Installing on VMWare image Windos 2008

Hi everybody,
We are planning to install the Service Registry 11gR1 (11.1.1.0) with Weblogic on a VMWare machine (Windows , either 2008 or 2003).
Did anyone try this before ? Is this working or is it challenging / impossible ?
Many thanks,
CL

Nikil,
Which version on RHEL you are going to use and which version of VMWARE you as planning to install...
If you google around , you can find a lots of notes on vmware and oracle installation.

  • Error installing Weblogic  1033 on Windos 2008 R2

We are trying to install the latest soasuite (11gR1) on Windows 2008R2 (which is a VM because it is our first test with this version)
So we set up a database and installed a very recent java (jdk-6u22-windows-x64)
    So far so good.
Then when starting the installer uysing "java -jar installer.jar" it immediately bails out with:
Exception in thread "winRegistry" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Expecting an absolute path of the library: jni_winx64
The only reference in metalink is to an issue when an jar was unzipped before installing. But this version is delivered as a jar file so that seems not relevant.
Found the requested file in the "native" subdirectory, so copied it to directory where the installer.jar resides and tried again.
Now the installer starts and i can go through several installer screens but after the screen about Middelware Home Directory and Product Installation Directories when i hit Next it shows a box with "A fatal error has occured. This application will terminate" and then the installer quits.
No java exception is shown and i can't find any logfile of windows eventlog entry which might give some detail on the problem.
I tried several combinations for starting the installer up until:
    "c:\Program Files\Java\bin\java.exe" -D64 -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -jar installer.jar
Does anyone have any ideas on this?
    Thanks in advance.

I found that the file available for download from OTN was named wls1033_generic.zip. Once downloaded simply rename this to wls1033_generic.jar and then follow the Oracle instructions.
Took me a while to figure that one out. It would be helpful if you could just download it as a jar or if the download page made it clear that the file needs to be renamed.

  • Installing DSEE 7 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64-bit does nothing

    Hi All,
Has anyone been able to install DSEE 7 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64-bit? Is it supported?
I followed the instructions and when run the command (as the Administrator) below nothing happen, it simply return an empty command prompt. Ms VC 2008 Redistributables (the one that come with the archive) is installed.
    dsccsetup.exe war-file-create
    dsccsetp.exe ads-create
When run the same command using the same archive on Windows 7 64-bit it does prompt for further input or report error.
Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

Windows 2008 R2 is not listed as a supported OS in the release notes.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19424-01/820-4805/820-4805.pdf
    It lists:
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition for x86 and x64 Service Pack 1
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition for x86 and x64 Service Pack 1
If you are able to go to the next version, it is listed as supported in the release notes for ODSEE 11g:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/odsee-11gr1certmatrix-161592.xls
I have not tried 11g on 2008 R2 myself, but if it is in the certification matrix, it should work.
    Hope that helps,
    Eric

  • Install SSMS on SQL Server 2008 Express

Hi,I'm trying to install SSMS on my Windows 2008 Server running SQL Server 2008 Express.
I get the following error when I try to install it:
How do I get around this? I thought I had at least SP1 installed but don't know how to check.

    Hello,
The easiest way is to install SSMS with SP3, you can get it here:
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express Service Pack 3
Otherwise: It's just a warning, go on with Installation and apply SP1 (or better SP3) afterwards:

  • Is it possible to install and run Windows Server 2008 on a Mac Mini Server in a Virtual Machine software like Parallels

I am wondering if it is possible to install and run Windows Server 2008 on a Mac Mini Server as a VM as my main application uses Windows VisualBasic and Fox Pro and requires a Static IP to connect to it, My other offices connects to Windows Server via RDP.
Basically I am researching a Server for the same purpose and since Mac Mini and OsX both are robust in nature it can fit the bill if every thing work fine.
    Thanks

  • Install Oracle 10g on windows 2008 Server 64bit

Is it possible to install Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 64bit . I read one post below it says , windows 2008 is not certified for oracle 10g ..
    windows server 2008 Oracle 10G 64 bit
before I installed 32bit , it is throwing error message on alert log file on every 5 seconds.
"OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
    O/S-Error: (OS 1) Incorrect function. ! "
if it is possible which version I want to download is best ..
and what is the recommendation whether it is 10g or 11g

You mean to say Oracle 10g 64bit will not work in Windows 2008..?No, i meaned the post you linked was written in year 2008, in that year it's was a unsupported platform for that oracle version. Actually its supported and you can install it.
Furthermore like Aman told you, It's more recommended install 11gR2 version

same issue here. I need 10.2.0.3.0 with install software to bring a legacy sid over onto new server hardware that will not support Win 2003. I have Win 2008 32bit loaded and just need the software install ruitine to make the move. My legacy 10g server running on older hardware and Win 2003 works, but is now uncompliant with IA requirements now. We are sandboxing this application. My new server will need to have 2008 on it.
Will Oracle supply me the software. I have paid maintenace on my account every year. Just paid it for this year in Ocober. Should not have an issue here.submit a Service Request & you'll get your question answered

  • Installing the factory image from linux

Currently I have Cianogenmod, since I'm getting tired of it, I want
to go back to the factory image, if possible the lollipop one directly.
I tried the emma tool, but I'm behind a very ugly firewall and it
    couldn't connect to the internet.
How can I download and install the factory image from linux
    using adb and fastboot?

I don't think sony provides fastboot flashable images.
Now you're left with these tools.
Official > There's just PC Companion ( locked bootloaders) and EMMA ( For unlocked bootloaders)
    Unofficial > Flashtool
You should use emma from other internet connection and PC.
    I don't think there's another way

  • Problem when importing vmware images

    Hello,
I've tried to import a few vmware images into oracle vm but so far all have failed. The error in the mainlogs point to severe but really don't say a thing...
Can this be an issue with cpu families? ie coming from an AMD Opteron cpu(vmware 4 server) to an intel xeon cpu(oracle vm server)
If this should be possible, what's the best way to start troubleshooting this kind of issues?
    J

The import process in OVM cannot deal with ESX,ESXi or vSphere VMDK-flat's directly. You need to export the VM using VirtualCenter and export it in a Vmware player/workstation 2.x format. Then move the exported files to OVM and re-attempt your import.
I ran into this exact problem a week ago. Its a shame OVM cant just import plain-old ESX-formatted images, maybe OVM 3.0 can deal with it?
