopped working"
I'm a new subscriber to Adobe CC and have just installed Illustrator, PS and InDesign on my PC (Windows 8.1), however I can't get any of the applications to work. I get the same message each time when opening the programs "Adobe CC Illustrator/PS/InDesign...stopped working" and I'm prompted to close down the application. I have tried finding threads similar to my problem, but none I've seen so far seem to offer a difinitive solution. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please rename OOBE to OOBEE.OLD Folder from the following location
location in Window C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
location in Mac: library>.application support>>Adobe>> OOBE
After renaming the OOBE folder please uninstall Adobe creative cloud from the cleaner tool and re-installed the product from from www.creative.adobe.com/apps
PS: Please uninstall Creative cloud connection if you see in Cleaner tool.
As the above discusson also mentions renamimg, Please disable the firewall of the system & network & then retry.

Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign are continually crashing
I am having real issues when using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Linking files continually crashes the software, can anyone help please it's driving me nuts!

It is always recommended here to open/save from/to own hard disk, and to copy from/to networks and removable media. You may be lucky, at least for a while, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Frequent crashes in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign CS6
Installed CS6 Design Standard on Windows 7 64 bit PCs. We get frequent crashes in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Specifically for InDesign it says it was due to an unhandled exception (exception code c0000005) and APPFRAMEWORK.rpln. The PCs are Dell Optiplex 7010 with 16 gigs of ram. Is this a common problem in Win 7 and CS6? What can be done to fix this?
It's not a "common problem" and your info suggests that this is not at all related to Adobe at all. It's some driver crashing. Find the exact system info and crash details:

I have been using Indesign CS3 for generating automated reports. These reports are large in numbers. Limitation with Indesign CS3 is it only allows single instance of the application. And hence I am forced to generate these reports in sequence using multiple servers. Indesign CS5 server on the other hand seems to allow multiple instances running at the same time. This would mean I can generate multiple reports at the same time. This will reduce time to generate these reports and also limit the number of servers. This is the reason I want to migrate from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server. However, I am not sure if I can get direct upgrade from Indesign CS3 to Indesign CS5 server or I have to buy new license for Indesign CS5 server. Do you have any idea on this, please suggest. I installed latest software updates today and now iphoto won't work at all - heeelllppp!

i installed latest software updates today and since then iphoto will not work at all. The window oens but it remains blank, and when I go to force quit it says iphoto not responding, so it's as if it's crashing on startup. I can't access my photo library or put new photos in the library from my camera, in fact I can't do anything at all with it.
I am in Africa a long way from home and tech support, so please can anyone help me?? Im a bit desperate as my whole photo library is inaccessible, and it will be months before I am back in the UK.
I am not hugeley techie so plain English please.

Illustrator CS3 and Autocad DWG layers
When I open a DWG file in Illustrator CS2, the "Open" dialog box has a check box to "merge layers." If I don't check the box, the DWG file opens with layers intact. I don't see that option when I open the same DWG file in Illustrator CS3 and the file opens with layers flattened. Is this option located somewhere else?
I'm in the same boat as everyone here. Kind of stunned that they would take this option away. Its not really a very workable solution for me unless I can keep the layer structure. Actually worse than the layer structure, is that closed plines become individual line segments so you can't just define a fill color.
I know there are a few plugins for CS2, but they don't show support for CS3 yet. Has anyone heard from any of the plugin creators, or from Adobe, about plans to address this. Here are the plugins I found.

I remember when Adobe switched form PageMaker to InDesign that they made a stand alone application (included with InDesign) to convert from one format to the other). If they don't fix Illustrator, even this kind of approach would be fine for me (but still not as good as from within the application).
So what are the work arounds.
- OK, I guess the best is to keep CS2 around, but we have people in the office who bought CS3 as a full purchae, vs. upgrade, so they don't have that option.
- Well fixing the layers while time consuming could be done (but not good option). If autocad file is setup color by layer, with each layer having unique color, you could use select by color and then drag to new layer.
- Don't know a work around to re-close the segments. Going segment by segment ot join on a site plans with tons of islands and curbs, would not be fun at all. -
i used my wifi to download ios 8 after like 5 hours it finished and then it let me install, while installing the software it shutdown and everytime i try to open it it shows up the itunes and the usp cable logo... when i plug in the usp cable it says in itunes( ipad recovery mode) and when i press restore it start downloading the ios software again...... wats tht and what i can do pls help. thnx
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.
