Installing on Drive Other then C:

I’ve done some research on this and it seems it’s not possible but I’m going to ask any way to get official clarification.  I have an SSD (C:) drive and I don’t want my Creative Cloud on that drive I rather have it on the 300GIG K drive I have. It wont’ install no matter what I do it goes to c: is there a way to fix this?

There is no way to avoid several components being installed on the system root, including the main CC app. You can only select an alternate install location after that in the CC settings, but even then stuff will end up on C:\ for simple practical reasons like components shared across different apps regardless whether the bulk of the app files will be placed elsewhere.

  • Installing on drive other than C drive

I am new to the Cloud. At present paying for Dreamweaver. I would like to reinstall to a different drive but don't remember getting option in first installation. Anyone have a clue ?

, Yes I see it and as I mentioned earlier "perhaps I wasn't following you correctly". I wasn't, I was looking at "Preferences" in the Dreamweaver program itself. Thanks for the screenshot and time taken to help.. I changed to a different folder and drive and then downloaded trial Acrobat and it still loaded program in the C drive. I guess that option is for files to be synced to the clouds.  Apparently Adobe doesn't give an option of where you want a program installed. I think some programs like Photoshop can be installed and then have the program and related files moved to another folder and work just fine. Some programs like Dreamweaver cannot. Must have something to do with the different amounts of communication needed between Win or Mac and programs when loading. Thanks again

  • Can plugins be installed to drives other than C: for AE and/or PPRO?

    hello,
    i am running win 7 64 bit

i would like to install video copilot and red giant plugins on drive j:
and install some boris plugins on drive k:
it has been said that adobe programs like to be on c:
my question is am i setting myself up for trouble
by installing plugins (and the subsequent footage associated with these plugins)
    on drives other than c:?
(i am not comfortable setting up any kind of raid yet

    hello Harm,
    thanks for the answers
gonna spend the day moving files around
    clean is good
as far as the memory, i'll figure that   one out next
is overclocking memory that easy ?
actually if i could ask another question:
    with a stock i7 930 at 2.8Ghz
    and 16gb DDR3 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24 memory
what are stable results to expect for an oc'ed cpu
    and memory running at 1600?
would oc'ing the cpu be worth the extra 'wear and tear'?
    i'm editing avchd .mts files
(most threads state that avchd is cpu intensive)
so far i'm very happy with cs5
again, i more trust answers from within this forum
than googling stuff and checking reviews, what not
    thanks again and good morning,

  • Smart Install - vstack vlan other then vlan 1

    Hello people
Has anybody managed to get smart install working on a vlan other then vlan 1?
    Our setup would be:
    DHCP  - Local director
    TFTP  - ekstern server
    Management vlan 209
My issue is that when I connect the client switch to a normal trunk "sw mode trunk" we use vlan 1 as native per default and obviously no traffic is comming from vlan 209 to the new switch. It just works (downloads IOS and startup-config) when I connect the client switch to an access port on vlan 209.
I have gone through several docs and videos but all show vlan 1 as the vstack vlan .
According to this guide should be possible to use a different vlan then 1 as management for the vstack.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/smart_install/configuration/guide/smart_install.pdf
Anyone could help me? I am kinda stuck here..
    Best regards
    Isaac

Yeah I'm not sure how big the STP thing will be, I'm racking my brain trying to remember, I think when VLAN_Inconsistencies are detected on a trunk the VLAN isn't allowed to enter forwarding state or something, but my memory of that is fuzzy at best. I think you can stop that, maybe with something like BPDUFilter on the upstream side of the trunk. In that case you could turn it on to allow Zero Touch to configure and upgrade the switch, then as soon as the switch is configured you could have native vlan matching on both sides and the BPDUFilter could be disabled. I sort of see that as something like a join window, it does make it not true zero touch, but includes a security feature where you have to intervene before a smart install can occure. For me that's a good thing, but for others it might be a pain in the ass. Obviously in either case be careful when playing with anything that can interfear with STP, BPDUFilter is an obvious exclimation point for that warning.
I think you would have trouble with L3 as the defaut config on a blank switch will have all ports in switchport mode and you can't zero touch the switch and also set the port into no switchport mode at the same time. Unless you are refering to having the L3 SVI for VLAN 1 on the director. Obviously that solves all your problems with Smart Install needing vlan 1, but then you need routing back to your TFTP Server and to DHCP, possibly to TACACS and to your management station so in my mind you are basically starting to actively use VLAN 1 for management. In my case this is unacceptable as all our switches have a low numbered VLAN (never 1) as their management interface and that is the only interface I let LMS contact them on. Since LMS does discovery through CDP and CDP always finds the IP of the lowest numbered VLAN on your neighbouring switch, creating VLAN 1 would be very bad for us. It also goes against all the security principals regarding the use and appropriate pruning of vlan 1.

  • AD snapshot - how to mount/recover when DB is installed to drive other than C?

When I installed AD, I put everything on the D: (DB, logs, sysvol)
I am trying to utilize the AD snapshot feature. I can take snapshots and delete them all day long. I cannot however, mount and access them. I started off with trying
Ashley McGlone's function set but after it failed it mount I contacted him and he said it was not written to handle AD that was not installed on C:.
So I regressed back to the NTDSUTIL commands in which his functions were written to handle in the background. I cleared all snapshots and manually took one.
Here you can see even though I took ONE snapshot, two show up: one for C and one for D
I went ahead and mounted both at this point. Then tried running the following command and this is the error I get:
I also tried running that command on both snapshots that were mounted.
Has anyone else successfully used the AD snapshot utility when AD is not installed using the default locations?
    Is this action even supported?

Yes this works and is supported, try running this in a standard cmd shell, not in powershell, powershell requires paths to be accessed with .\

We're trying to install "Sneak Preview SAP NetWeaver 04 Java Edition" onto a Win2000 server and it seems to only want to install on the C: drive. Is there a way to override this to a different drive letter?
    Thanks in advance

    Dear Steve,
Just maually type the other drive name e.g D: or E: it will overrite that C: but before that make sure your other drives are active.
For more information regarding installation pls follow the link below although it is for windows 2003 server but the steps will remain same:-

  • System Profiler will not recognize installed hard drive if drive is in use by VMWare

System Information will not recognize installed Hard Drive (Boot Camp) when in use by VMWare.
I work in IT for a School District and I am creating a Script that system information about the computer. I am testing this on a Mac Pro with two internal hard drives. One drive is Mac OS 10.8 and the other drive is a Boot Camp Drive that is used by VMWare Fusion.
When I run System Information via the GUI or system_profiler via Terminal, both drives show up just fine. However, if I launch VMWare Fusion and run Windows from my Boot Camp drive, then run System Information via the GUI or system_profiler via Terminal, the Boot Camp Drive is no longer listed as an installed drive.
    Example:
In the Terminal, I enter the following command.
    system_profiler SPStorageDataType
    Then it returns this information.
    Storage:

The Boot Camp Drive is no longer listed.
I assume this is due to the the fact that the drive is "In Use" however is seems odd since the Mac drive is also in use and it appears without problem. I assume there is no "fix" for this, I was just wondering if someone may have an explaination why?
Also, I do realize that I can query the various interface types like system_profiler SPSerialATADataType to get all the properly installed phycial drives, but then I would have to query all possible interface types, isolate only devices containing Volumes, then consoldate the information to just the information that I need. I was hoping for a cleaner query.

    Thank you for your response.
VMWare may be the cause, but the actual issue I am having is with Apple's System Information. I anticipated resistance from VMWare if I went to them with a question about an Apple software issue (even though VMWare software is part of the equation). I was trying to avoid the inevitable finger pointing game. I thought I would try with Apple Forums first since the issues presents itself within the Apple Software. However, you are correct that VMWare may have an explanation on why Fusion might be interfering with System Information. I will check with them next.
To answer your question. Yes, In most cases I do use Fusion to run Windows side-by-side with the Mac OS. However, that is not always the case. There are a few reasons why I have it setup using a Dual Boot configuration.
One, in some cases, due to the intense programs I occasionally run (graphic applications), I prefer to simply boot straight into Windows via Boot Camp so I may allocate all hardware resources to Windows. Additionally, some graphic applications like to have direct access to hardware and the extra layer of the VM environment can cause problems when an application is trying to directly access specific hardware like a graphics card.
Second, I often use either side, both Mac and PC, for testing. There is an advantage to not having to rely on the Mac OS to run Windows. If, for whatever reason, my Mac becomes unstable due to testing, I can still jump right into Windows to do work if necessary.
Third, I love the Mac OS, but I work in a PC centric organization. If there is a "problem" with my system, it is too easy for other system admins to say, "it's because it's a Mac". Having the definitive separation of the OS's allows me to prove that the Mac OS is not a factor.

  • Installing device driver every time I turn on the computer

Every time I turn on my computer or plug in my iPhone 3G, I get the little icon and popup for "Installing Device Driver" and after a couple of minutes it says it installed successfully and then starts installing itself all over again. It's irritating as heck. I'm on Windows Vista and iTunes version 9.1.1.12. I updated Windows and updated iTunes and neither helped. This just started happening within the last week. My computer only has one USB drive and it's the one I've always used. Please help!

It sounds as if you have more than one thing going on here. You say that when you turn on your computer you are getting an icon about installing device driver. Then you say it happens "or plug in my iPhone 3G". These should be two different issues.
Let's isolate the first one. When you turn the computer on, you are getting a device driver popup. This occurs every time you turn on the computer? Are you running it in an administrator mode? What kind of external devices do you have connected to the computer? What USB devices do you have connected, i.e. printer, external drives (not flash drives)?
After that, we can tackle the iPhone issue.

  • How to Install Photoshop CC on a Drive Other than C:

  • Installing Reader 10.1 to a drive OTHER THAN 'C' drive

Hi. Can anyone provide guidance on how to install Adobe Reader 10.1 to a hard drive other than the C drive?
At no point during the installation process is the user given the option to select a drive letter. I need space on my C drive and want to install this rather sizeable utility on my E drive.
My O/S is XP Pro 2002 (SP 3)
    Thanks,
    SD

I assume you are downloading the Reader using the download manager, aren't you.
Just download the EXE or the MSI installer from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.0/ and execute e.g. either of the following files:
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.exe
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi
Then you should be able to change the destination folder...

  • How to install Creative Cloud on any drive other than my System drive...

You are now chatting with 'Bhagawan'
Bhagawan: Hello. Welcome to Adobe Technical Support.
    Bhagawan: Hi Steve
Steve: It appears CC installs on my system drive without asking me. The way I manage my system - this is not acceptable. So, how do I install on the drive I install all my other apps?
Bhagawan: I understand that you want to install Creative Cloud desktop app. Am I correct?
Steve: On a particular drive - not my system drive.
    Steve: CC, Photoshop, etc.
Bhagawan: I will be glad to check and help you with this issue.
Bhagawan: Steve, creative cloud desktop app can be install only on C drive, but other apps you select for other drive.
Steve: My C: drive is dedicated to my OS only.
Steve: It is a special drive that will not work for very long if software companies put their programs on it till it fills up and then everything stops.
Steve: Didn't Adobe think of this?
Steve: I have one computer that only has a few MBs left of C:. What do I do on that computer?
    Steve: "left on C:"
    Bhagawan: Give me a minute.
    Bhagawan: Thank you.
Bhagawan: Steve, I'm really sorry, creative cloud desktop app will be installed on C Drive, since the operating system is installed, but other Creative Cloud apps can be installed other Drive and depends on file size.

I had the same problem and finally solved it.
It is "funny" that CC doesn't ask you where to install apps. Or better to say, it asks you but doesn't care. In Creative Cloud desktop app/Preferences there is option to choose where you want apps to be installed, but they are still installed in C:/Program Files/....
How to install apps on secondary drive in just 3 steps:
    1. Go to page Adobe CC 2014 Direct Download Links – Creative Cloud 2014 Release | ProDesignTools and download all apps that you will need.
    2. Once downloaded, install it. During installation you will be asked where you want app to be installed (just like in any other "normal" installation)
    3. Be happy
    Hope I helped

    Hi ze2red_ics
There have been other reports of a couple of .dll being loaded too early on Vista which then claims they are missing.
It is always helpful to record them if you get a chance. That said although you appear to have made every effort to remove everything Nokia from your Lenovo laptop, did that include clearing up registry or not?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X doesn't come with iLife applications, so you have to install them manually after installing Mac OS X.
Insert the Applications disc or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 DVD and install iLfe applications. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest update. If you want, you can purchase iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto in the App Store, so you will get the most recent version
