Installing on Proliant ML350 G5
Hello,
I'm trying to isntall Arch on a Proliant ML350 G5 however the broadcom NIC is not detected and I've no clue how to get it working.
I've been searching for a solution online with no succes ... anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks,
Anq
Familiarising yourself with your hardware and the drivers it requires is a very informative and useful exercise - yes, autodetection improves all the time, but it's not guaranteed, and it's no substitute for putting in a (usually) minimal amount of effort to establish the facts yourself.
And just so you don't accuse me of lecturing you without helping, I've done some googling, for curiosity's sake, and it seems you might need to use the bnx2 driver - there are various versions of this included in the Arch kernel package.

Oracle Enterprise Server 8i 8.1.7 and HP Proliant ML350 G3
I would like if it has any clarification regarding the compatibility problem between Oracle Enterprise Server 8i 8.1.7 and HP Proliant ML350 G3 Server. I cann't proceed with the installation of Oracle Enterprise Server 8i 8.1.7 on that machine whilst the process just stop at first logo. When I'm using Oracle Enterprise Server 9i 9.1 version, the installation process can proceed successfully. But, my customer (own Oracle Enterprise Server 8i 8.1.7) requires to install Oracle 8i 8.1.7 not Oracle 9i 9.1 version.
So, please someone help me to rectify that problem !!!!!Can it be installed? It probably can be (assuming we're talking XP Professional).
Is it certified? On the main OTN page, under "Get Support" is the certification & availability matrix. Following that down, you'll find that the Oracle client was certified on 8.1.7, subject to the application of a number of patchsets, but that the Oracle database was not. Windows 2000 was the latest flavor of Windows that was certified with the 8.1.7 database.

Hi,
I have a HP Proliant ML350 G6 server. It has a single power suppliy (there is a sticker with 460W indication), 1T hard, 4GB RAM with Windows server 2012.
I'm looking to purchase a UPS for this with following tentative specifications (230 V supply).
Operating mode - Line interactive
Rating - 1000VA
10 minutes running time with UPS is enough in case of power failures
Please advice if the above given rating and the mode of UPS is sufficent for this server. This is not hosted in a data center type location.it's a server palced in my office to run some small applications only.
Thanks

I downloaded and burned the 5 CDs. I booted the Proliant with disc 1 entered all the parameters but the install chokes saying it can't find the disks. I'm running a single 9GB drive on the RAID controller.. I'm just seeinf if I can install it but I can't get past this part. I tried copying the contents of the 5 CDs to an NFS exported partition on another server. The device I'm attempting to install Solaris on sees the other server but not the information it needs to continue the NFS install. Is there a link someone can send me with instructions on setting up an install using NFS.
Having searched Google (after searching Sun's site unsuccessfully) I see that the Compaq Smart RAID controllers are an ongoing problem. I found one thread that had links to HP's site for drivers but the DL760 is not listed there. I can't waste any more time trying to figure out how to install Sun's product on a server which is clearly a "standard" server. Red Hat, SuSE, Ubuntu, Centos and other Linux distributions have no problem recognizing the hardware and loading the driver. I don't understand why Sun doesn't include support for HP/Compaq's servers.
I guess I have no alternative but to
rm -fr sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v1.iso sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v3.iso sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v5.iso sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v2.iso sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v4.iso
and reformat the CDRW discs I tried to install from. -
Kernel 2.6.17 on HP Proliant ML350 G3
Hi all,
someone has installed Arch on this server? After the big update my server doesn't see anymore the ide controller (the module for the controller is serverworks). The very strange thing is that lspci doesn't list the controller:
00:03.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage XL (rev 27)
00:04.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5702X Gigabit Ethernet (rev 02)
00:05.0 System peripheral: Compaq Computer Corporation Advanced System Management Controller
02:02.0 RAID bus controller: Compaq Computer Corporation Smart Array 64xx (rev 01)
Under /dev directory I don't see any hd* devices.
I have tried to load manually the module but with no luck.
Any ideas?Yeah, I have the same setup I was using before the suspend breakage in beyond2; my resume2=swap:/dev/vg0/swap (which did work fine). I haven't had time to investigate, but I'm *guessing* it may be that it's not activating the LVM until after it looks for the suspend image. Of course, the simple solution would be not to run swap-on-LVM (which would also have speed benefits, I think). But, I don't really have time to be running around reconfiguring my HD layout atm, and resume from swap-on-LVM did work, and should work again. I'll try to get more details later.

Replacing 1 dead HDD in Array of a proliant ml350 sever
hello,
I have a 3 hdd array 5 server, one of the disk died, can I replace the dead disk with another of different capacity ?
thanksThis would be a better forum for that question
See servers section
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/home.do?forumId=2&admit=109447626+1281670914662+28353475
or here
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com
Yes but performance could suffer slightly. If it is a larger size, it will only use the amount of disk space equal to the others in the array, the rest of the space will be unusable.
It is always best to use a drive of the same model in the array if you can. -
Installing Solaris 10 on HP ML350 G5 server - No disks found
I get no disks found.
I cant find drivers for Smart Array e200i 128Mb v.1.66 (disk controller installed on ML350 G5) on HP site or anywhere else.
Has anyone had success in installing Solaris on ML350 G5 server?
Help me, please!Common problem. The HP storage controller driver, cpqary3, is not included in the Solaris 10 install media.
[Download it here|http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121486&swItem=MTX-2eef9b53d2194136a514218995&prodNameId=3288144&swEnvOID=2023&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=2]
One of the files included in the bundle is a .iso, which you'll need to burn to a CD. Then, when the installer gets to the first menu, select "Apply driver updates" and insert the cpqary3 CD. After the installer has loaded the drivers into the running kernel, pop the driver media out and re-insert the Solaris install media. Continue as normal. -
ComUS.msb won't install on Oracle 9i on Windows 2000
I have just purchased a Compaq ProLiant ML350 Generation 3 Server. Its OS is Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 3.
I am installing Oracle9i Database Release 2 Standard Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP.
But 54 % into the installation the following error message is shown:

If I press Retry, it pops up again. If I press ignore, it jumps to 100 % quickly, and then re-starts the installation prosess.

Installing Solaris 10 On HP ML 350 G5
I have a problem when installing solaris 10 on HP Proliant ML350 G5, it says no disks found,
I have smart array controller E/200 from HP, i downloaded the driver and followed the steps for updating driver during installation of solaris 10,
but i still have the same problem, please help.
Edited by: web_master on Mar 10, 2008 4:59 AMI have a similar issue trying to load Solaris 10u4 on an IBM x236.
I had to put in a recognized SCSI card, attach an external array to the card, and install Solaris 10u4 on the array. Then I had to install the correct driver from OpenSolaris (an Adaptec one for IBM ServeRAID), and do a live upgrade onto the now-visible internal disks. Then I removed the array and cleaned up the traces from the live upgrade.
You may have to do something similar.
And last month the boot drive got corrupted when power was interrupted. "Oops. Wrong plugs..." This time the external array will stay connected. -
No disks found on install, need driver?
Hi All,
I have a Compaq/HP Proliant ML350 G2 server which I would like to install Solaris 10 onto. The install program says it cannot detect any disks and exits so I am guessing that it requires drivers.
The controller card is detected as this under Linux:
scsi0 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 7.0
<Adaptec (Compaq OEM) 3960D Ultra160 SCSI adapter>
aic7899: Ultra160 Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 32/253 SCBs
Can anyone please provide guidance as to how I can install Solaris onto the machine?
Many thanks.Hi,
Check your system configuration with solaris hardware compatibility list.

HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus 910 n printer driver does not install on a windows server 2008R2 OS
I recently had a new server installed, a Proliant with a Windows Server 2008R2 operating system. I now just discovered that my All in One Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus A 910 will not install on the Windows Server 2008 R2, ïncompatible operating system. Does anybody have a workaround or solution?
Hello dawnp,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with installing the printer on to your Windows 7 computer.
I suggest that we start off by running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If the Doctor fails, please let me know where it failed as well as any error codes you may see.
Write me back when you have time and I will be happy to help.
Cheers,

Logical drive 1 status = Ready for recovery ml350 g5
Hi,
I have a problem with a HP Proliant ML350 G5, 2 weeks ago the server did shutdown unexpectedly i looked in the ACU and saw that the controller had a battery problem. I replaced the battery but the server keeps once or twice a day shutting down. I made a report from the ACU but i don't know what this all means.
Here is a part of the report, i hope someone can lead me to the right solution,
Thanks in advance.

HP Proliant ML350G4 server - problem with array
Hi, I have HP Proliant ML350 G4 server. The problem is that I can not configure the array for SCSI hard drives. When I run the Array Configuration Utility from the SmartStart CD, I get the message: "ACU did not detect any supported controllers in your system." How do I solve this problem?
Hi:
You may also want to post your question on the HP Business Support Forum -- ML Servers section.

Installation hang on Solaris 10
I've been trying to install Solaris 10 on a Compaq(HP) ProLiant ML350 G3, so far without success. During the pre-boot Configuration process, I get a few messages about conflicts between a couple of 'devices' identified only as PNP0A00 and PNP0303. I've read elsewhere that these can be safely ignored ... so I've assumed that's correct and let 'em go.
When the boot-from-CD process begins, the first (and last) text I see is "Loading Driver ata.bef." At that point the CD activity light stops flashing and the machine hangs hard - it has to be physically powered down. I've seen on other sites that this condition will clear up after 10 or 20 minutes, but in my case it has persisted indefinitely.
This computer, a ProLiant ML350 G3, has 2 hyperthreaded 2.2Ghz Intel Xeon CPUs, 2.8 GB of memory, q Compaq Smart Array 642 SCSI Raid controller with 4 72GB Drives in Raid 5 (seen as two volumes of 16 and 56 GB), Hitachi GCR 8480-B CD-ROM drive (IDE), ATI Rage XL PCI video, standard PS/2 keyboard and mouse, Compaq NC7760 Gigabit ethernet adapter (Broadcom).
I really need some help here...Any suggestions (short of trying a different machine altogether)?
Thank in advance,
jeffHi Philippe,
Thanks for your reply.
I installed the whole suite including directory server in a non-defaut install directory. I am wondering if changing install directory will cause issues.

Hello.
We're running a NW6.5.8 machine on a HP Proliant ML350 G3. The server works
well since several years. Three weeks ago the server makes some problems.
After restarting the machine the memory runs low after 3 or for days. I
can't see a reason for this.
Do you have an idea for this?
Here is my config.txt of this machine:

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA. This would be
used
; when the DA was out of multicast range and DHCP was not being used to
; configure the DA.
; The static DA configuration format is as follows 'DA <addr type>,
<addr>'.
; The first word must be "DA". The addr type is the address type.
Currently, only
; IPV4 has been defined. IPV6 will be defined in the future. The addr is
; the address specified.
; The following is an example of a static DA.
; DA IPV4, 130.1.1.1
; The SA Register Filter would be used when the administrator wanted all
services
; of a specific service type being mapped to a single scope. For example,
; the administrator wanted all "lpr" printers being registered to scope
"printer".
; The format is as follows: 'REGISTER TYPE "<type name>" to SCOPE "<scope
name>"'.
; The parser will look for REGISTER, TYPE, and SCOPE as keywords followed
by quote on
; a single line. Example:
; REGISTER TYPE "lpr" to SCOPE "eng"
; The last line must contain a line feed and char return. A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA.
A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.
