  • Installing OLEDB Provider 8.1.7.2 on Oracle 8i DB 8.1.6.0

After I install 8.1.7.2 OLEDB Provider on a previously installed Oracle 8i DB with ver 8.1.6.0 (without 8.1.6.0 OLEDB Provider), I am unable to start the database. I am able to start the listener. However, I am getting an error message saying that Oracle is not able to find orannms8.dll on my PC.
Did anyone install 8.1.7.2 or 8.1.7.3 OLEDB Provider on previously installed 8.1.6.0 DB?
    Any help is really appreciated.

    Hi David,
putting a tablespace in begin backup mode has the following
    affect:
    1. freeze the header of the files (only the header)
    2. copying the whole database blocks into redo log ( and not only
the change vectors), because you need the whole block for
    recovery.
That's it. The database is still writing in these files.

  • Installing OLEDB Provider (10.2.0.3) for use in creating SQL Linked Servers

I've installed the Oracle OLEDB Provider (version 10.2.0.3) on my SQL Server 2005 box (Windows 2008 64-bit). However, when I reboot the server after install I do not see the OraOLEDB.Oracle provider in my list of providers available to use to create a linked server to the Oracle database.
Could someone help steer me in the right direction?
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
This forum is for links from Oracle to non-Oracle databases. For issues with connectivity to Oracle using ODBC/OLEDB it would be better to ask the question in the ODBC forum -
    ODBC
They have the experience of connections to Oracle and the software involved.

  • Problems install oledb 9 and 8

I'm trying to Install the OLEdb providers for Oracle (version 8 or 9). I'd installed a 10g
version, which is useless, because the driver is too new and the server wasn't supported.
That's why I was trying to install the version 8 or 9 OLEdb providers.
When trying to install version 8, the installer keeps on repeating that JRE (java runtime files)
weren't found, so I downloaded and installed J2RE 1.4.2.05 to no effect, because the installer
keeps on saying that JRE can't be found.
Has anyone had the same problem? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

Yeah, absolutely.  Install the multi-server version of CF, and then you can run as many different flavours of CF as you like.

  • Silent Install of OLEDB 8.1.7.2.0

Does anyone know how I can install OLEDB 8.1.7.2.0 silently. I have this partly working using a response file, but not all of the OLEDB Componets are being installed. The top level component installs no problem, but the second level "Oralce provider for OLEDB" is not showing as being installed.
I have noticed that when running the installer manually that this second level component (oralce provider for oledb) is not ticked for install automatically. Is there any way to change this?? I thought that I may be able to modify this using Oracle's software packager, but have had no luck.

  • Multiple Recordsets and the Oracle OleDB Provider

We are trying to return multiple recordsets from an Oracle SP through the Oracle oledb provider using VB. First of all, is this possible and is there any example code out there. Having trouble finding some info on this.
    Thanks

After reading install guide I figured out waht might be the problem.
I put OLEDB install into the same home (ora81).
It was suppose to go into different home directory (ora92).
Also, OLEDB is one of few components which can't exist in more then one
home dir on single machine. Installer knows that, and skips install of
OLEDB provider itself. So in my case I had to first uninstall OLEDB provider 8.1.7
and then install OLEDB provider 9.2
    Thanks,

  • Installed MySQL ODBC, system DSN configured and working, provider still not showing in SQL 2005 provider list

    As per the title, really.
I need to fetch data periodically from a MySQL DB. Installed the 5.1 MySQL 32bit ODBC driver onto the SQL server, configured and tested the DSN, all fine.
Provider still not showing in the list in Management Studio.
Can anyone offer any advice? is it a simple case of restarting services? I haven't tried that due to the server being in production.

    Hello,
Is this a 64 bit SQL Server? For a linked server you can only use OleDB data provider, have you also installed OleDB for MySQL? If not, then you have to use the ODBC OleDB provider together with a System DSN.

  • Error when creating a linked server to IBM iSeries AS/400

I am migrating databases from SQL Standard 2005 (32 bit) to SQL Standard
2012 (64 bit) and getting errors when I create the needed Linked Servers to our IBM as/400. I scripted the as400 linked server from the 2005 server and created it on the 2012 server:
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver @server = N'AS400', @srvproduct=N'DB2 UDB for iSeries', @provider=N'MSDASQL', @datasrc=N'AS400'
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname=N'AS400',@useself=N'False',@locallogin=NULL,@rmtuser=N'USER_NAME',@rmtpassword='PSSWD'
    (plus various sp_serveroptions)
I then verified that the MSDASQL Provider "Allow Inprocess" was checked and the Linked Server is listed as using the provider but when I try to view the objects under the "AS400" Linked Server I get an error saying: Cannot initialize the
data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "AS400". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7303)
I was told to download and install OLEDB provider for DB2.  I downloaded DB2OLEDBV4 but when I try to install it I try to install it I get a OK Box saying: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 requires the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or later
version.  Ensure that this version is fullfilled before installing Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2." when I click OK, I get "Setup was interrupted before Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 could be completely installed" and the install
exists.  I am installing on SQL 2012!
    Can anyone please advise...

    Hi,
Based on your description, we know that you got an error when you installed the OLEDB provider for DB2. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 V4.0 is needed If you use SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2012 to connect to IBM DB2 databases. When you install the
OLEDB provider for DB2 V4.0, we need to make sure that the system meets the following requirements:
    • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 SP2.
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (Enterprise, Developer or Evaluation Edition) or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (Datacenter, Enterprise, Developer or Evaluation Edition) is installed.
    • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.
As your post,it seems that you have installed SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition, this edition is not supported by Microsoft OLEDB Provider for DB2 V4.0. I recommend you to upgrade the standard edition to enterprise edition and reinstall the OLEDB Provider. You
can try this method and if you have any questions, please feel free to revert.

Failed to load the library. System error: The specified module could not be found."  We have installed BI 4.1 SP05 in our system. As per earlier posts in scn in BO XI 3.x this issue used to be for improper installation of Integration KIT but in our scenarion Integration KIT is within the BO 4.1 package so no seperate installation is required. Moreover I have checked whether all the driver is present under file: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\drivers" and seems everything is fine. But still I am getting this error. One important point is we could use IDT because in IDT still we don't have option to connect with 'Microsoft Analysis Services - 2014 (XMLA)' as we are using Microsoft Analysis Services 2014 version.
Kindly help if anyone has faced the same problem with SAP BO 4.1.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Ghosal

    Hello Everybody,
The problem is solved now after installing "OLEDB drivers from SQL Server 2012 Feature Pack". We had OLEDB drivers that comes directly from SQL Server but that did not worked out in our case.
    Thanks for your support.
    Best Regards,
    Ghosal
